I frowned, looking back to Dorian. Pinning it on Utu? Ha. That was just a little preposterous, if you ask me.

"Dor, all three of us are relatively conspicuous when in a place primarily inhabited by Ga-Koro natives. Or do you not remember much of that time?"

"Not gonna lie, I partied a lot back in Ga-Koro. It's all a blur. I did happen to hear that while I was hanging out at a casino making fortunes and models were buying rounds for me, you all were forcibly evicted from the village under penalty of death. Must have been harrowing."

"That Thessa girl put a fishing spear up to my back and said that if I didn't get lost she'd make sure I'd be lost forever. There were about sixteen more Ga-Matoran with her, so I thought it prudent to just leave." I shook my head, thinking about what had been done to get us kicked out of the Koro.

"I found out later that there was a particularly treacherous stretch of river a few miles from the Koro, where a river that is normally about ten meters deep and ranges from thirty to fifty wide is constricted to a two meter width with an unknown depth. Falling in there - or being pushed - is invariably fatal, because the water currents keep you under no matter what you do, and bodies normally get stuck in underground tunnels eroded out by the water. I heard that somebody with a mask of water breathing fell in there once." I grinned, slightly.

"They're still stuck there. I wonder if they just stopped using it one day and let the water have them once and for all."

IC (Cael)

"And we're all looking forward to the day you do," Cael interjected. "But right now I'd rather you spent your energy on figuring out how we're going to jump across this stretch."

Ga-Koro had claimed the Islets, but the area surrounding the lighthouse was the only real territory the lay above the water. There was little else left. The ocean spread out beyond them, empty save for bits of rock that jutted above the surface here and there like the fingertips of some vast titan sleeping beneath the waves.

"Ahhh, home sweet home," I sighed, rounding the corner behind Cael and slipping ahead of the pack of Mark Bearers - Tuara still didn't trust Utu alone, but she relaxed visibly when I moved away from him - and peered out at the vast expanse of ocean. Crags of igneous rock dotted the landscape, and the ghost of a ship or two still prowled the waters, but Xa-Koro was dead and gone, with none of the famous hustle and bustle of its ports and streets had met us when we made the approach, and they didn't meet us now. I sailed here with Jin last time, I thought suddenly, inanely. This place was supposed to be her escape too.

But no. That didn't bear thinking about.

"Looks like someone left the faucet running again."

"That's unwarranted," I murmured slightly, although I also had to try and stop myself from laughing - it was a good response. Then I shrugged, looking at the sea around me.

"We need a small boat and our lung capacities, I imagine. Or somebody with a Kaukau."

IC: Sloth (Rama Hive, Le-Wahi)

Sloth eyed the newcomer, then returned her attention to Pride. God, is that what I look like now? "Probably. Mata Nui knows, all my other relatives are snivelling wrecks."

You go girl. Insult the dangerous individuals who surround you. Great idea. Top notch. 10/10, would be murdered again.

"You're not making any sense, Naria," Cys said, plodding along into the locker room and finally setting Naria down on the seat while he put his gym bag in his locker. "I'm afraid you're talking a lot of jibble jabble. My mind can't handle all of it."

Naria sighed, rolled her eyes, then got up and walked over to Cysero, putting a hand on the one of his shoulders that wasn't horribly sticky from fruit juices (probably because it was the one he'd carried her on and he'd gotten that stuff all over her instead).

"Cysero, you know I consider you a good friend and you know as well as I do that I'm not serious whenever I seem to be mean." She smiled at the Le-Matoran, and just when he seemed about to smile back, his eyes lighting up, she pointed in the opposite direction from the one he'd been walking.

"Also, the shower is that way."

"Oh, hey, thanks! Got tripped up for a second." Cysero smiled at the Ga-Matoran and turned around, walking around the bend and into the showers. Two seconds after he'd disappeared, he came running back and grabbed a towel from his locker.

"Almost forgot!" the athlete exclaimed, throwing it under his arm with a laugh. "Don't want the wrong guy getting his hands on this."

After they got out of the shower, Cysero sat down in front of his Kolhii locker and toweled off his face, pulling on one of his practice uniforms and looking up at Naria. He beamed at the Ga-Matoran and stood up, throwing his bag over his shoulder and his arm over hers.

