Spending a silence to think about it, Halmos eventually said "all right." He motioned for the guards to stay put and pulled out a collection of keys. Placing in one after another and typing codes so complex not even Makuta himself could copy them down that fast, the locks slid away and the door opened slowly...

 

 

The siphon room was dark, but the siphon itself was huge. It semi lit up the area with its odd purple glow, and acted as a blacklight, making Halmos' coat glow too. If you forgot the fact that purple electricity spiraled around it at all times and it was swirling around, it seemed beautiful and mesmerizing. It was truly a sign of craftsmanship.

 

 

But about half a minute of staring at the siphon adjusted the eyes of Fade and Halmos enough to see a cold, dead body on the floor right outside of the railing. Sliding under it, Halmos dragged the body of a Ta-Toa - no legs, no head - behind the line again. "This the corpse you mentioned?"

IC: Fade - Siphon Room.

 

"Yes...." he scowled, taser still held at the ready, "...do you recognise them; who were they?" 

 

He didn't say anything about the note he'd seen on the screen, the one written in the dead Toa's blood: are you alone? He wasn't sure what it meant, but he had a feeling it wouldn't be anything good.

IC: "Five-Knuckled" Sal - Solitary

Sal continued to wait patiently for a guard to enter her field of vision.

GM IC Nyhe:

"It... It talked to me, too... but not telepathically. I... I guess it must've found a way into the comms network, the lights went dark, I heard some static, and it told me it's name. Abbendium."

IC: Scriva - Corridor.

 

"It hacked the comms, just like that?" that wasn't good.... "Let's get this over with, before it comes back."

IC: Lana

 

I was in complete agreement with Scriva, I had heard a lot about this monster, more than I wanted to know, and I really didn't feel like meeting it in person.

GM IC Nyhe:

"Alright, then. Lana, I think you should come with us. I'll get you clearance to leave, but this data has to reach the Turaga Council. Scriva, let's go. The chute leaves in... 7 minutes."

IC: Lana

 

I nodded. "Alright, I'll come." It's what I wanted to do anyway, so having the doctor's permission to accompany them made me feel giddy. Getting away from the Asylum was definitely a good thing, even if it was only for a short time.

GM IC Nyhe:

"Well, in that case..." Nyhe reached into her coat and pulled out another datacube. "Have this copy. I have a few backups, not to worry. Come, let's get going."

IC: Scriva - Corridor.

 

Smiling at Lana, she followed Nyhe towards the chute. She was doing her best to put on a brave face, but she couldn't shake a feeling of trepidation at the whole situation. This felt too easy....

No one had to tell me twice to follow them, I wanted to get the karz out of the asylum. Maybe if we were lucky we wouldn't have to go back. That wouldn't happen though, we'd have to return, as much as I hated to admit that. I wouldn't be accepted back into society, because I was a Toa, and Toa were supposed to be crazy. Didn't matter if it was true or not.

 

So I pocketed the datacube and set off toward the chute with Nyhe and Scriva.

[Kovika: Visorak Lord]

IC: Kovika

After waiting a while, observing his surroundings, and coming up with ideas of escape, Kovika snuck around to the Recreational Area, keeping out of sight as best he could with a Huna that only turned him partially invisible. When he reached the Recreational Area, he whispered. "Kuraz? You had something to speak of? Escape I assume? We need to get our friend I invited, and soon."

Halmos took a while staring at the corpse. "Yes, fire Toa. Older. Very raspy when she spoke." He fumbled around for a bit, back to Fade, blocking his view of what he was doing, before he turned around, placing a knife in his belt.

 

He held up, in his hand, the implant.

 

"They work kind of like a black box as well." Halmos continued. "I'll be able to find out exactly how she died. Of course, in the case of some other patients, the body is either missing, or the implant was destroyed."||

IC: Fade - Siphon Room.

 

"Where's the monster now, then?" he growled, eyes scanning over every visible surface in the room.

Peering around, Fade would find nothing of major importance. Just a few metal containers, very small, sitting in the back with the words 'electrical equipment' written on them. No trace of the monster remained.

 

"It's definitely not in here." Halmos said, rather sure of himself.

IC: Fade - Siphon Room.

 

"Then where the karz is it?" he snapped. "We need to deal with it before it kills anyone else!"

Halmos gave Fade an annoyed look. "You want to try single-handedly killing it? At the time being we don't know how to kill it."

[Nato G]

IC: Fade - Siphon Room.

 

"I'm not going to kill it," Fade replied calmly, "This is your problem. You caused it, and you're sure as karz going to fix it."

Backtalking his boss, again. "If you have any suggestions how to, let me know." Halmos said, his voice ever so slightly tinted with sarcasm.

 

He pushed the body back to the spot where it was, and a black trail of goop was left behind.

IC: Fade - Siphon Room. 

 

"I'm not being paid to make suggestions," Fade growled, straightening to his full height. "I'm being paid to protect the people who live and work here, a task which you're making increasingly difficult."

Nyhe, Scriva and Lana, escorted by two guards, climbed aboard the chute and were soon on their way to the Turaga. It is so quiet in the tubes, they never even noticed...

 

 

 

Halmos scowled at Fade. "Your job is to monitor security, and head the guards. I suggest you sti-"

 

 

WHAM!!

