I hope someone makes Episode 3 the big one like the last games.

I'm fairly confident the game will soon start speeding up a bit, thanks in no small part to Pahrak.

While I wait for one conversation to end, here's a peek of what I have for Episode 2 so far:

Episode 2 Sneak Peek
Pahrak entered Tuma’s Chamber, accompanied by two Skrall. He had returned from Tesara, and was to report on  his visit to Tesara. As usual, Tuma was sitting in his throne, holding up his head with one of his hands. To his side was a moderately annoyed elite Skrall, and half a club next to them on the floor. A somewhat curious sight, but Pahrak paid it no mind.

Tuma’s eyes wandered over to look at Pahrak. “Agori. Report on your visit to Tesara.”

Pahrak bowed, careful not to disrespect Tuma. “Yes, Mighty Leader. They seemed quite hesitant to let me in, but when they did, I inquired about their feelings towards the offer - the villages are still very divided on it, they say. I illustrated more of the benefits of our protection, but they were still hesitant to decide. I did propose an arena match to display the strength of the Skrall, but unfortunately, they would not accept. They said they already know of this strength, and it seems they were scared to test it - their Glatorian was shaking in his armour.” The two Skrall nodded in unisom, muttering about how Andekas was not much of a warrior, while Pahrak shook his head. “I am very sorry, Mighty Leader. I would have insisted, but hearing that tensions are so high, I worried that pushing too hard might cause Tesara to snap in twain, and thought it best to avoid that. I did, however, tell them that we could host the match either here or in Atero if that would calm their nerves.” Looking up slightly, Pahrak added, “In truth, I have been thinking about that on the return trip, and I believe I have thought of a possible alternative should Tesara continue to decline. May I share my thoughts with you?”

Tuma leaned forward, clearly with interest. “Share them with me. I had my own thoughts… but you are an Agori, and so are they.”

EPISODE TWO

THE BARBARISM OF BARA MAGNA

-ROXTUS-

-Voltex-

IC: Voltex (All), Onaku (After Entrance)

Voltex entered the dwelling, the fourth to the west, in the first row. It belonged to Onaku, or so the Skrall had told him. Onaku had always been one of Luroka’s contacts - not his, and part of him wished Luroka could have joined him. Unfortunately, the timing for their plan, whatever it is, would not allow it. He was  unsure if he’d actually entered the right dwelling, though given that he had been told not to enter any other dwelling, he hoped he had.

“General Onaku?” he blurted out.

He glanced around the dwelling, and was met with a rather spartan dwelling - one that spoke of hardened person, one who lived in circumstances out of their control, one who had clawed their way through hardship to arrive at their current position. A skrall shield missing a few of its teeth was hung upon the wall, painted with a pattern Voltex did not recognise at significant.

A few moments later, Onaku arrived. “Voltex, I presume. Luroka has spoken well of you. What is it you require?”

Voltex gestured at the shield. “A fancy shield. You certainly have done well for yourself, if you can afford to hang something like that on your wall as a decoration.” He smirked. “I can see why Luroka associates with you. He would no doubt be impressed with your accomplishments.” He held out his hand. “Voltex, at your service.”

Onaku accepted the handshake, holding with a firm hand that inspired confidence. “I’m pleased to make your acquaintance.”

It was still too early to ascertain if Luroka had made a wise choice in trusting Onaku - Voltex still had more to speak of. Preferably in a place more private, where no prying eyes or ears could hear. “Do you have a private office we could retire to? I am uncertain of how much Luroka has shared with you, but what I intend to speak of would be best kept private for the time being.”

Onaku motioned to his office. “Yes, of course.”

Voltex followed Onaku into his office, sitting down in the nearest chair as Onaku sat behind his desk.

“Before we begin, I must ask how much Luroka has shared with you, or how much you have figured out on your own. It will save us some time.” Voltex did not intend to sell Onaku short - presuming that he had not figured anything out would simply be disrespectful of such an Agori.

“I’m aware of some things, but I can’t be sure it’s everything. What do I need to know?” Onaku asked.

