IC: Haarnak (Ga-Koro)

Part 1, Book 1, Chapter 3

"Am I allowed to ask what happens if I do continue, and  what happens if I don't?"

IC: Darien

"No! You're not allowed to do ask anything! Now drop your weapons and put your ###### hands in the air!" He shouted at the idiot.

Darien was a little stressed.

IC: Haarnak (Ga-Koro)

Part 1, Book 1, Chapter 3

"In that case, I'm guessing that if I continue, It'll be a death sentence, and if I don't, it'll just be prison?" Haarnak said, smirking at the obviously enraged Bo-Toa, keeping his hands firmly by his sides and most definitely not dropping his weapons.

IC: Eleen (Ga-koro Marines HQ)

Eleen was very disturbed by Vakua's telepathy, so she asked "Um.. could you speak normally instead of.. intruding my mind?" No, I'm mute, came the answer. Eleen looked at Vakua, blinking a few times, before continuing. "Very well, then. So, you probably heard the conversation I had with Casanuva. Was everything he spoke true? Do you have any details to add?"

Tyrus winced slightly as the Toa before him, wearing a mask of healing, went to work repairing the damages caused by Flynn.

I will have to repay him in turn one of these days, the Lesterin thought with a wolfish smirk.

Zuto Nui.

Almost without thinking, Sinshi's hand moved in an archaic gesture, meant to invoke protection from danger. The sight before her was impossible, it had to be, but the Menti knew that it was not. Conjuration of metal was one thing. Any Soulsword knew how to make their power manifest, and it was within the realm of possibility that these "Toa" would know how to do something similar.

But this...

A single being's will brought the sea under her sway. The boundless, indomitable sea answered the call of a single Toa in cerulean armor, conjuring the force of the storm. In the Archipelago, there was one inarguable fact, known by the lowliest Saihoko to the highest empress. A storm cannot be fought. The weakest hurricane will never bend to the will of even the mightiest Menti. Nature is indifferent. It does not care if an unlucky fisherwoman was caught in its way, or if its drought would cause hardship. It continued on its way, never altering or halting its path for anyone. If a storm was coming, your only option was to get out of the way.

This Toa had harnessed the raw, unyielding power of the typhoon, and bent it to her will. This lone woman held the power of the elements, control of the uncaring sea. These women held the power of goddesses. Sinshi's eyes widened, her grip tightening around the handle of her rapier, more for her own benefit than anyone else's.

IC (Leah):

The Toa Maru returned the smirk, though it was more of a grim smile.

The next moment, the water, with the fire Toa trapped inside, rose up rapidly and like a worm on a fishing rod, was suspended upside down in front of the gathered defenders of the village. Before he could get out any more pseudo-smart commentary, the liquid prison enveloped him completely.

Which had two rather fortunate effects. For one, they didn't have to hear more commentary from the fire Toa and secondly, after a short while, it also caused him to pass out. With him incapacitated, Leah let her control over the elemental prison go, dropping the Toa onto the pier, where the Marines instantly removed his weapons and cuffed him.

"Get this Makuta-fish brain out of here." the Toa Maru ordered.

OOC: Harnaak isn't physically hurt, but very much knocked out. Again, with staff permission.

IC: 88

88 had never met the Toa Maru, or even heard of them before. He walked casually up to Leah and asked,

"Nice job with that. I've never seen a Toa of Water do that before. It looked like pretty advanced stuff you were doing there. Any chance you are an elite Toa of sorts, or were you just showing off for the newcomers?

IC Kotak: As the Toa Maru of water Wrapped up the skirmish with the crazed Ta-Toa, Kotak slipped back into the crowd. Suddenly uncomfortable in the swarm of people, he began making his way out of the Koro.

"I'll come back a little later, when these beings have settled in a little more," He thought. Taking one last glance at the Maru of Water, he was struck by inspiration. He'd heard rumors, of course of the ancient lair of the Makuta, and that great power could be found there, though had never taken the seriously. Seeing this Toa in action, however....

"Well, it's worth a look," He said to himself, and he passed the gates of Ga-Koro.

OOC: There's still a way into the Mangaia at kini nui, right?

IC: "There's always the bad apple that ruins the basket." Sudo agreed, frowning and YO CHECK OUT THE MARU CHICK PUTTING THIS THING ON LOCKDOWN

Sudo was appreciative.

IC: Wherya (Southern Charm)

"Yeah... you're not alone in that" I responded to the Angler, burying my face in an open palm.

I felt at odds with myself. On the one hand, always cool to see Toa Powers at work, I get some of my best inspiration from that, and being done by a Maru is just an added bonus.

On the other, good grief this didn't bode well for the new arrivals' impressions of us.