"How come it took you so long to visit? All you ever used to do was complain about wanting to see Le-Koro."

"Oh." Cys looked a little sheepish when he discovered that it had been a near-death experience for the village Akiri that had kept his girl from visiting for so long. "That, uh...makes sense. They gonna be okay without you?"

IC: Sloth (Rama Hive, Le-Wahi)

Her eyes were cold and hard, glaring at Pride. She said nothing.

'Perhaps you have some potential, my dear Sloth...'

It was her name now, but it still felt wrong. It was her, but it was disconnected. She heard it and she felt nothing. She knew who Nikarra was; she could feel herself resonating in the name. She felt Nikki, too, but only from him. He was the only one who had ever used it.

She looked away from her comrade, signalling that the discussion was over. She showed no sign of what she felt. She couldn't afford to.

IC Jrahann:

Jrahann did her best to look calm and natural as she headed to the gates of the arena with Asuno, but she was worried that the guards would be suspicious and discover Dia, and was doing her best not to tremble from the tension. As she passed through the gate, she could feel the eyes of the guards and their pet beasts upon her, and deeply hoped that none had X-ray vision.

IC Asuno:

As they walked past the gates, Asuno knew there were prying eyes all around. One couldn't help but notice a Toa with a broken mask accompanying a hunchbacked Skakdi. At least, that's what he hoped they thought of Jrahann. Otherwise, he thought, we might just have a big problem.

He tried to make some mental calculations. He convinced himself to use his Akaku.

"Jrahann," he whispered, "I'm going to move a bit further than you, ok? I'm using my Akaku. I'll look around and you relay what you see to Dia. She can tell you what to do next."

Time is my frenemy. So is money.
May the classics never die and may the future find a new set of Toa.

I stared up at the treetops, wondering if I should head to the koro or no. My answer would be yes but part of me told me to keep my feet planted to the ground and stay there. I took a step toward the elevator entrance, unsure if I was to continue or not. Probably a "no". Not caring how I would stand out, I just stood there for now.

"... I've thought about it." Krayn admitted, not turning away from the railing to look at Skyra. The silence continued for a moment, as he looked over the scenery. For him, the silence was never truly silent; He could hear the slightest breath, the faintest stirring of the world around him. Every moment was filled with the cacophony of night, no matter how quiet it seemed to anyone else. Over the water was the closest he ever got to true silence, as there were few sources of noise, and as such, the most likely place for introspection.

And this was a topic he'd pondered a lot. "I've devoted a lot of time to the Force, but... It never seems like it. Perhaps I was overzealous at times, but I did my job better than most everyone else. Never once did any of my colleagues have anything positive to say. As you're well aware, I became hated, ridiculed. Never promoted, never acknowledged, never..."

"This sounds like pride, but please understand, it's not. I don't really look for recognition. Just acceptance, maybe acknowledgement." The De-Toa paused again, tapping his fingers against the railing, the drumming set to a ponderous, almost forlorn, pace. "I've grown to hate coming home. I love Le-Koro, but I've grown to hate being in it. Because nothing good ever happens when I come back."

I let out a sigh, something that was becoming a habit with me, I really needed to cut that out. Now I couldn't get mad at Krayn for considering to leave the Force, his experience as a Force member was a less than stellar one, and that was putting it mildly.

"You know...I still don't really understand how I've gotten as far as I have...with the rank of Commander, recognition and whatnot, to be honest I can't think of what I did to deserve any of it." I pulled out my badge and took a good look at it. "I mean I'm gone half the time, I don't do my paperwork, I haven't really done my job in months, (Though I suppose changing sex gave me a good excuse not too) and I get away with it because I'm a Toa with 'Toa duties' that I have to do or whatever excuse I come up with." I sighed again, seriously need to stop that.

"What I'm trying to say is I'm actually really terrible at my job and I've been winging it this whole time."

"To be completely honest? I know." The De-Toa replied, finally turning around and resting his back against the railing. "That's how most of the old crew does it, and how many of them still do. But you guys can do it because you're liked enough. If you slip up, or act out of line, it's just a forgivable error in an otherwise good record."

"If I do, it's something to be held against me. It all really comes back to the fact that I'm really not a very well-liked individual." He paused, sighing himself. "Not really sure where along the lines I went wrong. I don't think I'll really leave. Not sure I could. But sometimes I ponder it. Not that my presence, or lack thereof, would really change very much."

