"Sweet. Fair enough." Whitehot beamed and held her hand up over her brow as a visor as she peered inside one of the windows of Golden Weapons. "Not exactly busy, but I guess we did beat the dinner rush. C'mon in - Tarkus, we'll chip in for you next time, buddy. Take care, Denwa! Let us know if you need bailing outta math class!"

Ga-Wahi--------Ga-Koro--------Front Gates

"No Problem!" Marya called back down. "Just watch out for that pothole! It's a bit of a doozy!" And with that, she turned back to her work.

OOC: Soo.... Does anyone know just what time of day it's supposed to be?

The Menti turned towards the soon-to-be-departing Ba-Toa and gave a bow, directing a small smile at the sister perched on his shoulders. "Farewell, Mister Tarkus, Miss Denwa. It was a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, and a pleasure to see you again. I hope to see you both before our expedition leaves."

She pivoted slightly to bring the group as a whole back into view, and gave the Sergeant a nod in acknowledgement.

"You don't have to keep doing that," Whitehot repeated, holding the door confidently with a hand for the Dasaka and Goldie. "I'm your friend first, hitting on you second, and a foreign dignitary third."

She winked at the Dasaka and hoped that Sinshi really couldn't read her mind and figure out she was only 60% as confident as she was acting.

The Menti stepped through the door, glancing back to address the Sergeant. "I am not doing so because of you. Respectful address should not be limited to those I do not know, nor should it cease at a whim."

ooc: Is Jalkron bouting with Fyura as well or is there another Skakdi in the opposing group?

OOC: That's Krakant

IC: Krakant

The Skakdi yelled as the iron pierced his hand. He went forward to headbutt the toa.

OOC: I'm back!  I'll be taking control of Jalkron again.

IC: Jalkron

Jalkron thrust the staff forward, pushing the skakdi back due to the iron stuck in his hand, back towards the spikes on the ground he created earlier when they were setting up traps for the treasure hunters.

"Ah, c'mon, Sinshi," I said jovially, following Whitehot and the rest of the people into the restaurant (bar? tavern? they didn't have some weird word for what we had back on Kentoku, like they did for 'Dashi' and 'Datuse,' did they?). "We're on a newly-discovered, foreign island for cryin' out loud. You can slack off on the title-giving a little, I'm sure."

...

...

wait, why am i helping her to be more conversational with whitehot

Target missing. Hope not lost. Analyze situation.

Use of diversion; indicates no Kualsi/Kakama. Stealth, presumably? Still in immediate area. Presumably moving away from gate, navigating towards intended destination; his intended destination? Unknown.

too many variables too many variables too many variables--

No movement in pre-smoke direction; too obvious. Switch to another direction; continue straight or to opposite side? Use of diversion; suggestive of espionage. Utilizing mask power to scan forward street crowd; no sign yet of quarry. Opposite side, then.

Possibilities re: opposite alley: continue or switch back. Difficult to ascertain. No sign of target in said direction. Escape? Stealth? Switch back? Use mask to check for light refraction caused by Volitak/Huna. None found, but results inconclusive. Could mean anything. Might simply be too far gone. Glance across street, using mask-enhanced vision; nothing found there.

IC: Verulas (Spectre) - Ga-Koro (Rooftops)

After traversing his way across a few more buildings in order to distance himself from the commotion a few streets over, Verulas had felt that he had successfully elluded whoever had been previously pursuing him. Creating a vine and securing it onto a nearby flagpole, he lowered himself down into another alley before absorbing the construct and deactivating his Kanohi.

Well, now that I've completed my exercises for the day, I'd best be going to meet back up with the others.

The Bo-Toa entered the bar, electing to take a seat at a table near the back of the room in order to keep an eye on his surroundings as he waited for the rest of The Outsiders to show up.

IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Gate)

"Oh, cheer up will you?" Septima said, lowering her hand in order to pat her bag of widgets as she began walking towards the village entrance. "Come on. I'm buying."

IC: Shu - Cave (Temple)

Very well. It seems that the first move will be have to be mine.

Using his powers to manipulate as much of the freezing air around his katana as he could, he activated his Kakama for a quick burst of speed, closing the distance between himself and his foe before drawing his weapon in a precise and calculated diagonal cut aimed directly for his chest. Even if the actual physical blade itself was blocked, the gust of wind emerging from the strike would have surely found its way around his defenses...

Ko.

