Depends on who you invite to your party. If you invite a bunch of awesome people who will play a board game or watch a movie or bounce along to really cool music or build Lego or just talk about interesting stuff or all of the above, it's pretty sweet. 

If you invite a bunch of jerks who drink adult beverages and tear apart your house and treat girls badly and make a mess, then no, it's not. 

 

But I like debates.

There's nothing to debate there. Debates are over a conflicting belief of what is true, and you wouldn't be able to prove I don't like debates.

Yeah, at some point, life feels like it's going to overwhelm you and you want to give up. All you want to do is think for five seconds, but there's another task. And then another. 

I think actually being in college was rougher than the applications and the AP classes I took before college, but that's just how things worked out for me.

I see that things have happened that may never be healed, and I can see where two foes have become friends.

I just have to say, I have seen the latter happen so many times here, and it gets to me every single time. 

I think of all the people who I thought would never come around walk beside each other and even work together. I have been surprised over and over at how some things just dissolve. 

 

But I like debates.

 

 There is nothing wrong with a good debate. There is an issue when personal attacks and hostility come into play.

 

This forum actually has rules against personal attacks and hostility. 

As a community, though, we've had to go through some bumps in sorting out our interpersonal relations over the years. A lot of those have largely been resolved, and hopefully we will stick together better in the future.

And such is the life of a gal with a very good memory - I remember stuff from that long ago and it comes back when I open a logic book. (And then no one remembers what I'm talking about. )

Man, that was only April of last year? Dang, it feels like an age has passed since then.

The main issue that entry dealt with has been more than hashed out and resolved by this point, but the issue of "what does the word logic mean?" has been thrown around in more tense S&T discussions and a couple of other blog entries I wrote up, so that's why I brought this quote to the fore.
