  1. Meh. Can't say I particularly care for the art style (it's not bad necessarily, it just doesn't particularly appeal to me) and the use of the G1 Vahi feels cheap to me. Hopefully maybe it'll* change between now and release (those odds are so low, I can't even think of anything else equally low to make a comparison to it.) * 'It' being the Vahi, not the art style
  2. Ah, I see. Makes complete sense. Well, keep up the good work!
  3. Fantastic story as usual! Any clues as to who that cute Ga-Matoran is?
  4. So, just a quick question that's probably been answered elsewhere. I noticed on the set database that you're compiling on BS01 that the 2006-2008 Good/Bad Guy sets have been excluded, and I was just curious as to why that is. I mean, as far as I'm aware, they're official sets (if slightly lackluster/gimmicky/only promos), so why aren't they there?
  5. Glad to see other people have thought of this too Personally, I've always thought of it(the faulty memories) as being something similar to what we humans call 'memory errors'. These memory errors can cause us to forget things, remember things that never occurred, or otherwise remember events differently from how they occurred. All of that could of course cause beings, such as Matoran, to forget certain things or remember them differently, like, as you said, the Av-Matoran forgetting/legend-ifying the Toa Mata. And, to add to the above, memory errors sometimes result from high stress/emotion during a particular event, expectations, or even changes in environment. And with that, that could explain why the Mahri Matoran forgot life above land, which I believe was at some point alluded to being 'trauma from the sinking' or something along those lines. (Anyways, just my 5 cents, sorry I got a bit rambly there, I'll just go now ) (Although, this now makes me curious as to who has the better memory: Glatorian/Agori or Matoran....my bet's on Glatorian/Agori)
  6. Really liking Tahu, I feel like his mask really looks like some sort of an updated version of his Nuva Kanohi. Although, tbh, Lewa's lower legs seem a bit strange to me, y'know, with them not actually being the ccbs, but that's just a small nitpick in his overall design. Also, did anyone else notice how mangled Melum was in that first image with Kopaka? (Just something funny I noticed).
  7. Can we please get some sort of a video to go with this? I would seriously pay tens* of dollars to see this. *If someone makes a video, I won't actually pay you. Fair warning.
  8. Wow! That's pretty awesome! Is there anything worthy of note on the back of the head or arms, or are they just blank?
  9. 1. No 2. Yes 3. No Just to clarify my position on number 3, I do believe that The Shadowed One and Ancient are members of the same species; however, since the phrase 'Should all four be the same species?' implies(states, really) that Conjurer should also be included in TSO's species, which is something I don't support. So, in summary: TSO, Ancient, and Tyrant are the same species, and Conjurer isn't a part of them.
  10. On the BS01 page 'Sapient Species/Unnamed Species' it specifically lists Ancient as one of The Shadowed One's race. But admittedly, it doesn't list any sources for that, so
  11. Hang on a sec. I always thought that that thing on the back of The Shadowed One was a third leg, not a tail. (I mean, I prefer the tail idea, but it does look pretty darn leggy to me...)
  12. I was under the impression that at least part of it, in addition to what T1Shadow said, was that it was the Inika's destiny to defeat the Piraka/retrieve the Ignika/revive Mata Nui, while the Toa Nuva's destiny wasn't to do that, and that's why they failed. But maybe I'm misremembering things
  13. For the first part, yeah, Heat Vision does temporarily blind/weaken the eyesight of the user, as it says in the Trivia part of Heat Vision's page on BS01. As for the second part of the question, I dimly recall Greg saying somewhere that the main force of Rahkshi on Spherus Magna was initially Heat Vision Rahkshi, and that later on in the battle, other types of Rahkshi emerged (although why it was mainly Heat Vision Rahkshi I don't know). But, I could be misremembering or not remembering the entirety of that, so, yeah... EDIT: Also, for what it's worth, there must've been at least one Rahkshi of Quick Healing there, as Greg later said that Tahu gained that ability from the Golden Armor/Rahkshi.
