  1. click the thumbnail or follow this link to view the full drawing I love the protectors' designs, so I decided to play around with things a bit. Adding some clothing seemed like a good idea and IMO looks quite cute, too. This has been the first proper drawing in days, thus the shield is extra-wonky. D: Apart from that I'm quite happy with the outcome, though. Originally there was also a loosely skteched background, but since the scanner didn't really pick that up it was mostly cropped out. Edit: since brickshelf is currently gone too (?) I have replaced the links; everything should work again.
  2. I think many Bionicle fans will agree that although Gen 1 Bionicle's story was pretty awesome, it had its share of flaws in both its content and the way it was delivered. Generation 2 represents a fresh new start for the line, whereupon I hope LEGO use what they've learned from some of Gen 1's precieved weaknesses to make Gen 2 have a great storyline (after they finish up that mediocre web series). I'll say what I hope LEGO will do with Gen 2's story, and then I's like to know what you guys think they should do. (I know I've kinda discussed this topic in "Will Bionicle Ever Reach Its full Story Potential," but I figured something more focused would be better for discussion). From what I personally believe, and from what I've gathered from other members on this forum, these are the completely subjective flaws of Gen 1 Bionicle: 1) The overall plot was too complex, requiring fans to read through multiple stories, presented through many forms of media (story serials, novels, graphic novels, movies, guidebooks) in order to fully understand. 2) The online story serials lacked structure, and were basically pointless side plots with no real effect on the main story. In particular Brothers In Arms had a weird ending. To me, they seemed kind of "fanfiction-y" (no offense meant to our lord and saviour Mr. Farshtey). 3) This one's kind of split between fans, but some people didn't like how Bionicle got darker with more Sci-Fi elements as the series went on. 4) Some people didn't like the sudden setting changes of the Ignition Arc 5) Some lore elements, such as romance being non-canon and the characters' 100,000 year life spans can be pretty restrictive/convoluted. 6) The Toa Nuva had poor characterization, as all 6 Toa were little more than shallow archetypes. This also applies to many of the villains. Also some fans want more female characters. Here's what I personally believe LEGO could do to make the Gen 2 story better: 1) Make the story less serialized, and more focused and concise. You shouldn't have to read online serial, comics, novels, and graphic novels to get the whole story. LEGO will probably minimize the amount of story media anyway. The story should also be pre-planned, instead of being made up as it's being written. This would allow the writers to fit a lot story into a small amount of media efficiently, without any of the excess plotlines in Greg's writing. 2) Make the story less complex, but still interesting. Gen 2 has to find the sweet spot between the immensely complex epic that was Gen 1, and the bare-bone frame that was Hero Factory. I wouldn't mind the story being slightly more light-hearted, but it has to have at least some darkness in it for it to be Bionicle in my eyes. 3) Keep the interesting parts of the story. While the lore could be less complex, fundamental elements like the matoran language and the various cultures of the matoran tribes should be kept, because they were what made Bionicle so unique. 4) Maintain a more consistent genre. Gen 2 has started out as fantasy, and for the most part it should stay that way. I wouldn't mind some Sci-Fi elements here, but nothing as drastic as the shift made in Gen 1. 5) Maintain well developed settings, and change settings less. It's no accident that people get attached to interesting places over time. It would be nice it Okoto was further developed, and if the Toa could stay on it for some time before going elsewhere. 6) Have actual character development. "Nuff said. And finally, 7) Allow romance. Also, not everyone lives 100,000 years. So, what do you guys think LEGO could do to Gen 2, to make it as good if not better than Gen 1?
  3. Here is a quick mod to the Lord of Skull Spiders. I completely rebuilt the torso and took out the grabbing gimmick to install a stud six shooter in his mouth. Cause of this I gave him articulated legs and a small abdomen. LXF file for those who want instructions (Couldn't attach the faceplate and the Gatling gun isn't there but other than that its the same build as the real life version http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/moloss.lxf Front http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss001.jpg Side http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss002.jpg Back (Showing where the gear is placed) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss003.jpg Top http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss004.jpg Bottom http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss005.jpg Mouth open and loaded with web shots (I've tested it and all six shots can be fired http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss006.jpg Skull Spiders attached to legs (Lens glare gives of an evil vibe to the eyes) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/takanuinuva/Bionicle2015/loss007.jpg Comments and criticism appreciated
  4. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread, I'm still new to the forum. Since Wairuha has a thread, it only seems fair that Akamai gets one as well, right? Gallery link:http://imgur.com/a/Bv3ew#0 I'm still not sure how to paste images here, so please bear with me. Feel free to give me your comments, questions, and suggestions. Thankyou.
