Kale Ironshaper- Engineering Sector Entrance

IC: Kale ignored the strange tredded Toa, to the point where he stood stock still as the other being tried to push him out of the way.

There was stuff to do before the next round, standing in line was not one of them.

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

GM IC: EZEZKO - DREAMING

There was not much to see; however, Ezezko would notice one of the shops - what appeared to be a cafe selling pizza - was currently manned by an extremely obese Po-Matoran.

GM IC: LYTREL

As Lytrel crawled, the tunnel slowly began to grow in size; however, the Toa would still have to crawl.

GM IC: NOMEC + KOPEN

Nomec stepped towards Kopen.

"Please do not make your situation worse," the Toa of Gravity said. "If you do, I shall be forced to make your death a painful one."

GM IC: XAERAZ

For the moment, it appeared that the rest of the questing crew had not noticed Xaeraz's predicament, or even heard him; hopefully one of them would realize what had occurred soon.

GM IC: THE QUEEN/ALBRECHT/VON WORTEN

The Queen was about to continue responding to Von Worten when the shimmering golden figure appeared among the trees, smirking at the Psionics trio as they stepped closer. The figure reached out, the palm of their hand directed to Von Worten; before either the Queen or Albrecht could react, the mental waves battering them vanished, being re-distributed to an even more powerful spike aiming to pierce Von Worten's mental defences.

GM IC: NOCTON

You would ignore me? The being asked, still speaking directly into Nocton's mind. You are an idiot.

The malevolent mental presence rapidly expanded, surrounding Nocton's mind and cutting him off from the rest of the quest crew. It began to constrict, causing at first only caused a dull headache; however, the pain began to rapidly increase.

Even as this was happening, Nocton would feel his legs growing heavier, harder to lift; almost as though gravity's pull on him was being increased... although he would be hard pressed to find the source and stop it whilst his mind was under attack.

GM IC: DREISEN - ENGINEERING SECTOR

Dreisen sighed as he sat down at the desk that had been set up for him directly outside of the entrance to the Engineering Sector. While he could have designated one of his many workers the task of signing up the first wave of fighters for their mechs, Dreisen had long ago learned that if you wanted something done right, it was best to do it himself.

Perhaps he was also a little biased after being ostracized from his home for years upon years.

That was probably the case.

He grabbed the microphone sitting on his desk and flipped the switch to turn it on, tapping the microphone once before speaking; his words were broadcast across the entire facility.

"To all fighters who wish to have a mech... make your way down to Engineering," he said, sounding bored. "If you are incapable of forming an orderly line, I will club you in the face with my wrench."

He was joking.

Probably.

Well, maybe not.

IC Kat (hallway):

Suddenly I was very pleased that I had heavier armor.

I moved my right foot back into a more stable position, the book all but forgotten on the floor.

My eyes searched the Kaita I'd once been a part of.

"How... You.... Dekako...?"

Somewhere in my mind, I could still feel the faint impressions she'd left in my mind.

There was a lot of pain in those memories...

IC: Prose and Kuro/Locker Rooms >>> Comfort Sector

(Prose POV)

I woke up in the Locker Rooms to find Kuro, who was still asleep. I decided to drop him off at the Comfort Sector to rest, and I headed out to the Commercial Sector to get something cool to drink. Wearing black armor did no good in dealing with heat.

(Kuro POV)

I dreamed of light and darkness, of black and white. And there I was in between, in the gray.

I awoke.

I cursed myself. The first time in a while. How many times will I fail to the same player :P again? But as I made my way to the Training Sector, something in my mind clicked. Besides the fact that my armor was slightly glowing, it was the fact that I was going to check on whether my application went through. I walked to find that an office to request mech had appeared. I walked in awaiting to be called upon.

IC: Aeolin/Knowledge Sector

I turned to Agion who seemed to be in awe of the knowledge. I myself picked up a book on elemental combat. Specifically regarding Air.