IC: Aine - Cave (Temple)

Aine, who's hiding place was not actually too far from Aokora and Maeloc's position, opted to remain silent and stay hidden as she began listening in on their conversation, hoping to maintain the element of surprise should the Ga-Matoran require her aid.

IC: Zaara.

She lay face-down, prone on the floor - not unconscious, not dead, but too tired to even bother trying to fight the Makuta worshippers again. All she could do was try to keep the amulet hidden away under her armour safe, and wait for her strength to return.

IC (Ayiwah):

"I for one approve, Sinshi." The commodore commented, then looked around the restaurant. It of course also followed the general Mata-Nui aesthetic in its design and Aya quietly wondered how much the used materials were worth back home. Probably as much as the Yukanna, if not more.

"Shall we find a booth?"

IC: Ira

Ira was surprised by Shu's sudden dash but was able to raise his sword in an attempt to parry, releasing all of the heat he had absorbed in a focused blast in Shu's direction. Still, he felt some of the chill that Shu had thrown at him.

That didn't work out so well...

IC: Asa

I shrugged and said "Very well; we shall go."

"I would prefer it if we stayed closer

To the town rather than farther away."

"Two," Whitehot said, eyes shooting emerald fire at the back of Ayiwah's head for her attempted crotchbotchery. "Corner booths are for parties and regular booths are for four. Goldie, you're the level headed one. Show the Commodore what we have on tap here on the far side of the world. The girls and I'll scout out a pair of joined booths. This way, ladies. Something with a few of the Kolhii rankings."

IC: Septima - Ga-Koro (Streets)

"True," she explained, taking a moment to admire the village before turning back towards the Ko-Skakdi. "But you still get a free meal without having to worry about paying me back, so the least you can do is smile."

IC: Shu - Cave (Temple)

Shu felt the sudden change of temperature as their swords clashed, forcing himself to quickly dart to the left as the fireball shot beneath his arm and grazed the side of his rib cage. Pain reverberated throughout the burned flesh, forcing him to squint his eyes a little as he leaned in towards his foe and, with his free hand, swiftly aimed a vicious palm strike towards the Ta-Toa's abdomen.

IC: Casanuva clapped his hands together. "Well, I'll admit I'm probably not the best tour guide, we can probably get a better look at Naho Falls." The Fa-Toa jerked a thumb at the giant Kaukau carved into a waterfall in the distance. He started walking away. "Sound good to you guys? Otherwise, I just know how to get to Ta-Koro from here and back."

IC: Fyura's smile disappeared, turning into a grimace as she raised her free arm to catch the brunt of the net. "I'm not some fish for you to-"

The skakdi's eyes widened, and her teeth began to shiver. One of the hooks was hooked into one of Vayde's segments. She stopped trying to throw down the net, dropping her waraxe, and reached to her belt to grab one of her smaller axes to cut the net.

"How did you find this place?"

Maeloc chuckled. "Likely the same way you did. I did use your paper, and Nixie's formula to find the stars. I came to this temple because of the new star."

Aokora stepped back. It hadn't struck her until now. Was this her fault...?

"That formula also divined three stars over this location. Where are the other amulets? There should be two more. Give them to us, and tell you what, we'll just leave. You have my guarantee that we'll leave you unharmed, and your team."

"I told you! They were gone when we got here! Maybe some treasure hunters got here, and managed to make off with two before the Artakha Bull chased them off!"

Maeloc turned, scratching his chin. His Akaku activated, and he observed the skirmish occuring past the shrine wall. "Ah, so that's what that metal lump is. Someone's a bit squemish around bodies, are they?"

The Archeologist scoffed. "That's Jalkron; he thinks I've never seen a body before." She eyed up one of the spirit stones on the pedestals, gauging its weight.

The Archivist smiled humorlessly. "I see. There's one problem. With your theory of treasure hunters, you see. If there was only one, I doubt you would just hand it to that toa with the Hau. You would still have it your possession."

"He has amnesia, he forgot his element! If the legend is true, this should allow him to use another element!"

"True. From personal experimentation, I happen to know they nullify the wearer's powers for an hour. So, lets see, which of your hirelings hasn't used elemental powers? I don't see anything on the matoran. The Le-Toa has been blowing out Ira's fire. The Arthron-wearer has created shields and manipulated his staff. I can plainly see that your amnesiac is wearing the one you say was here. That leaves the knife-thrower. She hasn't shown any overt powers yet, and I doubt she has amnesia." The Onu-Turaga looked back. "Care to rethink your explanation?"