Voltex leaned forward. “I tire of Bara Magna, and my tribe’s endless exile. I tire of our barbaric traditions, and the way we decide trade and politics by wagering on one Agori beating another half to death for sport. I tire of the rifts that divide each tribe.” He leaned back. “Long ago, a plague took away most of my brothers and sisters in Iron. They found themselves unable to dream, and it drove them mad. But not I. I have dreamed, on and on. I have dreamed so many dreams, Onaku. Of a better home, a better life, a better world. And soon, I think, is the right time to turn those dreams into a reality.” There was a heavy pain underlying his words, and simultaneously, confidence. He knew this world all too well, and he knew he was not alone in being tired of the farce of a world that was Bara Magna.

Onaku was left silent for a few moments, then nodded. “I understand your goals and motivations quite well. I have similarly mused about the inadequacy of the status quo. But what do you intend to do about it? What is your plan?”

Voltex smiled, the question amusing him. “Bara Magna; as it stands right now; only knows and respects one language: violence. It is my intention to give them all a common enemy to fight, with myself and my allies at their head.” He paused, and in that pause, it almost felt like an entire day passed for both Voltex and Onaku as tried to find the words to express his thoughts. “My plan is to form an alliance with Iconox and the Rock Tribe, to begin with. I would prefer the Skrall to join of their own volition - it will allow us to accelerate the plan - but so long as they are not against us, I will not complain. With the strength of two tribes behind us - or three, if Luroka is successful - I intend to go to war. Tesara is self-destructing, and they sit atop invaluable resources. We will approach them; they will either accept our aid and our rule; or be eradicated. From there, Vulcanus, and Tajun if necessary, will be unable to stop us from establising a new order. They will be forced to evolve.” Voltex shrugs, pausing to catch his breath. “There are details I have not shared, of course. Some because I have learned you should never trust any ally with all your information. Some because they are simply unnecessary. And others will be filled in as the plan proceeds, for I do not wish to waste time turning my plans into a fantasy.”

“Hmm…” Onaku thought about Voltex’s words for a moment, before replying. “Very well… what is it you want me to do?”

“Simply to command the Agori forces of the Rock Tribe, and to serve as an intermediary with Lord Tuma, should negotiations with the Skrall become necessary.”

“Sounds reasonable enough to me. Let me know if there’s anything else you require.”

Voltex stood, and shook hands with Onaku. “I certainly will.”

He exited the dwelling, and began his journey toward Atero.

-TAJUN-

-Luroka-

IC: Luroka (All), Terrorsaur (All), Underscore (All)

Luroka approached Tajun, stopping in the middle of a grisly scene: three dead Fire Agori and two dead Bone Hunters. If Tajun had not yet noticed, it would almost certainly be blamed on him. He couldn’t help but feel that this might get in the way of the plan, especially once he saw two Water Agori running toward him - Terrorsaur, General of the Water Tribe, and Underscore, Diplomat of the Water Tribe.

“Greetings, traveller. Apologies for the current state of our border… We don’t know any more about it than you do. How can we help you?” Terrorsaur really hoped Luroka would not get the wrong impression of Tajun - while Luroka simply sighed in relief that he was not being taken prisoner or shooed off. What was even more surprising was the fairly amiable tone Terrorsaur had greeted him with - a rarity on Bara Magna.

“Uh, I would like to make an unorthodox request of your diplomat, Underscore, I think, if he would listen?” Luroka really hoped they would listen - it was important to him.

“Go ahead.” Underscore replied.

“Voltex sent me here to ask for sanctuary during our travels, in case we might need it. As you know, we are not welcomed in many places. I know it’s a bit much to ask, so I will understand if you decline.” Luroka braced for the answer, whether it was yes, no, or a thornax to the face. He was all-too-familiar with the last one.

“We’ll have to talk to Jed and Manducus before making that decision… do you want to wait here while we go back?” Underscore was quite aware of what reaction most Water Agori would have to Luroka.

“I think  I’d prefer going with you. This is a rather gruesome scene, and with our reputation, I wouldn’t want people getting the wrong idea, if it’s all the same to you.” Luroka was even more aware of what standing the middle of a few dead bodies would do for an Iron Agori.