  5. Thanks to some Bricklink orders that arrived today I can now show off my mods for the 2015 Toa One thing to mention with all of them except Onua. I built a custom torso since I didn't like the exposed ball joints on Tahu, Pohatu, Gali and Lewa. I didn't with Onua cause of his large chest piece. I won't show how its built until LDD updates. Till then feel free to guess how I built it. Also they all have silver armor save for Tahu and Kopaka's chest plates. I hope in later waves we get Silver Red or White printed chests for Tahu and Kopaka. Gallery when public http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=554632 Tahu I shortened his legs and change his feet from silver to red. Swapped out chest armor for Breakout version. I might change his eyes to orange once I get the summer sets. 6. YAY!!! I just thought we should share some love for Arzaki, whose birthday it is today(at the time of this post). So, bring some cake around, and talk about burning stuff, for it's his birthday, and that's it. YAY!!!

    NINJAGO 2015

Here's a theme where doing it anime style is appropriate, Ninjago! Here I made a giant banner containing all five Ninja in their new outfits in the 2015 story arc. I'll also be doing more Ninjago fan art as well, seeing as how this and my anime style mesh more easily than BIONICLE.

  9. Not much to say about this MoC. I loved all generations of gen 1 Pohatu (which cannot be said for his brothers and sisters in 2008...) due to his unique builds in comparison to the other 5 Toa. It carried through his 3 main forms. So I was disappointed at his bland set that came out this year. Whilst his wanderer motif was interesting, there was too much silver, a dull secondary weapon, and he was far too short in comparison to his brothers. So with a little tinkering I came up with this. I removed the transparent parts that I didn't enjoy looking at in exchange for the plain black limbs. The silver shells were replaced by yellow ones and moved to make his arms symmetrical. I took a spare shell from the Protector of Stone to keep that symmetrical aspect. His legs are longer and he is still shorter than Tahu Gen 2, so his stoutness from Gen 1 remains. And his new secondary weapon is a small throwing spear. And with these changes, his piece count, minus the golden mask and skull spider, would be 70. These two pictures of his back should show you where changes were made, should you wish to edit your own Pohatu. Back Shot Weapon Attachment Comments would be appreciated. I would really like to know what those who liked Pohatu's new set make of my edit, too. Thanks
  10. For sure? I just got told that it was confirmed that we were going to get it, so I wanted to make sure that I hadn't missed some information recently.
  11. I posted a blog entry requesting for story prompts. The quote below inspired this epic. I plan to dedicate each chapter to two of the battles between a Toa and a member of the Skull Army; I estimate that this epic will be approximately 6 or 7 chapters long. I shall be updating this epic as I write it; as such, you can expect Chapter 2 to go up within the next three days. THE CHAPTERS Story Topic 1 So - what are your thoughts? Which member of the Skull Army will each Toa fight? Which of the Toa shall fall, according to prophecy? Theorize! Comment! Critique and rip it apart! I beg of you!

