IC: Root - Gym

Curses! His vine was intercepted, but before he could snap it, Vlad gave a tug and sent Root staggering forward to meet him. He tried to at least bring around the poisoned staff to impact his opponent.

OOC: I might switch between 1st and 3rd for my own convenience.

Also the body hasn't been moved right?

Some music sounds about right now.

IC: Bullseye/1st Person/Infirmary

"I will join you at the causeway, for I must do something for my friend."

I walked away from Abyssium and went to the body of Omega. Immediately, I begun to feel irritated at Exxan again.

"HOW DARE HE?"

But I had to remind myself that it had to happen eventually. I didn't know how long they would keep the body in the Infirmary so I asked Punch to retrieve my keyboard for me. At least his spirit would be calm before it left. I set the special buttons to play piano and violin, and began to play. The song began smoothly and peacefully.

IC: Vlad / Gym

Root came tumbling forward, and with him came a strike of his staff. Vlad was more or less used to getting hit by hard objects, but this one delivered not only a physical impact but a nauseating poison. Vlad staggered backwards, one knee on the ground, and clutched his stomach with his free hand. He wasn't entirely down, however - he thrust Avenger into Root's face, closed his eyes, and pressed the trigger. Through his clenched eyelids came a faint glow. Even with his tolerance of light, he wouldn't want a faceful of such strong luminescence.

I don't know why her blindness came as such a surprise to me. My brother is mute, after all. I'm no stranger to... impediments. "I go by Silencer," I replied evenly, "although I'm better known as just one of The Twins."

IC: A quintet of Porters rolled into the library, unfurling into upright stances as they entered, possibly to avoid creating noise. They began prowling through the shelves and stacks. Looking for something. Or someone.

They stopped when they reached a certain tiger-striped Rahkshi of Vacuum.

"Student Exxan. Your presence is required at request of Headmaster Tridax."

IC: Exxan - Library.

"Goodbye Rail," I called out to the other Rahkshi as I got to my feet. "You took your time," I told the Porters, the dread that had been hanging over me like a foreboding cloud finally making itself manifest. They were here, they'd come for me. My time was up.

"Let's get this over with."

IC: Root - Gym

Root did not have much time to celebrate his small victory as shortly afterwards he found himself completely blinded by the dagger. He could not allow himself the time to panic. Heroes never lose a fight.

His experience with Deadeye had taught him a few tricks regarding light. As he recoiled backward, his hand pressed to his faceplate and began growing a plant he set there earlier. The leaves were long and translucent, covering his eyes and dimming any incoming light. Still, his vision was impaired. He needed to buy time for it to recover. As he hit the ground a short distance away, his arms wrapped around his torso and poured power into his coat once more. The plants wrapping around him thickened to dull any impacts, but rendering him near immobile. He hoped Vlad would give him time to escape as Deadeye did.

IC: Hoto - Infirmary

No, the name 'Silencer' meant nothing to her, but the Twins did. She'd heard the name around the school, sometimes in connection with Exxan or Fang. The thought reminded her why she was there, and she quickly spun around to look at the rest of the beds. No, Fang wasn't in there. "Have... you seen Fang anywhere?" She asked, carefully. "I've been trying to find him."

IC: Era - Gym.

I shifted into a relaxed stance, the targets I'd been fighting dissolving away around me. I could "see" my opponent clearly, a living being made up of sound and movement. I stepped forward, spinning as I did so to put as much momentum into my swing as I can.

My whip slashed through the air, aimed at his chest.

Vlad stood up and retched a bit. He felt a little better.

Who was he kidding, it hadn't helped a bit. He retched again, more, and then felt better. Somewhat.

It seemed that his opponent had retreated. Had he won? Vlad stepped over to the plant-encrusted Rahkshi and pointed Avenger at Root, as if preparing to stab down hard, but didn't. Instead, he asked, "Vould zat be a concession?"

The offer was tempting. Root was on the ground, blind and defenseless besides his plant covering. It would be so easy to end it now. But...