IC (Leah):

Leah looked at the bystander who'd addressed her and shook her slightly.

"Just doing my job." she said, before making her way towards the ship.

She could tell the crew felt uneasy, but her mask also told her quite clearly that these crystal-clad Toa and Matoran had no ill intentions. The fact that they were wearing crystal-armor, weaponry and that their strange ship was mostly constructed out of the rare material registered with the Toa Maru, but Leah was too exhausted to get overly excited. She just wanted to keep the peace and make sure that, whoever the visitors were, that they would at least make a semi-decent impression.

Among those gathered on the deck, she spotted one Matoran-like woman, who wore some of the most elaborate clothes and armor she had ever laid eyes on. Combined with the well-armed Toa-like guards standing around her, whose eyes were constantly scanning the gathered crowd for trouble, she deduced that this was the person in charge of the group of newcomers. And there was another nearby, who stood out for her uniform and posture, which was clearly military.

Time to say hello... Leah thought.

-----------------

(Ayiwah)

Back on the ship, the rather alarmed Dasaka had been watching the proceedings, but once another of these - Toa - showed up, things settled down rather quickly, thanks to another display of elemental control. Like Sinshi, the commodore was rather impressed by the array of powers the islanders could wield and just like before, the military strategist in her contemplated what one could do with a being of such power aboard a ship of war.

Now that the immediate danger was over, she sent out a quick mental message to the crew to stand down. It seemed that for every crazy being among those that had gathered to watch the Ryuu and her crew, there were two to three sane people to even out the lunacy.

The Toa of water was moving through the crowd towards the ship now. She bore no insignia of rank, at least none that Ayiwah recognized, but judging by the reaction of those nearby she had some form of authority, or at least reputation. And she had - quite effectively, Ayiwah thought - defused the situation by knocking out the would-be attacker. It was fast, rather brutal, but still non-lethal. If it had been up to her, the commodore would have bisected the being in mid-air.

Once she reached the foot of the gangway, the Toa stopped. Now that she was close by, Ayiwah could see that she was not in the best physical condition. She seemed tired and was leaning heavily on her staff, which also served as her weapon it seemed, and her shoulders rose and fell quite noticeably from heavy breathing. Yet, her voice was firm and clear as she spoke again:

"My apologies for the strange welcome, travelers. I am Leah, of the Toa Maru. This village and island are under my protection. Please, come ashore whenever you like and rest assured that we mean you no harm."

IC: Darien

Darien watched as other Marines cuffed the lunatic and dragged him off toward the holding cells. Darien sighed, this was hardly the first impression they wanted to give these newcomers. But that was Mata Nui for you, full of crazed lunatics that just made his job more interesting than it ever needed to be.

IC: Arisaka

Arisaka was at a loss, these Toa had impossible powers over nature itself. This Leah of the Toa Maru could control the sea itself. Just how many more of these Toa were there? Hundreds, Thousands? This village of Ga-koro, while proving to be friendly toward them, still appeared to have dangers. How many other Toa were out there that might wish to harm them? And for no other reason than just being deranged? Protecting Lady Hanako in such conditions was going to prove difficult, but by her honor she would keep her safe.

Still, the sooner they were in a more secure location the better. Out in the open they were way too vulnerable. They still knew very little about this island and it's people and it seemed imperative that they learn more. Lack of information could be the death of them.

.:We need to get out of the open:. She sent to Ayiwah.

IC:88

88 walked up to the boat. It was unlike any boat he had seen before. The only explanation he could think of for its appearance was that maybe it can go underwater. It was also made of metal, somehow. Curiously, 88 lightly knocked on the side of the vessel, getting a faint bong in response.

IC: This ###### guy.

Sudo discreetly sent a strong breeze 88's way, and while the effect was much weaker when it reached him than it was from the onset thanks to the distance between them, he should still have been able to feel that.

Immediately afterwards, Sudo reassumed his air of mild interest and observation, as if nothing had happened in the first place.

IC: 88

88 staggered back and clutched his head. There was a voice. Not his own voice, someone else's voice. It was in his head. No one was talking to him, but someone was thinking to him. And that made no sense. And it hurt. Was it supposed to hurt? 88 didn't know. He couldn't remember the last time he felt any pain. Now, he couldn't even alleviate the pain. It felt like a strong headache pounding away, only letting up when he had moved away. He stood there in amazement and thought to himself,

They must have some sort of sonics or psionics powers if they heard that small knock. Either that or the inside of that "submarine" is really easy to hear in. And how did I get a message sent to my mind?

Then, 88 got an idea. An evil idea. An awfully mean, terrible, evil idea. He cleared his mind, approached the subma-thingy, and thought of only one thing: knocking on the metal side of the vessel. The plan? If they could sense his malicious thoughts and respond, they obviously have some sort of psionic powers.

