Keeper of Kraata
I was reading that whist humming 'Deck the Halls', you should know. Fits quite well. Better start working on my character posts... That's quite a devious idea, to avert attack. Good thing the Kalta are deniable assets... One question: how 'open' is the city? Keeper of Kraata
Well, two reasons: Fyura can get in easily enough, it seems, so that's not a problem, but she's specifically wanting to join up with the Legacy, and would like in IC reason to go get herself some antidermis. The other reason is actually a matter of infiltration. Either way, the Snake-level Volitak-wearing infiltration specialist is getting in, but it would help to know if he's scaling the walls or sneaking through the gate. EDIT: Also, I figured something out yesterday: I did state Casanuva was a weapons designer in his backstory, but that hasn't really come through except for his designing his rail sword; I decided that he was talented and creative enough at designing (not engineering, that is beyond him) toa tools. With the exception of Aelied's Greenstaff, he designed the other teammate's toa tools: Kalyss's channeled armor, Vakua's tuning spear, Zueya's coilstaff, and Skorm's reinforced saber. Cyrix doesn't use one, just his crossbow and grapple, and he never really got around to making one for himself until coming up with the rail sword. Krayzikk
I would bear in mind, Keeper, that infiltration isn't easy. Volitak or no. Ko-Koro, as mentioned in the timeskip post, has an early detection system that will pick up anyone approaching the village before they hit visual range. As the specifics of this system aren't known, if the average person knows of it at all, this also means before an infiltrator would likely think to cloak. And due to how it works it would still pick up a trace of them. And that's without considering guards. Given the sheer number of abilities that can see past a Volitak, it's unlikely that at least one or two wouldn't have one. Elements, vision powers, masks, tech, there's a ton of them. And the Legacy ain't so stupid as to overlook that. It's possible. It's also nowhere near easy. On this eve, the thirtieth anniversary of that first colony, many are left to wonder; is the world fast approaching a breaking point? Keeper of Kraata
Yeah, I know it's not going to be a cakewalk. But again, this character's focus is Solid-Snake level infiltration (minus the cardboard box). And: It allows its user to become mostly transparent and completely silent. Skorm is (was) just a brute who uses his Huna's invisibility as a tactical advantage in direct combat. Cyrix uses his mask as a tactical tool to enhance his own reconnaissance abilities. Keeper of Kraata
It says 'mostly transparent' on BS01, so I assume it's sort of like Active Camo from Halo. Timageness
Okay. I asked because some of the interactions that were taking place during his time in and around Ko-Koro sounded like they were suggesting that he was a bit more visible than that. Keeper of Kraata
Well, that's just my interpretation, and my interpretations have been struck down in the past. The Volitak is for people who actually want to use stealth; its better if you are actually hiding. The Huna is more for sneaking past when someone is watching. Ironically, when Vakama uses his Huna in LoMN, that's kind of how I imagine the Volitak works; since the Huna is supposed to render the user completely invisible, that choice was probably made for the movie to make Vakama's actions more obvious. Eyru
How hard is it exactly to detect a Volitak user with just normal eyesight anyway? I've been wondering this since Verulas was still defending the hospital. Detecting a Volitak user has to be taken on a case-by-case basis, because it really all depends on where you are, and how perceptive the people around you are. If a Volitak user is moving around in broad daylight, you'll see her easily. If it's evening and she's hiding in the shadows, then you probably won't see her even if you look straight at her. Think of it as a mask of camouflage: if you're hiding in a good spot, you're practically invisible. If you're out in the open, then your camo's not going to do much good because there's nothing to "blend in" with. The starker the environment, the more likely someone's going to spot you. 2 BRPG Forum Rules • BZPRPG Starter Topic • Q&A Compendium • SK:A Profiles

Simulacrum
I never knew Hakaan was so poetic.I always thought of him as the "shoot anything that moves and then shoot it again" kinda guy.Now I am enlightened. I keep on forgetting to talk about this on a scale beyond private chats, so hopefully this will clear up any (understandable) confusion: I loved the 2006 story and books as much as anyone else, but I can't say with a straight face that the Hakann in canon would be in any way or form an interesting character to read or write. His widely varying levels of intelligence and competence were the only parts of his personality that were actually explicitly stated, besides an over-the-top villainy, with mentions of a narcissism that was only presented with campy melodrama. Now, since that composed nearly the entirety of his personality, I couldn't just abandon the character's basic idea or ignore it and create a diametrically nuanced and entirely different character, but I also couldn't bring myself to play a character who would be a univocal, average thug (especially when he would be surrounded by so many great characters who excel in every area where he fails) and yet still be miraculously unharmed by the other Piraka. I eventually decided on keeping all of the basic ideas of the character, minus the inexplicable stupidity and incompetence, but enhancing them with disingenuous, self-satirizing details or increased depth and far-reaching details and modifiers. For example, Hakann's narcissism isn't solely him saying "god, I sure am amazing and everyone else is worthless", it's his constant, meretriciously grandiose manner, his inability to comprehend existence from the perspective of others, and his search for narcissistic supply through domination and violence, among others. In short, I could be wrong, but I didn't think that replicating the Hakann of canon would be a good idea for the BZPRPG, and decided to change the character, subtly in some ways and overtly in others, for better or for worse. So, he is still the kind of guy who would shoot everything he sees and then mutilate the corpse, but with my interpretation he's also the kind of guy who has as much skill and power in shooting (and planning said assassinations) as equivalently powerful characters, and also the kind of guy who would make sure that A: he can get it away with that and/or face no resistance while doing so, that B: his opponent is unaware of the offensive or otherwise distracted, etcetera. Also, if anyone was in talks about getting tech from Hakann; message me if it was interrupted by my absence! To everyone else; Hakann's in Ko, and he's looking for assistants, so if your character's in the area, would care to be part of something exciting, and/or looking for Vault loot, he's open for petitioning.