  13. Takanuva, Master of Light (AKA Wacky Tacky-nuva) Was partially inspired by this MoC by a Master Builder of Takanuva vs Teridax found in a LEGO Store (The use of the Gold Mask of Water and the staff design). I ended up building this after experimenting on placing the large torso armour shell on an Inika base design. Like my Trinuma MoC, I really wanted to make it seem like it would belong in the 2015 line by adding similar action features. I also wanted to give Takanuva aspects of all his iterations throughout the years like the blaster (2008) and golden armour (2003). His weapons can be stored on his back. 14. So around last week I got a little stressed out from studying mid-terms so I decided to let off some steam and make a BBC#69 entry out of just the Gali and Tahu sets. It was a lot of fun, so I tore apart the rest of the sets I had on me and built a couple of random combiners. It was my first time building with CCBS so they turned out pretty basic. You can see the topic for my 2015 Trinuma moc here. Okoto Beast Built from Protectors of Earth and Jungle. I was inspired by Nescent's awesome Wildlife of Okoto topic and attempted to create something akin to a Rahi of the previous gen. Don't really have a backstory for it, but liked how it turned out. Gallery Skullion, Master of Skulls Built from Tahu, Gali and Lord of Skull Spiders. This one was fun to build. I wanted to make it look like the Lord of Skull Spiders was still living in Skullion's chest, so he has a bit of an action feature where it can "come to life", as seen below: The upper legs are connected to the back and a lever flips them up, allowing for a snapping motion (details in the gallery). It also allows for some varied armour designs. Even as a humanoid, the Lord of Skull Spiders continues to control his Skull Spider army. Gallery And as an added bonus, here's an old polaroid of my brother and I over 10 years ago with an original Matoran Kaita, a modified one, and a super omega Toa Kaita. -NotS
  15. So, a while back, I did a drawing of my Self-MOC using a rough emulation of the Okotomation style. A couple months later, Jakura Nuva asked if I could draw him. coincidentally, he and I were both part of The Kanohi Force (a minor club on here, which I helped initiate). I took the offer to the rest of the "Leedurship Board" and suggested that I do us all. The result is as follows: (Click link to view full image) Here's another that displays each individual. 16. Mata Nui, Master of Life Well, here's the first MOC I've posted online. When I heard about the new contest, I tried to figure out what character I could make out of my limited supply of Bionicle 2015 pieces (Tahu, Gali, and the Protector of Jungle). While there's more I would have liked to do with it, I'm still pretty happy with the results. I hope you like it. 17. I'm sitting on the train after Toy Fair, going through all the pictures I took, and figured I should ask everyone's input as to what we should focus on for our coverage. Bionicle will obviously be first up, but what comes after that? Cast your vote here to let us know what you're most looking forward to! Additionally, we're considering posting our pictures on Flickr as we have been for our convention coverage (see our BrickFair Alabama wrapup for an example). Would you prefer that or our 'classic' style (like last year's Hero Factory coverage)? Let us know!
  18. My interpretation of Takanuva 2015. Mostly hand-drawn with a couple of small edits in places due to bad colouring on my part I recoloured the eyes on MS Paint (yeah, I know) as they were too dark to see after scanning them. I also recoloured parts of the mask as the yellow blended with grey lines that I had drawn before going over in black felt tip. C&C appreciated for my first uploaded work Thanks guys!
  19. I posted a blog entry requesting for story prompts. The quote below inspired this epic. CHAPTER ONE: CHAMBER OF AMIIBO The old, weary Protector of Fire leaned heavily upon his staff as he shuffled forward, his gaze drifting to the walls on either side where carvings depicting the legends that had been passed down from generation to generation could be seen, lit up by the torches upon the walls. “Is it true, father?” At the sound of the excited, high pitched voice, the Protector of Fire turned to see that his son had - as usual - snuck down into the catacombs with him. Giving his son a small smile, the Protector of Fire turned back to look at the carvings thoughtfully before asking, “is what true?” “The legends,” his son breathed, racing forward and pressing himself against the wall as he reached up, trying to point to a series of carvings depicting six colorful figures. “Of the Toa who will save us from the Scalpers! Are they real?” “All stories are based in fact one way or another,” the Protector said slowly, resting a hand on his son’s shoulder. “And our legends are no different. The Toa shall arrive when it is time. Until then, we can only make do.” “I hope they come soon,” his son said, shivering with excitement. “I want to meet them! They’re so