The times, they are a-changing...

The skakdi seemed distracted, and in that moment Zaara forced herself to her feet, taking a deep breath before forcing her weary body to throw a knife at the slug-like creature on the skakdi's back.

OOC, Yeah, I missed that one KoK/Wade. An attempt at a fix

IC Red

His Hau activated, sending the Tomahawk skittering off towards the wall of the chamber. He surveyed the area, the Turaga was certainly the most irritating of these people and the new arrival that had attacked him looked competent enough. On his side, the Su-Toa was either face down useless or close to it, the other amnesiac was in possible danger, though she wasn't exactly a boon to him.

The Le-Toa with the katana seemed the most competent of their group, so it was towards him he moved, swinging his axe at the upper back of the Ta-Toa he was currently fighting. All the while, he made a point of keeping the Turaga and newer arrival in his field of vision.

OOC: Amnesiac Ga-Matoran Orca

IC: Orca watched as her net made contact. "Maybe not but looks like you are caught just the same." Orca looked behind Fyura at Zaara who was rising to her feet. Good, she was alright; Orca thought to herself. Focusing back on the Catch of the day she noticed the Skakdi reaching for smaller weapons to free itself. "Yep time to run." Pulling on her Kolhii stick and using the Skakdi's own wait against it she pulled the net tighter before severing the line and then hightailing it over to where Zaara was currently standing. "I'm glad you are alright. Did you have a nice nap? I am out of tricks and fishing line. That abomination over there will be free soon and I don't think I am her favorite Matoran right now."

"A stranger will always be a stranger unless you give them a chance."

OOC: Reminder that Maeloc and Aokora are having their conversation in the central chamber of the room. Behind a wall. Also, Luyn is attacking Red, Tiragith. She threw an axe. Somewhere.

IC: Aokora hissed through her teeth. "I think that if you spent more time on fieldwork, you wouldn't be arriving late to reach the artifacts."

Maeloc sighed, turning back to the battles outside. "Really. I'm just trying to help you all. How many lives are you willing to trade for these items?"

The ga-matoran started gripping one of the rocks. "I though you said they were powerful?"

"Yes. I plan to utilize these as a form of prisoner restraint. Imagine! These amulets can nullify elemental powers; it would be possible to render even a Toa Maru powerless!"

Fyura sliced through the netting, letting the tension go from Vayde. She untensed her body, not realizing how apprehensive she had been. Then, a knife slammed into her spine. I may look hard and spiny like a Rahkshi's, but it was still soft. The pain was... excruciating. Fire burned in her eyes as she hissed, turning towards the thrower.

The times, they are a-changing...

"That sounds perfect" Soraph said, beaming at the Toa of Magnetism. She ran forward and slipped an arm between Casanuva's, letting the Toa properly escort her.

The group of Mata-Nuians and Dasakans exited the Koro peacefully, making good time as they trekked across the short beach and into the mainland jungle towards the waterfall. Soraph thought it was exceptionally beautiful- there was nothing like it back in the Empire. Oh, Oki had a few waterfalls, small little things with streams of water that fed into pools, but nothing so grand as Naho Falls. That giant Kaukau statue!  It must have been almost impossible to build. No, the Vilda princess corrected herself, impossible for the Empire. Here, they could just have a Toa of Stone flap his arms around and the structure would build itself.

She felt the littlest bit jealous of the natives here, the way they could mould nature to their will.

Of course, getting into people's mind had it's fun too.

They reached a small clearing a short distance away from the bay, close enough that that waters edge could just barely be glimpsed through the thicket of trees. Another minute or two of walking and Soraph could dive straight into the water.

"Why don't you go on and I'll Willhammer Vakua here, and when I'm done I'll send him back and call for Casanuva? It's peaceful here, and this is easiest when I'm alone."

Moving his hand back towards his primary weapon and securing his hold on it with a two-handed grip, he perfomed a downwards slash with the katana, using it to send a sudden gust of wind between his opponent and the interfering Red.

"I thought I made it rather clear that I didn't require your assistance," he said as he continued to stare down the Ta-Toa.

OOC: posting for raz while he fighting for motivation o7

IC:

"You'll get used to that. Sarge gets a bit exuberant, but that just runs in her family. She's a natural Marine, put herself through some of the toughest training Mata Nui has to offer, and she sure as Karz can crack a whip when she wants." Goldie grinned assuredly, as the unflappable Warrant Officer of the duo should, and shrugged at the commodore. "She straightened me out just fine, and that's no mean feat. Just cuts a little looser than the rest of us."