"H-h-heroes never c-c-concede!"

With a quick motion, Root rolled into his opponents legs and onwards into a wall. His vision was slowly returning, but he needed more time.

IC: Stronghold/1st Person/Gym - Fighting Era

I backstepped out of the range of the whip. I instantly remembered the story Toxin told me about his fight with Silencer and how he used a mace to defeat him. I would not make the same mistake. I dashed forward intending to feint left but go with a right jab to the chest.

The whip missed him, and I let it coil back towards me, bringing it around for a follow-up strike. He ran at me, but something about his movements... I could sense the vibrations... he suddenly changed direction, taking me by surprise. His hand flashed towards my chest. I couldn't tell if he was holing a weapon in his hand or not, and I didn't feel like finding out.

I threw myself backwards, swinging out with my whip as I did so, aiming to hit him before he could recover.

"East Dorms, 3rd from the middle." Sidonas hissed this quickly, he needed to get in his suit fast and grab his notes. He was very worried as to who had his Codex, and if they could crack his code or not.

IC: Sidonas - Dorm

Sidonas snuggled comfortably into his suit, grabbing his notes and satchel, and Hook, which had been hanging out the window. "I have a plan, but it is risky, you four need to search around, one in the Gym, one in the Library, one in the Refectory, and one of you need's to sneak into the headmaster's "office" and see if he has it. When you have it, come back here and then we need to go to the Cauldron to hide it. This will be very risky, but my life, and possibly some of the Ghosts' lives depend on getting that Codex. I have several inventions for use, but they are still prototypes I haven't tested. Good luck." With that Sidonas gave them each a device: his Crossbow Gauntlet with 10 bolts and 3 different lethal and non-lethal poisons to tip them with, the nearly finished Sword Gauntlet, which creates a blade that can be detached to turn into a sword, Hook, his trusty grappling hook/ melee club/ mace, and a small set of non-lethal poisons. "Use these carefully. If someone has to die, don't leave any evidence, just make them disappear somewhere. I will be working on getting into academy security. There will be plenty of widgets to go around when this is done."

OOC: Just so you know, Stronghold always wears his cestus, it's all the matter of whether he uses his detachables. Both luckily he doesn't.

IC: Stronghold/1st Person/Gym - Fighting Era

I didn't have enough time to step back, so I braced for impact. The chain dented the armor on my chest, but I didn't feel the pain. At least for now. On my quick scan of the room before the spar I noticed a a cave form around 2 Rahks. I decided to use the same technique for my advantage.

"If I can't easily get to her, then I'll just make it so she'll have to come to me...okay...I'll just keep that thought to myself."

I imagined a cage that enclosed the two of us. Although it would allow no chance for my opponent to escape, it also meant I would always be in the range of the chain.

The gym eventually responded to my thoughts and enclosed them in a wrestling cage.

I smirked and went for a left jab to her chest.

She nodded. That must be what happened, but it didn't seem like Kat thought about it that way, nor would Fang. "Thanks, Silencer. I'd better find Fang. He might not... understand like you do."

She started for the door without a single idea of where to look.

IC: The Porters seemed to form an escort around Exxan as they led him to the Headmaster's Office, one in front, two to his sides and two behind. A crude star. They kept to foot, possibly assuming if they rolled they were too easy to escape from. Once they reached their destination they fell back, barricading the door as Exxan went in.

Inside there was the whole trinity of staff. Tridax had positioned himself in an enormous armchair, staring directly at the door, directly at Exxan. Palma and Suvak were lingering back behind him, clearly neither was happy to be there. Palma specifically couldn't seem to look up from her feet. It had probably been her who had told Tridax of the death, no wonder she was uncomfortable.