IC: Maglev/Knowledge Sector >>> Commercial Sector

I felt kinda lost for not finding anyone in that round so I went to the Knowledge Sector to figure out what had occured. However I became derailed from that thought as I passed by the Commercial Sector where Ignis, began shouting for allies to quest. I walked up to him.

"Ignis!" I greeted him. "How fared you in your second round?"

IC: Dreidel/Training Sector

I went back to the Training Sector to practice my dancing. The idea of a mech sounded tempting. I wonder how it would work.

IC: Linear/Commercial Sector

Still a shadow I landed in my Comfort Sector room. I immediately got out. I spent way too much time in there and it didn't really benefit me at all. I went to the Commercial Sector, specifically the food court, where I was somewhat overwhelmed by everything. I pulled up my ninja hood, covering up my mask, no one here knew me, and it would be beneficial to keep my mask hidden. I passed the Toa who tried to take me out. But since he only had shadows to work with, he wouldn't recognize me easily. I went to pick up a platter of sushi and sat down to eat.

IC: Kopen - Queen's Tunnel

Kopen kept an even distance between them. She almost seemed to be having some kind of muscle spasm as she rapidly jumped from foot to foot, sending a flurry of clicks outwards and towards Cyarc. He was big, that much was for sure. His mask looked like... a Pakari. That would be best to avoid. And judging from earlier, gravity powers. That would make things very difficult.

It would be best to strike fast. Kopen took a half step back before falling into a roll and jabbing her staff directly into the titan's knee.

IC: Virse - Engineering Sector

It didn't take her long to find the gateway leading down to the lower level. The Engineering Sector. Virse took a deep breath and started down the stairs.

A few other contestants had beat her there, but none she recognized. It was probably better that way.

Up ahead, she noticed a Toa with a scrap of paper in his hand. She knew just what she wanted... but did she need to write it down? To do so would mean losing her place in the line... it would be better to just stay. Virse nervously shifted in line, cautiously eyeing the other contestants.

IC: Thaera - Commercial Sector

Thaera sat off to one side of the tables with his staff leaned up by his side. He never quite figured out what Io ate, but that didn't stop him from sampling a few of the wares for himself.

"It's not half as good as what I catch," he absentmindedly murmured to himself as he considered a Dikapi leg. Io buzzed at him disapprovingly and he laughed. "Okay, it's not bad."

Across the way, some loudmouth Toa was going off about a questing opportunity. He was too new to really understand what an Infinity Gem was, but additional powers certainly were tantalizing. He watched for a moment as the group formed up before shaking his head and pushing the food away. He snatched up Io and strode over to the small group. "Have room for another?" he asked, proudly twirling his staff.

OOC: Thaera approaching Ignis' group.

IC: Lytrel

Lytrel continued to crawl.

IC: Yoko

;Perhaps you should check out these mechs,; Haruka spoke in Yoko's head, as the powerless Toa picked herself up off of the hospital bed. ;They could be useful.

Yoko nodded and began heading down there.

IC: Tomo (back in default form)

"Uuuuuugh..."

"Wait, I'm not Coco anymore?"

...

"... I can't run into Naona like this..."

The mention of mechs over the intercom took Tomo's thoughts away from the young Toa of Stone, however, as her feet began taking her down to this new Engineering level.

IC(Kalatin): The gelatin noticed a flash of gray armor on the way out. He reached a tentacle around the dragon's arm. There's your Rahkshi.

IC(A.D.): We're not in the Arena. The dragon stepped out into the hall. Fighting outside the Arena isn't allowed, and I don't want to tangle with her out here anyway. I want to live and go home.

It wasn't too long before A.D. found himself in the Commercial Sector.

OOC: Open for interaction.

IC(Kalatin): Kalatin chose not to follow A.D. Instead, he flattened himself on the top of a bookcase until the Rahkshi walked past him, then slipped out behind her. He wanted to know if the Rahkshi had struck a deal with the tournament organizers, and that was why the Enforcer kept attacking A.D. without cause.