He looked back towards the Sergeant, who was pointing at one of the scoreboards and excitedly explaining to Daijuno why the Takeas were going to have three players in the All-Ga-Koro team by season's end, and how if even one of them hit the pitch against Ta-Koro they were going to string the lava-surfers up on the goal posts.

"Still...might be best not to let her get her way entirely." A familiar mischief lit up his blessedly handsome face. "I'm a loyal wingman, Miss Commodore, but I don't see how I could politely refuse if you chose to sit next to Sinshi at her booth while I run interference on Daijuno. Not without causing some kind of incident."

I'm sorry, Sarge. She expects one of us in the wreckage.

Goldenpecks took a pitcher of beer in each hand, pitched in for a third for Ayiwah, and casually walked over to the back-to-back booths Whitehot had picked out. Playing it cool and casual as always, he set two down at one booth and sat across from Daijuno, projecting every intention of sitting at a booth for three - until the commodore kept walking and sat down smoothly next to Sinshi. Whitehot, who had kicked her feet up on her half of the booth and rested her wrists on her knees, looked at Goldie sharply.

I did what I could. The rest is up to you.

He handed a pitcher of beer over the back of the booth wordlessly, distributing the spoils evenly.

IC:

Whitehot fought down the desire to strangle either herself or Goldie and poured four beers - one for each of the three women, and one in the center of the trinity for whoever finished first.

"So," she said, taking a large drink of beer and ahhing as she mustered her resolve, "Ayiwah, Sinshi here says you don't eat giant lizards every week. Insisted it a couple times, in fact. What do you snack on if there's no such thing as Tahu Burgers?"

Ga-Wahi-------Ga-Koro-------Front Gate

It took three hours, two extra pulleys and a boatload of rope, but Marya finally finished the repairs to the Front Gate. She dusted off her hands and stepped back, looking up at the finished product. The Sign was still leaning against the wall, but it was going to take a whole team to return it to the top of the gate, or a Toa or two if she could find one. For now, the defensive structure of the Gate was restored. Maybe even a little better than it was before.

And not a moment too soon. The sun had started to set while she was finishing the gate, and was now painting the sky a brilliant array of oranges and pinks. She picked up her toolkit and waved to the guards at the gate. "Have a good night!" She called. "Let me know if the mechanisms give you any trouble!"

She walked into the village, listening to the bustle of traffic as matoran rushed about, trying to finish their shopping before the stores closed for the evening. Restaurants around her were packed, and she could vaguely hear the beginnings of a fight starting in one or two of them. She wandered in to the main market, bypassing the stalls of food and fabrics for the far more interesting mechanical supplies and technological trinkets. She finally stopped at one and bought one of the newest tools for the up-and-coming- an iStone.

"Finally giving in, Huh Marya?" The merchant asked as she stowed the trinket in her bag and handed over a large pile of widgets-a month's salary, almost. "I've been tellin' ya, you can't beat one of those iStones. You'll never go back to tablets and paper!"

"I have to admit I admire the craftsmanship." Marya said with a shrug. "See you later!"

She wandered the streets, listening to half-heard conversations and watching the sun set over Naho falls. She finally returned to her little house, tucked on its own lillypad between the Pier and Nixie's astonomy tower. As she crossed the bridge to her hut, she took a moment to check the counterweight ropes and support struts. A force of habit for an engineer.

Her house was designed like most Ga-Matoran huts; a main living space with a bed and a few decorations, maybe a small chest or a shelf for personal possessions.  Marya had a chest against one wall, a bed to the right as she walked in. There was a laddder that led up to a second floor, where she kept most of her blueprints related to village construction and her work table. It had taken forever to build it, but it was worth it. There was a nice view too, easy to watch traffic and spot any problems with the bridges or gates.

Marya pulled out a bag from under her bed and put the iStone and a few miscelaneous supplies in, leaving the rest of her usual toolkit at the end of her bed. Slinging it over her shoulder and making sure it was secured shut, she walked over to the chest, opened it, and jumped in.

The Chest wasn't actually a chest. It had a false bottom that gave way with enough pressure, allowing a drop into the water below. Marya dove under the water, letting the current and her own power carry her out of the city limits and towards the shore. She stopped to catch her breath, watching the sunset turn purple. Then she dove, searching for the entrance to the cave. She spotted it hidden behind its usual tangle of weeds, and swam toward it. A few minutes later, she was dripping dry on the floor of a large, brightly lit cave.

