You have not only fed my love of rational argument and etymology, but my love of ancient civilizations with this entry.
Gato, Gato, you so fine. You so fine you blow my mind.
-
Kohaku, thank you very much for some more rational reasons to stop being a homophobe. You continue to be The Man (the cool kind, not the authoratarian one),
So can someone explain to me why this is controversial again? We went over this last week. *blugh*
I think an important thing we should remember is that tolerance and acceptance extends to everyone, both people we agree with and those we don't. I disagree with racists, but I still accept the fact that they will not change their beliefs. In this sense, we should tolerate everyone, regardless of whether or not they show tolerance back.
I'd like to repost what I said in Gato's excellent blogpost. You may find it relevant:
To everyone playing devil's advocate: being tolerant of intolerance isn't just incoherent, it's cowardly. All you're doing is letting intolerance fester and hurt while you try to defend inferior arguments in the interest of fairness. Just because there are two sides to an argument doesn't mean they both hold the same weight or reason, so please stop acting like they do.

What forbidden secrets did you uncover on your hiatus from BZP?

What Xaeraz said. You can message me on Steam any time.

Lucky! I learned of their gig here in the Netherlands too late to get tickets.

Because it's the same thing as disagreeing with someone being black or ginger. It denies an intrinsic part of someone's being, one they didn't choose, and deminishes their humanity as a result.

If I wasn't already thrilled with your return, I would be now.

To Zarayana: I have never wanted to punch an elipses in the dot more, but I prefer words.
Yes, sexuality is a facet. When someone says they are gay or bi, it means they exist in that state as well as several others, such as human or white or blonde. When I say "I'm blond", I don't mean my blondness defines me as a person. This is just a matter of syntax.
Sexuality is a personal, intrinsic, and most importantly, a born-into trait. It's a part of a person's very being. It defines whom we love romantically, and if that isn't important to you, then you and I have a difference in what we value I fear may be insurmountable. When someone not only refuses to acknowledge a part of you -a part of you that's as natural and harmful to your being as breathing, and a part of you you had as much a choice in- or hates you, hurts you for it, there is something very wrong with that someone and that someone is wrong, comepletely and utterly.
Furthermore, I detest the insuation that someone identifying as bi or gay is somehow less in control of their primal urges than someone who identifies as straight. If I said I'm a heterosexual, you wouldn't think of me as some slobbering bundle of instinct and libido, would you?
And I feel I should mention that, because of what has been mentioned, no chastity is in any danger, nor will anyone catch "the gays".

To Gato: I sincerely apologize for the circus that this heartfelt entry has become and offer you my fondest of bro-hugs. I love you, man.

It's posts like these that remind me how lucky I was with my family.
You're still a great bro to me and I wish you all the best in your journey.

I haven't "glomped" anyone or anything in a while, but I think I shall make an exception now.
GATOOOOO~! *tackle*

YES. I got this at the start of the year and it's my favorite Square Enix game and I have the soundtracks and YES!
Hmm, between this and Fire Emblem: Awakening I might have to buy a 3DS.

It was 2 am and I was laughing uncontrollably when I first saw that.

It was on the NEWS. It was like: "Hey this video is popular on the internet, moving on".

I just had the thought that the final issue will have the coolest poster ever and now I'm very sad.

HEAVYARMS, HEAVYARMS, HEAVYARMS.
Sorry, I just have so much love for a mech whose answer to beamspam and melee is just "More Dakka" with one of my favorite Gundam designs.

That theremin does bring a lot to the table...

Don't kid yourself; of course you speak in bold purple.
Chuck Norris, however, is the only man who can speak in caps lock.
You seem to have confused Chuck Norris with Billy Mays. A common mistake.

It's wonderful to hear you're doing so well and I wish you all the best.

You lucky girl, you.

Jealous.

Whoops, fell asleep and the decision was made for me.

Look, I have a bunch of games I barely play.
Actually, that's all of them right now.

The problem with the redefinition of homophobia

All this, very thoughtful and well-spoken mind you, talk about how hating "ze gays" is wrong and yet nothing about how it's rather silly.
It's not just like hating people for being blond, it's hating how two people choose to love each other consentually; it's like hating people for giving eachother ice cream every day. Even if you think ice cream is a sinful treat that tempts people into fatness, these are still just two people making eachother's life a little more enjoyable, it certainly doesn't affect you, and if they eat ice cream responsibly like most would (perhaps they take a nice stroll to get their ice cream) they aren't even harming themselves, much less anyone else.
In fact, it's like hating two people for giving eachother ice cream instead of french fries every day; french fries can also be bad for you if you're not responsible with them, but if you are they make life more enjoyable and getting to share them with a person you care for even more so.
The point is: eat junk food responsibly and don't be hatin'.
