Something that doesn't yield profits

In such a scenario, one has to hope for a Mask of Rahi control(or equivalent), or you're the main course.

Why not Telekinesis? Steal all the money while nobody's looking.

And if you have flight, learn acrobatics and stage an air show.

Oh pssh stealing's no fun :P And hard to get away with, versus using a Komau. "Please sign here to confirm you are giving me the money" (legally binding contracts, hooray?)

Yes, but then when they come out of your Komau-spell, they will seek retribution. Better that they never knew who you were in the first place.

I will drain my energy directly from food, I never really intended to suck the life out of people. I'm an artist, not a mathematician :P I think the police would be more concerned to see me walking around wearing a big freaky mask, pressing my face up against store windows, to be honest. It's not a perfect plan but I'd love to try

I'd preffer to eat the food, so wouldn't the mask of teleportation or  somekind of mask of duplication fit theintended job better?

The Avsa, mask of Hunger. The power to absorb energy and light from a distance from any person or object? That's amazing I can get all the caloric intake I need without even having to buy food or anything and I am always hungry 'cause I'm a poor art student so that's perfect :P

. And you could just turn random people into dark people of shadow to your command !

Why? A king is a ruler who is, ostensibly, the supreme head of state. A government can be set-up so as to elect its kings. The method of coming to power does not necessarily change the power bestowed. Denmark used to be an elective monarchy. Hence all the talk of an election in Hamlet.

That's the key... use the mask to make everyone love you, and vote for you, then "alter" the deal so you're supreme ruler of all haha ;)

Nah, that takes too long. I'm always on the move, I don't have time to actually eat anything :P Though teleportation would serve many different purposes so it does sound appealing.

I think the Ruru is among the worst IRL. A headlamp or a flashlight would serve the same purpose.

Mask of Mutation. Instant cure for cancer (which basically is mutated cells) you'd make a million. (either that or everyone will be after you trying to steal your mask because they want the money lol)

Actually, that's the Mask of UnMutation. Which doesn't exist. The Mask of Mutation would be more likely to give all your enemies cancer (or worse).

Except that those are infamous for running out of power, while the mask does not (at least not reversibly so; it might have to be off for a while to recharge after a duration, but I doubt it since it's such a simple power, and even if so, it's at least going to come back on its own). For cave dwellers, certainly a high priority mask to have. And even for the rest of us, it might be a good second mask if you get a Suva, for nighttime use.

Kanohi Ruru: Useless unless troglodyte.

Didn't bonesiii just explain why it's more useful than people give it credit for?  :glare:

Anyway, I see this question as having two interpretations. One being "what Mask would you wear if you were you in your daily life?" and the other being "What Mask would you wear if you were a Bionicle character?"

For the first, I'd go with the Vahi, life would be so much easier.

For the second, well. I think if I were a Bionicle character, I'd be an Earth Elemental, probably a Toa since in this instance we're assuming the mask is working.

In that event, I'd choose the Mask of Sensory Aptitude to go with my powers.

I think that it was ridiculous that Whenua got the ruru, to be honest, because onu-matoran can already see in the dark. The auxiliary functions of the great form of the mask (glow, x-ray vision) would be useful, but I insist that the mask, overall, is fairly underwhelming. As a matter of fact, the mask would probably be even more useless to troglodytes, such as onu-matoran, because one would expect them to adapt to the dim environment, either with sharpened eyesight (nightvision changes nothing because they can already see), or with heavier focus on the other senses (nightvision changes nothing because they still can't see).

Actually, it can "unMutate" as well as mutate. :)

Quote from Biosector01: "A Mask of Mutation can also undo other mutations, but without knowledge of exactly what the original mutation did, it becomes more difficult to reverse it." So you'd need a good understanding of cancer, but it is possible. :)

I don't think seeing in the dark can really compare to seeing in the light ;)

For one thing, you'd be able to judge distance a lot better and casting shadows helps with orientation and finding tiny cracks and holes and such, and also you'd be able to see colors muuuuch better, whereas in the dark you basically get shapes and outlines. If you've adapted to that you'd see well enough to move around and not hurt yourself, and maybe even well enough to work, but casting a light on everything is much more advantageous. There's also the ability to frighten or blind underground rahi, for example.

Oh! And you could read a book without a shadow obscuring the page cause the light is coming right out of your face! :D

I personally think, that the Mask of Elemental Energy and Emulation would be the most useless in real life, due to the fact that no one in real life has either elemental powers or any powers for that matter.  I'd take Ruru over either of those masks; if I'm spelunking or going somewhere else deep underground I'd rather wear a mask than fumble with a flashlight or anything else.