cool!” At that, the Protector of Fire let out a hearty chuckle, patting his son on the back before continuing on his way, gesturing for his son to follow him. The younger figure scampered on a head, skidding to a halt at the foot of a massive stone statue of what the legends foretold to be the heroic leader of the Toa - Tahu, Master of Fire, with his magma shield and golden swords. The two gazed at the statue in silence for several minutes before the Protector of Fire turned away. “Come, my son. We must return to the village, before our tribe begins to worry.” His son nodded, still staring at the statue as they walked away before saying the same thing as he always did: “Man, you are so cool.” ---[60 Years Later]--- “Man, you are so cool.” The Toa known as Tahu shifted uncomfortably in his red and gold armor as the old Protector of Fire, his back hunched over with age, circled him while muttering to himself. All that Tahu could remember was waking up in the middle of a giant crater that was smothered in flames. He could see the last few smoldering bits of what he assumed had been some sort of structure, but had been unable to get a straight answer from the Protector, who seemed to be in some form of shock. “Er, excuse me…” Tahu said, trailing off uncertainly before clearing his throat and speaking louder. “My name is Tahu. Could you please tell me where I am at this moment?” “Oh man even your voice is cool,” the Protector of Fire said, coming to a halt right in front of the Toa and staring up at him with wide eyes. “This is so awesome!” “Yes, I realize that,” Tahu said impatiently, “but I really need some answers. All I remember is my name, and all I have gotten out of you is your… title? I do not know what a Protector of Fire is, except that it appears to be you.” “Oh yes, yes, of course!” the Protector of Fire exclaimed, nodding quickly before turning away, gesturing for Tahu to follow him. “Come, come! Let us go to the cave! I would say that we should meet inside my house, but you destroyed it with your arrival. But that’s fine, I was thinking of building a new house for myself anyway. Let’s go to the cave instead, where we can-MMPH!” “Please stop talking,” Tahu said, his hand covering the Protector of Fire’s mouth. “All I want is some answers.” The Protector of Fire nodded, leading the way after Tahu released him with a small sigh. The Toa glanced around at the various villagers that had frozen in place, staring at him - with a start, they all returned to their work. Frowning, Tahu followed the Protector of Fire into the cave with a sense of trepidation. As they travelled deeper into the tunnels, he began to notice carvings on the walls. “What are these?” he asked, examining a red-colored mask carved into the wall. “This looks like mine.” “They’re carvings of you,” the Protector of Fire replied, grabbing his elbow and pulling him away. “Come on - there’s a reason you’re here, oh Master of Fire, and I must show it to you.” They wandered further into the catacombs, passing by carvings of strange skull creatures and of what Tahu presumed were other Toa like himself. However, he was clearly the most prominent character; whether he was just that important or it was simply his relation to the Fire Tribe was uncertain. The Protector of Fire was strangely silent as they travelled; Tahu was just about to ask how much longer they would have to walk when the Protector stopped before a plain stone wall and turned to him. “Are you ready?” he asked. “I do not know what to expect,” Tahu responded, shrugging. “Perhaps I am, or perhaps I am not. You have not given me any information.” “Spoilsport,” the Protector of Fire muttered, turning back to the wall and placing both of his hands on it. “Come on in.” The Protector of Fire pushed with all of his might, grunting with effort as a portion of the stone wall swung inwards, revealing a circular chamber within. There were more torches lining the walls of the chamber than there were in the tunnels outside, allowing the entire chamber to be visible. As he followed the Protector of Fire into the room, Tahu noticed eighteen elaborate pedestals spaced around the room. Upon twelve of the pedestals, he noticed twelve different plastic figures; the other six remained empty. “Welcome,” the Protector of Fire said, opening his arms dramatically, “to the Chamber of Amiibo.” “The chamber of what?” “The Chamber of Amiibo,” the Protector of Fire repeated, sounding disappointed. “Do you not… do you not know about Amiibo?” “I don’t know much about anything,” Tahu replied, tapping his head. “Amnesia, remember? All I know is my name. I don’t even know the name of this place.” “You’re in the Chamber of Amiibo,” the Protector of Fire said, as if it was obvious. “It is located within the caves of the Fire Village, which is in the Fire Region of the island of Okoto.” Frowning, Tahu nodded, sighing. “Alright. That has cleared up nothing, and I suspect that I shall remain confused for quite some time. Let us move on - this ‘Amiibo’ - what is it?” “Amiibo is not an ‘it’,” the Protector of Fire