“Yes, of course. Just, uh, follow me.” Underscore turned, and started heading back toward Tajun with Terrorsaur as Luroka followed.

The trio entered into Jed’s hut, explaining Luroka’s requests in short as a very large number of Water Agori ran into their own huts, occasionally throwing both sharp and blunt objects in his direction. Thankfully, they missed.

Jed looked at Luroka, then out at Tajun. “While it may be an unpopular decision among the rest of our people, I am also willing to offer a temporary sanctuary here in Tajun.” Jed stressed the ‘temporary’ - too long, and some Water Agori might just begin to riot.

“I thank you very much for your generosity. This deed will not be forgotten. Voltex and I owe you one. In any case, I’m due for a meeting, so I’ll be leaving now.” Luroka nodded, hoping Tajun would keep its word as he left the hut and set out for Atero.

“Safe journeys, traveller.” Terrorsaur waved goodbye, hoping Luroka would not encounter any trouble.

-GATHERER’S RIDGE-

-Hyethut-

IC: Hyethut (All)

Hyethut arrived at Gatherer’s Ridge, accompanied by 30 of Tesara’s soldiers - split between each village. He’d intended for them to bond, and perhaps partially heal the divide between Tesara’s villages by doing so. Their trip had been relatively peaceful, barring one long-dead Agori thought to be of no import.

They were here to find any worthwhile mineral desposits, exsidian chief among them, and not start a war with the barbarians known as Bone Hunters - who did frequent this territory, Gatherer being a slang term for Bone Hunter. Hyethut had sent one of the younger soldiers to scout ahead with an older and more experienced partner, with a horn to sound in case they were in any immediate harm - though they were to be as quiet as possible otherwise.

Even a trace of exsidian could indicate more underground here - and if they could find even some exsidian, that would be enough for Hyethut. By Grunkhar, I pray that I did not come here to find nothing.

His thoughts were interrupted when the scouts had returned, a panicked look painted across their faces, covered with beads of sweat and the sound of rapid breathing. Unsettled that military scouts would return in such a state, he ordered his men to drop their tasks of searching for exsidian and to form a square schilltron formation surrounding himself and the scouts - a good formation against cavalry like Bone Hunters on Rock Steeds. Hyethut demanded that the scouts answer truthfully and hastily  as to why they were exhausted and had panic in the eyes, threatening that they would be lashed if they gave him a good scare for nothing.

One of the scouts, the younger one,  gestured to the north. “We found a crater, about four miles that way. It was definitely new, you could even see scorch marks. But Bone Hunters were in the centre. We couldn’t make out what they were surrounding, but they were clearly trying to do something with whatever made that crater, and… and… “ The scout turned away, proceeding to vomit - not a terribly pleasant sight.

The older of the scouts spoke up, continuing what the other was going to say. “There was a Bone Hunter that we could see. But he was dead, but not in any normal way. It looked like the blood was drained from his body, with their skin practically draped over the bones, and one of the arms was not even there - just an outline of dust was.”

Hyethut was disturbed, but intrigued. He raised his head, but did not take his eyes off of the two scouts, and stayed calm. “Show me this crater.”

He ordered his soldiers to stop the formation they were in, and resume searching for exsidian, with five soldiers to accompany him and the scouts as they walked for the crater. As they neared the perimeter of the crater, the scouts told Hyethut and the soldiers to keep low and quiet, so as to not alert the Bone Hunters.

Can it really be? A prize from Grunkhar sent to empower Tesara in this uncertain time? Or a curse struck upon the greed of the Bone Hunters and any others unfortunate enough to try and lay claim to it… Hyethut recalled the meteorites in the sky that many others had seen - could this be the crater of one of them? As he peered into the crater, he saw that the Bone Hunters had already secure an item in a crate - whatever it was, if it was one of the meteorites. Oddly enough, there was a Bone Hunter neither of the scouts seemed to remember in the group - an elderly Bone Hunter, just barely able to walk among the eight Bone Hunters  in the crater, accompanied by four Rock Steeds.

Grunkhar curse them.