Actually wouldn't the Ruru's flashlight function be redundant to the Avohkii's powers? After all not only can you use it as a flashlight, you could potentially illuminate entire areas with it.

I hate to pick based on appearance alone, but I'd want to wear a Hau just because it is my favorite mask as far as looks go. If my choice was based on mask power, I'd go for either the Kadin or the Matatu. Both would grant me abilities I can only dream of possessing. I suppose I could have either one in the shape of a Hau. :P

I think that it was ridiculous that Whenua got the ruru, to be honest, because onu-matoran can already see in the dark.

Not exactly. They can see better in low light. But in total darkness, no. Admittedly, their own glowing eyes and heartlight provide some light, but only to very dimly illuminate what's right in front of you. Ruru is far better, even for Onu characters. (Hence why it's there. :P)

The mask is near the bottom perhaps of a list of priority masks, but that doesn't mean it's "useless", it just means that something has to be least useful. :P (I don't know if it's literally least, but anyways, that's not the point of this topic anyways.)

Actually wouldn't the Ruru's flashlight function be redundant to the Avohkii's powers? After all not only can you use it as a flashlight, you could potentially illuminate entire areas with it.

Yes, sort of, but only because it is a subpower anyways of that element, so it's no different than how all subpower masks like Matatu are somewhat redundant to their elemental masks like an elemental mask of Psionics. (Or Freezing, albeit only seen in Kanoka form so far, to an elemental mask of Ice, also only mentioned in Kanoka form.)

But it's only somewhat redundant; the Ruru does it better than the Avohkii in some ways because it's a specialist mask. Likely IMO the Ruru can stay always on, while the elemental mask may have a more normal "use for a while then let it rest" rule. The Noble version also grants you a power the Avohkii doesn't -- ability to see in the dark without illuminating things for potential enemies in the same room. Which can be a good or bad thing depending on the enemy but it means it isn't redundant. Likewise, the Great's ability to see through things a little makes it not redundant (and actually makes it like an Avohkii plus a minor Akaku, so even more useful than both to an extent).

I think the Avohkii's rarity (only one, remember) prevents redundancy.

Well, in the canon it does help. Of course, there's no rule that there has to be only one, it's just only one is known to have been made. And I think the idea of this topic pretty much presupposes that if multiple people want the Avohkii there "would be" more than one, in this hypothetical.

Here's a thought. Let's say a Toa with a Golden Kanohi with six powers met up with two other Toa, both with their own Golden Kanohi that both had six different powers from the other two. And let's say that the merged into a Toa Kaita. One would assume that their 'Golden Kanohi Kaita' would have all eighteen powers in it, correct? If it did, that would be an awesome Kanohi to have. :)

Fishers, I think he was suggesting that each of the Toa had different powers in their golden Kanohi. For example, one could have a Crast, Zatth, Faxon, Rode, Mohtrek, and Calix, while another could have a Hau, Kakama, Miru, etc.

Yes, but given that the Toa Nuva's Golden Kanohi merged together to make an entirely different mask, wouldn't "different powered Golden Kanohi" do as well? Granted, it wouldn't the Masks of Wisdom or Valor, but it would still be a single-powered mask. Albeit ridiculously OP.

Ooooh, this leaves room open for imagination!

Come on guys! Lets think of all sorts of Kaita mask powers!

Aren't we getting a little off topic, seeing as none of us can merge into a Kaita in real life, thus making any Kaita mask powers irrelevant? :P

OOC: So now we get to fight in a burning magnetic cyberspace castle, above a tsunami filled with magnetic flying explosive sharks, where bricks and sharks are being magnetically flung around the room, two people are hugging/tickle-dancing, one person has had his chest explode, and the rules of time and space have completely forgotten that they are supposed to exist. This round is awesome.

True. But's easier to obtain the hypothetical of humans using Kanohi masks than it is to obtain the hypothetical of humans merging together into a Kaita. Both are fundamental impossibilities, indeed.

Point being that in order to get the suggested Kaita mask, such a fundamental impossibility would have to happen. Unless three Golden Kanohi could be reforged together into a Mask of Valor, but that's another question that needs its own topic.

Then this whole topic is irrelivent.

It  does  ask if you could use mask powers.

Now if we could use mask powers then I presume one would have a shred of Toa powers, so merging could also be possible ^_^

Miru Nuva. Because my favourite toa wears it, it's an awesome power, and It's got my favourite shape.

And you could share the power with your friends :D Elevator taking too long? Fly your friends up the side of the building and go in through a window. Throw water balloons at people from 50 feet in the air! Skip the climbing part of climbing trees!
