  1. A Harlem Shake video? In late July of 2013? Come on now, surely we can do better than that.
  2. Slightly related note: I couldn't be the only one who thought of Ultraman Leo's sea battle against the Gillas from watching the movie, right? Look, there's the ocean, ruined city and giant hero fighting against two monsters and their alien master and everything. The movie was quite something.
  3. While true, crystal does have diferent "feel" than Stone, I would still argue against because crystals simply aren't comparatively common enough to be a specialized elemental power. While I won't argue the fact that Crystal was considered, I'd still argue against whether it is a good idea or not. And if we are going by the Author's words, I also like to remind that it was also rejected at the end of the day. Crystallization is a complex phenomenon, again I still don't think it's such a common occurence that we need an entire power set dedicated to it. And while true, the water/ice and stone/earth separation is a little silly, it is still relatively explaineable. You could argue that Ice controls temperatures whereas Water doesn't, for example. Earth can also mean soil and clay, things that are not entirely solid like Stone. Stone could also denote raw physical power, seeing as how many Toa of Stone are widely considered the strongest of their respective group. Separating things like Tar, Crystal and Lava into specific categories would be like if we were separate out Air into Steam and Vacuum. Yes, both occur naturally and both aren't exactly Air, but the separation is still a bit, well, plain silly. Just because there was the whole water/ice and stone/earth separation, doesn't mean we should have more of that. If we are going to have Lava as an element, we might as well also have Glass as an element, and separate Water into different stages of water, you dig? The connonation "Ghost" is still a little confusing. I get Fungus and Virus, but again I fail to see the necessity of making them an element, especially when trying to imagine a scenario where a Toa of Fungus would be useful in any location that isn't dark and moist, or how a Toa of Virus wouldn't be single most OP character around for having the power to kill everyone with diseases. Oh no, Alchemy isn't just the process of transmuting gold. Alchemy also has many philosophical and mythological concepts and the "goal" behind varies from culture to culture. In China for example, they try to reach immortality instead of gold. Alchemy also has the idea of symbols, where through the manipulation of symbolic you can cause physical change, and vice versa. Philip Sandifer here explains quite well on the use of alchemical themes on Doctor Who. And I don't quite understand your point on occultism. Sure, occultism has quite an infamy around it, but I don't see how it somehow makes it inappropriate not to be used in fiction. It's not like people are going to imediately stop what they are doing and join the nearest cult because a story used the ideas of occultism. For example, Avatar the Last Airbender uses quite a lot philosophical concepts and ideas from Hinduism and Taoism, which aren't exactly "kid-friendly" either and could be considered "evil" by religious zealots, but that certainly didn't do any damage on the show, quite the opposite really. Or if we are not going to use certain things because it's "evil" to some, what about violence in Looney Tunes? Even Bionicle was based on Polynesian aesthetics and ideas, remember? If you don't find any particular room for alchemy and occultism, sure, whatever man. But arguing you can't use it because it's not kid-friendly? That's just silly. While yes, it is certainly my opinion that Toa should have a wider range of powers than crippling overspecialization, it's still worth discussing is it not? After all, common knowledge tells that a wide variety of opinions is always important to get different points of view and perspective. That's how new ideas and improvements come from, true? Also a bit nitpicky here, but "preference of most fans" is a little too generalizing now isn't it?
  4. Proclaiming to have no achievements, thus illustrating a stepping stone for an achievement.
  5. Morrowind is never boring. Morrowind will just get bored of you.
  6. Guess what time it is people? August. Guess what that means? Well, the end of summer vacation yes very depressing, but also the premiere of Miraculous Ladybug!
