Oh, and I am not just talking about obvious avatars of pop culture, but of interesting or unique design of someone or something.Also, I bet no one can guess what my avatar is or what my banner is. It is a render of two Bionicle characters I’ve made from a 3d program. I just edited it so it remains somewhat obscure for now. Try and guess who these two are supposed to be. Besides, there are enough avatars like mine out there (Brickeens drew it for me, and means nothing from any franchise aside from the fact that it's my BIONICLE alter-ego) to warrant mass ignorance. Sigs I pay a bit more attention to, but only fleetingly.The pony banners introduced me to Friendship is Magic and the brony phenomenon in general, but it's kind of hard to miss those. But yeah sometimes I do it when I'm particularly intrigued by a banner or avatar. If it's some video game or anime or something I usually don't bother, because my knowledge of either is particularly small. All the Homestuck stuff kept popping up so I followed a trail of banners to the source and my goodness it's the best thing I've ever watched, played and read.But no, I don't normally wonder about other people's banners unless they're particularly off-the-wall, subconsciously familiar, or beautifully eye-catching. If I see one that is interesting, I usually stop for a moment to see what artistic skills may have been used to create it. I can appreciate a well-made signature or avatar.I usually don't bother guessing what characters or objects are in people's art, unless it appears to be related to something I like.
