JiMing
Bionicle Mafia: Requiem of the DeadHate. Anger. Revenge. These are what bind me still to this world. Those three words flashed through the spirit's lingering consciousness over and over. Long before, he had been a participant in the titular 'Mafia' game. To be exact, a Sniper. A cold-hearted, ruthless killer, feared by many. The only one he feared was the Spy, his equal and nemesis. During the game, their last confrontation ended in his death. Since then, he wandered aimlessly, desiring only revenge against the village that killed him.Revenge. What a sweet tone the world held. If only I could have mine. the spirit lamented."You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"The Sniper's spirit turned to face a Matoran, details encased in darkness. The object he held caught the spirit's attention, it was a staff, not unlike the one used by the organizer of the very game that killed him. "What is your business with me?" he questioned."Not much. I sensed your hatred, and I will admit, the intensity... Surprised me." the Matoran muttered, though an outline of a grin spread across his face. "I believe I can put that thirst for revenge to good use." The Sniper's spirit stared warily, unsure of whether to trust this mysterious Matoran. "...What do you have in mind?" he said at last. "I'm glad you asked." the staff-wielding Matoran replied. "But first, a history lesson. The village where the game took place? It has prospered since then, and they have removed everything about the game from memory. That alone should be angering, but there's more. Your nemesis, the Spy? He's still alive."A look of anger spread across the spirit's face upon hearing the last sentence. "Again, what do you have planned?"The Matoran sighed. "I was just about to get to that. Basically, we're going to have another game, only with you being the main focus. Each night, you will possess one villager in an attempt to find the Spy. Once he's dead, you will try to slaughter the rest of them, alongside the one they call the 'Pyro'. However, if your current host is killed, the Spy will gain... Considerable power. What do you say?" he asked, holding out his hand. The Sniper's spirit gave a suspicious glare. "Why can I not simply kill them all when we arrive?""Because it's not as fun that way." the Matoran responded with a grin. Seeing that he still had a displeased expression, the Matoran said "You can either take my proposition or wander the world aimlessly for eternity."After remaining silent for a bit, the Sniper spoke up with one simple word. "Deal." In his small office, the Medic greeted his patients like always, with a smile. His skills were impressive, able to save several lives during the last Mafia game, though nowadays, his treatments were all very simple. Reminiscing of the game reminded him of all those who died, especially his best friend, the Detective. They both aided the village in survival, and while they were successful, it came at a heavy price. To make things worse, the populace had buried all memories of the game from their minds, leaving him the only one left to mourn for his dear friend. A lone Toa of Fire sat in a dark, dank room. Once, he was the mighty leader of a Toa team. He was respected by his teammates and hailed as a paragon of heroism by the villagers. However, after losing ever member of his team during a battle, he was overcome with guilt, his mental state decaying. The last straw came when the 'Mafia' game started, his already fragile psyche shattered. The once heroic Toa became a psychotic pyromaniac, indiscriminately slaughtering innocents and Mafioso alike. After the game, he was at last subdued and thrown into the dank cell he resided in currently, unable to do anything but incinerate the occasional Fikou.Relaxing in his home, the former Spy examined his long unused cloak and knife. He thought back to the Sniper and their rivalry. Even he had to admit that they were equally proficient at killing, as could be determined by the number of Matoran they killed trying to find each other. Still, in their final confrontation, he triumphed over the Sniper, proving hid superioirity at last. And yet, without him, the Spy had nothing to do. He was bored out of his mind, yet he had no reason kill. He sighed, before walking out of his house. Just then, the Spy saw several villagers murmuring nervously at a Matoran with a staff who had mysteriously appeared. Suddenly, the Matoran said "That should be enough suspense for the lot of you! Hello! You may call me JiMing, and I am here to have a game with you all!" he said with a voice that was equal parts charismatic and sinister. "This should be similar to one you've played a while ago. Mafia, was it?" JiMing asked to a crowd that went wide-eyed and had expressions of shock. Smirking, he continued. "Ah... That's right! You convinced yourselves that it never happened! So deeply buried into your