-TESARA-

-Andekas-

IC: Andekas (All), Timelord (All), Lan (Before Exit)

Timelord sat in his chair, and motioned for both Lan and Andekas to sit. “Our General has gone on an expedition to Gatherer’s Ridge to find exsidian. This is a deeply important task - if we can find exsidian, we will no longer need to rely on Iconox. However… we do not want to instigate a war with the Bone Hunters lest they raid upon our twin villages. To that end, Andekas, I want you to go to Gatherer’s Ridge with 10 more toops. He may encounter Bone Hunters, and they would listen to a fighter like yourself over any diplomat. Their language is one of violence, not peace. If the worst happens, you are a great fighter, and Hyethut is a great general - give them a warning. Tesara is not weak.”

Timelord turned to Lan. “Lan, I want you to go to Tajun and form an alliance, form a basic trade deal and a mutual agreement not to attack each other. For your safety, given the state of their trade, I will send 20 troops to accompany you and a small supply of agricultural goods to act as a peace offering. I know it is a tall order, but I am confident in your abilities to negotiate.”

Lan nodded. “Yes, Leader Timelord. I will begin preparations immediately. Simply send for me when the troops are gathered.” Lan exited the hut, giving Timelord the Tesaran Salute, and proceeded over to his own to draft the official treaty of alliance, making sure not to forget any of Timelord’s requests.

Andekas stood up out of his chair, and nodded at Timelord, awaiting for his own time to set out impatiently. He twiddled his thumbs, thinking about how it had been a long time since he had last fought - in the arena, or out. “It’s been four weeks since I last fought, I hope you are aware, brother. If things go badly with Bone Hunters, if we encounter them at Gatherer’s Ridge, I will enjoy it but I may not be at my peak performance. I know that we hope it doesn’t come to that, but it would be nice to fight.”

The guards in the room gave Andekas odd looks, as did Timelord. “Well, even if you don’t fight Bone Hunters, I’m sure you will fight in the arena soon.” Timelord gestured to another guard to come over. “Get six chariots ready. Four for Andekas’ mission and two for Lan’s. On one of Andekas’ chariots, put a wheeled cart and some canteens of water in it. Thank you.”

The guard opened their mouth to speak, concerned. “Sir, I hope not to speak out of line, but it will not be long before we start running low on water. If we do start running out of water, the tensions between our two villages is going to get critical - and dangerous.”

Timelord looked at the guard for a moment. “Then Andekas’ mission will no longer carry the water supplies. Inform Lan that we also need to arrange a trade for water with Tajun. When you return, we will work out how to ration water.” Timelord turned to his brother. “Still, take the wooden cart. If they find exsidian, we need evidence. You may go. May you come back successful and safe.”

Andekas nodded. “So be it, brother.” He walked off, then sprinted up to Lan. “We need water - when you return, bring a caravan of water. Our remaining water supply is dangerously low.”

“Thank you for the information, Andekas. I have finished the official treaty, and was about to inform Leader Timelord. I will be sure to return with as much water as Tajun will allow me.” Lan nodded, and departed for Tajun.

Andekas nodded to Lan as a goodbye gesture, and turned around, walking back to his brother’s hut. For a moment, a smirk hid beneath his helmet. He stood in the doorframe, and knocked on the door to announce his return, escorting himself into the hut and sat upon the floor, beginning to meditate. “I will go when I have replenished the tad of energy diminished.”

One of the guards simply looked at Andekas. with bemusement, thinking that Andekas should probably hurry up and go to Gatherer’s Ridge.

“Take your time, but I would like you go soon. I have a feeling something is off”. Timelord looked on at the meditating Andekas, then walked over to a bookshelf, pushing it aside to reveal a basic weapon stash. He picked out a thornax launcher, and handed it to his brother. “Thought my little brother could use some extra safety.

Andekas simply could help but feel a little bit patronised, as an agori raised to be a warrior from birth. Perhaps this was subtle encouragement to leave for Gatherer’s Ridge.

-ATERO-

-Nato-

IC: Nato (All), Luroka (After Entrance), Voltex (After Entrance), Sahmad (All)

Nato had arrived at the outskirts of Atero, seeing a black-and-orange Agori with their back to him sitting by a burnt-out campfire nearby. “Hello?” he called out, unsure if the Agori would respond.

