For the record, the only thing I've ever done that could be considered backstabbing was trying to assassinate Vox, and I wasn't "at the helm" right then, as that happened before the first game. And as for everyone else, I don't know that most of them can be called power-hungry. There actually hasn't been a whole lot of backstabbing in either of these games. There was Timelord's betrayal after the poison incident, and Smoke Monster strangling Burnmad's messenger, but those are the only real instances I can think of from Season 1. You only were successful in conquering the jungle region because their region it literally wood. Any strategic advantage they had due to landscape was null.
