GM IC: ELITTRA'S GROUP - TUNNEL W/ INFINITE GEM

A.D. reached down and closed his claw around the gem - but the gem was gone before he could do so, bouncing off the wall and landing with a clatter right next to Elittra's foot. The Vo-Matoran glanced to Aclaraung and then to A.D. in confusion.

"What is this?" she asked.

OOC: Drakua, I'm going to ignore a large portion of your last post because you are quite blatantly autohitting. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and just assume you don't know what that is yet - that's when you execute a hostile action against another player's character and don't give them a chance to respond to it at all, instead just steamrolling right over them. It's bad etiquette, and is, in fact, against the rules. So...yeah.

IC - Vagust:

Vagust, again, rebuffed the shove from the oversized, mutated Bohrok without much difficulty. Tahnok may have been large, but Vagust was quite a large and strong Toa. "Quite truthfully, you don't have a choice in the matter. These people are in control of your life and death, not you; and you're only here for a tournament. Do what they wish and you'll be able to survive to see another day, go back to your home likely with no time having passed there at all compared to how long you've been here, and everything will be fine. Continue to be belligerent, then one of the two behind me, either the Host or the Enforcer, is going to leave you a broken and destroyed mess on the floor much like that Matoran right there." Vagust gestured with one hand to Phazur's corpse.

"Which would you rather have happen, your death or your survival? All you have to do is fight other people for a certain amount of time and then you'll be back out of the arena, fully fixed up and everything. No actual permanent harm suffered. At all. Is it really all that bad?"

IC Kat:

I drooped.

Every part of me.

My voice came out small and shaky, barely audible.

"All I want is to get back to the people I care about. To make sure they're safe. I don't care about this stupid game or the stupid infinite system, or any of it. Everything I care about is gone, probably dead by now. And for what? This?" I said, gesturing weakly around me.

"This, circus they call a competition? Why? What purpose does any of this serve? Why should we bow to the wishes of beings who clearly don't care about our well being beyond to use us as pawns in some sick game?"

I'd been a pawn, once. Served others not because I wanted to but because I'd been told to.

Even as I stared at the ground, my will remained. Weaker, faint, but still burning like the embers of a once great fire.

IC - Aclaraung:

Aclaraung furrowed his eyebrows, focusing on the gem carefully for a moment with his mind. Now would prove as good a time as ever to demonstrate his psionic abilities alongside the rest of them, hopefully being able to pick up the gem without much trouble. After all, somebody grabbing you mentally wasn't a physical attack that could be dodged.

"Maybe I can pick it up."

OOC: I have retconned the post, and I apologize. I had it in my head that this was more a out-of-action role-play moment than an initiation of combat. Tahnok has, however, asked those questions and wants an answer.

IC: Tahnok Nuva

Tahnok Nuva, enraged by the lightning Toa's words, was momentarily over taken by the Xa's urge to Cleanse. It pointed its hammer at a table and in an instant reduced it to a puddle of slag.

CLEAN IT ALL IT MU- SLAM!

He knocked himself out of the daze. "I just want answers."

OOC: Autohitting rules apply outside of arena combat situations, because it applies to any interaction between PCs, wherein hostile contact basically is an attempt at combat. Same way in real life. If somebody punches you, they're basically trying to fight you, regardless of whether or not you're in the boxing ring.

IC - Vagust:

Why do I have to deal with this.

"Ask for them politely then. Don't try to start fighting in order to get them, especially when you've got somebody repeatedly telling you not to do so."

Well, that Matoran just died. And now people are yelling and threatening and whatever. I don't care. That tall guy with a cloak is one of the gamemakers, he organized a tour shortly after people woke up and found themselves trapped here. I need to talk with him. But first, others need to leave.

I walk to the Tall Cloak guy and shout "Okay people! Can you buggers please calm yourselves and continue chugging food into your mouths? The Tall Cloak guy apologizes for the death of that poor fellow, but the corpse will surely be taken away before it starts to rot, so don't worry!" I grab the hilt of my sword with my left hand, ready to pull it out of the scabbard.

GM IC: ELITTRA'S GROUP - CAVE W/ INFINITE GEM

Unfortunately, even as he activated his telekinesis, Aclaraung stepped on a patch of ice and slipped; the might dragon tumbled to the floor, his concentration shattered. As A.D. and Elittra both desperately tried to tackle the Infinite Gem (which bounced away easily), the floor began to rumble ominously, several fractures appearing.