They did not, as predicted. It even seemed as if the Agori chose to ignore his presence, and was pretending not to hear his greeting.

“My name is Nato, diplomat of Iconox. Who are you?” He asked, unsure of the Agori’s identity - and if they would even asnwer.

They did.

“Sahmad.” The Agori did not turn around to greet Nato, and Nato could hear them spitting into the campfire. “Whatever it is, here’s what I’m guessing: you’ve been sent to track me down, and bring me to Iconox for imprisonment or execution for daring to interfere with your trades, of which I hardly have a choice because all the rest of you will simply not let us live normally.” His voice was bitter - very bitter.

“Sahmad… of the Iron Tribe? Slaver, thief, survivor… I’ve heard a lot about you.” Nato kept his distance, not wanting to provoke the infamous Iron Agori by invading his personal space. “I’m afraid you’ve guessed wrong. I’m not here for you. In fact, I’m not entirely sure why I’ve come here.” Nato thought back to his meeting with Tuma. It did not go as expected, to say the least, and many of his illusions about Tuma and the Skrall had been shattered.

“Then why did you com here? Why speak to me, in particular?” Sahmad asked, as he stood up and turned around, his eyes piercing Nato.

“Why I’m here is a long, complicated story. As for why I’m talking to you… well, you seem to be the only one here.” Nato looked around. He could not see anyone else outside Atero - not entirely surprising, since right now there was no major arena battles held at the Arena Magna, nor a tournament.

“There are others within Atero itself, but I have not seen anybody that looks important.” Sahmad looked toward the entrance of Atero. “I do not know for certain, I only enter when I absolutely have to. Every second spent here is a second spent supporting a pretence of peace,” Sahmad sighed, then a malicious smile spread itself across his face. “And that’s the thing… it’s just so blatantly untrue, delightfully so. Every tournament, more Agori conveniently go missing while visiting Atero than any other part of Bara Magna. I suppose that’s the irony of it all, isn’t it? Here we stand, outside the village and arena that stands for and supports Bara Magna’s ‘peace’. A village I so despise for meaning so much to the world I do not care for, and yet during tournaments it brings me more success than anywhere else!” His voice sounded slightly too joyful, and it was clear he did not think much of Atero or the Arena Magna.

“Then I fear our purposes here are at odds. You seek to profit from the tournaments. I seek to abolish them.”

“Because there is no other alternative for the Iron Tribe. I do not care for the tournaments, they are just opportunities that contribute to my survival. I can slave elsewhere, and you should know there is more to the name ‘Sahmad’ than slavery and survival.” Sahmad paused to look at the burnt-out campfire, reminiscing of a long-forgotten past. “But, until this world stops seeing us as monsters, then monsters we will be. If you so wish to change this world even slightly, by stopping the oxymoron of battles held in the name of peace, then I offer you my hand. Take it, if you so wish… or don’t, and spurn it like all the rest of Bara Magna. I’m used to it.” Sahmad gave Nato a stern look.

“I would be grateful for any assistance you could offer, but changing Bara Magna is no small task. The two of us alone cannot accomplish it.” Nato knew that two Agori could not change Bara Magna. Especially not when one of them was an outcast.

“And yet this world became so because of the Earth Tribe’s leader. I’m being sickeningly optimistic, please excuse me.” Sahmad looked upwards, at the sky, then his surroundings, surveying the distant dunes. “Who would you have assist you?”

“I’ve already tried to enlist the Skrall, but Tuma seems intent on turning Bara Magna into an extension of his own despotic empire. I’m sure I could convince others at Iconox to help us, but the Ice Tribe isn’t exactly the most popular right now.” Nato thought back to his meeting with Tuma some more. The more Tuma spoke, the more he was convinced of his tyranny.

Sahmad was skeptical, and moderately confused. “You wish not to involve the Skrall? I am not delusional - the Skrall will oppose anyone who does not ‘help’ them carve their own vision of Bara Magna, as long as Tuma leads.”

Nato’s and Sahmad’s thoughts were interrupted when the sound of sand crunching beneath feet became louder as it approached. The cause of this? Luroka from the Iron Tribe.