A block of stone materialized out of thin air and blocked 88's approach. In his ear he would hear the sound of something whizzing.

Not soon after, he'd be able to gaze upon a six-inches tall Toa landing on the rock, holstering a tiny Volo Lutu Launcher, glaring at him with what I'd like to call theoretical murder in my eyes (just taking cues from the crew)

IC: 88

88 was too focused on the response in his mind to notice the tiny Toa. He stood there amazed and nodded before walking off to ponder what had happened.

I think I'll just go an visit my old house. That what I came to do, after all, He thought to himself.

88 walked out of town and towards where his old home had been, in the lush coastal forest of Ga-Wahi.

After sneaking a look at the sub from close-up (yeah, I'm awful), I zipped back to the Southern Charm, glowering with a sense of accomplishment.

I returned to normal size leaning against the mast holding the Crow's Nest.

"Maybe that'll get us some points in their eyes." I said as I made a point of twirling the Volo Lutu Launcher before holstering it again.

IC: (Mons Shajs)

Shajs had kept a guarded posture during the attack, wondering why the lunatics always attacked at the worst times. He was determined to keep the dock and the dignitaries safe from harm, so his hand stayed firm upon his pistol-grip until the idiot was knocked out by Toa Leah. When the Maru came to greet the foreigners, he stepped back, saluted, and let her fill the role of emissary. He was still adamant upon guarding the area, so he stayed put, in as rigid a posture he could take. Look more professional, he thought. The Marine knew the drill, but was far from used to it.

IC (Ayiwah):

.:We need to get out of the open:.

Ayiwah considered Arisaka's words and then agreed. She was right and her point was backed up by another of the islanders knocking on the hull of the ship. Nothing critical, but it was the lack of asking for permission that bothered the commodore. Luckily there was a simple solution.

.:Taz, I'm going to initiate the 'no touchy' protocol:. she mentally sent out, followed by an order for everybody not in the shore-party to return below decks and for those in the group to assemble topside, before she turned to Hanako once more.

"Mylady, I feel as though our vessel is attracting a bit too much attention. If you'll follow me onto the pier please, we will submerge the vessel."

Hanako nodded. "Very well." she said, signalling her Hogo retainers, who formed up around her while the commodore approached the gangway, looking at the Toa Maru waiting on the pier.

"We will take you up on your offer." she said. Leah nodded in return. A few moments later, the Dasaka diplomatic delegation, led by Hanako, followed by Ayiwah, Tazera, the guards and the rest of the selected crew made their way down the walkway.

At the same time, the commodore gave the order to submerge the vessel, which it did rather quietly behind them, until only the conn-tower was visible. The ship was far less vulnerable (Relatively speaking, considering the elemental control Toa had in these lands.) this way and it was easier to protect, since only a couple of Menti and Dashi were needed to keep watch from atop the tower.

Ayiwah felt the cellulose material under her feet vibrate slightly as she set foot on it. She was standing on a new island, thousands of miles from home. The feeling could not be put into words easily, but she and Tazera exchanged a glance that said enough.

The Toa standing before them, roughed up as she might have been, smiled at Hanako and them.

"On behalf of all those that call this island their home: Welcome to Mata-Nui."

OOC: Little edit: Shore party means all of you who were picked to come along for the trip. So if you have a PC aboard the Ryuu and want to set foot on MN, now's your chance. We're gonna get the formal introductions out of the way first though, before you can start to wander and explore Ga-Koro at your leisure.

IC: Soraya [The Ryu... for a few minutes]

The words that came out of her mouth as the Matoran tackled her to the deck would've gotten her three days of dye-squeezing duty from Morie.  Outside the ship, there was a scuffle as Mr. Firehands was taken down, and Soraya shook her head as she stood again.  "Fireball never even made it halfway across the bay, you know that, right? Watch the body-checking."

Before the Matoran could respond, the Commodore made her next order.  She groaned and grabbed him by the arm, then dragged him down the ramp with her.  "Come on.  Time for us to get onto dry land, 'less you feel like getting a very close look at the seafloor."

And as for the fact that one of these Toa had just made the ocean dance like a well-trained pet - well, that could get its full consideration when her brain could allocate the appropriate amount of screaming.

IC: Angitu had moved out of the crowd and watched from a distance as the lunatic had some knuckle laid down upon him.

He thought back to his actions in the bay, which he had been feeling increasingly stupid about doing. "At least I won't go down in history as the guy who tossed the fireball."

Angitu tilted his head as the sub submerged. "Oh. So that's what it does." He said to nobody in particular.