"...uh oh," was all Elittra managed before the floor collapsed from beneath them.

One Matoran, two dragons, one Infinite Gem, and a whole lot of stone suddenly fell from the ceiling of the Commercial Sector Cafeteria; they were set to land directly on top of Phazur's corpse.

GM IC: "THE SHOPKEEPER" - COMMERCIAL SECTOR

"The stuff depends, y'know?" the Shopkeeper replied to Xara, now studiously ignoring the events transpiring only a few feet away with the Enforcer, Kat, the Host, and several others. "Every tournament gets 'eld in a new universe, see. New dimensions, new treasures. Always lookin' fer somethin' that might 'elp 'em. Right now, this place... they're lookin' for gems. Call 'em 'Infinite Gems' or summat like that. Sounds like there's a lot of 'em, the gems. Lots o' differen' powers. Maybe one is what they're lookin' for, y'know?"

The Shopkeeper frowned as a loud series of cracks echoed throughout the cafeteria. He glanced up and his mouth fell open.

"Well... that ain't gonna be pretty," he said, as Elittra, A.D., and Aclaraung tumbled out of a hole in the ceiling.

GM IC: KOPEN + LYTREL + NOCTON + VON WORTEN - TUNNEL

Lytrel's attack, at first, seemed to do the trick; the appendage flinched away from his weapon, releasing Kopen at the same time. For two long seconds, it seemed as if that was all - they would be able to go free.

That was when four more took its place; one wrapping around Lytrel's spear, another the arm holding it, and the other two around each of Kopen's legs.

While both Lytrel and Kopen were stuck in the silence, further back the way they had come, both Nocton and Von Worten could hear everything as they approached, although neither Kopen or Lytrel had any way of knowing that help was on the way.

IC: Xara - Commercial Sector.

I was really starting to hate that dragon. It seemed to show up at the worst possible times. Without stopping to wonder how the karz it and its companions had wound up in the ceiling, I took advantage of the distraction to ask the shopkeeper one final question.

"Any idea where these gems could be found?"

GM IC: "THE SHOPKEEPER" - COMMERCIAL SECTOR

As the two dragons and Matoran slowly got to their feet, all of them dazed, the Po-Matoran chortled once more, nodding to Xara and grinning as he pointed towards the fighters amid the rubble.

"Indeed I do," he said, laughing. "Usually ya'd 'ave to find one in a tunnel or somethin'... but it looks like one's right there!"

And when the Rahkshi turned to see what he was pointing at, she would indeed see a small, clear gem spinning in place on the floor just a little ways away from the rest of the rubble; it would not be long until others noticed it as well.

"Because you'll live."

The voice was quieter, the armored being trying, with a reasonable degree of success, to descend to the Rahkshi's level. It was an unusual picture, a massive suit of armor conversing with a Rahkshi, but there was something fitting about it, too. Noroi seemed to have cast the Enforcer's presence from her mind, focusing instead on Kat.

"Don't bow. But don't throw your life away on a doomed moral victory. If you do that, you'll never make it back home. If you die here you won't ever make it back to them. Live. Play by their rules, for now, because you will live." She paused, eyes almost visible behind the visor. "Anyone who stands alone will end up like that Matoran."

"So stay alive, stay safe, and one day you'll make it back home. And if there's anything good in the world, the dead will receive their justice."

IC (A.D.): A.D. saw Aclarung's request to try to get it - which he would have agreed to - but then he slipped on the ice and hit A.D.'s tail. Then A.D. crashed out of the ceiling and hit the floor. He didn't have time to open his wings nor enough time to make sure that the top of the ceiling didn't come down with the bottom. His legs hurt. His feet hurt.

Ow. He was very surprised to find himself in the cafeteria. And the Rahkshi he hated lunging for the ungraspable gem. And a lot of other things happening, but there was no way he was going to process this all at once. What the heck.

IC (Ismekne): The warrior looked on the chaos. Two fighters talking down a Tahnok in the middle of a staff war. Two Dragons falling from the ceiling. A Rahkshi heading straight for a gem on the floor and it skittering away of its own volition.

And Ismekne could not stop laughing.