He did not use his mental powers, as he did not want to be noticed, flattening himself against the wall.

IC: Kale just gave Terry an amused look before turning back to Dreisen and politely knocking on the desk.

GM IC: DREISEN - ENGINEERING

The Toa of Iron and Magnetism groaned, rubbing his face with both hands as multiple fighters arrived; judging from the profiles that he had been forced to memorize, they were KuroTerry Terix (the winner of the most recent round, Dreisen noted), VirseYoko, and Tomo

Someone knocked their fist on the desk; Dreisen withdrew his hands, yawning as he eyed Kale (winner of the second round, he remembered).

"So you are," he replied, shrugging and gesturing towards a stack of forms on the desk. "Grab yourself a paper and a pen. Fill it out, and then start a new pile for the completed forms."

He craned his neck as he tried to make sure that the rest of the waiting contestants could see him.

"That goes for the rest of you as well," he called. "Grab yourselves an empty form and a pen, fill it out, and then return them to me. The pens go back exactly where you found them; completed forms go in the pile for completed forms. If any of you find yourselves unable to follow those instructions, then you will find yourselves saddled with mechs suffering very unfortunate and poorly timed errors in the next round."

Karz, I forgot how much this place sucks, he thought. Can't even stand the sight of contestants. I wonder if the Host would let me quit. Actually, scratch that thought; I wonder if I can quit and keep the gems... that'd be nice.

GM IC: NOMEC - BATTLING KOPEN

The massive Toa of Gravity kicked Kopen across the room, her staff being deflected by his armor in the process. With her currently out of the way, Nomec increased his focus on Nocton, causing the pull of gravity on the fighter to increase faster than before.

Kopen, meanwhile, would find herself crashing into the wall on the opposite side of the room before landing near Xaeraz.

Posted

IC: "Oh come on!" Xaeraz sighed in exasperation from his position on the floor. "It's disgusting here and I can't even move! Look, I've memorized this bloodstain's shape. I could draw it with my eyes closed! Now, could someone please put me back on my body?"

IC: Riss easily found the album she was looking for among all the music in the knowledge sector. After all, she had helped create the cover art for Destral Calling. She should be able to pick it out easily! With her album in hand, she trotted out of the Knowledge sector, down the nearest flight of stairs, and began wandering through the lower tunnels to find Engineering.

IC: The Puppetmaster - Engineering Sector.

Calmly picking up a sheaf of paper and a pen, the Great Being found a table to sit down at and begin meticulously writing and sketching his ideas for an exo-suit concept. He just hoped the level of technology here was sufficient to construct something as complex as what he had in mind.

His work complete, he returned to the pen to its place and placed his completed submission form on the pile.

IC: Terry Terrix - Engineering Sector.

Snatching up some paper and one of the pens, Terry found a table and leaned over it, scribbling down the first weird ideas that popped onto his head, pausing every few moments to gnaw noisily on the end of the pen while he thought things over.

A few minutes later, he chucked the chew-up pen with the others, and tossed a crumpled form on the new pile.

IC: "You don't look like you want to be here either." Kale said as he took one of the forms and a pen. He formed a hardlight board that he laid both his own notes and the form on, quickly transferring the information from one to the other.

Placing the form in an empty spot on the desk he asked, "Did they kidnap you as well?"

IC: Yoko

"A mech..."

"Haruka, do you think they can do partially organic mechs here?"

;You're kidding, right?;

Yoko stayed silent for a moment, then wrote down the details of her requested mech on the form.

;... You're seriously gonna wear a copy of my skin as your powered armor.

"Figured you'd like the opportunity to have a body again," Yoko said in response as she submitted her form.

IC: Tomo

"Hmmmmmmmmmmm..."

"Oh, I know!"

Tomo had a very unconventional idea for a mech.

And she submitted that unconventional idea.

She wasn't even sure if it could be called a "mech" at all.

But she didn't care.

OOC: Yoko and Tomo mech requests submitted; will do Eryard and Sudrec later.

