  1. Thanks for coming back to reply, you don't see that very often around here.I made a few quick masks in Photoshop to look at colors and the grey looked terrible. I didn't save the grey versions, but I did upload a few of the better looking theoretically possible color combos. Here they are. Please forgive the lackluster Photoshop skills they demonstrate. The only one I can do with my current parts selection is the gold tubes with white highlights, but I figured I'd save them all for your benefit.Everyone else: thank you for your input.
  2. I do agree about the tubing, but there isn't much I can do about it. My two pieces of black tubing are too short for the long part, and I don't have any 2 units long. Silver looks terrible so gold is really my only option. It doesn't look that bad so I figured I'd go for it. I did a quick mask in Photoshop, though, and you're probably right; the black tubes would probably be the best optionAbout the Rahkshi heads: I agree but again, not much I can do about that. I was stuck on that spot for a long time. They're basically the only piece that would fill in the HF leg armor.Studs: again not much that can be done about that, as far as I know. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
  3. This has been in the works for a while and I recently got the pieces I needed to finish it, so I now present the Smooth Industries MH-91 "Dvojka" starfighter.BottomSideBackGallery (when public)The bottom is obviously not good and the back isn't much better, but there's not much I can do about that. I've tried.CC appreciated.
  4. I'd go with all of the original Great Kanohi, as well as both versions of the Huna, Faxon, Arthron, Kualsi, Kraahkan, and the Vitruvian man Ignika. Long list, I know, but if I had to pick one it would have to be the original Hau simply because it was basically the face of Bionicle.
  5. 5. Just FYI, according to BS01, Tahu's masks did get destroyed.10. Heh, that's embarrassing. I always imagined it as being a much shorter trip than that, but yeah a few corkscrews around the Barrier or a few sharp turns would have done the trick. I think what primarily confused me is that I got the impression that they came out of the tunnel in the middle of the ocean looking at the island in the distance, but reading back through I see there is absolutely nothing that suggests that.17. Fair enough, it just seemed to me like the majority of Matoran jobs were rather unnecessary.18. I was actually thinking specifically of the Skakdi when I asked that question, because they clearly did a great job at whatever it was they were supposed to do . I know, glitches, Makuta interference, etc.@Nuva-- Logically, I'll probably have to concede this to you, but emotionally: all of those actions the Nuva did were planned by Makuta until the conclusion of 2008. I admit I didn't pay as close attention to the story 2010 as other years, but as far as I could tell with Tahu vs. Rahkshi, basically Tahu got dressed and all of the Rahkshi died. I don't remember how much of a role the other Nuva played in that, honestly I don't really care because I dislike the Golden Armor as an idea anyway. I don't see the whole destiny thing killing Makuta as a victory of the Nuva, as far as they know, they got really lucky. Don't remember what you mean by them saving Mata Nui's life.I didn't mean to say they should have just given up, I was just missing a straight up "Toa Nuva get together and thrash Makuta as he tries to threaten them." Unreasonable on my part, but seeing a rematch of the 2001 battle giving the Toa some extra advantage so they would actually stand a chance and then having them beat him would have been very satisfying to me. Again, not sure how it could happen story wise, but I wanted the Nuva to have some kind of individual win that wasn't planned by the bad guy. I think this feeling stems primarily from how badly the Piraka beat them back in 06. Such as the Nuva Symbols and the random Kanohi Nuva everywhere? Possibly. However, BS01 states that his mask was lost. Not sure why some guard would grab the symbol but leave the masks... unless it was a split-second decision and the guard was all but walking on lava. *snip* ...I really have no idea. There's the possibility that he didn't want to claim any of the masks as his, though, and that he felt his Hau would be the most recognizable "face" for the Matoran.*snip* I'm fairly sure that the prison prevented Kopaka from using his ice powers (though why he didn't just freeze Avak over without any kind of beam I have no idea).*snip* As far as I'm aware, yes. Of course, it's still massively overpowered, as almost every MU being both is made of and carries some form of metal. I've always thought that the Piraka's "extra powers" didn't get much thought. Reidak was totally invincible as long as he didn't die in one hit, Vezok could imitate as many powers as he liked, whenever he liked (and any powers, including elements), Avak could instantly and unbeatably imprison anyone as long as he knew their weaknesses and powers, Hakann could infinitely spam mental blasts and drive enemies insane at no cost to his own stamina, Thok could bring anything - even a mountain - to life, and Zaktan had no power but was made of a cloud of prodotites, which essentially made him immune to any attack he could anticipate and move enough of his body away from.@Bohrok Kal-- Yeah, that's pretty much what I was reffering to, though I've convinced myself to accept the Nuva Symbol=battery pack theory that I think I saw in the threads pertaining to it. My bigger issue is actually the Nuva cube itself.5. That's why I was confused as well, maybe Tahu stopped trusting the Matoran and just carried it with him? :P9. He could wear the Hau most of the time, just use the Suva whenever. I feel that as the last defender of Metru Nui, he could use all of the power he could get. I guess switching masks was just not something the story team wanted to deal with anymore.14. I understand the cage likely would have prevented it, but Kopaka wasn't even shown trying.21. I was just clarifying because in Makuta's Revenge/one of the Kal comics Gahlok Kal is shown magnetizing Lewa's feet to the ground so I wanted to make it was simply a magnetic field created wherever undergraound rather than a magnetic attraction between his feet and the ground.@Piraka powers-- Very much agreed, but Reidak always struck me the most because of the scene where he's surrounded by the Nuva and he just won't stay down. That was just unfair. At least the rest of them would go down if they were hit hard enough (except Zaktan). Speaking of Zaktan, why did he bother with legs if protodites fly?Anyway, thank you very much for the answers guys.~Legoman
