Lewa0111 Nuva
So, was anyone else surprised by the recent somewhat long forum crash? I certainly was, and coming so soon after the Time Slip II (Electric Boogaloo? ), I confess I was a bit disappointed. I thought the point of the new forum software was to make sure stuff like this happens less often...What did you think of the crash happening again? Mesonak
I think not only is it expected, but it isn't that big of a deal. After opening up the new forum using new software and such, there's bound to be a couple problems along the way. Couple that with the fact that it was only, what, three days long? Not that big of a deal. That being said when it happened,, yeah I was surprised. I immediately jumped to worst case scenario, fearing that all the data since the new forums opened was lost and that the forums would be offline for another month, in which case, yeah, that'd be a problem. But it's not like that, so I'm relieved.Bottom line is: I can forgive a minor database issue if the forums were only offline briefly and no data was lost.-Mesonak Edited November 15, 2011 by Mesonak Quote The Three Virtues YouTube Channel ----- ----- Check it out for laughs, discussion, and more. Taipu1
Seemed longer than the summer downtime somehow. I think when the long summer downtime finished I got really into being on BZP again, and when it went down for 3 days I couldn't deal with it being gone again. I couldn't find anything else to do. When it said database error I was a bit worried about losing things. The Great Dataclysm ages ago lost me some of my favourite epics... Gatanui
Can we please switch to phpBB instead of IPB so we'll stop having all these problems? At the very least, could it be demoed for a short period? It was initially planned to convert the forum archive to phpBB, but it was laid off due to a number of problems that could not be solved easily. Switching the board software is an incredible amount of work and would be so problematic that it would not be worth it at all. We cannot risk another five-month downtime. The forums were down because of a database error and not a software error (although I don´t know the details) and IPB is probably the best forum software around, anyway. ;)I was not too surprised to see an IPS Driver Error, rather to see it lasted several days and even got a news post. I was kept busy enough to not miss the forums, though. ~Gata. Edited November 15, 2011 by Gatanui Quote - Gata Please don't use my avatar or signature without permission, thanks! Krakash
In my opinion I think the mods are planning these downtimes to make us lose our faith in the website so they can finally restart the site in it's glorious true form, BarbieZonePower, as it was in the before time and as it will be soon, forever more. Sumiki
I wasn't too worried. I didn't want another Time Slip to occur, but realistically, we wouldn't have lost but a few weeks' worth of data.I did wonder if the consecutive downtimes might run people off the site, but thankfully that didn't happen. Peach 00
I was surprised it lasted so long, but I'm not surprised that it crashed again for an almost four-day period of time. I figure that, if they had wanted it not to crash, they would have tested it a few times before launching it, or something similar to that. It annoyed me more than anything that the Dataclysm 2.0. (AKA Time Slip) lasted that long, though. Quote On the day the wall came down / They threw the locks onto the ground And with glasses high / We raised a cry / For freedom had arrived On the day the wall came down / The ship of fools had finally run aground Promises lit up the night / Like paper doves in flight I dreamed you had left my side / No warmth, not even pride remained And even though you needed me / It was clear that I could not do a thing for you Now life devalues day by day / As friends and neighbors turn away And there's a change that even with regret / Cannot be undone Now frontiers shift like desert sands / While nations wash their bloodied hands Of loyalty, of history / In shades of grey I woke to the sound of drums / The music played, the morning sun streamed in I turned and I looked at you / And all but the bitter residues slipped away slipped away...