“As long as Tuma leads…” Nato mumbled to himself, stepping back to give Luroka some room and allowing Sahmad and Luroka to converse.

“Did it go as I predicted, where they ran you out because we’re monsters to them?”

Luroka rolled his eyes. “No, Sahmad. You see, I have this thing called ‘friends’. Something you will never understand because of your abrasive personality. They have granted Voltex and I sanctuary.” From his face, Luroka could tell that Sahmad did not believe him. He did not care. “What of your endeavours, Nato?”

Sahmad interrupted, annoyed, and annoying Luroka and Nato. “Easy thing for them to say. Easier them to trap you if you stay there. I would not count on them sticking to that, if they ever intended to do so.”

There was a silence as Luroka sighed, only broken by the sound of another Agori approaching. Voltex.

He greeted them all with a smile, seeing them gathered otuside the city  gates of Atero. “Nato, Sahmad, it is good to see you both. Nato, what news of Iconox?” While waiting for Nato’s response - or Sahmad’s interruption - he turned and greeted Luroka. “And you? When called upon, can Tajun be trusted to help us?” Even if Luroka was successful, Voltex still had a back-up plan - or three - in mind. Villages had offered sanctuary in the past, and there was a reason they were still exiles now. Sahmad was not wrong to be skeptical.

“I believe, if the situation calls upon them, Tajun can pull through for us.” Luroka responded, having faith in Tajun. Perhaps too much for an outcast of the Iron Tribe.

“If I’m being honest, I find myself... concerned... for Iconox. I spoke with Tuma recently, offering him a partnership with Iconox to help unite the rest of Bara Magna. He wasn’t interested. He revealed to me that the Skrall have their own source of exsidian, which means Tuma has the means to singlehandedly undermine the Ice Tribe’s entire economy. The Skrall could destroy Iconox without a battle being fought.” Nato was indeed worried.

“We must find another way to sway Tuma, and if we cannot, then remove him.” Luroka interjected. The former was unlikely. The latter was close to impossible.

Voltex took a moment to ponder over both pieces of news - both worrying. Luroka’s required that he had faith in Tajun, when he had none. Nato’s was far more sinister. “The Skrall have treated myself and other Iron Agori with a certain disdain in the past. No doubt we are only performing tasks that they would prefer to complete themselves. That they can render the services of a second tribe redundant is… more than worrying.” He paused to gather his thoughts further. “I have established an alliance with the Rock Agori through General Onaku, though we cannot trust them to help us overthrow the Skrall if necessary. Likewise, I do not wish to rely on mere faith in Tajun.” He recalled the six meteorites that fell from the sky, and wondered if he could find where they landed. “Six meteorites fell from the sky recently. It doesn’t happen often. Perhaps we should search some of them out, and see if we might attain an advantage in this game of politics. A new weapon or object of value could be more than useful.”

Nato was unsure of what advantage some rock from space might give. “I don’t mean to seem rude, but do we really have time to be running around the desert chasing space rocks? Tuma could topple Iconox tomorrow if he wanted to, and the rest of the villages would be easily swayed after that.”

“You might be correct, but I believe it worth a try. Luroka, one landed near Tajun. Perhaps you could return there and search for it? You could use it as an opportunity to strengthen our alliance with them.” Voltex turned to Nato and Sahmad. “Do either of you have any immediate plans?”

“Very well, Voltex. I will search for this meteorite. But do try not to allow this to slow us down.” Luroka looked into the distance, roughly the direction of Tajun. A good test of the alliance as any.

“I’m considering taking the news of Tuma’s exsidian to the other villages. If they realise how close Tuma is to toppling Iconox, with the rest of Bara Magna soon to follow, they might be willing to stand with us against him.” Nato wondered to himself if such a thing was even possible. “If Luroka were to inform the leadership of in Tajun while he’s there, I could set off for Vulcanus and tell them. Alternatively, I could go to Tajun as well, and offer them some kind of discount on Iconox’s exsidian, to help bolster your alliance with them.”