consciousness... Must be a shock to remember it all of a sudden, eh?" Noticing several Matoran backing away, he glared at them. "I'm afraid you won't be going anywhere for a while." he said amiably, creating imposing fences around the entire village. "This staff gives me nearly infinite power, convenient, wouldn't you say? Anyways, back to the game. It will be similar, but you don't need to worry. I won't have a mafia of any sort. Rather.... Some old friends of yours will be doing the slaughtering." he said, waving the staff and causing the Sniper's spirit to appear next to JiMing's side. "Yes... This is the one you know as the 'Sniper'. He's very angry at the lot of you, and will be possessing one villager each night. Though he'd be happy if you're all dead, the real target of his rage should know who he is." JiMing said, the words boring into the Spy's ears. "Yes, and it will be up to you to stop him. But he's not the only one you have to deal with." JiMing finished, waving his staff once more, with mad cackling in the distance. "And yes, that is who you think it is. The 'Pyro', correct?" JiMing waved his staff again, and the laughter stopped. "Just now, I have taken the liberty of giving him a Matoran disguise. Not only that, I have implanted false memories into each and every one of you pertaining to his new identity. Your best friend? Could be him." he said with a chuckle, as the crowd visibly panicked. "That should be the gist of things.... Oh wait! I remember! The Medic is still alive!" JiMing shouted, once more waving his staff. "And now you have all forgotten who he was, except for him. Don't I think of everything?" he said with a wide grin. "Unfortunately, the one who would've been your next best ally in this game of mine is dead... The Detective, if I'm right. Mm, what a shame. And one last note. If you take too long to kill the Sniper and Pyro, let's just say you will not enjoy the punishment." JiMing warned, in the darkest tone he had taken yet. "Anyways, with that done... Let the bloodfest begin!" he cried, lifting the staff and disappearing, leaving the villagers as night began to fall. Synopsis The vengeful spirit of the Sniper descends upon the village that hosted the game in which he was killed. His main target is the Spy, the one who murdered him. Joining him is the Pyro, the definition of insanity, whose proficiency in brutal murder has not decreased over the years. The village's only hope lies in the Medic, a powerful healer who can save anyone from near-death. Yet without the Detective to find the culprits or provide suspect lists, this will be a difficult struggle to win for the village. Players 1. Flaredrick Matoran, Killed Night Two by Pyro2. A different player becomes the Sniper each night to kill.Spy (x1) – The Spy remains hidden amongst the Village, being hunted by the Sniper. Despite his skills in murder, he will have no special attributes at the start of the game. However, if the Sniper is killed before the Spy, the Spy gains the ability to [REDACTED]. SpecialHost (x1) – The only role not held by a player, the host is (obviously) me. Every five deaths, I will gain the ability to kill one remaining villager by RNG. Many thanks to Voltex, who suggested the excellent concept and scenario, and to the players who encouraged me to take on this game (I'll accept your request for Spot 19 as thanks). I have noted both of you however, and will add both of you the first chance I get. Statistically, it'd be more likely to have a random villager die the first round. But since this is Mafia.... JiMing
Wait, I made a reference to what? I think the only one I intentionally made in the prologue is one to Majora's Mask. Don't get mad at me, it was a whole lot better than just saying 'Hello.' =POh, and speaking of the Prologue, any feedback on it is welcome. I'm trying to get a good blend of horror and black humor in this game, though I still don't know how serious it would be. Hopefully the scenes will still be enjoyable to read, even if I attempt to expose how completely bonkers the very premise of the series is sometimes. =P Quote Haven't seen one of these in a long time... JiMing
@Pupwa There will never be a Detective, not in this game! @ShadowVezon Are you talking bout the Mafia III games? I'm sure at least one was also in the Third Age and the Pyro has been a recurring role since then. Voltex did lend the concept of the game to me, though. And the premise is that a Mafia game of sorts did happen before in this village... @Baltarc It was mainly a test to see how I would write the scenes, so sorry if I went a bit overboard with it. @Ehks I liked the scenes in Two for All because of the humor, but I didn't want to be a copycat. Chro took a more mature take with his scenes, so I'm trying something different from both. It seems to be working! Edited March 29, 2014 by JiMing Quote Haven't seen one of these in a long time...