"Well, what are we going to do with you?" said the Makuta, steepling his fingers, "I really can't let you walk this one off. The stunt with the temple I could let slide, pass it off as...youthful exuberance. But it seems you feel that has given you leeway to do as you please with no consequences. And I'm afraid this means I must teach you a valuable lesson." Those slender fingers made a sudden and simple gesture, and Exxan was slammed to the the ground as though the entire planet had just come to rest on his shoulders. Another gesture with the other hand and waves of magnetic force snaked around Exxan, dragging away his staff, Blossom, and every last knife. Tridax seemed to take notice of the first of these, making another motion towards it. The power of magnetism took hold of it, making it writhe through the air. One end grabbed hold of Exxan's left arm, twining round and round it, a metal strand of ivy finding purchase. The other started coiling through the spines on Exxan's back, and when both pulled taut it dragged Exxan's arm behind his back to an almost painful degree.

"Suvak will keep care of the rest of your weaponry. Well, the rest of your weaponry," Tridax's eyes cast a crimson glow over the staff-turned-snare, "Until such a time as I deem you worthy of having them returned. I don't appreciate having my Rahkshi killed, Exxan. Which is why I have chosen not to simply purge you. It would be a waste of two specimens, twice the collateral damage. No, I'm simply going to remind you that your ties to the Brotherhood are stronger and worth more than you seem to realise. And if I happen to make it easier for your fellow students to get a few kicks in while you are currently handicapped, well..." The Makuta leaned back in his chair, casting his face in shadows that Exxan was sure weren't there a few seconds ago, "If that happens I'm sure the lesson will stick longer than the bruises will. You are dismissed."

He finished his song. He hoped that Omega's spirit, wherever he was, was content and at peace. He looked at Hoto. She seemed to be trying to find someone. Perhaps it was Fang...

"Hey, Hoto. If you're looking for Fang, perhaps try the Courtyard. I think he went there with Vaalku while I was talking with Abyssium.

Hoto turned back to Bullseye. "Thanks," she said, quietly. "You... you play well." She hadn't noticed he had been playing, but connected the dots when he spoke after the song finished. It was beautiful, a good way to send off a close friend.

She ran out the door towards the Courtyard, a little uncertain of how to get there. Why would Fang go there of all places?

IC: Era - Gym.

The jab connects and spins me backwards into the wall of a cage that hadn't been there moments before. I pull my whip back into my hands, wrapping the chain around one hand and holding the blade end in the other, with the rest of the chain hanging loosely between them. If he could use the gym to his advantage, so could I. I doubted that it would let me immediately undo what he'd done, so I did the next best thing: made my own special addition.

I enforced my will on the cage around me, forcing the gym to make them expand, forming a solid enclosed wall instead of a mesh cage, plunging us into pitch darkness. But I'm blind: I'm always in darkness. The advantage is now mine.

I swung the blade at his chest.

IC: Exxan - Headmaster's Office.

"Leeway to do what I want?" I spat, pushing past the pain of my twisted arm. "What? You think I wanted to kill Omega? The only reason I did what I did was  so that Omega wouldn't be the one here enduring this, so that it wasn't my body on the ground spurting antidermis everywhere." Since Tridax had decided not to kill me, I was going to make karzdamnded sure he at least had the courtesy to hear me out.

"One of us was going to wind up dead no matter how things turned out, so if destroying a threat to my own life is such a crime, then I've already learned my lesson. Because I'm sure letting him kill me would have made you so much happier." My words dripped with venom, my eyes glaring at Tridax's shadow-wraithed face.

Siren was cloaked outside Tridax's "room", wanting to hear what the master had in store for Exaan. She heard a lot of banging, usually a good sign. Then, she heard Exaan speak with venom in their mouth. She couldn't hear precisely what she said, but she hoped that she was punished swiftly for that.

Rahkshi should know their place and how they should be treated and treat one-another, not killing everything and everyone willy nilly. At least, that was Siren's view on the matter.

Vlad was knocked over as Root rolled into his legs. By the time he stood Root was a fair distance away. Curses, he'd been hoping to end the fight there.