  6. So I've been practicing my writing by rewriting the main Bionicle story with some differences, depending on what I feel works. Thinking about how I am going to handle some things, I've run into questions that some of you may or may not be able to help with. Rather than make a bunch of topics over time, I thought of as many as I could and compiled them all at once.1. I'm assuming the Turaga hid the Great Kanohi on Mata Nui, so why didn't Makuta just destroy the masks? The masks were unnecessary to awaken Mata Nui, and there was no need to give the Toa more power. Maybe it amused him to let the Toa search for a tiny bit more power knowing it would not help them in the long run? Pretty minor question with no real effect, I'm just curious.Exo-Toa2. What was the purpose of the Exo-Toa in the Bahrag lair? My personal theory is that they were supposed to protect the Bahrag while they were asleep, but I have no evidence.3. Why would Exo-Toa prevent the use of elemental powers?4. Why did the Exo-Toa in the Bahrag lair attack the Bohrok-Kal? Were they operating on the goals of the Toa Mata as the last people who used them?A lot of the Bohrok Kal saga didn't make sense so I'll ignore it for now.Suva5. How did Tahu's Nuva symbol survive the destruction of the Suva? Did some quick-thinking guard grab it?6. I assume the Suvas did not always exist on Mata Nui and the Turaga made them based on some prior knowledge?7. The Suvas on Mata Nui seemed to be attached to the ground, so I assume the Toa/Turaga simply carried the individual masks and Nuva symbols down to Metru Nui?8. Could multiple Toa use the same Suva?9. Why didn't Lhikan use the Suva and abundance of masks in the Great Temple?10. How did travel between Mata Nui and Metru Nui work? I never understood this. The Toa Metru were able to get to Mata Nui by boat, yet Mata Nui is directly above Metru Nui. I assume the airships were able to fly through some cave systems in Mata Nui Robot's face to come out on the surface, but I never understood how they were able to sail upward.11. How did Vakama know the teleportation disk he launched at a fleeing Nuhrii would bring him closer and not send him further away?12. What was the point of the Morbuzahk? I think I read on BSO1 it was supposed to drive all Matoran to the Coliseum where they would be encapsulated, but disguised as Dume, Teridax could just call an assembly to bring them all together, which is what he ended up doing, anyway.13. Why didn't Makuta kill the Toa Metru? As far as I can tell, if all of the Matoran were encapsulated and the Metru dead, his plan would work just fine, and I don't think he should have had any trouble dispatching six inexperienced Toa. Instead he played a game of cross the street without getting hit by a car and got himself imprisoned.14. When Avak trapped Kopaka in his mental prison, why didn't Kopaka attack Avak directly instead of focusing on the cage?15. Are the powers listed for Axonn and Brutaka the full extent of their abilities, or is it unknown exactly how much they can do? Again, just curiosity.16. I may have overlooked this while reading the books, but why did Makuta send the Piraka to Voya Nui? Was it just to get himself into a position where he could directly affect event when things weren't going exactly how he wanted them to?Some Bigger questions:16. How exactly did the Matoran's work in Metru Nui keep Mata Nui alive? They provided resources like tools, but they didn't seem to ever do anything that directly affected the Robot besides liquid protodermis purification and solid/molten protodermis reclamation. Because seriously, Po-Matoran carvers contributed absolutely nothing, as far as I can tell.18. What was the purpose of any species other than Makuta, Matoran, and Rahi? Not including some one-offs like Karzahni, Artahka, Tren Krom, and some of the Hand of Artahka/OoMN members.19. What was the purpose of Matoran outside Metru Nui? I assume maintenance, but we never saw that happening and if they were maintenance crews, wouldn't it have been better if they knew why and what they were maintaining (Big Robot).20. Why didn't anyone know they were in a big robot? Was it to prevent anyone from getting ideas like Makuta?21. Almost forgot. Does magnetism affect only magnetic substances (metals and magnetic rock)? So it would be mostly useless in a purely organic environment. And while I'm making a long list of questions, I'm going to throw in some opinions as well:Reidak's power is ridiculous and terribly defined. Is anyone else frustrated by the fact that, in hindsight, the Toa Nuva never won? Every victory they had as a team was already predicted and expected/hoped for by Makuta. And they were the central characters of the story and were the most powerful Toa and everything. It's just kind of a downer whenever looking back at the story ever since Makuta took over the MU in 2008.~Legoman
  7. Alright, much more of a response than I was expecting. Thanks guys. Before I reply to individual quotes, I'm going to go ahead and say the head is deliberately low to create the hunchback. That, along with digitrade legs, is something I've always thought Skakdi needed so you can't convince me to raise it. Not to mention I think it would look worse as a whole, not just as an image of a Skakdi in my mind. Yeah, the ankles are a bit restricted, but I figured it was better than the normal connection and there was no way I'd be able make custom feet at this size in dark green The third color would probably be a good idea, I didn't really think about it at the time, but apparently I do have a pair of black short double joints that I could use on the upper arms and it would take only a few more color changes after that to make it work. I originally had sand green as the tertiary color, but having only one Zaktan I didn't have enough of it to use evenly in all the joints.Ok, Darknut, I'm going to split your review into bite size chunks. Good to see you back in the game, welcome back. See above about the third color thing. As for the combination of black/gray, that was mostly me being impatient and not wanting to rip apart some MOCs or WIPs that I've been trying to keep together. Ideally all of the gray would be black. I was hoping I'd managed to hide most of the gray (not including the back) but it looks like you caught me. I'm glad you agree about the hunch. The black pegs are actually very deliberately placed; they keep the Metru feet from sliding down the shoulder. The issue with building behind the Metru feet is that there is no space back there. If I used black it would probably be possible, but not with my green. Fair enough. Those would be pretty simple things to fix. Thanks. There is some waist articulation which is actually used a little in the main pic, but because of the positioning of the joint it looks pretty bad if it's anything but straight. I spent a surprisingly long time trying to get rid of that pig in the thigh, but all of my solutions (including yours) forced the thigh to be thicker which didn't look so goo with the armor.I actually agree with the Inika armor on the shins, the shape is somehow not quite right. I like the shape and texture of Piraka thighs better but I thought they were a bit too bulky and it was too close to how the thighs looks. Repeating patterns is good, but not pasting the same thing over and over onto something. Thanks, it's goo to see you back online. Review was good as well, hit most of the points I disliked and a couple I didn't.Maybe I'll even give him his limbs back and try out some of your ideas. Maybe when I get bored (which won't take long).Thank you everyone for your feedback, it's appreciated.