“If you were to travel with Luroka to Tajun, it would certainly help us. Our relationship with Vulcanus has certainly been rocky as of late, I do not plan to attempt any alliance with them until we have more strength behind us.” Voltex said, recalling a particular incident with Vulcanus witnessed by its former leader, Raanu.

“Alright then. To Tajun I shall go.” Nato set off with Luroka towards Tajun.

Sahmad did not speak, and simply thought of how badly what he just heard was going to go. This was Bara Magna, and while he did want to see it changed, he wondered why they were putting so much faith in other Agori. To him, it was quite worrying.

-VULCANUS-

-Quin-

IC: Quin (All)

Quin entered the tavern, desiring a drink after what he had previously experienced. He’d just asked  a few of his soldiers about any important happenings in Vulcanus, only to be answered with nothing useful to him - they were focused on their job, as it was what they were paid to do. Nothing else.

Sitting down, he began drinking. And drinking. And drinking. Until, eventually, he overheard a conversation at the back of the tavern. He couldn’t hear much, but given that one the conversation’s participants was not from Vulcanus, he assumed the subject of the conversation extended beyond Vulcanus’ borders.

Trying not to make his eavesdropping obvious, Quin ordered a drink and tried to move closer as subtly as he could. Unfortunately, they had already moved on to such exciting topics like how many desert rats they’d killed. Quin sighed, rolled his eyes, and kept on drinking.

An hour had passed. The same group he’d tried to eavesdropping on seemed to be preparing to leave - two Water Agori made their exit, while two Fire Agori remained at their table. Jerking upwards, and almost vomiting, he managed to catch some words exchanged between Water Agori.

“Should we really be heading back to Tajun with what happened? Likely safer here.

That was all he managed to catch. Intrigued, he decided he would head to Tajun - in the morning, after getting some rest.

Unfortunately for him, in the very morning he’d planned to head out,  a messenger banged on his chamber door.

“General Quin! We have an emergency. We need your presence immediately!”

“What is it?” Quin asked, groggily and with a pounding in his head. He should have drank so much last night.

“One of the soldiers you sent to Creepy Canyon has returned, though he’s in fatal condition.” The messenger replied hurriedly, and worriedly.

Quin quickly snapped out of his groggy condition. “Where is he?” he demanded to know.

He was lead to the local infirmary, and to a particularly busy room, with a single Agori laying on the bed. Despite not having much in the way of medical knowledge, Quin could tell he was hanging onto life by a thread - there was a copious amount of dried blood, and a severe gash in the side of his torso - a gash deep enough that not many would survive without lifelong problems.

The Agori saw Quin enter, and weakly reached out. “Bo… Bone Hunt… Hunters…” he rasped, coughing up blood. “To… took shard.” Then, the Agori went quiet. Medics rushed to his side, trying to ensure he just fainted instead of succumbing to his injuries.

Curse them.

“As you can see, the Skrall are unbeatable in battle. They guarantee that we win supplies from other villages. And if you were to accept our offer, you could share in said supplies.” Smoke Monster stated, a proud smile across his face.

“I get the feeling you’re not sharing the full story. There’s got be more ups and downs about this offer…” FF was not convinced. Every offer had its downsides, and Smoke Monster had yet to speak of any.

“Yes, what are the other terms to this?” Rahkshi Guurahk did not want to accept without knowing more, if he even would accept.

“Of course, there is more to this offer. Along with winning arena matches, the Skrall are unbeatable body guards. They can defend caravans that travel through the desert from any threats, especially from Bone Hunters and Vorox.” Smoke Monster realised he’d forgotten one more thing. “Did I also mention Roxtus has its own water source? No? Well, we do. It’s a lot closer to Iconox than the one in Tajun. Plus, with the acceptance of our offer, we would be more than willing to open trade with you. And it’s a good deal too, as I’ve heard securing trades with Tajun have become more difficult lately.”

“A tempting offer, I must say. But how can we be sure that Roxtus won’t backstab or toss Iconox aside even after the offer is accepted?” FF found himself warming to the offer, but was still not convinced and highly skeptical that a single downside had yet to spoken of.

