  1. Yeah, much as I love X and Y, they're seriously lacking when it comes to story. I don't remember many details about Ruby and Sapphire's story, but it sounds like they may be coming up with something entirely new anyway, so maybe we will get a story on-par with Black and White.

I'm also really, really glad they're sticking with worldwide releases.

  2.

“The Tohunga believe [Gali] is the sustainer of life, and worship her more than any of the others.”

    Gali 4 fav goddess

Sooo... 'bout them religious themes that LEGO avoids...

Goddess Gali was too fabulous and would've spawned an actual religion so they changed it so parents wouldn't complain

That is the only logical explanation right?

  3. Hm, I might give that method a try, but logic isn't really my strong suit... :P

Yes, Despair of the Divine is related. That was me attempting to detail an event that drives the relationships between three of the Queens for many years leading up to the timeframe I want to set the main story in. The idea as a whole really started with Recluse's Dilemma; when I took my Fiction Writing class last semester, I rewrote it and expanded upon the "video game" story, and ended up getting sucked into that. Then I wrote two shot stories setting up the Queens, the conflict, and how they're dealing with it. I have them up on my Tumblr (and I'm still hesitant to link to my Tumblr), but with some editing, I might consider posting them in OTC.

  4. I was thinking something along those lines. A threat to the Queens is going to become apparent and, after they all gather and discuss how they want to react, several of them are going to relocate so that they can have more power centered in one place. I also want to show how the other Queens, who are doing things on their own, will be reacting to what they have to face, and I thought that maybe I would have a chapter or two from each of their points of view. I was also thinking that, whatever the endgame might be, it would probably end up involving all 12 of them, though I'm not entirely sure how to do that.

I really do need to work on a proper outline...

  5. I don't think it would hurt the story for them to be less prominent, no. The hard part will be getting myself to do that, since I want to give them all some spotlight. :P Haven't decided on a sequel yet, but it's possible--though if I did, the "reincarnation"-esque mechanic I have in place would prompt me to use a different generation of Queens. They would have mostly the same personalities, though...

Yeah, that should probably be doable. I've already decided on a main character from the group, so I'll make myself stick to that and try not to get too crazy with shifting viewpoints.

  6. Is it...wrong or unnecessary to have a 1:1 ratio? What would be wrong with that?

I mean, maybe the ratio won't always be exactly 1:1. What if you have an odd number of characters, right?

Still, a ratio of, oh I don't know...5:1 or worse *cough* is something we can agree is a problem, isn't it?

  7. Not sure if you're still accepting suggestions, but I just remembered something that I feel like I should bring up, and that is Steins;Gate. It has the same writer as Bravely Default, and the English translation was literally just released. It's a visual novel, so make of that what you will, but the anime based on its True Ending is quite good. It shares a lot of traits with Bravely Default, primarily in regards to the spoilers, so I'll have to stay quiet. But, if you liked the story and characters of Bravely Default, you'll like the story and characters of Steins;Gate.

  8. Yeah, I did notice that (along with no ZX Mega Men, would've been nice to see Aile or Ashe). I do prefer the SF3 design, and it would make it easier to come up with whacky fanfictions about Geo travelling to the past/SSB world for his next adventure, but the original design was used for more stuff and was probably thought to be more recognizable or unique. Besides, this gives Omega-Xis some face time too. :P

  9. The similarities between Bravely Default and Final Fantasy are very apparent, I'm sure, but Final Fantasy V in particular shares a lot of strengths with BD, and is available on GBA (so a DS can play it). It's extremely comical in tone, but still has its fair share of epic and heartbreaking moments, and it has plenty of lovable characters to bond with. Also Jobs. Lots and lots of Jobs.

There's also The World Ends With You (DS), which is a very unique RPG that pushes the hardware to its limits. It has a rather steep learning curve, but once you get over that it's one heck of a ride. I can't say too much without spoiling anything, but basically, you've got an angsty teenager with amnesia waking up in Shibuya, Japan who finds himself playing "the Reaper's Game", fighting off animals with tattoo body parts with help from a girl who fights by sending a plush cat to claw apart her foes. It only gets better from there.

I'm obligated to mention Kingdom Hearts too, of course. :P The games for DS (Re:coded and 358/2 Days) are...not the best in the series, as most players would attest to. As for Dream Drop Distance (3DS), I find it to be an excellent part of the series, and it does provide summaries of the other titles for your reading as you progress, but the nonsense of "plot" that the series is known for is at its strongest here. Your mileage may vary.

While it is a bit different, the Disgaea series can be pretty fun, and there is a title on DS (simply called Disgaea DS). It's a strategy RPG, so you can amass quite the army to give orders to on the battlefield. It's also ridiculously over-the-top, best symbolized by its level cap of 9999. Your main character is a demon trying to assert his rule over the Netherworld, and it very quickly becomes intertwined with plots in the human and angel worlds, leading to quite the journey.

Seeing that link to "Mega Man Profile" at the side of the page compels me to bring up Mega Man Star Force. A lot of fans of older MM games don't like the series, but personally I love it. The first one's worth a try. If you like it, skip 2 and go right to 3. The battle system is hit or miss, but I find it enjoyable, and there's a fair bit a character development to go around, which helps to draw you in.

...Sorry for the long post, JRPGs are my niche. :P

  10. Tiz definitely would've gotten a lot darker had that happened, so that would've been nice to see.

And yeah, that's something that kinda struck me as odd. I guess we're supposed to think that the battle was so fierce they didn't have a choice or something, but...do they really need to kill everyone?

It seems more bosses survive with each world visited, though.

  11.

It's still there, you've just moved to a new one. If you want to get the true ending, you're going to have to go through several more. This is where the game's similarity to Steins;Gate becomes a pain, to be honest...if you want to get the short ending first: you'll soon be informed of the option to either do something unusual or keep doing the same thing. If you do take the unusual choice, you'll go to the short ending (which starts with an unwinnable boss fight--don't worry, you get better afterwards).

  12. Spiritmaster is a big help dealing with the Dragons in the Vampire quest, believe me.

And yes, complete all the sub-quests before heading to Holy Pillar, else you'll lose your shot at them! Don't worry about Conjurer, though, that's available in Chapter 6 (along with the Susano'o summon).

    As for Ringabel...

You're spot-on, actually. I won't go into the details, but Ringabel is indeed another Alternis. As for why Edea didn't recognize him, well...yeah, I haven't quite figured that out either. :P My best excuse would be that maybe he always had a helmet on, but that's a rather silly handwave. Maybe it'll get explained later on and I just haven't reached it yet.
