  1. Possessiob is right. The skull spider masks put the wearer under LoSS', and therefore Kulta's, control. The newly dubbed "bull skull masks"? No clue.
  2. Don't be pedantic. That's the chemical level, so inapplicable. I never said elemental power was the construction power, but the energizing method. Kulta (at first) and his servants (later) could build the bodies and use elemental power to awaken/revive/energize the construction. In that sense, they'd be more like bone/flesh golems than traditional zombies.
  3. No. The Masters should not carry blasters like the latter years of G1. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that no medium/large wave should have blasters as a wave-wide thing. I do like the idea of a few individuals having them, Vakama Metru's disk launcher, for all its problems, gave him a very distinctive look. Skull Warrior (I think) stands out as well because of his crossbow/sword weapons. It should be an accent, and addition to the design, not a unifying feature or a gimmick.
  4. ^Couldn't put it better myself. Let's get back to discussing the zombified whatever-they-are that is the Skull Army. The words "awaken" and "comrades" somewhat imply that the Skull Warriors had individual existences in the past, and are now being resurrected. It would certainly be an unconventional use of the word "undead" if they are in fact new amalgamations of parts, who didn't exist before as individuals (newborn babies aren't referred to as "undead" ). But like Lyichir pointed out, Frankenstein's monster is considered a form of undead because it is built from dead parts. Is it not unthinkable that there are more "Skull Warriors" pre-assembled, and the elemental energy stolen from the mask is their metaphorical lightning bolt, waking the collection of Protector parts to life. So while they may be "awakened" "Comrades" it doesn't necessarily prove that they had a living existence. The blades, chains and blasters could all be Ancient City-Protector weapons that the Village-Protectors left behind/lost and haven't been able to re-forge without the Ancient City's resources.
  5. It's a bunch of zombies turned into a giant scorpion. it adds both 'eww gross' and 'eww awesome' to the typical lineup of robot(?) zombies, which have been used in so much media in the past ten years that ninety percent of people, when zombified, would seek celebrity status rather than brains.
  6. :stop: T1S, Quisoves, can you agree that Ekimu's set form (Mask Maker) is the most likely form people, and children, will picture him in this year when reading the book? Now let's step back. We take Mask maker as being either Ekimu fresh out of the box (Old, wrinkled, weakened) or Ekimu after having been rejuvenated by the MoCr/his magic banhammer. The former is unlikely, considering the dynamic pose he's shown in on the box. So we can then guess that the mask maker is supposed to be rejuvenated Ekimu. This rejuvenated Ekimu is the one which the animations show in episode 00, smacking Makuta's face with a hammer. Does this mean the Mask Maker is how Ekimu the character is supposed to look, and the weakening is the effect of being in the coffin for so long like G1's Toa Mata? I'd say so. That then means that Mask Maker is Ekimu as he's supposed to be, and it's very unlikely we'd be getting an 'upgrade' next year of him that isn't an actual upgrade or armouring up. Ekimu is Mask Maker. Mask maker is Ekimu in his natural, non-mummified state. Now, I'm not saying there isn't a possibility of Ekimu upgrading, or that TLG is using the Mask Maker to represent Ekimu during the animations when they really picture him as Toa-sized, but what I am saying is that it's an awful lot of effort for no gain. Let's let that debate rest now, OK? Back to the OP: The Skulls could be multiple Protector-sized skeletons rebuilt into Toa-sized creatures. Like they (Makuta, Kulta, the Okotoan Skeleton-Rearrangement Committee) took the shin 'bones' of two City Protectors and used that amount to create a shin 'bone' twice as big.
  7. I have LoSS on the television, surrounded by Skull Spiders. The Toa stand on my desk, in a triangle formation. I plan to put Ekimu with the Toa and Kulta next to his pet bug, where they can leer at each other backed up by their allies.