Every engineer on Mata Nui had some sort of secret workshop, and she was no exception. An engineer's workshop was the place to work on prototypes and personal projects, away from the prying eyes of curious matoran and fellow nosy engineers. Hers was brightly lit with several lightstones, with tables lining the walls and a locked chest tucked under a workbench. That was were she kept the REAL blueprints for the Ga-Koro security system. She trusted people, but it wasn't a smart idea to leave important materials like that around where anyone could see them. A curious observer would be shocked to discover some... extra surprises that weren't on the official plans.

Marya walked over to a workbench and set her waterproof bag on it, gently pulling out the iStone. It was a masterpiece. Specially made in Onu-Koro, the iStones were legendary for being unbreakable. If anyone did manage to break it (for the purposes of science, of course) All they would find was broken machinery. No one had figured out how to replicate it.

It was going to be a pleasure to try.

Marya picked up a delicate instrument and adjusted a lightstone so it shone a little brighter on the iStone. "Now." She said, smiling. "Let's see what makes you tick."

OOC: No, Marya's not going to be able to crack the iStone open. Not yet. But I was reading through the New Player topic and saw the sentence that said that No one had been able to crack the iStone open and have the inner mechanisms intact. The half-formed character in my head took it as a challenge. So she's certainly going to give it her all. But I will leave it up to the GMs if she actually succeeds or not. If this still seems a little too forward or God-moddy, let me know.

IC: Tezzek

"These are, indeed, greener pastures than Po-Wahi." He replied, chuckling. "Might I suggest slightly north of here? That region usually holds flatter, greener pastures, better soil and all. Why do you seek the greener grass, might I ask? You often don't see a vortixx doing topological studies all that often, you know."

IC: The two Kalta exchanged a glance. Vakua straightened his back and nodded. Casanuva cocked his head. "Sure thing. Be careful in there, his head's one of the few things going for him." Vakua smirked, and snapped his fingers. The sound was amplified, particularly around the Fa-Toa, who winced.

"Fine, you have other talents. Just... be careful. Both of you." Turning to Arisaka and Asa, he started walking to the shore. "So you ladies don't have much metal back where you come from, right? Then come... I must show off magnet tricks."

Vakua turned to Soraph. I believe I am ready. Unless I should be sitting down...?

The times, they are a-changing...

IC: Vilda Mako (Mako's Cabin)

"I see, but if you want that, you'll have to make your case to me." I said seriously as I stood up, arms crossed with an unblinking gaze.

"You have to show me how your desire to improve yourself pleases Zuto Nui and the Three virtues."

"You want to increase your Power. But Order and Honor must also- naaaaah" I couldn't stay serious for very long. I had never been big on that sort of thing.

"Just kidding, don't worry. I don't need to hear you talk pretty, I prefer the hands-on approach."

"Show me your moves. I want to see what you've got, and base my decision on that."

IC (Dakte)

Dakte smirked in amusement at Mako's mock waxing-philosophical. It didn't surprise him that the Datsue wasn't keen on that sort of thing, given his earlier comments, but even so it had fooled him for a moment.

"Well, you've had a look at how I use my Soulsword, courtesy of Kama," he said. "I did use the Mindarm against Labelle, but that was mostly brute power. I think you might appreciate a demonstration of finesse rather than force."

He drew out a small square of plain yellowish paper from a pouch at his waist and spread it out, placing it on his open left palm. He closed his eyes, breathed in deeply, and reached out with his mind.

The paper began to curl in on itself in sections, flattening against itself. Sharp creases appeared, running along the edges of the folds. Flaps rose and fell, sometimes tucking under one another, sometimes turning inside-out, sometimes folding over again. Shape emerged from flatness; structure grew out of formlessness; complexity rose up out of simplicity. A beak-tipped head formed, and a pair of triangular wings, and finally a wide, plumed tail.

Dakte opened his eyes and inspected his handiwork with a small smile of satisfaction. A little white Janu bird sat on his hand: one of the many origami forms taught to children of the Archipelago. Every fold was crisp and every crease precise though no hand had made them.

He raised his hand, and suddenly movement sprang into the stiff little shape. The wings flapped vigorously with a rustling of paper as it leapt off the Menti's hand and into flight, soaring around the cramped cabin several times until it fluttered to a halt and alighted beside Kama on her perch and was just rigid paper again.

Its puppeteer looked back to Mako.

"What do you think?"