IC: Kopen - Queen's Tunnel

The larger being's kick sent her flying across the room and into the opposite wall. Her staff fell from her hand in the impact.

Kopen rolled across the ground with a groan. At least his Pakari hadn't been active. She knew what Pakaris felt like, and she would not be getting up anytime soon after that. She slowly pushed her aching body up and reached for her staff... only to realize what she had thought was a rock was actually a head. A rather familiar head...

She struggled nearer and tried to pick him up. "Xaeraz! W-wha... what happened to you?"

IC: Virse - Engineering Sector

Virse's hand shot up in a crisp salute before she could stop herself, and she slowly made her way to grab the specified materials. Now... how to describe it...

Alarms sounded and frantic cries rang through the small camp of Toa. The Glatorian were attacking. Virse snapped awake and was out the door before she could clear the sleep from her eyes. Already, the multi-colored horde was coming over the crest of a sand dune. There were far too many. It was going to be their last stand.

And then... an earth-shaking rhythm boomed through the camp. She looked up to see the immaculate frame, the two slender legs, and the heavy forward-mounted cannon striding past her. The Relic was in motion.

The Glatorian charge paused for only a moment as the mechanical monstrosity came into view, and then they raced forward with renewed speed. The Relic ran forward to meet them, outdistancing even the fastest Sand Strider. As soon as it left the camp, the armor glowed with heat, and then burst forth in a wall of fire. The dome spiraled outwards, slicing through the enemy ranks. Bursts of plasma followed, decimating the remainder.

All through the display, Toa Virse stood in awe of the might of the Great Beings. Then their commanders gave a war cry, and the remaining Toa charged forward to finish off the stragglers...

The memory came to an end, and Virse snapped back to the form in front of her. And then, she started writing. The Relic provided a good base, but there were a few changes to be made. Heavy armor, great agility, high speeds. Elemental shield, formed by the pilot's own energies. The plasma cannon.

And the strangest ability of all. No one had been able to understand it, and those that piloted The Relic began to call it "The Creator's Touch." It was the only way the mech could have survived as long as it did, after being buried for centuries and fighting countless battles. Given time, The Relic could repair any damage, reattach fractured limbs, and keep joints in working order in the sands of Bara Magna. Nothing seemed to stop it until the Glatorian ambush that fractured it into thousands of pieces. The only way to defeat divine technology was with divine technology.

With a basic write-up finished, Virse snuck up and threw her paper and pen down where the Toa had shown before creeping back to an open space of wall.

OOC: Sorry, Tex, only 413 words. :P

IC: Bajets (Lower Hallways)

Down the stairs. Side to side, weaving back and forth, slowly transitioning from a sophisticated walk to a gliding jog, slipping along the flooring in an almost hypnotic pattern.

Bajets could hear conversation. Conversation, and her brother. The smirk grew into a grin. This was for the time she got stranded on Stelt.

"Hello, brother dear!" Bajets cried, grabbing at Halken's shoulders to spin him around and without pause she slammed her head forward, greeting as painfully as ever.

IC: Nisaduf (Lower Hallways, nearby Engineering Sector)

Meanwhile, a certain hyperactive Fe-Matoran fangirl was eagerly observing the goings-on at the Engineering Sector's entrance. She didn't get in line, but she watched curiously while also scanning a majority of the beings there for later use as parts of an appearance or something.

Mechs. Those are cool. Too bad she doesn't any sort of idea for that, right now. Besides, it's fun enough to watch sometimes, right! Right!

Grinning, Nisaduf happily bounced in place, just watching, and probably pretty recognizable to someone who's seen her before.

IC: Zakaro (Lower Hallways, with Olari, Lekona, and Elittra)

Zakaro was apparently now totally asleep, taking advantage of the probably awkward silence.

Standing up. Leaning against the wall.

It was actually pretty impressive.

