  1. Vahki are corrupt cops, that's bad, Boxor are, at worst, walking corpsewagons, that's creepy but not really terrible. Vahki are technologically more sound but, they're also only marginally less terrible thantheir predacessor so...? (alternative, combine them, Vohxores? Borkxhi? Voriki? i dunno)
  2. whoah why are we talking about manipulating the masses now? what happened? what?
  3. Well, the conept is there, and it is a fine lookign model but, i dunno, doesn't seem "right" after 2015's many varied forms to go back to the sort of round edges and metallic coatings that worked in 2002, you did a good job catchign the feel of the nuva but i must say i don't think that's a feel that would grab much attention in this new bionicle. o:
  4. Adult fans tend to have, ah, touchier triggers, than child fans, and are also harder to please, sure a child might dislike a thing and go on a rant about it, but lets be honest, adult fans of especially child-oriented products are as lot more likely to ooze outright hatred than someone from the younger audience. (see, adult reactions to, say, Ninjago.) tbh, the peopel comparing to the Bionicle STARS are just being either pessimistic because of their viewpoints, or "optimistic" because they hate Bionicle G2, i mean come on guys, the STARS weren't even that bad.
  5. the "mace" piece is actually a morningsta- actually, oyu know what? that's petty of me, nevermind. not as fond of these as i am of the last set, but since the last set was haloween/monster themed i may be biased.
  6. they are apt human analogues for sure, even if that was not the authorial intent, it still holds true. o:
  7. i try not to get the awkward flow of set design confused for hard canon species-rules, it gets messy. x: do remember, after all, that the nuva are supposed to be as-tall-as the mahri/inika, (which they aren't) and that all in-canon reasons for even jsut matoran looking different have been.. equally messy. (rebuilt, degenerated/shrunk, mutated, mutilated...) mostly i'd say it's armor/parts styles and that's it, the nuva all wear similar armor (displayed as smae to save costs on new molds) and the rest follow suit, though with their own team styles. (notably, they get less directly clone-y as time went on so this becomes less of an issue)
  8. I find makuta to be relatable this generation, for I too am reduced to a set of "evil eyes" o:
  9. a true test of character acting, they gotta read the toa mantras from the character videos last year. u:
  10. they're not kids, they're teenagers! teenagers that are hopefully not of the genetically malformed carapacian reptile variety...
  11. Interestingly, though Bionicle features violence, it seems to run by the rule of most childrens' fiction where violence is mostly employed by the bad guys. because even though the toa had swords and they were using them as one does, the violence was generally kept down to disabling a foe by simply knocking their mask off, wheras the villains of years 1-3 were based around destruction and deaht and doom and gloom etc. (bohrok, rahkshi, feral beasts...) plus, your characters being robots allows oyu to get away with a lot more violence than usual. o:
  12. Finally, a Friends set that appeals to peopel who like rugged outdoors adventures, scientific research of the cosmos, blasting rebel scum on the surface of the death star, and nights out under the stars, I think it has the right mix of details, even if the plant's a bit tall for a shrub and a bit stumpy for a tree. x:
  13. The Great Beings are actually the Man Upstairs, and, thusly, all Will Ferrell. this is canon.
  14. yay! no more gearbox and six-shooter mockups! but uh, where's the piston and skull add-ons? those are, imo, pretty important to a bionicle parts update. x: (i mean, so are masks but as said those do offer an unusual connection point wheras these are just more shell add-ons...)
  15. Could you state your evidence for this? IMO, the proof is in the name.I think lots of people are over analyzing this, and just grasping for straws at this point But the name is just "Quake Beast", not "Earthquake Beast"! For all we know, it could be referring to waterquakes or icequakes or firequakes or junglequakes! Wrong, he's called Quake beast because he can't bring himself to fight, it's a very important part of his character arc and will be explored in the next episode.
  16. Whaaat? the spring-shooter? that's in LDD, i should know, i used it several times. :0
  17. hm, tempting, but i'm nowhere near the level of some of the folks i've seen win in the past. x: still, tempting...
  18. I check them when making a topic juuuuuuuust to be sure i don't get some hideous consequence for doing something wrong by mistake. x: they're pretty clear, a lot of the more obtuse ones (no youtube links, no mention of outside forums, the inability to use certain mundane words due to insulting potential, etc etc etc.) have been cropped out and those that remain (no porn no cursing etc) seem like reasonable things to expect on a Bionicle site. o:
  19. I'll admit these basically look like kopaka/tahu w/ a few extra armors on but: Were we remembering the same G1?
  20. G1 Onua couldn't control Crystal. yeah that is true, but given Quake is covered in purple spiky crystals, and the region of earth's main motif is purple spiky crystals and Onua's Elemental energy is purple i'm mostly willing to bet gemstones are a thing he can manipulate this time, so i don't see how an element of crystal would work, aside from probably overlapping ice and earth?
  21. that is a lovely model with good detail n some cool techniques, however it does kidna highlight Lego's glaring dinosaur size discrepancy, the thing doesn't even fit in the building!
  22. but i have to ask now, what exactly makes it important to have crystal be distinct from earth? earth vs stone is already a bit of a stretch, tug crystals out of Onua's grip and he's kinda thin on things he can control. :0
  23. i think, then, the ninja themed television show you're referring to has a bit more... carapace, than Ninjago. :u
  24. ...really? pardon my saying this but, I also turn 20 this year and i kinda always... assumed you were older than me, wow. x:
  25. Nah, Quake's Earth for sure, it's a primarily black creature with purple crystalline accents, and purple crystals have been a major motif for the Earth element this tiem around. o: (crystal would honestly be some sort of sub-element to earth if included. as most non-ice crystal structures are considered minierals/rocks o: )