cried out, sounding aggravated. “Amiibo is a ‘they’, or a ‘them’! Please, be respectful!” Tahu buried his face into his hands, rubbing at his mask in exasperation. “Very well then. What are they? Please, just give me a straight answer. I am begging you to give me a straight answer.” “The Amiibo are a series of legendary plastic figures,” the Protector of Fire said, his voice taking upon a dreamy quality. “We do not know where they came from, but the legends state that amassing a complete collection will grant the owners a mysterious power. Two waves of Amiibo were once released on the island; enough figures for each of the six tribes to have dominion over a complete collection.” “That certainly sounds nice,” Tahu commented, glancing at the pedestals. “But I see only twelve figures here, and eighteen pedestals.” The Protector of Fire nodded, frowning before sadly continuing: “In the first wave of Amiibo, twelve figures were produced. Six more arrived in the second wave. While most of the figures are very common - dozens of certain figures exist - six of the figures were far rarer, with only six of each being produced. Just enough for every village to own one of each to complete their collection.” “And those are the six that you are missing,” Tahu guessed. “Indeed,” the Protector of Fire replied, nodding. “It’s not just us, though. All six villages lack the six rare figures, for they were all stolen long ago, before our ancestors could ever find them.” “Who took them?” Tahu asked. “We call them the Scalpers,” the Protector of Fire said darkly, his fist clenching in anger. “But they were once known as the Skull Army. They were six skeletal creatures who served Makuta, the Master of Control, before Makuta’s brother Ekimu defeated Makuta. When the brothers fell into an endless slumber, the Scalpers acted on Makuta’s final order, stealing the rare amiibo figures before retreating to parts unknown. They have not been sighted since, but we do have knowledge of the areas in which they must be hiding - besides, we must always be on guard, in case they decide to attack in full force again.” Tahu reflected back to the carvings of the skull creatures he had seen on the way down to the chamber - their various shapes and sizes. Frowning, he asked: “what do they hope to gain?” “The legends state that one of the benefits to amassing a complete collection of amiibo is that the owner might awaken either Makuta or Ekimu,” the Protector of Fire answered. “Awakening Ekimu is the only way that we could guarantee the destruction of the Scalpers and their endless army of Skull Spiders; but likewise, awakening Makuta is the only way for the Scalpers to guarantee the destruction of us. While we have done our best to hold onto the common amiibo figures, we have undoubtedly lost track of many through the years. For you and your fellow Toa to have finally arrived now means that we must be on the brink of destruction. The Scalpers must be on the cusp of a complete collection… and if they awaken Makuta and gain the powers from completing their collection, I fear that all hope will be lost.” Taking a deep breath, Tahu slowly sank to the floor, crossing his legs as he sat down and closed his eyes. “Are you okay?” the Protector of Fire asked. “It is… a lot to take in,” Tahu said, his eyes still closed. “Just… give me a minute.” “I am afraid we might not have time for that,” the Protector of Fire said, pulling him back to his feet with surprising strength. “Come! Allow me to show you the amiibo figures that we have in our possession, before we return to the surface and I tell you about the rare ones.” --- Once they returned to the surface, Tahu waited by the entrance to the cave as the Protector of Fire rushed off to find the Fire Village’s resident archivist. The Toa went over the twelve figures that he had been shown in his mind over and over again, trying to remember them. There was Mario, the red plumber, and Luigi his green brother, Tahu mused. Then there was the pink princess they were related to… Peach? And that green dinosaur. The two monkeys, the Donkey and Diddy. The green sword guy Zelda with the yellow bar, and his purple princess, can’t remember her name. There was that yellow creature with the lightning tail, and Kirby the pink ball. That orange suit of armor he called Samus, and the Fox creature. He mentally cursed his poor recall, resolving to make sure that the other Toa remembered each one as soon as he met them - embarrassment at forgetting so many of them so easily, as well as his pride, would not allow him to ask the Protector of Fire for a reminder. A proper hero should have been able to recall the plastic figures with ease. It must just be the amnesia messing with my mind, he thought. Yes, that must be it. I’m certain that the other Toa will be going through similar issues. “Tahu! Tahu, come here!” The Toa of Fire was shaken from his thoughts as the Protector of Fire yelled at him from a large building down the street. Sighing, Tahu resolved to consider his memory issues at a later time as he stood and sprinted