IC: Sevyn (Steltian ChefBattle -> Comfort Sector)

"WWWEEEELCOME TO ANOTHER BATTLE OF THE CHEFS! I AM YOUR HOST, THE AMAZINGLY HANDSOME SEVYN, PROTOSTEEL CHEF! TO-DAY WE HAVE A BATTLE BETWEEN FASDUH AND YIER, AND AS USUAL BOTH CHEFS HAVE TO INCORPORATE A SECRET INGREDIENT!"

The Steltian paused, grinning up at the cheering crowds. He did so love his job.

"AAANND THIS SECRET INGREDIENT ISSSSSS!"

With a dramatic raising of his arms, a cover came off a large table, resulting in a burst of steam and mist sweeping over the area and obscuring his vision for a second. As it cleared, he quickly realized that he was not where he once was.

"MAKUTA FISH FILLets..? What?"

He stood in confused silence as the Host's message was relayed to him, transitioning over to slight anger and then excitement. Another chance to prove that he was not only the Best Chef in the Known Universe, but also one of the Best Fighters in the Known Multiverse? Sure.

Without much prompting, Sevyn burst out of his room with a grin on his face and declaration on his lips.

"GREETINGS, FELLOW COMPETITORS! THE PROTOSTEEL CHEF HAS ARRIVED!"

GM IC: DREISEN - ENGINEERING

"Alright," Dreisen said, as YokoTomo, Virse, the Puppetmaster, and Terry all submitted their forms. "You can all bugger off now. Your mechs will be ready whenever you need them."

He turned to Riss. "Same deal as the rest - pen, paper, fill out form, give me back my stuff, continue doing whatever you were doing before."

Leaving Riss to do just that, Dreisen turned to face Kale and gave a dry chuckle at the fighter's question, shaking his head.

This is his first tournament, then. Sucks to be him. He's in for a world of hurt.

"Not in the slightest," he replied, shrugging. "Not this time, at least. It took the Host awhile to convince me to return, and let's be honest; I am already regretting my decision. I'm guessing this is your first tournament; no veteran would be asking me that question. How long have you been here?"

IC(fishers): Did someone say fish fillets? fishers shook her head. There was just too much awesomesauce in this place. First explosions, then gem quests, then a guy who yells everything and does a dramatic entrance!

She couldn't blame the Matoran standing in line for jumping up and down. Still, fishers knew that the excitement would soon wear off. And I am the most unexciting person ever. These tournament hosts have weird taste, and I like it.

Almost there.... Just one more line....

Suddenly, he heard a clanking noise, and turned to see an automaton clanking toward him.

Karz.

Activating the FEDD, he threw a few blasts of hardlight at it, before hitting it with a hammer blow that knocked its visual sensors out. He turned back to his screen, and prepared to enter the final line..... When there was a flash of light, and then nothing.

He awoke in a strange capsule, and as the Host's message played, he wished sincerely that he could hack it, but he had no room to type. Finally it ended, and he ended up in his room. He glanced around, and noting with a sigh that he saw nothing technological to hack. He opened teh door and stepped out, preparing the FIDAT for a basic scan.

IC: Virse - Engineering

Virse nodded and slipped out the door without another word. Even through her nervousness and regret, she couldn't help grinning. The Relic was going to be hers.

IC: Sesdec - Hallways

We find our Hero within the comforts of his own home, partaking in yet another great adventure! 'Twas not of the dangerous sort that required daring escapes and long travels. No, this adventure required merely the occasional turn of a page and a boundless imagination. Both of which our Hero was quite adept in handling.

But alas, having turned so many pages and exercising his powers of creativity to the fullest was wearing on our Hero's constitution. His eyes slowly flickered and then closed, and his head drooped from the chair onto the open pages.

And when he opened his eyes once more, an incredible sight awaited him. 'Twas a room, with bed, chair, and table. But 'twas not his room, nor any other room in his home!

