  1. It's that Okoto is a Genius Loci, or sentient island. By fixing the problems of the inhabitants and letting the nature of the island (flora and fauna) reassert itself after Makuta's MoUP incident, the Toa are healing it. In the finale, the Animals of the island will fight alongside the Toa against MoUP-corrupted creatures.
  2. Good enough for a basic idea. The "Kaita" groups (IE Triad) are in a committed relationship between themselves, but ALSO as a relationship between the two groups (Dual). A romantic relationship. With love. Two three-way relationships where each person is in love with (at least) three others: Kaita partners and opposite-Kaita equivalent. Write that, EL James.
  3. A what now? Sounds needlessly confusing and like SJW bait Toa Kaita, my friend.I get that. What's a dual orbiting triad?
  4. Definitely an earth villager, you are. Personally speaking, I'm a fire villager; i hate the cold, I'm acrophobic, and I'm not fit enough to swim/walk everywhere. I'd probably be the one villager telling Two-kua about the Toa, since i love stories.

  6. I thought LoSS looked a little too alive to be a Skull. So Grinder's the king, but LoSS is the psychic link. Wait, does that mean that the other Bull-Skull Masked creatures are more free-willed? That would mean Basher could have an identity of his own, while the Skull spider-wearers are under LoSS' complete control.
  7. Well, since the Summer of the Skulls has arrived, it's time for a little retrospective. I would like to know; how have you customized your Winter Wave sets? Toa, Protectors, LoSS, all are valid. Personally, I've modified Lewa, Onua, Kopaka, Tahu and Pohatu to greater or lesser degrees; I've dropped Lewa's gearbox and added pins allowing his axe-blade-wings to sit backward from his arms rather than perpendicular to them. Onua has a longer shaft for his hammer, and a Mata neck piece attached to the whole shaft can be stored on his back like a jaunty aerial. Tahu has a pair of Chi Fluminox gold add-ons on the back of his legs, continuing the flared look the chest armour gives on his lower legs. Kopaka and Pohatu both have the Rahkshi staff replaced with something more appropriate; one of Kopaka Nuva's Ice Blades on Kopaka-Koto's spear, and that curved knife from the Phantoka small sets on Pohatu. I also fully admit to copying the following ideas; Pohatu now carries his boomerangs along the back of his arms, and Gali's flippers join into a mermaid tail. Now, what're yours? PS: yes, i remember there was a thread about this ages ago, but I didn't want to necro. That's for Skull Grinder to do, not me.
  8. Depends on when, I'd say. I really like G2 and think it has a lot of potential, but I don't think any generation of BIONICLE has to last forever, and I certainly don't think a generation ending is reason enough to completely give up on the theme. Bionicle can be Lego's flagship Constraction line with reboots every decade or so. Other lines can use constraction, not claiming bionicle should be the only line, but keeping incarnations of bionicle circulating could be a decent strategy.
  9. Is a spinning jump slash going to be one of Tahu's regular things now? Because if so, we need at least one enemy to duck under the swords and smack him to the ground. Probably Makuta. I think that it's been implied since the start that the Skull( spider)s were brought to life by the power of the MoCr. So seeing Grinder wake the others with it? Expected. The combo model being a cannibalized Scorpio for power I guessed at. Now for new theories; The MoCr is kept in a forge, but not to melt it down; Grinder is more or less immune to the heat, while Ekimu and the Toa are not (even Tahu would have to think twice about shoving his hand into a pot of molten gold/elements). Hence why Grinder uses the staff to lift the MoCr in and out; he puts it on, uses it, then puts it back when he's done, both keeping it out of sight and protecting it from interlopers. Perhaps Grinder is the corpse of a former Mask Maker, given new life by Makuta's MoUP.
  10. Are you just making LG couples on purpose? For some reason the Vhisola X Nokama one makes sense... I don't why... Nuhrii x Vakama is also a LG couple that makes a certain amount if sense. Largely for the same reasons
  11. And TLG have learned to keep a story running for years and keep a fan base alive, with China and Ninjago. Feel free to correct me, but those two themes are better indicators of tone and complexity for G2 than G1.
  12. If only the barraki never happened.More the Barraki than the DH Contest, because half of the DHs are or can be considered unique mutations or crafted beings. The barraki were seven new beings in a world that already seemed crowded.
  13. Scientifically speaking, like rocks and earth are chemically identical solids, and water and ice are two different expressions of the same chemical, fire (flames, specifically) and lightning are both plasmas; ionized gases with such energy that they express it as heat, light and sound. Lightning is much hotter and burns out quicker, but they're the same, scientifically speaking. And before anyone posts a .gift of Greg laughing while dismissing real life physics from Bionicle, the OQ was indeed about real life physics; "why have earth/stone and ice/water differentiated?"
  14. Toa of *reasonably different*. Sure, Earth and Stone are the same thing, but they're very different visually. Similarly Water and Ice. Fire and lightning are the same way. Air doesn't have a counterpart, though. No common substance shares enough with air while being visually distinct... Smoke, perhaps? Light and Shadow are one of the Great Dualities, so no questions there.