  8. So this Zaktan Revamp is a few weeks old at this point. He was built for a contest but then I found out that due to my vacation coming up I would be unable to participate so here he is as a one day, rather minimalist build. The torso only looks good from the front, you can't see it in the back picture because the spine covers it up but his back is a complete mess. I'm very limited in dark green as I discovered and it probably would have been smarter to do Reidak or Vezok, but I don't like those color schemes as much. Here's a picture for you to admire:And here are some more:FrontBackSideGallery (of four pictures)Should you choose to express your thoughts on this MOC, please make your post worth reading.Edit: Image thumbnailed due to file size; please keep posted images in BBC to 100 kB.-Wind-Thanks, it's been a long time since I posted pictures and I forgot about that rule.
  9. Sounds like a fun theme; I'll see if I can get something together. I'm a bit limited right now because a lot of my red is tied down in WIPs, but if inspiration strikes I'll throw something together.
  10. I agree with 5x5. It would come to life better and be much more interesting if those details are included, even at the wrong scale. It would just be so much more fun, wouldn't it? But no figures, that would be going to far with messing with the scale.
  11. It looks good, I like aesthetic. The Jaller armor gives it a nice savage and/or crustacean feel.I do think some things could be done better, though. You filled in the sides of the treads pretty well, but mixing the smooth system with technic there doesn't look great. Some more red in the sides would look better, as well. I would also cover the treads, if at all possible.Aside from that, I think the front area could be much more aggressive and savage. Maybe some nasty spikes and definitely more robust armor. The gun looks good. The only thing I would tweak there is to give it a more substantial base that would go further back. You've got really big gun being held by a relatively small arm.But yeah, looks good, Oblivion.
  12. Alright, because I like to review stuff, I'm going to go individually. Rocka- Might be my favorite of the Heroes. His helmet looks alright, though I'm not a huge fan. I like the white hero core because he always had one, but I would prefer it if his eyes were white to match. The bow/crossbow is a good idea with the ammo belt coming out, but I'm iffy on the shield. It looks alright but I'm trying to think about how versatile a trans-lime flat hexagon patterned piece might be. More gold is nice, as usual. I do wish all bone pieces on a particular set would be either black or gray, though. The whole different colors for different lengths is a little irritating. Furno- For the red guy, there is surprisingly little red. I don't mind the old helmet, it makes me wish the Toa Mistika had had helmets that looks more like previous versions. I wish his core matched his eyes, or was at least a unique color. The tubes and turbines look pretty cool, though it's odd the Hero most associated with fire needs to go underwater. The trans-red shoulder armor is throwing me off, as are all of the white armor pieces. It's just odd. Not sure about the silver arm, either. Breez- Again, color issues. The core is white which I have stated I don't like, but more importantly, she has three different bone piece colors: red, white, and black. Not working for me. I do like seeing those shoulder pads in lime, and the launcher piece in red. The original Hero feet are an interesting choice as well. The white armor doesn't work for her any better than Furno. Back armor is interesting, even though it's just a hero foot. It'll probably look a bit strange, really. Surge- Colors, again. I don't like him suddenly being as lime as he is blue, and I don't really like the mix. The shoulder armor sticking up looks pretty bad as well, especially since it's silver. The recolored weapon looks much better than the old one, though. Evo- His helmet has me a bit torn. I like that it resembles his 2.0 form, but I really don't like the shape. The weak arm isn't looking too good, either. They still aren't giving us any variety in the yellow armor department, I would appreciate something other than size 4 and those big wide pieces. I'm most angry about his lack of purple, though. I was really hoping he would have it for some accents. Without it he's a bit too generic for me to bother with, I'm thinking. Jaw-blade- A shark with arms is a pretty new idea for HF, I must admit. It's a bit of an odd shape and I don't like the trans-orange armor on his body, but I think I like the design overall. He is a bit spikier than I would have made him. Furno blade recolors are nice, as well. Thornraxx- Hate the name, but he reminds me a lot of the Nui-Rama which were awesome. He looks to be an interesting build with quite a few pieces that I want. Whatever azure that is, I hope we see more of it in the future, it looks like a nice color. Who knows, maybe I'll even like it more than teal. Toxic-Reapa- Looks great. I really want those black shoulder pads and trans-lime armor could be useful. Those canisters look good. The only thing I'm don't like his his lack of shin armor. I'm also really happy those two-clawed feet are being redesigned. Split-Face- Pretty boring really, just a humanoid without much to set him apart besides the color split. I don't use gunmetal much in MOCing so the only thing that would draw me to him are those red round armor pieces. Maybe if they had chosen more interesting colors I would consider him. Black Phantom- Looks surprisingly good. I like the color scheme and mace. That build is getting old fast, though. I'm not liking the arms on his back either. Chances are I won't get him. I can get the majority of the pieces I want elsewhere so no need to spend $20 on something that doesn't blow me away. Misc- Overall the wave looks pretty good with some nice parts. We'll see if the Glatorian head will be redesigned, but considering that at least most of them use it, it should be. The redesigned Thornax launcher piece is interesting, too. Probably won't have many applications that the original didn't, but being shorter may make it useful in some situations.
  13. Good to know, I was wondering what happened to you. It's been a while.

