Art Vandelay
Hero Factory's official Facebook was quietly shut down today. I suspect the announcement of its cancellation isn't far off. I'd say most likely after NYCC, because they'll want to space out the announcement of BIONICLE 2015 and the announcement of Hero Factory's cancellation pretty well. Are you sad that HF is gone? I wish that it could have gotten a proper sendoff wave like the Stars for BIONICLE, but I admit I'm glad that it will be completely out of BIONICLE's way in 2015.
dotcom
Eh, it was bound to happen. Very few themes last as long as Hero Factory did anyway. It had a great run and a bunch of pretty neat sets. I will remember it fondly. And keep laughing at all the hilariously terrible unfortunate implications it never failed to have. Anyway, I doubt it'll have a real "announcement" of cancellation, most themes just end, quietly. I doubt this will be much different.
Toa Smoke Monster
I didn't even know HF had a Facebook page... fishers64
HF had some cool stuff, but in the end nothing can replace Bionicle. For some reason, I'm glad it happened, but I think its dead now. That's the thing - I think HF stayed just long enough, just enough to give me the waves that it did, each with its own cool concept. But I don't think prolonging it past this point will do anybody any favors. Part of me would like to see the various plot cliffhangers resolved, but the story was so badly done I really don't care anyway. In story, it was meh, in sets, it was good, but in timing, it was immaculate. Beginning it saved Bionicle, ending it brought back, and in the middle, we got some really cool stuff. It was cool, but I won't miss it, and it couldn't have picked a better exit. 3 Quote Hero Factory RPG | Bionicle Mafia XXIX: Storyline & Theories
Art Vandelay
I was never a huge fan of it. The half baked story turned me away from being interested in buying the sets, so I only ever bought one: a Nex 2.0. I tried to give it a serious chance a few times, but as mentioned above, it could never replace BIONICLE. I wasn't surprised when I saw that the FB page had been shut down, but I felt like there was a missed opportunity to give it a symbolic sendoff wave in 2014 instead of IFB. I'm glad there will be no HF sets in 2015, however. All of that budget needs to be put into BIONICLE.

Gatanui
It was cool when it lasted and I got quite some enjoyment from it, especially in the beginning, when we got fun stuff like Hero Factory FM. We got the CCBS and the minifigures in the end were a really nice idea with lots of potential. However, if I have to choose between BIONICLE and Hero Factory, I'll always choose the former. -Gata Edited September 22, 2014 by Gatanui 1 Quote - Gata Please don't use my avatar or signature without permission, thanks! Kopekemaster
As most of you probably know, I was rather neutral to HF, and that much only because I liked some of the new pieces that came with it. As a result of that, I'm not really affected much at all about this, especially because those pieces that I liked will, very likely, be continued (or at least used somewhat) in upcoming Bionicle sets. Toa of Gallifrey
I'm kinda sad that HF is ending, since it sprouted so much potential with Breakout and Brain Attack, and IfB just sent it all to Karzahni. I hoped there would be one last wave to tie up Breakout and BA but it looks like this is it. It's been a good run, and CCBS is safe with Bionicle.
masterchirox580
Well I guess it's safe to declare that it's over for HF, so long HF you had your ups(breakout) and your downs(IFB), for some you created great love for your simple design and light hearted good robot stops bad robot story, and in others you inspired hatred for your simple design and light hearted good robot stops bad robot story. But in the end I think we can at least give HF this, it tried to capture the youth like bionicle did in the two thousands, sure it might have failed but at least it tried to have a unique identity which is something we don't see in most lego themes today. so yeah goodbye HF. 1 Quote It's time to move on. Lyichir
Other than indicating that the line is indeed drawing to a close, this doesn't affect much—from what I recall, the FB page hadn't been updated significantly since 2011. Which is a shame—in the early years Hero Factory seemed like it would use social media and fan interaction to do unique things with the story which Bionicle couldn't, but that direction was soon abandoned in favor of a more hands-off approach. Lenny7092
Well, I can see that Hero Factory seems to be ending because the Facebook page for it has been shut down, but we can not tell if Hero Factory is really ending or not. We had not see upcoming sets in 2015 yet. If there are, Hero Factory would still continue, but if there aren't, well, sadly, it would surely end. It's sad to see a possibility that it is ending. Since it came out in 2010, I have grown to like it. It cheered me up when I emotionally suffered the cancellation of our beloved Bionicle toy line in the same year. Hero Factory was getting more awesome by releasing sets, story, comics, a TV series, books, and the CCBS, despite there were some silly things, like unresolved story ones and the IFB TV episode. Anyway, it would be sad to see Hero Factory end.;( Quote I like Lego, Bionicle, and Hero Factory!