over. The Protector of Fire beamed as he approached, grabbing his elbow and yanking him into the building. Tahu shook him off as soon as they crossed the threshold; while the Protector of Fire shut the door behind them, Tahu examined the scrolls and books lining the shelves. “What is this place?” he asked. “These are our archives,” the Protector of Fire explained. “It’s where we keep a record of our histories and important events. We only started it when my father retired and I realized that we didn’t really have a record of everything. Carvings are fun to look at, but they aren’t exactly as accurate as a written record of events.” “I see,” Tahu said, not understanding at all. “All of the other villages started their own archives soon after us,” the Protector of Fire said. “Ours is pretty impressive - after all, we started exploring out first - but you should see the archives of the Earth Village some time. It is massive.” “Perhaps I shall,” Tahu replied. “So… why am I in here?” “Oh, right. We found some visual references of the rare amiibo figures awhile ago; I sent the Archivist to find them,” the Protector of Fire responded. “He should be here any second.” “I am here already,” a new voice said. Startled, Tahu whirled around, readying his magma shield - only to lower it awkwardly before he could slam it into the unimpressed face of the Archivist, who shuffled forward silently and beckoned for them to follow. Chuckling nervously, Tahu followed the Archivist to the nearby table, where the Archivist spread out six sheets. “These are the rare amiibo figures,” the Archivist explained, before pointing to each one. “Pit, the angel; Little Mac, the fighter; Captain Falcon, the kicker; Villager, the… villager; Wii Fit Trainer, the acrobat; and Marth, the blue swordsman.” “Think you can remember them as well?” the Protector of Fire asked. No. “Yes.” “Good,” the Protector of Fire said, sounding relieved. “So, like I said, only six of each were produced - one for each village. Each of the six Scalpers owns a certain amiibo, so you’ll have to defeat all six of them.” “Of course we will,” Tahu muttered. “Wouldn’t want it to be too easy. Is there anything else I must know, or may I leave?” “You don’t even know where you’re meeting the other Toa yet! Just relax,” the Protector of Fire cried out, pulling Tahu back as the Toa turned to leave. Sighing, Tahu nodded. “Alright,” the Protector of Fire said. “So… each region of Okoto has a temple dedicated to their respective elements - you know, like fire, earth, water, that sort of thing.” “I do now, yes.” “We think the Scalpers are hiding around the temples, since those are the places on the island most overrun with Skull Spiders,” the Protector of Fire continued, handing the Toa a small scroll. “Take this - if our sources are correct, then that list will tell you which Scalper is where, as well as the amiibo that they possess. You’ll be meeting with the other Toa in the Temple of Time - it is located in the Jungle Region, at the base of the volcano. It is the only temple that has not become overrun.” “Very well,” Tahu said, nodding and turning away. “I should be off, then.” “Just one more thing,” the Protector of Fire said, reaching into his armor and pulling out what Tahu recognized as an amiibo figure. “Take this - it is Mario, the patron amiibo of the Fire Region. Let it guide you to the Temple of Time, for it carries the hopes and prayers of our tribe.” The Toa nodded, taking the amiibo and gazing at it for a long moment in silence before shaking the Protector of Fire’s hand, tucking the Mario Amiibo into his armor. “Thank you,” he said. “I must be off, now. You can expect my return once I have achieved victory.” Thanking the Protector of Fire and the Archivist one last time, Tahu began making his way towards the edge of the village, taking the path that would lead him towards the Jungle Region. He was almost out of the village when he heard a voice calling for him to wait. Turning, he frowned as the Archivist sprinted up to him. The Archivist bent over once they reached him, gasping for breath. “What is it, Archivist?” Tahu asked. “There’s… something else… you need to know,” the Archivist said in between breaths. “I… found something… haven’t shared it yet. It would… not be good for… anyone else to know.” “What is this information? What have you found?” Tahu urged, crouching down to the Archivist’s level and looking him in the eye. “The leader of the Scalpers… he is called the Skull Grinder,” the Archivist said. “The legend I found states that only you can defeat him. He must fall to your blade; none others can defeat him. I know not what power you contain that makes you so unique in this regard, but… you cannot allow the other Toa to fight him.” “I understand,” Tahu said grimly, nodding. “Thank you.” “That’s not all, though,” the Archivist continued, straightening up as he finally caught his breath. “The same legend states that one of your number shall fall. The legend does not say how or why… just that it will happen.” Tahu was silent for several seconds, staring