"W-where am I?" Sesdec stammered as his frantic gaze searched the locale. He nearly jumped out of his armor as a voice began to play. He didn't want to hear what it had to say. He just wanted to return to his humble abode! Sesdec staggered back until he felt the door handle, and then threw himself out into the hallway. The change in scenery did little for his nerves. Endless doors, a wide expanse of hallway, and all manner of beings roaming about, some of which he had never seen the likes of in his rare escapades in the Outdoors.

Sesdec nervously grasped at his sides, his eyes the size of widgets. His breath came in ragged gasps, and his tongue struggled to form a cohesive sentence. At last, he pushed out, "N-n-n-n-nonono... N-n-n-nonono... N-n-no n-n-no n-no... This c-c-c-cannot b-b-be h-h-h-happening... N-n-no... 'Tis b-b-b-but a d-d-d-dream... 'tis b-b-b-but a d-d-d-dream!"

His dazed wanderings took him out of the Comfort Sector and into the wide hallways with new sights and new beings to greet. His wide eyes saw none of it, and he surely collided with more than a few. It seemed his imagination had the best of him this time.

GM IC: NOMEC - BATTLING NOCTON

As the fighter caused the room to begin flashing, Nomec simply closed his eyes; while it would be harder to target Nocton without sight, the Toa of Gravity knew that the fighter would be unable to move away from his current position while under the double gravity and psionics assault. He could therefore continue to increase the level of pull on Nocton for the time being without missing the fighter entirely.

The only fighter that might pose an issue was Kopen; however, he was certain that she would either be too disoriented or distracted by Xaeraz to attack him before he could hear her approach.

GM IC: NOCTON

The pull of gravity on Nocton continued to increase; the armor on his lower legs was slowly beginning to fold in from the pressure, and Nocton would feel his body being pulled towards the floor.

You are weak, the presence whispered in his mind, constricting even tighter. Nocton would now be experiencing a full-on migraine.

GM IC: DREISEN - ENGINEERING

Dreisen shrugged. "Some do. Sometimes you're never called back - that's when you know that you're lucky. Sometimes you'll only be called back for two or three tournaments... usually if this happens you never come back because you've died, although some fighters manage to fade away and become forgotten. And then you have fighters like me, who get dragged back so many times that we lose count. It depends on both your performance in the rounds and how you act."

He eyed Kale with narrowed eyes, examining the fighter.

"You won the second round, but pride yourself on your low kill count... if you want to return for another tournament, that's definitely a recipe for success."

The Toa paused, letting the words sink in.

IC Feraz:

Feraz was distracted by the person who wandered out, stuttering. Intruiged, he followed, taking a hasty scan of the area around him.

IC Nocton:

Barely able to think as the Maxilos's legs, impossibly, began to crush under a pressure that was somehow exponentially higher then that at teh bottom of the sea, Nocton yelled, "NO!!! I AM NOT!!! YOU'RE THE WEAK ONE, LETTING YOUR MINIONS AND POWERS DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU!!! I'VE KNOWN MAKUTA LIKE YOU.... THEY ALL DIED!!!"

Barely rational, Nocton charged up his Fragmentation gun, firing all six rounds at random.

IC: Halken stumbled, flailed a bit, and fell to the floor, rubbing his head and laughing, probably the loudest laugh any of the fighters present had heard from him, save Bajets herself.

"Why, I would know that concussion anywhere!" He rumbled as he pushed himself to his feet and grabbed Bajets in a giant bear hug. "Sister! What brings you to this tourney? Last I heard, you were busy on Zakaz!"

IC: Riss nodded to Dreisen, taking the form and wandering back over to where she had noticed Nisaduf. She laughed and gave her assistant a hug, then motioned for Nisa to sit against the wall with her. Riss passed Destral Calling over to the fe-matoran and asked, "What do you think? Looks like a pretty good mech, huh?"

IC: "Oh thank Mata Nui! Kopen! Something cut my head off! I need you to reattach it to my body so I can fight back!" He paused to cough, then continued, "That was the worst floor I've been face down on since I got here. Nothing compares to Karzahni, thankfully, but still!"

"Different universes, different universes..."

What did that Ma-TOR-an mean by that?