“Why would we want to backstab you? We of the city of Roxtus seek to unify the villages of Bara Magna, which would be hard to do if we betrayed you. We want to work with you to help both our villages out. Turning on you would not help us achieve what we want.” Smoke Monster was puzzled. If Tuma had no interest in supporting Iconox, then he would not have sent this offer.

-ROXTUS-

-Pahrak-

IC: Pahrak (All), Tuma (All)

“Thank you, Mighty Leader. What I thought might be worth trying…” Pahrak went on, explaining his plan to Tuma.

“Yes… this plan has my blessing. Send messages to the other tribes, and inform them of this. This will be hard to resist.” Tuma smiled, as did Pahrak. Both knew that their plan would most likely work - because it offered something only a fool would turn down.

---

Message delivered to each village by one messenger and one Skrall each:

To the good Agori of Bara Magna:

We of Roxtus would like to invite you to a friendly competition, taking place in the great city of Atero in a few days time.  The challenge: to see if your Glatorian can defeat a Skrall in single combat.  The reward if they are successful: the finest Black Exsidian from the Black Spike Mountains, and the purest water from the Skrall River, a full year’s supply of both provided to your village.  Should this appeal to you, please inform the messenger of your desire to participate—though even if you decline now and should change your mind later, you will still be welcome to participate.  Spectators are welcome even if the village they hail from does not send its Glatorian.  The Skrall wish to prove their worth as protectors, and I assure you: once you see them in action, you will have no further doubts that they are more than capable of being the shield that protects all of Bara Magna.

Respectfully yours;

Tuma of the Skrall

& Pahrak of Roxtus

END OF EPISODE TWO!

Notes:

-I apologise if I made any mistakes.

-Tuma has offered a challenge to all of Bara Magna’s villages: can your Glatorian defeat a Skrall? If you can do so, the reward is the finest Black Exsidian - a resource until now exclusive to the Skrall - and clean water from Skrall River, for a full year.

-Speaking of Atero and challenges, it will not be long before Atero hosts a tournament for not just the Glatorian, but for regular Agori as long as vehicles are involved. But, for now, Tuma is offering a challenge.

-The Bone Hunters are getting bolder after the acquisition of not one, but two mysterious objects.

-Mysterious Shards:

  • Tajun: Currently in the possession of Terrorsaur

  • Tesara: Currently in the possession of Bone Hunters

  • Vulcanus: Currently being taken by Bone Hunters

  • Iconox: Location Unknown

  • Roxtus: Location Unknown

  • Atero: Location Unknown

I think Burnmad would have something to say about the leader part.

Sudden new totally legit Fire Tribe goal:

  • Secure, contain, and protect anomalous entities.

Let this be a lesson that you don't leave any item of importance unattended in the desert... it's likely to be stolen when you aren't around.

Nah, Quin can also be O5

I mean, uh, O5? O5 isn't a real security clearance level

I mean, I wanted it transported into town, or else heavily guarded... I guess I'll have to find out what happened with that.

To be fair, Thornaxx was such a large part of the bara magna sets, I'm amazed anyone could actually forget they exist. There were the Madu of Bara Magna

The only thing I didn't like about the launchers in their design. Sure it works for playability, but how exactly do the glatorian fire it....?

They squeeze the trigger.

But how? Do they place a fist atop, and the bottom upon a knee and squeeze down with the fist? Or....?

no... in canon its like a pistol. same as the kanoka launchers.

Ah, alright. With that in-mind it can be assumed that the weapon goes down a bit further down he hand past the handle, but not by a lot. And the handle itself has a trigger on it, which releases I suppose some sort of internal charge or combustion from the spokes of the blaster simultaneously which launches the fruit.

To those who are waiting on a reply from me, it might be a tad late today, as my internet connection is having conniptions, and I've been trying to connect to this page alone for about 15 minutes. However I did take the last actions and have them on a text document on my desktop so that I can write responses while waiting for a window to post.

For example, I started writing this post at 9:58 pm my time, and it disconnected around 9:59... So it's take about 15 minutes just for my internet to become stable enough to post this one comment.

I'm considering extending the episode by a day to account for Vox's problems.

And mine, too.  Jed still hasn't accepted or denied my offer, and it's been two days since I... well, offered it.