  8. I really like this idea; however, there is the fact that the Toa seem to "come from the stars." I think the constant planetary/stellar imagery in various places (boxes, animations, website, etc) seems to say that there is more to it than the Mask of Time. If time was the only factor, then wouldn't they just have randomly showed up in the basic geographic location where they had been standing in their previous time period? While I am with you on the Skull Villains being undead Toa, I think there is a more complex way that they ended up on Okoto. Also, if the Toa were summoned with the Mask of Time, how were the baddies summoned? The TV spot seems to imply the use of the Mask of Creation, however, I feel that there's something more interesting going on. Perhaps involving a certain Mask of Control? The Mask of Creation applied to piles of bone and/or corpses. The Mask creates. What it creates out of what is more likely the user's decision. Give it to a undead (Kulta) and he can create more undead with it, since he's got a graveyard nearby. The Mask of Control might be what gave Kulta his drive: "Find the Mask of Creation and Destroy all who come for it" is a pretty efficient hypnotic suggestion.
  9. Personally, i like the Normal Masks. The Golden Masks are clipped to a 'rope' on my giant dragon warrior's hip. I don't, nor will I ever, own the fancy exclusive masks.
  10. In my typically creative way, I was saying that if A controls B, that doesn't make B the same thing as A. I put my hand in a puppet to amuse a kid, the puppet isn't me. So it's very likely your hope is correct.
  11. In the same way a sock is the guy with its hand in it making weird gestures.
  12. Anger issues aren't necessarily fire. They were Tahu1's thing, but not all of us.
  13. Pretty sure that's supposed to be the result of the shockwave from the hammer. I read it as part surprise, but mostly the result of the shockwave Onua produced. Say the PoS flinched, but the shockwave threw her in the air.
  14. Undead Toa-species? I can get behind that. Actually... Taken that the Toa arrived via some manipulation of Time, and that the Ancient City was obce inhabited by Toa-sized beings, would it not be too outrageous to assume that the Toa were called from Okoto's distant past, when their kind (bigger, stronger elemental warriors) was more common? The resurrection of Kulta and the Skulls is the bad guys trying to call their own 'Toa' to the field. Without the Temple of Time, however, they have to resurrect their Ancient Heroes in a different way; a way that robs them of their essential heroism...
  15. I wonder if it was to save on piece count? You need a couple of extra pieces to retain the shoulder armour. -NotS Not(S) to my knowledge. I lowered the gearbox shortly after I bought him, separated from my collection. I might be wrong, but I'm sure I lowered the box without extra parts and kept the shoulder armour in place.
  16. Seems to be one of, if not the, most common alteration to the Winter sets. I wonder why Lego didn't just have it lowered?
  17. "It's a reboot, because we wanted to do something different." Three years later "Kidding, it is a continuation of the story, and now we're going to pull a RE5 and dump all the backstory on you in one year because we think it's all really cool and should be included now." Yeah, no.
  18. If the two generations absolutely had to be linked, this would likely be the best way to do so. The giant robot thing better not be the point of the story like it was last time, though.
  19. My personal theory is that the MoUP is sentient, and therefore the true villian of G2. Kinda like a cross between an evil Ignika and the Vahi from G1.
  20. G2 is its own entity and forcing G1 story onto it can only end badly. However, I have a few extended universe headcanons; - The animals of Okoto have fled away from the skull spiders, either heading for other landmasses or hiding in burrows or dens. That's the main reason why we haven't seen any. - Skull Spiders are undead, like Scorpio. They're just a skull with legs, hence the fear most villagers and animals feel. - LoSS is one of the few living creatures left on Okoto. It is trained enough to know what the Masks look like, but otherwise operates on instinct. The skull spider village invasions aren't to find the mask, but LoSS getting hungry and the swarm being 'distracted' until Kulta gives LoSS a Spider Snack.
  21. Alright, there can be that alternate universe. What does that have to do with G2?
  22. Zombies and spiders vs Toa for magic mask. Good brother vs bad brother for mask.
  23. Added on my head canon; Akamai is male, so are his component parts, Wairuha is female, and so are her component parts. Feel free to 'correct' the individual Toa to fulfill your personal gender preferences.