Anyways, there had been an announcement for some sort of mech construction. All fighters that wanted one were to report to "Engineering". Reaching the lower levels, I began muttering to myself.

"Mechs, mechs, mechs... Would that count?"

1050000 years before the Shattering, the first year of the first War of the Enemy:

"She might not be a beut, but ###### does she handle like a dream."

The Head Mechanic had been giving the newly promoted Lieutenant Eryard a tour of the new prototype. A "Thornatus", they had called it. This particular model was the armored version, covered in thick Exsidian-alloy plate and crystal where the regular models featured an open cockpit.

"This will be your Platoon's new recon vehicle, though it can definitely take down a few Enemies in open combat if need be. Take it for a spin."

A curious Eryard turned on the engine...

*****************************

102500 thousand years ago, the second year of the Third War of the Enemy

"Coming in too hot! Bracing for imp-"

And there went Obb from W-4 Platoon.

Sighing, Eryard shifted gears and worked his way through the trees, careful not to slam his vehicle into a tree and suffer the same, unfortunate fate as the new guy. Though, he was piloting a Kaxium...

Thankfully, the trees were beginning to thin. They would be driving or more hospitable terrain soon -

"Enemy contact! Enemy contact! ENEMY CONTACT!"

This wasn't in briefing. Did they learn our movements?

As the trees thinned, the combined forces of F-3, W-4, and Ir-1 raced out to meet the enemy...

*****************************

99000 years before the Shattering, the seventh year of the Tenth War of the Enemy.

It was gone.

Everything was gone.

Marendar-5, the last stronghold, the last hope of Spherus Magna, had fallen.

In one final master stroke, the Enemy had managed to eliminate the High Command of the United Army. All but three of their generals, dead. How they did it, no one knew.

But did anyone care at this point?

Eryard had managed to succeed in evacuating a handful of refugees from the city, but where would they go? The entire planet belonged to the Enemy now. It would only be weeks, if not days, before the Enemy would find the survivors and put the final nail in the coffin.

Nobody from F-3 was left, none of the Iron Riders had survived. Noble Lyndae, kind Tyrax, and brave, brave but foolish Sudrec, the last remnants of the force, now nothing more than dust in the wind, having given their lives for an ultimately lost cause.

They were gone, and soon, everything on this planet would join them.

Soon, there would only be the Enemy.

Even the Thornatus, Eryard's noble chariot, had at long last given up its ghost. A broken suspension, a leaking fuel tank, a shattered battery; it was now nothing more than a useless pile of scrap.

Just like all of us...

It was gone. All of it was gone.

So why should he remain?

Why should he survive to witness the end of a story he already knew?

It would be more honorable to say his final goodbyes now, and join his companions across the veil.

...

Eryard threw a lit match into the leaking fuel tank.

But he never got to burn.

*****************************

If I could... Maybe if I could take her out... Relive those days?

"Sir?"

A familiar voice.

I spun around and spotted a cloaked figure staring at me

"Captain Eryard? It's me. Corporal Sudrec. Remember?"

He was here.

But he died.

He fell in Marendar-5.

And yet here he was, an old man.

A silent "what" escapes my lips.

... How?

Without warning, I surge forward and grabbed his wrists, activating the telepathic implants in my body.

A war won.

An Enemy defeated.

Iron giants and iron spiders, piloted by the most valiant warriors of the land, laying waste to the eldritch forms of the Enemy.

*****************************

99000 thousand years before the Shattering, the end of the Wars of the Enemy.

"Well, that was a rousing success," a cloaked being says to another similarly clothed, but younger individual.

"Truth be told, I was actually expecting the Combat Exosuits to fail. I had thought the bipedal systems inefficient and downright stupid. Evidently I was wrong."

"Well, somebody in Engineering is throwing a wild party tonight. As are all of the men and women who lived to see the end of this and beat back the Enemy."

"Indeed. I for one am glad I could play a part."