He rushed after the rolling Rahkshi, not wanting to give him a moment's leeway. He was soon able to catch up - running was much faster than rolling, after all. But as soon he did the poison racked his system once again, and he stopped, clutching his stomach and hoping the Rahkshi of Plant Control wouldn't take the opportunity to spring into an attack.

IC: Stronghold/1st Person/Gym - Fighting Era

As soon as I saw the cage become walls, I began to imagine lights. The lights came too late, though, as the blade of her chain whip, slashed my chest, the slash only made a small cut where the dent on my chest was. the rest of my armor wasn't really that dented. The cut didn't matter, I was still functioning. As soon as a light appeared in one corner of the gym, I saw her, and proceeded to throw a right hook to the chin.

He raised his left cestus and she stabbed into it. He heard a squelch and felt liquid trickle down his armor, and realized that she punctured a hole through the oil container. This would be a problem as his left hand could not be used in battle for now, but it still turned to his advantage. Liquid physics meant that some of that oil probably got on her too. He jumped away and activated the lighter function within the cestus, and threw said leaking and burning cestus at her. Even if he missed, the flying sparks and flaming leaking oil would still ignite the unlit, flamable oil on her body.

OOC: Root's battle tactics are... odd, but effective, apparently. Hopefully he'll eventually fight someone where he doesn't end up rolling all over the ground in a desperate attempt to stay alive.

IC: Root - Gym

Root heard his opponent coming and tried to prepare... something to meet him. But then they collapsed and Root let out a sigh of relief. He blinked hard under the plant armor, but only blurry, dark shapes were coming into view. He couldn't meet them yet. Taking advantage of the distraction, Root rolled off again through the Gym, looking very much like a leafy tumbleweed.

IC: Fang and Hoto - Courtyard

Hoto finally ducked out the door of the Infirmary and ran off towards where she thought the Courtyard was. Luckily, she remembered correctly, and opened the door into a small but open space. She could hear Fang talking with someone off to one side. "Fang!" She called as she ran to him. "I just heard. Can I... do anything?"

Fang looked up in surprise as the door opened, but he quickly went back to his task. This was easy. Just a little bit of heat, some rolling through his fingers, and dropping the completed teardrop in the bowl. He could do it for hours if he just had a bit more energy. It was easy to just sit here and speak to Vaalku, despite the subject. But here was Hoto, a messenger from the world outside all of that. He just needed a moment to think, alone, and no one would give him the chance. So he turned back to the metal and watched the pieces glow and form in his hands, replying only absentmindedly, "Hello, Hoto. I'm fine. Just... taking care of Vaalku here."

He didn't sound fine. His voice was flat, and his motions were mechanical. He seemed... lifeless, like a machine just going through the motions. She walked right next to him and crouched down. "Please," she whispered. "Let me help."

No, of course she wouldn't leave that easily. She couldn't just let him work. He sighed and tried to explain. "I'm fine. I've talked to Exxan. We've worked it out. Just... find him. Make sure he's alright. I don't want any harm to come to him now."

She gave him a curious look, but he seemed too out of it to notice. He had never cared for Exxan, and now he was trying to protect him? This must have jarred him even worse than she could see. "O-okay," she replied hesitantly. "Just... know I'm here, if you want to talk."

"Just find Exxan," he growled. He didn't want her here, but he didn't want to scare her away. He stopped and just focused on the metal, trying to calm down. When he spoke again, his voice was back to that even tone. "He might be in the Library. Check there first."

She had jumped back against the wall when the anger crept into his voice, but that emotionless tone soon returned, even more worrying than the fury. She wasn't needed here, not now, at least. She ran back out without another word, furious at his stubborn attempts to just ignore everything. She didn't meet anyone until the Library, but she was grateful for the chance to calm down. No, she couldn't see Exxan in there, but it was hard to pick him out. She walked up to someone to ask.

"Have you seen Exxan?"

Fang watched her leave silently, almost wishing he hadn't pushed her away. But he had his project, and Vaalku, for now.