Zeb
I wish we could have gotten XL forms of every hero, but oh well. That's what MOCs (and a Mask of Creation ) are for. I think I'll rate the sets and story from 1 to 10 to show my opinion on HF's heights: SETS 2010: 7 (Hero sets were a bit too boring and unflexible, but larger sets were nice)2011 Ordeal of Fire: 8 (because of CCBS introduction)2011 Savage Planet: 7 (hero sets were a bit too similar to last year, but all those creature builds were cool.)2012: 9 (sets were a definite improvement from 2011)2013: 9 (the brains, new head, & futuristic knight style were all great)2014: 10 (Mechs made out of CCBS, Hero minifigs, and giant beasts with all sorts of cool parts!) STORY 2010: 7 (Generic, simple story, but was good for an introduction.)2011 Ordeal of Fire: 6 (A bit too simple, but still good)2011 Savage Planet: 6 (Same.)2012: 9 (The interesting plot with Black Phantom, Rocka, & the Von Nebula hand was great. And the graphic novels added to this.)2013: 8 (The brains were interesting, as was the unfortunately never explained Dark Maker. The Surge & Breez sub-plot was good, too.)2014: 7 (The story lost all the depth it gained with Breakout. This is not necessarily Lego's fault, though. It was probably due to the new animation studio, and the switch caused all character development to be lost. So overall, 2012 & 2013 were Hero Factory's heights. the last three years has the best sets, and 2012 had the best story. Voltex
Meh, I won't miss Hero Factory. 2012 was the last time I was able to get even a little bit invested into the story, and most of the sets never really interested me (specifically the summer waves, which for some reason just seemed to consistently disappoint me). Some of my favorite sets did come out of it - Nex 2.0 comes to mind - and I do wish I could've gotten my hands on the sets from Wave 1 of IFB, but in the end, I'm not going to miss it. Aanchir
Strangely, their equally defunct Twitter feed has not been deleted. But I'm sure that might follow in a matter of time. Frankly, given how long the LEGO Hero Factory social media accounts have been inactive, it doesn't surprise me that they'd be some of the first promotional channels to disappear in the advent of BIONICLE's return. It seems to me like a lot of the Hero Factory theme's early marketing was geared towards getting fans involved in new ways. But it's easy to see that many of those experiments didn't pan out. I don't believe there have been any official podcasts like Hero Factory FM for more recent themes, the attempt to put Hero Factory parts in Pick-A-Brick walls was a bust as non-constraction fans couldn't figure out what the parts were for, and Hero Recon Team disappeared shortly after its parent service LEGO Design byME (the selection of Hero Factory parts on Pick-A-Brick held out for quite a while longer, but even it is now pretty much entirely gone). But of course, with a lot of these ideas, you never know how they'll work out until you try. So Hero Factory's failings should not be construed as a lack of creativity or effort. 1 Quote Latest MOC: PAIGE (Prototype Artificial Intelligence, Gynoid Expression)

I don't even remember when. Savage Planet? In any case, it was no major loss. And I would argue that Hero Factory's sets actually continued to improve the whole time after an underwhelming start, and that the story didn't peak until later (Ordeal of Fire and Breakout could both potentially qualify as the peak, with 2012 DEFINITELY counting as the peak if you count the chapter books, which blew the TV episodes out of the water).
