  1. I have wondered this every now and then. And I think you are kind of on to something. You and your spouse should have at least one thing in common, like thought patterns and maybe even music tastes (not necessarily exactly the same artists), but if you are too alike you might become rivals. Too different though and you will grow intolerant of each other. Like much of life, its about balance.

Now, I feel that two should be possibly happy, maybe even content with each other, but its not going to be perfect and any expectation for it to be as such will result in disaster. The two of you should have some happy moments: why else stay with someone if it is always going to be heck? Trust is also an absolutely vital thing. My father betrayed my mother, and it eventually resulted in them getting divorced.

  2. I never thought about it. Huh.  While i would then be better understood and probably have a much better childhood, I am hesitant to want to have that become a reality, because I honestly like being different from most people despite my constant frustration or confusion or misunderstanding with humanity. Selfish i know, but true. I would love to see such a world though, just to sate my curiosity.

  3. Read The Winter King by Bernard Cornwell. Closest thing you'll have to your dream Soran. Let me tell you, that Post-Roman Britain is not a romantic place, as Derfel Canarc can back up. :P

Honestly, i don't want any fantasy myth to come true. Hmm, on second thought, maybe Tolkien's mythopoeia. At least then i could say that we are currently in the 6th Age of Arda. :P All the content of his works would be ancient history, only thing to worry about is the escape of Morgoth Bauglir and his final war of darkness against Eru Illuvatar at the End of Days, and as a Christian i already believe something is going to happen at the end of days. :P

El Dorado so I could find it and lay claim to its riches.

El Dorado is/was(?) a big golden idol. Do you refer to this, or the legendary 7 Cities of Gold in Arizona? That great animated movie combined the two. I wouldn't mind if the 7 cities popped up as i live in Arizona, it'd certainly boost our economy, but i wouldn't want them to always be here as the many native nations here would have been exterminated like in the California Gold Rush.

  4. My father's face

Sad to say that I am with you in that.

i remember: balding head, glasses, and short trimmed beard, but the actual facial details I cannot recall. :/ Apparently i've heard he has pure white hair now? Dang, I only remember him having brown hair.

All the math that I was ever taught in school. Also all the history, and most of the science and grammar.

    Well, shoot.

    *cough*

  5. i plan on going to college soon, and i would like to expand some of my boundaries. What would you do exactly as a radio designer? Would you recommend anything else?

And how good is that 'IdeaPad'? I once had a bamboo graphics pad but it broke back in February or something and I have been looking on and off for a suitable replacement, hopefully one bigger for doodlin' as the one i had was small and rectangular.

  6.

sniff sniff there's Old English afoot

    nothing beats that original:

ac in campe gecrong    cumbles hyrde,

æþeling on elne    ne wæs ecg bona,

    ac him hilde-grāp    heortan wylmas

bān-hūs gebræc.    Nū sceall billes ecg,

hond ond heard sweord    ymb hord wīgan.

but in combat cringed    the banner's herd,

the prince in strength,    edge was not the-slayer

but battle gripped    his heart, whelms

broke his bone-house.    Now shall blade's edge,

hand and hard sword,    for the hoard do battle.

That version seems a little... hard to get through.

Literature and prose has certainly come a long way since the mid-First Millennium Anno Domini, that's for sure.

Here's a taste of Tolkien's prose in his salvaged take on Beowulf. I've yet to reach the passage with the Frank, so here is something else:

After these words the prince of the windloving Geats

hastened dauntless forth, for no answer would he wait. The

surging sea engulfed that warrior bold. Thereafter a long

hour of the day it was ere he could descry the level floor.

Straight away that creature that with cruel lust, ravenous and

grim, had a hundred seasons held the watery realm, perceived

that there from on high some man was come espy the

dwelling of inhuman things. She clutched then at him, seized

in her dire claws the warrior bold. No whit the sooner did

she hurt his body unharmed within; the ring-mail fended

him about, that she might not pierce with cruel fingers the

supple-linked shirt that clad him in the fray. Then that she-wolf

of the waves to the sea-bottom coming bore the mail-clad

prince unto her own abode. Even so, in no wise could

he wield his weapons - wroth was he thereat! - so many a

monster strange beset him sorely as they swam, and many

a beast of the sea with fell tusks at his hauberk tore; fierce

    destroyers pressed upon him.

  7. I'm alright. Been having tooth pain that gets extremely painful, and I have been taking a lot of pain killers. Not abusing them, mind you, I take one within the windowed time as directed; I still can't help but be worried, however, my dental appointment is in two (2) weeks from now and I have already taken a lot of pills in just two weeks prior. Also, I am looking for a job but have been lazy about it, I may be more willing to search after my appointment. Other than those, I am feeling good and just wasting away the days with music, TV (mostly politics and cartoons), and video games. I should go back to reading, but it can be hard to concentrate, what with a certain annoyance and drugs making me sleepy all day. I used to read before sleeping so it would my eyes tired, so you can imagine now how I fall asleep as soon as I crack it open, almost like a dang cartoon.

So, hope is on the horizon, i just have to hold tight for a while. I'm going to be knocked out during the procedure so I should wake up numb and sore for a couple days and then i can chew with ease. Almost brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. :)

There is a non-canon origin story of humanity in the Star Wars galaxy. Ina future earth where robots have taken over and humanity is subdued and enslaved via forced drugs, a revolt explodes and a large amount of slaves take over huge space ship, and seeing how Earth is lost and they will be killed or captured if they stay, they go off planet and go through a wormhole. They end up outside of Corellia but are captured by Hutt slavers. After being freed by their de facto leader, the first Skywalker, they escape this second round of slavery and land on Corellia, where they make it their new home.

If this were to be taken with any grain of salt, then it is possible that the escaped slaves came from North America, which is predominately caucasian but has many many many other ethnicities.

...did you really just give me a really convoluted reason to explain why the default human in Star Wars is white?

The material was there, I just took what I could from it for discussion. The story was called Alien Exodus, and drawn inspiration from an old Lucas film, THX 1138 (a movie I would like to see).

Just sort of brainstorming here, giving an in-universe explanation to a casting problem. If humans are native to the Star Wars galaxy, I'd be fine with that. I am indifferent either way.