  14. We called it safety or base.
  15. J6Crash

    Peloria

I agree with Zip about the wings, but otherwise this is fantastic.
  16. J6Crash

    Judging / Voting

I'm gonna go with The Alchemyst, though that Amalgam was pretty good, too.
  17. I've run into some problems with my build that I just don't have time to work on with school and soccer and whatnot. I really wanted to finish a MOC, too.
  18. So I'm now thinking about doing two MOCs but there's still no guarantee I'll finish either one. Now the main point of this post: I was thinking I might do ROAT8 But I was planning on going in a very different direction with it than you did. Pretty much I was planning on keeping the wheel design and maybe the head if I couldn't think of a better one. I might change the colors as well. So I'm thinking that would probably be a bit much so would it work if I changed the colors, kept the wheel design, kept the big hands small torso proportions, and maybe kept the head, would that be alright?
  19. J6Crash

    Yeah, So...

I have. I'll look into posting, though.
  20. I'll definitely try to enter but school is starting and because I'm a freshman I have no idea how difficult high school is. We'll see.
  21. Oh yeah, sorry. I'm Michael H.
  22. So what happened to my last pm? Have you been busy or did it get eaten or what? 'Cause both of us appear to be alive.

  23. J6Crash

    What.

That's the BBC for you. I might go comment on your dragon, then it will be one more than half as many.
  24. J6Crash

    New Project!

Pretty much what B6 said. I was always a little disappointed looking at the front half and comparing it to the back half. And if you finish I will be able to see it, which would be awesome.
  25. Those wings are brilliant. As is everything else that is visible, of course.