"They've already turned my desk into a coffee table."

"..." At that, the De-Toa let out a resounding laugh, as if he was realizing how absurd the conversation was. He was conversing with one of his former tormentors, who had changed sexes along the way, about a desk he hadn't sat at in months because his colleagues, who equally hated him, had turned it into a coffee table. His life was ludicrous. And not necessarily in a good way.

"Don't worry about it. They'll move it if I go back. Eventually, at least." He sighed, taking a seat on the bench. "It's not really the desk that bothers me. Or anything like it, really. What bothers me is that somehow, I made just about all of them hate me. Some of them are pretty apathetic, the ones that gave me a hand after I punched that guard for insulting Hari were actually kinda civil, but most of them just plain dislike me. And that's not really something I can fix. I can't turn around what they think of me, I can't win them over. Because I'm just Lieutenant Krayn Inzaka the Prick, the punching bag, the convenient target."

"I was worried about Hari coming to Le-Koro for weeks, because I didn't want her to see how I was in my own village. I didn't want to have to explain why I didn't want to take to any of my colleagues, I didn't want to have to explain why my house is completely devoid of anything remotely personal. Because there wasn't really anything personal to put up."

His voice didn't really change, but it wasn't showing any sign of slowing down. All the rants that had been filtered, all the complaints, they were issuing forth now, with his Commander the unfortunate witness. "Before the A-Team, my existence was work. Afterwards... Well, I had at least a few friends. Which really made me realize how much I didn't want to go back to being ostracized. So I've avoided going back."

A long moment of silence. "I'm sorry, Commander. Isn't your problem, nor is it right for me to make you listen to it."

"Well actually it kind of is my problem, with you technically being my subordinate and whatnot. I'm sure it's in the rulebook somewhere." I still couldn't find my copy of the rulebook, it was probably keeping my desk from wobbling.

"And you know, I'm your friend and friends listen to each other's problems. At least I think we're friends...we are right? We don't have to like make it official with a secret handshake or draw blood or something do we?"

Akura eyed the newcomer, the ninth of a set of seven. "What, do we let anyone in now? I suppose your Betrayal, or Anguish perhaps? Or maybe pestilence? I thought this meeting was in secret." Akura lowered his hood, his eyes an icy blue. "Explain yourself newcomer, or death's cold embrace shall consume you."

To her credit, the Toa of gravity stood her ground. Her voice in response was neither bold nor weak; she spoke flatly, each syllable a melancholy, melodious stream directed towards Wrath's cold abyss. "Do not count me as a ninth, for I could hardly stand as one of your numbers- see me rather as Anthyn's lesser half. My presence her is unremarkable at best, for I go where she does." Despite these claims, she seemed to slink further back, as if attempting to make herself yet more unseen.

-IC:-

Kaihoro observed Greed and Wrath's argumentations with absolute silence, monitoring their debate with a blasé impassivity, hands clasped calmly behind his back. The divulgence of Greed's quixotic scheme had been met only with deadpan stolidity from the man deemed Gluttony, as apparently appealing as self-asphyxiation. The silence was due to his ponderous cerebrations concerning the information presented; Kaihoro invariably judged and analysed all available data before decided upon important courses of actions. The proposal was absurd in most aspects, but Gluttony realised from experience that failures could be as profitable as successes, if handled with acute guile. As such, he reached the decision to play his miserably idealistic part, composing schemes of his own while the arrival of the ninth was noted and argued. If they were to specifically question his employee's presence as well, he would respond. Until then, silence remained his best course of action.

"It'd have to be the boat," I decided, taking a knee and casting a stone lazily into the water. "Praggos, you've been here. You too, Tuara. Current's too tricky and too fast to risk sending us in with a whole sack of Kanohi. One misstep, and one of us is sucked out into a bay that'd make that little stream of yours look like a slip in the goddamn bathtub."

"Not really. When you factor in the volume of water moving through the constricted space in that river, and how all the underground caverns are there with it, it would have equivalent strength to the current sucking us out into the Endless Ocean. The ocean is actually a bit more survivable." Before the others could turn to glare at me, I spoke up again.

"As to the fact that we need a boat, do you think you'd be able to make us one?"