at the ground. “So one of the Toa shall perish on this quest, then.” The Archivist nodded solemnly, confirming his thoughts. The Toa of Fire took a deep breath before standing up and gazing down at the Archivist. “Well,” he said. “Let us hope, Archivist, that your legend is wrong. But regardless… I would keep it to yourself for the time being. I do not think it would do to kill the morale of your fellow villagers. I shall… remain silent on the matter with the other Toa as well. Perhaps that shall be enough to change it.” “We cannot hope to fight destiny,” the Archivist told him. “But I shall do as you have requested, Toa. Good luck on your quest, and may Ekimu and the amiibo guide you.” “Thank you,” Tahu said, turning and walking away. “Let them guide you as well.” And with that, the Toa of Fire set off. To Be Continued. REVIEW TOPIC
  20. I was looking at GregF's profile and I found This: http://www.bzpower.com/board/user/581-gregf/ Apr 01 2013 - 06:44 PM Hello everyone, I have an announcement to make. Although it is sort of unfortunate that it is April fools, I just recieved authorization from LEGO to talk about this today, so I didn't want to wait. (Hopefully it isn't their April fool's joke on me!) Over the last few weeks, I've been in talks with LEGO about the fate of Bionicle. More specifically, we've been discussing the possiblity of it making a return in some shape or form. The intrest in the line has keep going strong, which is one of the reasons this came up. Although I went into the discussion not knowing where it would lead, I'm happy to say that its good news! Although the revival wouldn't mean having a full line of sets again, there would at least a few small sets, and at the very least, a continuation of the story again. I'm not going to talk about where that's going, but I'm sure you have a few guesses. I'm really grateful to you guys for sticking with this community through thick and thin, and helping to show that Bionicle really does deserve another chance. I'll be posting more information on what's going to be happening as soon as I can, and hopefully allowing you guys to be involved in the process. Untill then, carry on! I still really enjoy this community, and I am looking forward to becoming a more active part of it again. Best wishes to everyone, -Greg Farshtey Most members chalked this up as an April Fool's joke, and thought GregF's account must have been hacked. But apparently since it takes about 2 years for Lego to develop a theme, this would be around the time they were first really working on it. Bionicle's return was essentially announced 2 years ago! And, just as it was with the blurry leaked pictures of the 2015 Toa, people were looking for reasons to doubt it...ever the skeptics, aren't we? My guess is this: they were first going to make commemorative Toa, and it just took off from there -
  21. What led me to start thinking this: much has been made of the “mythical” island of Okoto— but myths don’t take place in the far future, they take place in the far past; historical events have ascended through retelling over generations to the status of legends; we even have the same narrator through all the stories so far (without even different voice actors to give the impression of a currently occurring story) as if he is telling us a legend or myth of this sort. Are the 2015 toa the same heroes we know and love? Perhaps the Great Beings, familiar with the legend of Okoto and the events of the Gen II storyline, were inspired to create the Toa Mata as some of the GSR’s greatest heroes. Thus the conflict between the Toa and the Skull creatures we're experiencing now is an ancient legend of Spherus Magna that the Great Beings incorporate, in the form of the Toa Mata, into their creation. The appearance of the Vahi points to the importance of time to the story, but why does it have to be in the future of the Bionicle universe? It makes more sense to me that what we’re witnessing here in 2015 is literally a legend of Bionicle, an ancient story passed down through generations that will echo through the ages as it impacts and influences those that grow up with it. Does this mean the Protectors/villagers are Agori? Is Okoto located somewhere on Spherus Magna from the distant past? We may not get a direct answer to all these questions, as Lego may not want to make explicit links between Gen I and Gen II. I am confident that the Gen II storyline will be something that can be enjoyed entirely on its own, and will probably have no direct connection to Gen I (I wouldn’t go so far as to speculate time-traveling Gen I characters visiting Okoto, for instance), but I wouldn’t be surprised if this version of events is made known in some subtle way to fans to tie the two stories together. Thoughts? Any evidence for or against this idea I may have missed?
  22. A while back I decided to make this: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RaginSpartan86/Mini-Akamai/image.jpg He turned out pretty good, except for his staff-shooter. It's pretty sensitive due to the way it's built.