  7. But why is Crystal and Tar an element? I mean acid I get, it has some level of basis (though, I still prefer it as a secondary power rather than it's own element), but Crystal and Tar just seem unnecesarry to have an entire power set dedicated to it. Wouldn't Stone technically control crystal as well? Why is Sand, Gold and Silver not categorized into Earth/Stone and Iron? (since I think Iron is just a catch-all term for controlling metal overall. Kinda like how Iron Man isn't actually made of iron but is called that because it's neat). And I'm pretty sure salt isn't crystalized sand. Ghost also seems really out-of-place. Lava and fungi are just reduntant, and virus is kinda interesting, yet still not something atleast I would make an elemental power out of. Also, Mercury and Sulphur I think would be much more interesting if it were based upon western alchemy and occultism. Like say Toa of Mercury, rather than controlling liquid protometal or whatever, would be a fast, ever-changing and untangible force that always moves. It would be a symbolic element, manipulating and innovates through ideas and motifs, rather than just shooting mercury out your hands or something (although that could be a secondary power). Sulphur would be it's counterpart, volatile and diffusive, representing the soul and expression, whereas Mercury is life force and animation. High concept stuff, AND it adhere's the original idea of the Toa as a demigod.
  8. MNOG. ... Never actually played anything other than that.
  9. So hey, is BZPRPG still a thing? Like do people play that anymore or has it gone downhill or something or another? Or should I just make sprite comics or whatever? Man, what do the cool kids here do nowadays? I'm going to lock this, as non premier members are not allowed to make blog entries unless they purchase premier membership.-Nukaya ... Then why make making blog entries an available function?
  10. Depends on whether or not you are voiced by Rie Kugiyama.
  11. Aside from the aformentioned Matoran-human thing, I really don't have much to say. Well, other than hey a RZ-sprite comic that isn't drama.
  12. Probably make switch all that metallic silver they had in 2008 into something more appropriate and interesting colour palette-wise.
  13. MNOG I obviously had the better story, less obstuse gameplay, a better atmosphere and overall just a good Myst-esque game that helped shaped Bionicle in the early years. MNOG 2 is, while kinda step down in many ways, I still kinda like. Mostly because I really liked the whole virtue and principle system it had. Hey, worldbuilding is always neat, and nothing says worldbuilding than an interesting religion and culture. That and Templar's style and graphics. That and the hilarious names they chose for Matorans, half of it were essentially just Finnish words and names.
  14. Skakdi, mainly on an idea level are something really twisted and amazing. Think about it, a race of mutated and brutalized Toa-like creature who were once peaceful and dignified, now reduced to savage and warmongering beasts. It's a really clever twist on the whole "warrior race"-trope in fiction, where the culture was essentially forced on them and costed them greatly. Bring a very interesting dimension to the world and a great villanous act for the Makuta. You could have wrote entire stories out of Skakdi and their struggles with their savage side. ... Of course then 2010 happened and they were reduced to Makuta's mooks. That was lame. There's also the Bohrok, who have kept their edge even after all these years which is quite nice, the what-could-have-been Makuta of 2001, and of course the Matorans. 'Cause we all love Matorans.
  15. My answer to this is that people who wrote this story really didn't think things through at all, and unfortunately never will. Or you could just say life on MU just evolved into the gender binary structure. Makes about as much sense as anything else Great Beings ever did.
  16. Meh. Also, I can see the jagged pixel lines around the eyes.
  17. I don't really like seeing rageguy memes.
  18. Well, that sure is a white background alright.
  19. Wait, why was Naruto there. Why was Sonic there when Naruto left. What are all these animes.
  20. I liked the reinterpretations of the Kanohi masks though. Well, the general art assets and the world were pretty good overall. Everything else is eh.
  21. Man, what happened to the Comics forums man. All the stuff that I used to read are now gone.
  22. Okay, this has got to be the worst depiction of Gali I have seen by far. Yes, even worse than those weird hair-extension creatures and those kookie softies you would find on DeviantArt and the like. Maybe it gets better later, but I am unimpressed by what they are doing. You would think that playing as Gali would awesome, like as this wise, meditative, elemental demigod, but instead we got... Someone who happens to look and be called Gali, who screams a lot. I think this is what people complained about when complaining about Other M, but atleast Other M makes some sense if you know the Metroid lore and emotional context and Samus still gets to do cool things. Though then again, this is a game where apparently Mata Nui was also invaded by aliens, so what am I to call out on character reinterpretations. Also, "romance"? What is this an otome game now? I mean no offence to otome games, they are fine as they are, but this is just transparent pandering to the shippers really. Thankfully it's optional.