  15. The Great Cities have fallen! Scattered to the winds, the citizens of the once-great civilization now live in villages, divided, preyed upon by the legged-serpent servants of the Lord of Shadow. Their villages are safe; but more and more of the Trade Roads fall and are lost. Each of the villages are certain they are the last outpost of civilization. And they're losing ground fast. The Village of Fire boldly defends their home, the walls surrounded by a moat of lava. Their obsidian knives glisten sharply in the watchfires, and great cats are kept to strike at those who come too close. The Village of Water is anchored in a quiet harbour surrounded by tall cliffs. Few who live here have ever set foot on the land, instead perfecting their spearwork and training their shark allies. Deep in the jungle, high off the ground, the Village of Jungle relies on camouflage and great hawks to avoid the serpents combing the forest floor. With their keen vision and fine aim, the Jungle Tribe's arrows hold invaders at bay. Few find the Village of Earth nestled in the dark tunnels. Fewer still escape the vigilance of the Earth Tribe's crab-mounted cavalry, more that willing to smash any intruders into the cavern walls with their clubs. The inland Stone Tribe ride lizards as they comb the sand, never setting up home in any one place. Only those who know the oases like they will ever find these masters of staff combat. High in the whistling mountains, the Village of Ice hone their bodies into fine weapons. Their icy homes are hidden amongst the caves of huge bears, who hardly need the Villagers to keep serpents away from their shared homes. Yet in the darkest times, one villager dreams of more. The fire villager Takua finds his mind occupied by dreams of the world past. Setting off along the Trade Roads, he visits each of the villages in turn. In each, he is rebuffed, but in each finds a kindred spirit and ally; From the village of water, the excitable fisherwoman Macku. In the jungles, Tamaru, who longs for the ground beneath her feet. Taipu, strong, loyal, bit slow of both body and mind, joins them from the Village of Earth. The bold coward Hafu finds them in the wind-scored desert. Few of his fellows have time for his boasts, and patience for his true timidity. At last, the silent Kopeke joins them. On their journey, they find stones that pulse with power; marked with the signs of their village. Led to a forgotten ruin, they find tools, weapons, and masks that grant them power. They are transformed both through their journey and the power in the stones! They are Toa! First Year: Meet our heroes. The Company (small sets) sets out on their travels, overcoming battles with the legged-serpent servants (Rahkshi. Medium sets) and their own faults to find the Old Power that transforms them from mere villagers to Champions of their Element. Year Two: The new Champions (medium sets) return to their villages to discover they have become prophesized heroes, though their fellow villagers are still loath to accept the idea of workong with the other villages. The Leaders (small sets) send them to discover the source of the Shadow's power, yet the Shadow now sends out greater servants to destroy this new threat (Large sets. Two or three Rahi/Dark Hunter-esque creatures). Year three Having bested the 'Hunters', the Champions lead their villages (armed villager small sets) in an assault on the Shadow's stronghold. Though the villagers cannot break the Lord of Shadow's power alone, their combined power forces the serpent servants back. The Champions enter the stronghold, fighting their way towards the Lord of Shadow's throne room, where they confront him (Large Set.) Upon his defeat, they discover greater tools and Masks of Power the Lord had kept secret (Nuva-transformations medium sets). The peace is restored, and the villages are united; yet greater threats await... Year four onwards? ... Perhaps an external threat. Perhaps elemental monsters, aquatic warlord invaders... Whatever seems natural from there. Yeah, I know, pretty generic. I liked the MNOLG, and the Chronicler's Company, so decided to let the first year be a simultaneous 'coming of age' for the heroes and world-building for the setting. Perhaps the next step is to bring other villains in; Vortixx-esque lords who lead Skakdi-like armies on Visorak.
  16. well, that got pretty steamed pretty fast, tell me, what does the incessant need to argue against gender-identity-inclusive plastic robots feel like? This one just thinks it's kinda pointless, given the setting. If we were talking about LotR elves or MLP horse-variants, creatures that have mental and physical gender like humans, then let's go.
  17. "I'm a Ga-Matoran" "Your armour is bright red, your mask is yellow, and you live over a pit of lava with a pet phoenix chick" "Yes, but I'm a Ga-Matoran." Yeah, no. Transgender is hard enough to get people to accept in reality, let alone a fictional universe of robots where there's no physical representation of gender besides colour. What's stopping a "transgender" matoran painting their armour a different colour and moving to a more appropriate tribe? Nothing. I'm not against minority representation by any means, but you do have to learn when you're including just for inclusion's sake, or you'll end up with a Toa team of 23, just to make sure every possible gender feels represented. Unless you're actively making gender debate part of the story, or the character's gender enriched their character, there are 6 genders/orientations to use when talking about robotic/biomechanical beings: Heterosexual MaleHomosexual MaleBisexualAsexualHomosexual FemaleHeterosexual FemaleMost of the rest are variations on those or physical/mental gender disconnects. When a character has no physical gender, or an easily changed physical gender, there's no point to being trans. The main problem for humans is that physical gender isn't easily changed, and gender-reassignment surgery is difficult and only recent. A matoran doesn't have to worry about being trans, because their armour colour could be changed very quickly by paint, and therefore their physical gender as well.
  18. Re: storing spare masks; i put them on metru hand pieces (y-joints?) slid over a Mahri gill-pipe. I attached that to a limb as a grip, and bow I have Marendar carrying the golden masks like trophies. "Marendar the Mask Collector"
  19. What the heck are matoran going to identify as if they're 'otherkin'? Skakdi?
  20. Make smaller... G2 not existing is denialism, not headcanon, though the others count.
  21. Skull scorpio is a pile of rotting corpses fused, so perhaps it is poisonous
  22. Well, matoran would be horrible at clearing the island, so they were added to the ranks of the Va. Lewa could function as a Kal, so he was put into that position. Generic Rahi might be better in any one of those positions, so would be integrated into the swarm where there talents fit.
  23. Krakalin seems most popular, even though it was originally a joke. I'll go with it as well, with JMSOG's reasoning.