 

 

Fade and Halmos fell to the ground as a shockwave rumbled the entire asylum. Halmos quickly got up and put all of his effort into helping Fade up shortly after. "Come on! We've got trouble!"

IC: Fade - Siphon Room.

 

"I'm not getting paid enough for this...." he muttered as he followed Halmos.

Halmos decided to ignore that comment.

 

 

As they came out of the siphon room, the guards informed Fade that it came from Solitary while Halmos relocked the door. The pair was soon racing down the halls to reach the confinement area.

IC Kotak: He was all but sent sprawling out of the chair, only just managing to keep his feet on the ground.

 

"What in Karzahni was that...?" He muttered, looking to the door.

 

It had been jarred open by... Whatever.

 

"Maybe Halmos' plans went through early," he thought, stepping carefully through the doorframe and into the hall.

 

OOC: Kotak open for interaction.

IC: Fade - Hallway.

 

He didn't say anything as he ran, just glared at Halmos. The doctor had a lot to answer for.

At Sal's cell, before Halmos and Fade could arrive, Sal would hear a large crunching noise. Rubble scattered in front of the cell suddenly, and the Monster barreled past, unintentionally catching its leg in the door and stopping it. |Growling, it tore the cell door off in one clean motion, and continued to be distracted by starting to melt the protosteel with plasma.

IC: Navuru (Solitary)

 

While messing around with the shotgun pellets, some... thing burst through the wall, got it's foot stuck in the door, tore it off and started melting it.

 

"It appears it's going to be one of those days."

IC Kotak:

 

Slowly forming an ice sword in his hand as he went, Kotak soon came to solitary.... And the creature.

 

Using his akaku, he peered into the beast as it busied itself with melting the wall.

Kotak would only find an unknown yellow mass inside the creature, unidentifiable as to what it could be. It looked like an egg yolk.

 

He would feel a shove suddenly as Halmos and Fade rounded the corner and ran into him.

IC Kotak:

 

"Keep back!" He said, throwing an arm out.

 

"This thing has all of the patient's powers," he explained to the new arrival, who he'd later come to know as Fade.

 

His sword was now a proper blade, and his buckler had been sharpened to a fine edge.

GM IC Nyhe:

The three people on the chute would sadly be oblivious to the large shockwave. Had they known, they might've tried to stop it.

 

Well, maybe not Scriva and Lana, but Nyhe would've. Definitely.

 

The conductor walked into the compartment. "Three minutes to the Colosseum Maxima!"

 

Nyhe turned to the two patients. "So... Ever been to the Colosseum?"

IC: Iyanu

The shockwave shook through Iyanu and sent him sprawling from the wall of his cell. He looked around before getting up. He decided to walk outside.

Or, what was outside inside - around the cells.

He walked towards solitary and turned the corner to see The Monster. And two other Toa. And "Him".

He stood completely still, frozen in place.

IC:Kuraz

 

Kuraz was about to answer Kovika's question when she was knocked out of her chair by the shockwave. "Sounds like an explosion, let's go." She walked out of the recreation area and headed towards solitary.

"I actually haven't," she admitted, "I've heard stories, and seen pictures, of course."

He raised his hands and reached out with his powers, increasing gravity around the creature tenfold.

GM IC Nyhe:

"Well, you've not seen greatness until you've been inside the Colosseum... Majestic, yet cold and intimidating. No wonder the Council takes up residence there. You can see the entire city from the top of the sprire.

[Snelly]

IC: Lana

 

"It's been a long time for me, I can hardly remember what it looks like."

IC: Scriva - Chute.

 

"Sounds like a nice place."

IC: "Five-Knuckled" Sal - Solitary

The sound of solid metal being torn apart suddenly caught Sal's attention as a shard flew through the tray slot, cutting its way into her cheek before ricocheting off of one of the walls to her cell. She stumbled backwards, watching as an appendage belonging to what she presumed to be the monster from the night before somehow wedged itself into the small opening she just previously had her face pressed up against, possibly putting it in an extremely awkward position for a moment, considering that the standard asylum door design positioned it at about the height of an average prisoner's waist. Her eyes widened in horror as the being's claws shredded the metal as if it were paper, ripping it off of its hinges as she rolled to her right, eventually coming to a stop with her back pressed up against the side of the doorway.

Wrapping her fingers around around the fragmented projectile that had landed nearby, the Vo-Toa closed her eyes, attempting to keep herself calm as she continued to listen for signs of it entering the room.

The Monster looked straight at Kotak. It roared, letting out a sonic blast across the room. Then, it turned and ran towards the wall.

 

Upon reaching the wall, It pressed up against it and bolted off towards Kotak, Fade and Halmos. Halmos quickly stepped forwards and nodded firmly at it. It came to a skidding halt in front of the doctor.

 

After a few seconds, it lunged at Halmos, missing spearing him ever so slightly. Fade yanked the doctor out of the way before the beast could behead him, and they saw it had embedded a shadow-covered blade in the wall, keeping it there. "NOW!!" Halmos barked, and the trio took off down the hallway towards Sal's cell. Racing inside, they stopped by the wall to catch their breath, questioning how long the beast would stay there.

IC: Kovika - Recreational Area

Kovika felt something, a shockwave perhaps? He saw Kuraz start to take off, so he followed. "Think this might be whatever killed that person we saw before?" He asked Kuraz as they ran.