  14. Mind = Seriously, this is really awesome! Now, who wants to make a 40 million foot tall robot and go there? I'm buying
  15. Eh, I mean, I'm over all fine with his writing style. Admittedly, it's been a very long time since I've read any of the books or comics, so my opinion over the specifics of them might change if I ever go back and read them, but, speaking as my younger self, I thought it was fine overall. And as for the serials, I liked them as well. I thought (and do think) that they added an extra... something. Those little details that we wouldn't of otherwise have gotten without them, and I like that aspect of them. Now, does that mean I think they were perfect? No. Thinking back, Reign of Shadows, for example, could've had so much more opportunity. He could've gone anywhere in the M.U. and shown different locations with a lot more diverse cast, and shown their efforts to resist Makuta, but no, instead we were stuck on Metru Nui for the most part with pretty much the same cast as the past 8 years... but at this point, I'm rambling. The long and short of it is that I was and I am fine with both the serials and the books/comics, and how he went with them. Now, again, all of that doesn't mean that I totally agree with everything he's done, like lack of redemption or no romance in the M.U., but I'm willing to overlook all of that for the big picture. Was the story irreversibly ruined because Hewkii and Macku didn't get together in the end, or that Teridax couldn't be redeemed. The answer, imo, is no. But again, at this point I'm afraid I might be rambling again... (Also, what's with the alt. universes hate? There were like, what, 2-4 of them featured prominently? I dunno, maybe I'm just a sucker for that stuff...)
  16. Lucas Valor... Also Thresher. He seemed like a cool dude, but only appeared in one episode. Although, he was in that one book, Legion of Darkness, but having never read it, I don't know how big of a role he had in it. Aside from him, Jetbug, and that guy we saw at the beginning of Brain Attack who unleashed the Brains and then we never saw him again. He seemed interesting as well.
  17. Possibly not on topic, but did anyone else notice how the Koro were named after the Mata? Tahu - Ta-Koro Onua - Onu-Koro Lewa - Le-Koro Gahli - Ga-Koro Pohatu - Po-Koro Kopaka - Ko-Koro and then the Wahi and Metru districts follow the same pattern. I dunno, just a little thing I noticed... EDIT: Oh, so looking back on the topic's first post, this isn't on topic. On top of that, in continuity I guess that the prefixes came before the Mata. Sorry 'bout that EDIT 2: Oh, wow... I feel seriously dumb right now... lol
  18. Well, I like the first of the 'new' combiners, but the other three are... something else... especially the Tahu one. Although... I am kinda fond of the two matoran sized ones...
  19. Yeah, like I said, it wasn't anything ground breaking or new, just something different to do. And like I said in the very beginning, it was pretty much unnecessarily complicated. Glad you liked it either way though!
  20. Hello fellow BZP-ers! Welcome to my first topic! So, since this is my first topic, I figured that I'd do something that's fairly large and unnecessarily complicated . So, as to preface this, I should note here that, as well as Bionicle, I'm a fan of Transformers, and in the Transformers universe/franchise, they have a certain way of naming/cataloging/labelling each universe, which I'll get to later. So, after studying their system of labelling universes, I decided that their system could be applicable to Bionicle as well, since, well, 'Great Spirit Makuta Alternate Universe' is a bit of a mouthful, and could easily be replaced with something less... mouth filling(well, kind of anyways, you'll see). Before I go any further though, I feel like I should note that the way I'm labelling each universe is about 95% completely based in how they(Transfomers writers) label universes, so I feel like I should mention the original creators of this system: Jim Sorenson, Trent Troop, and Greg Sepelak. Thank you! So, now with the painfully awkward introduction( ) out of the way, let's actually learn the universes! So, the universal labeling comes in three parts: universal cluster, numerical creation date, and the class of universe. So, first of all, we start off with a universal cluster name (in other words, what continuity family it is). I've compiled a list of (mostly Latin) names below, to use for this part: Primum (Latin for first)- this is the G1 Bionicle cluster/family Deinde (Latin for next)- this is the G2 Bionicle cluster/family Tertius (Latin for third)- this is the G3 Bionicle cluster/family (one day this will become relevant!) But wait, there's more! Caminus (Latin for forge)- this is the Hero Factory cluster/family Canthus (Latin for wheel)- this is the RoboRiders cluster/family Orbis (Latin for disk)- this is the Throwbots/Slizers cluster/family Qwadwahl (made up by me )- this refers to a strange little cluster where there are these fleshly little things called humans So next, we need the numerical creation date numbers. These are taken from the real world creation date of the thing in question (I should note here that most the dates I've gotten come from the BZP main page, when BZP first covered the topic in question). So, for example, let's take when Bionicle first came to America: July, 2001. So, in terms of the cataloging, it would go 701.0 (7=7th month of the year, i.e. July. 01= what year it was, 2001. .0 refers to an unknown date of release/publication.) So now the third part: the universal class (otherwise known as, the type of media in which it was featured in) These are taken from the Greek alphabet: Alpha: Animations (T.V. Show/Movie) Beta: Online Stories/Story Serials Gamma: Comic Delta: Commercial Epsilon: Exclusives (Toys, comics, story serial, etc...) Zeta: Prose work (printed stuff that's not comics) Eta: Audio Stories Theta: Online Videos/Animations Iota: Websites/online only stuff Kappa: Games (video, board, etc...) Lambda: Still images (such as battles in the centerfold of comics) Rho: Sets Sigma: Live Action/Performance Please note that, although certain universes started in one type of media, it doesn't mean that it can include or exclude other forms of media as well. So, now that we have all three parts to the universal steam designations, lets put it all together. To help in understanding, here's an example: Primum 701.0 Gamma. Primum refers to the G1 Bionicle continuity. 701.0 refers to when it was first released (specifically in America), July 2001, with unknown/inexact date of release. Gamma means that it a comic. (If you still don't understand what I'm on about, I don't blame you. I can explain it better in the comments if you so wish it) So, now you know how the designations work out and what everything in it means, here's a list of the 'official' universes seen thus far: Caminus (Hero Factory): Caminus 413.0 Zeta (Mirror World)Caminus 910.20 Alpha (the TV Series)Canthus (RoboRiders): Canthus 100.0 Rho (an approximation of when the RoboRiders toys released)Deinde (G2 Bionicle): Deinde 1014.9 Theta (the main G2 Bionicle storyline)Oribs (Throwbots/Slizers): Orbis 199.0 A Rho (Approximation of the Throwbots storyline origin)Orbis 199.0 E Rho (Approximation of the Slizers storyline origin)Primum (G1 Bionicle): Primum 108.14 Eta (Dark Mirror)Primum 109.26 Beta (Great Spirit Makuta)Primum 508.0 Epsilon (The Kingdom)Primum 509.27 Beta (Spherus Magna Alternate Universe)Primum 701.0 Gamma (Main G1 Bioinicle story we've loved for so long) (Could be Primum 101.0 Kappa instead)Primum 807.22 Eta (the Pit's dead Tuyet's universe)Prmium 1208.12 Beta (The Melding)Qwadwahl (real world): Qwadwahl 701/1200.0 Sigma (Us! )But, it doesn't end there folks! Due to the way that this universal system is set up, we could hypothetically determine the names of universes that aren't necessarily 'official', but must exist somewhere in the multiverse. So... Caminus: Caminus 710.25 Epsilon (Hero Factory comics, Epsilon because the first comic was released at Comic Con)Caminus 810.5 Kappa (Mission: Von Nebula and its later incarnations)Deinde: Deinde 115.1 Kappa (BIONICLE: Mask of Creation mobile game)Deinde 715.0 Lambda (Ambushed In The Forge) Primum: Primum 102.0 Gamma (Bohrok Promo Comic)Primum 306.30 Kappa (Piraka Attack)Primum 310.26 Theta (BIONICLE Battle Videos)Primum 403.12 Sigma (BIONICLE Blaster Ride)Primum 906.4 Theta (Piraka Online Animations)Primum 906.20 Kappa (VNOG)Primum 1106.14 () Kappa (BIONICLE: Heroes) (Parenthesis= C-Console, M-Mobile, D-DS, G-Gameboy) Obviously, I could go on, but for some obvious and possibly not-so-obvious reasons, I'll stop here. So, that's it pretty much. Nothing particularly new or groundbreaking here, just a silly little way to categorize your universes Tell me what you think in the comments, and maybe even list a few universes yourself!
  21. Well, at the risk of sounding redundant in a sea full of these remarks, Kanohi packs from 2004 onward. Those would've been great. Aside from that though, I honestly would've loved to different value packs on top of the kanohi ones. I mean, just imagine a pack of Metru eyestalks in colors that we didn't get in the sets, like purple or full on yellow. I mean, these would've been a great thing for the '08 sets, where it was only orange and light green eye pieces... Or, how about a value pack that included different colored Cordak (the ammo, not the blasters)? I think that would've been neat.
  22. Honestly, I didn't note too much of a difference. The only time I did notice though was with TLR trailer, which looked a little odd in some places, just a little too fast paced in the action sequences. Other than that, not too much of a difference as far as I can tell... Although, the Mahri animation looks spectacular in HD, much better than the one they got on BS01... EDIT: Ah yes, I also was one of those people who didn't read the fine print and watched it 1st time round at 360, not 720/1080. derp
  23. Forever remember the Podu ... Macku's pretty cool too...
  24. BIONICLE: Heroes had some really great music to it, I'm not sure if I could pick just one... Probably not Hero Mode though. Not because it's bad, it's just because I've heard it sooooo often during the game Other than that though, Ride by Presence, cuz it's so awesome
