  1. This is Teridax we're talking about. The Plan probably had tons of optional objectives just so those who want to thwart him can't tell what to stop to undermine the Plan
  2. They could just throw that in the contest rules upfront: Rules: 1. No G1 connections. 2. No G1 characters. 3. No real life stuff. 4. No humans. 5. No donuts. 6. No toaster ovens. 7. No giant robots. 8. No references to other Lego lines 9. No rescuing Lewa, especially not using Onua. 10. No Vakama. 11. No theoretical physics. 12. No solving mysteries. 13. No Toa of Other G1 Elements 14. No new names. 15. No money. 16. No fun. 17. No whining about the above rules.
  3. "yeah hold on, time out, gotta stick this whole skull in my bra so i don't, like, lose it or anything." To be fair, human skeletons have a massive gap in their chest; it's full of "gross mushy red stuff" and ventricles when you're alive, but I can think of fewer better ways to use an empty chest cavity than storage. Also; Kulta Confirmed as First Transvestite Villain for Bionicle.
  4. I now picture a black Kardas Dragon slowly reducing the islands and domes to liquid proto. And a lone Toa of Sonics destined to defeat them.
  5. They're half-trans because they have a power, yes, but I'm proposing the reason they're half-transparent is because they're powered masks that have been used over time. The regular masks didn't fade, and when the MM were still running, the powered masks were replaced/refilled before they faded. But then that isn't the same situation as the "corrupted" Golden Masks, because it looks like they go back to normal when they are removed from the Skull Creatures. If the Protector masks (or corrupted masks) are transparent from being drained over time (or rapidly), then you would expect them to stay transparent when removed. Or have I misunderstood? The Skulls draw the element out forcefully, so they drain the masks quickly. The Protectors have drained the masks over generations and hundred of years. Either; 1) The Skulls forcibly drain the masks, but don't wear them long enough to make any permanent impact on the Mask's EE level. 2) The Toa have a reservoir of EE that tops up the masks upon retrieval. I tend to think the first is more likely.

  7. This also implies something about the trans-colours on the Protector masks; that they've been drained after years of being used as fuel for the elemental blasters. The first protectors must have had solid-colour masks, but the years of use without refresh/replacement has left them drained, like a slower version of what happens to the golden masks when the Skulls steal them.
  8. While the current Protectors have seen to cross gender lines, this also allows you to pretend your Protectors are of any different era and are any gender.
  9. They'd probably look more like the g1 miru, were that the case. More holes, since the nonstructural, thinner parts wore away first.
  10. I called the beast theme. I so called it back when G2 began. I still have the proof in my sig, if the topic hasn't died.
  11. So the names of the Masters and our beloved villain is 'the original lore being ignored? To borrow a phrase,"the broad strokes are the same, but the details have been tweaked." Would you rather have the Spherus Magna universe, with two different citizen species, two different warriors, elders and gods all dropped on the new Bionicle fan's head? The lore isn't being ignored, it's being adapted, and as Lyichir said; G1 hasn't gone anywhere. TLG didn't say that G1 is being overwritten. It's all still there. It's less like Disney chopping off the Star Wars EU and more like a new writer taking the story of Luke and Vader in a different direction from the beginning.
  12. I've got a month before I get my MM&SG set. Bleh.
  13. Thr difference between the gold Vahi and orange Vahi was time; it was gold when freshly forged, but years in the Silver Sea corroded it. But yea, there were exclusive masks without story significance in G1, like the Trans-Lime Miru.
  14. The City is locked in time. So, while beings can go in or out, they can't meaningfully change anything. I bet you ten widgets the Masters come back and see the bridge where they sent LoSS to the bottom of the valley whole again.
  15. funny thing. i had the same idea when making mockup plans of what 2011 Bionicle could've been, and found that with takanuva there the mahri are indeed six heroes that still fit the usual color pattern. (from a marketing standpoint then, Matoro is pretty obsolete right about now...) Well, character death has a tendency to kill marketability as well. The fact that Takanuva has white as one of his primary colours factored into my decision. Also, since the Mahri all look different from each other, with an 'angel' Ga-Toa, a hunchback Le-Toa and a stocky, dwarven Po-Toa, Takanuva's Nuva-like look would fit right in.
  16. Yes. Although if the mask is controlling him, wouldn't it control him to not get rid of itself? Madness can make a mind harder to control. Perhaps the remnant of the original personality overpowered the Spider's for just long enough to discard it.
  17. I actually headcanon him as a member of the Toa Mahri, filling the gap left by Matoro's Sacrifice. The team is made up of his friends, he's closer to them in power level and experience, and helps the Mahri 'take over' as the primary Protectors of the Metru Nui Matoran (and the Av-Matoran/Voyatoran, who I suppose joined them in Metru Nui)
  18. "Don't you recognise me, Mask Maker?" "No... It can't be... Kulta?"
  19. Wait a second... Slicer removing his 'Spider' means that perhaps he steals Onua's mask to be free of Kulta's control; however, He's gone mad from the transformation, and his existence drains the elemental power of the mask just to keep him 'alive'. Can it be that Skull Slicer commits 'Suicide By Toa' to get free? Slicer steals Lewa's mask, not Onua's. Is it Basher or Slicer that goes mad? Sorry. Slicer went mad in the transformation, but remembered enough to know that the mask is controlling him and he'd have to get rid of it. Make more sense?
  20. I'm expecting now that the upgrade for the Toa includes mask powers. Though, I would love it if the powers were changed, like the Toa's personalities; Pohatman gets the Shielding, Gali gets speed, Lewa Strength, Tahu levitation (hoverboarding!), Onua the power of Night Vision and Kopaka's pretty much stuck with X-ray vision or some other vision-based power.

  22. Personally, I think that a lot of the speculation that comes up around G2, his included, is minor variations on 'Do you think G2 will do X' or 'How should G2 do X' as if the new creative team has to work off G1's playbook to be accepted. This isn't G1. Throw your preconceived notions of BIONICLE out the window, and judge the new generation on its own. I'd love to see a speculation topic that goes with things like 'why haven't we seen the animals of Okoto and where did they go?' or 'What do you think the MoUP's powers are?'. 'Where do you think Makuta is?' can be another one. As for the OP. I agree that there shouldn't be any more Toa introduced. Instead, let's have more Protector stories, like MNOLG was for the matoran. I've said this before, but a line with a round of animal mounts for villagers, protectors or Toa would be right up my alley. By which I mean I'd buy every one of them. There's nothing stopping the 'eventh Toa' arc people think is so inevitable being the story of the Protectors finding and calling the Seventh Toa to rescue the Masters, for example.
  23. My TrU is full stocked of protectors. Are they worth getting if they aren't reduced in price?
  24. I think this suggestion is closest to the marrow. This is G2, the masks don't have to do anything besides look cool.