  23. I bought Pohatu early because he was the most disappointing toa of this wave in my opinion and I just needed to fix him. He seemed to resemble less his origins than the others. While he does have a more close design to pohatu nuva phantoka (which is one of my favorite sets), the boomerangs don't really make any sense to me as a tool and they are difficult to work with to make anything other than what they are intended to be. So I dropped them. So I experimented around with flipping the gear system upside down and giving Pohatu his classic and unique gear function. Kicking!! (or running). http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bionicfreak/Pohatu2015Custom/20150208_204453.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bionicfreak/Pohatu2015Custom/snapchat--2320446091920014258.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bionicfreak/Pohatu2015Custom/snapchat--6982629826321375957.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/bionicfreak/Pohatu2015Custom/snapchat-5682505080570975984.jpg And here's the gallery link now that it is live: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=552879 So what do you all think? I think I am close to nailing the proportion and functionality and not making him look too awkwardly bowlegged. However this is a bit of a work in progress. (and please let me know if I screwed anything up in my post, i haven't posted on here for ages so I am not used to the new forum set up.)
  24. Don't know if there's a topic on this yet, so... I need help with the BIONICLE app game! Yeah, I know, easiest game in the world. I've beaten the Lord of Skull Spiders with all the Toa, (and somehow unlocked the "winged" Kopaka) but now I rarely get those little exclamation marks notifications or new pieces. What do I have to do to get more pieces and "special" modes for the Toa? I'm playing on an Android. Is it glitchy? What's the solution?
  25. Hi, guys! I know that this year, 2015, is a new year for the rebooted Bionicle, so I would like to talk about, as the title says, what do the new Bionicle 2015 remind you of. For me, the sets remind me a lot of stuff: 1. Tahu: his mask reminds me of Tahu Mata's Hau back in 2001. His silver swords/surfboard are a mix of Tahu Nuva's from 2002 and Lhikan's from 2004. Plus, his armor kind of reminds me of Stars Tahu from 2010 when he wears the Golden Armor. 2. Gali: her mask is a mix of Gali Nuva's mask from 2002 and Takadox's face. 3. Lewa: His mask reminds me of Stormer's 1.0 mask from 2010. His axes and swords remind me of Lewa Mata's axe from 2001 and Lewa Nuva's silver swords from 2002. 4. Kopaka: a mix of Kopaka Mata and Kopaka Nuva. 5. Pohatu: His mask kind of reminds me of Pohatu Mata's mask. In his adrenaline modes, when his boomerangs turn into little foot-mount jets, they remind me of the Green Goblin and the Hobgoblin from Marvel. 6. Ouna: His mask looks like Ouna Mata's mask. He kind of reminds me of Hulk and Thor from Marvel because of his bulky body and hammer, respectively. In his adrenaline mode, where his hammer turn into shovels, they remind me of Ouna Mata's claws. Plus, his big shield pieces remind me of Ouna Mistika's shield from 2008. 7. The Protectors' masks remind me of Toa Jaller Mahri's mask from 2007. Their gatling guns remind me of the Cordak Blasters from 2007, too. Plus, the Protectors themselves remind me of the Matoran and the Turaga. When the Protector of Fire has a son, that reminds me of a fact that Spherus Magna inhabitants can reproduce. 8. The tiny Skull Spiders remind me of the Krana and Visorak. 9. The Lord of Skull Spiders reminds me of the giant spiders from the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit sets. 10. The story is like a version of the 2001 story. 11. Ekimu reminds me of Mata Nui and Artakha. 12. Makuta's mask reminds me of the movie Kraakhan, a little, with a ram's horns. 13. The Mask of Creation looks like Vultraz's mask or Breez's helmet with a crown. 14. Bionicle 2015 kind of reminds me of Transformers, the Ultimate Spider-Man comic book series, and The Amazing Spider-Man movie series because of the Masters look like tougher versions of the Toa Mata and of how it is rebooted. 15. The building system is like a Bionicle version of Hero Factory's. 16. The animation in the webisodes remind me of the Mixels. 17. The island of Okoto reminds me of the island of Mata Nui from 2001. So, there. What do you think?