The older of the two beings sighed, his posture sagging. "You know, I was worried about you. Recklessly running off with the Riders like that; a Great Being ought to conduct himself in different manner."

He gave a small chuckle and straightened out his posture.

"Oh well. I suppose all's well that ends well."

The two beings walked side by side in silence, before the younger of the two spoke up.

"... Brother Heremus."

"Yes, Brother Sudrec?"

"What if we could build a robot like the Exosuits, but bigger?

*****************************

...

Was this true?

Was there some place, some storybook reality, where the Enemy didn't consume Spherus Magna?

Was there some realm where he, and all the others, survived?

I looked down at my feet, not sure what to think.

"... You're not the Sudrec I know."

Sullenly, I turned away from the now-old man, looking between the cold, hard ground and the piece of paper in my hand. While I was happy for this version of Sudrec...

It could have been different for my world.

It could have been a happy ending.

"It could have been..."

Staring down at the sheet of paper, I finally begin making markings on its white surface.

Mech Name: Thornatus-AR V1.

Pilot Name: Eryard.

...

"One more time, old girl..."

IC: Sesdec - Hallways

If one of the many beings surrounding him happened to be tailing him, Sesdec was far too stunned to notice. Our Hero merely continued his wanderings and his ramblings, desperately searching for some small glimmer of familiarity.

IC: Kopen - Queen's Tunnel

Kopen nearly dropped the head as it started speaking, and then she turned the severed head over and over, still not quite understanding why. All the same, it filled her with relief that he wasn't dead this time. "H-how do I do that... w-wait, Karzahni?"

IC: Mirror - Hallways

Mirror suddenly spun as a sickening thud, followed by raucous laughter rang from nearby. Halken was under attack... or something... by another Skakdi! Mirror nervously wavered where he stood, trying to decide whether his help would make things better or worse. Fortunately, it didn't seem to be necessary. He stepped up beside Halken to greet his apparent sister with a small grin.

IC Feraz:

Feraz ran forward, trying to pass the TOa to face him and talk to him.

Kopaka, the coolest(Pun intended) Ko-Toa ever:

Kale Ironshaper- Engineering Sector Entrance

IC: Kale met the other Toa's eyes for a second before looking down at the desk with a sigh.

"I am not proud that. Merely trying to take some comfort in whatever lack of suffering I have caused. I have killed before, both on and off the battlefield. My ability to take the life of sentient beings is not something I wish to show off for the amusement of others."

A thoughtful pause broke the flow of words before he continued.

"Thank you for your advice. If you ever need help with something feel free to ask me, I'm always ready to aid a friend."

With that he turned and made his way to what was now the middle layer hallway. From what he heard this was the best place to find Infinite Gem tunnels and the extra lives as well as a new power sounded like they would be a helpful addition about now.

This needs to end.

"I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. I am their sword and their shield. If you want to strike at them, you must go through me, and I am not so easily moved."

IC: Bajets (Lower Hallways, with Halken & Mirror)

She grunted in slight disapproval, though a slim smile did make its way across her face at Halken's greeting.

"Same as the rest of you," she drawled, voice dripping with sarcasm. "The Host, Queen, and Enforcer, who else? And yes, I was last on Zakaz. Though with my luck I would've had to break you out of Xia for fighting the Mountain."

"..Again."

IC: Nisaduf (Nearby Engineering, with Riss)

Grinning happily, the Nynrah Ghost took it and looked it over, scanning it quickly enough and nodding in reply.

"Looks good! Really good, honestly! It's got the bass and the guitar and the model and coloring all set out, makes it pretty easy to take and put on paper for this guy! I bet they could even make it so that you could literally play specific songs to do stuff, or attack, like you normally do! I'm guessing that's the base for the mech you want them to build then?"

Ouch. She can practically hear how forced the words were. Like she's trying to be enthusiastic but it just sounds hollow, empty. Like an Illusion. Maybe dying shook her up more than she thought. Or perhaps it was talking with that organic guy, if it could be called talking. More like she was talking at him than with him.
