I guess I'm in the minority of people who like the homepage as is. I mean, yeah obviously the stuff that's out of date and broken needs to be cleaned up, but aside from that it's simple to read and navigate. I like it too. It's simple and easy on the eyes. Too many websites today try to be clever and use all these gaudy effects... it's not always bad, but it's often distracting if not utilized well. I like that BZP tries to "keep it simple, stupid", but I imagine that'll change sooner than later. 1 Quote
Toa Smoke Monster Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 I've never seen how the front page looked before 2004. It doesn't look as good as how the front page looked later on, but its still neat to see them. Quote Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

Not really, there's a bunch of different content and subforums for starters. Like I get the original post I was talking about was referring/making reference to the frontpage similarities, but would say it's hyperbole to say you can't feel nostalgia because it's too similar. Sumiki Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 The front page is beset not really by issues of functionality near as much as design. I mean, one could keep the layout the same and simply update all of the JPG artifact-laden graphics. Of course, bringing the actual code of the front page into the current decade would have to be done at some point as well, which would require a more thorough overhaul. I still get a kick out of the old "gift shop" even if I wasn't around to see it in action. Quote avatar by Lady Kopaka
Edelgard Posted January 20, 2015 Posted January 20, 2015 Personally I don't feel much nostalgia since the front page still looks exactly the same. If these were pictures of the forums themselves, it'd be a different story. Quote is this the end?

Nidhiki of the Shadows Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 Oh man, it's funny how the main page looks the same every year after 2004. xD Seeing the old forums was kind of nostalgic. But man! The 2002-2003 site - WOW! That really hit a note... reminds me of 03 when I used to browse this site for the latest news, hoping to find out if Kopaka would survive losing his elemental powers at the end of 2002. I remember my brother reading a rumor saying Kopaka would die and Takanuva would replace him on the team. I didn't join until mid-2004, but that whole year and a half of just spectating the conversations and looking at the Proto-Squad package images is a pretty good memory! -NotS 3 Quote
Rooster Nui Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 The only reason there is nostalgia for me is because I remember seeing the front page for 2004, which has a bit of a orange/red color scheme to it and that was when I saw my brother frequently visiting the site for the first time. Quote

The fact that two topics that were opposites of each other both got into the top 10 list shows how active and interested people were in the Bionicle mythos... ... now all we do is debate about canonization. Rarely is there a thread about something else where lots of people join in to throw in their two cents. I know we don't have a lot of story material to work with anymore, but I still think it's a little bit saddening. Edited January 26, 2015 by TheSkeletonMan939 1 Quote

Anyone remember the second Fruit War? I don't. Please explaaain. It was a ridiculous open RP in the comments to a blog entry. Pick a fruit to support, and from there anything goes. The first Fruit War (which I was not a part of) was apparently done in COT before the rules on RPGs were clarified to make clear rules and structure a requirement. When the blogs became a thing, someone made a blog entry for a second Fruit War. My brother and I, newbies to the forum game, supported the Lemon Club (I guess you had to be there). Eventually that war got shut down when the rules of the blogs were similarly clarified. Not before the entry got a truly ludicrous number of comments, though. I don't know if I'd do it again, given the chance, but at the time, it was fun as heck. 1 Quote Formerly Lyichir: Rachira of Influence Aanchir's and Meiko's brother