IC: Skorm- Cafeteria (Chaos)

The glittering facets caught Skorm's eye as the gem tumbled towards him. He heard the Rahkshi slam into the ground where it had originated. This was... Ooh. On the one hand, it looked important. On the other hand... Well, it was important. Very bouncy for a gemstone. Skorm frowned as his mask activated: he'll try to grab it. Not much could go wrong, could it?

Now separated into different entities, Sko aimed a harmless laser at the gem to make it start refracting. Easy to see, easy to grab, right? Orm tumbled out of the chair, squinting as he tried to block the gem's path with his body.

GM IC: DODGE GEM (CURRENT LOCATION: CAFETERIA)

Orm tumbled to the floor uselessly as the Infinite Gem hopped right over him, with Sko's attack missing entirely. Its trajectory carried it straight into the path of Xara's bolt of lightning - at the last second, the gem twisted in mid-air, causing the lightning to miss by a hair's breath. It landed at the feet of Tahnok Nuva, and easily rolled out of reach as the fighter reached down to grab it.

Sko narrowed his eyes as he watched the gem go flying. He offered a hand to Orm, and they remerged. Skorm think he had an idea of how this worked; he smirked, charging a small laser and chasing the gem with it, like a bizarre reverse variation of playing with a pet rahi.

I sat back, laughing. The shopkeeper had mentioned that the gems had powers, and I recognised this one all too well. A Rahkshi power, no less: dodge. These idiots could chase the stupid thing around for hours on end and it would keep on jumping away from them. I knew that frustration all too well from my sparring matches agaisnt other students with that power.

In the end, I'd stopped trying to attack and just let them come to me, but I didn't like my chances of that happening this time.

I got to my feet and returned to my chair, content to enjoy the show. I turned to the shopkeeper once more, "You mentioned caves and tunnels," I lowered my voice. Everyone seemed to be pretty distracted with the spectacle, but I didn't want to take the risk of anyone else overhearing us, "I didn't see anything like that earlier on. Where are they?"

IC - Artorre (Food Court):

"Elittra!" Artorre cried, as he recognized his friend among the party falling from the ceiling. Concerned, for the moment, with neither the Infinite Gem nor the possibility of more stone falling, he jumped out of his seat and ran straight for her. After verifying that she was alright, he took notice of the Gem for the first time, and stood still as he waited to be struck by an idea as to how to catch it. No idea struck him, but the Gem did; it slammed fully into his mask, knocking it crooked in its erratic flight around the room. As he reached up to adjust it, he realized that the Gem had one of his mask's powers: Dodging!

With that piece of knowledge in mind, he thought it worth seeing if it dodged something that, besides being harmless, would not even contact it. To that end, he grabbed a trash can, emptied it out onto the floor, and stalked the Gem, waiting for a lull in the attacks. When Skorm begin chasing it with his laser, he scowled, but quickly turned over a table that was conveniently placed between the Gem and the trolling Toa of Twilight, breaking the beam. Before Skorm could reposition himself, Artorre took advantage of the moment, lunging towards the Dodging Gem with his overturned waste basket. He aimed to cover it up, making sure that no part of the can's rim would contact the gem where it now lay.

IC Tenjou

The Av-Toa had arrived just in time for the murder. Her jaw clenched, she knew better than to openly challenge these gamemasters. "But still..."

It was a matter of time, she knew that much. The other fighters had to share her feelings, at least the ones with their brains wired the right way round like Kale and the other light elemental. Maybe Kopen as well, though she had seemed perhaps a little hasty and incautious in her actions, even if they were the right ones.

A matter of time, she reminded herself. Even beings as powerful as these three could still be killed. She had seen stronger entities destroyed, immortal gods of darkness that her world had been ravaged by for untold millennia. Even they couldn't survive a bolt of light or a shaft of steel through the back of their skull. She didn't think these gamemasters would fare any better.

"I am sorry... But that has killed my appetite, I need to excuse myself." Despite her rational mind, her body and heart still burned with anger. The training area would be a better place for her to be than a crowded cafeteria.

In the gymnasium she set up a punching bag and a range of targets, setting her bow aside, she went to work on the bag.

I hear something odd, look at the ceiling and see a large crack that is quickly expanding. Well, apparently they could afford bedrooms for everyone, but not proper supports for the ceilings. I quickly move away and avoid being buried by a big pile of rocks and a few dragons.

What the piraka? Dragons? And a shining gem that starts to jump all over the place when some people try to grab it? I.. whatever. Where's that tournament organizer? "Tall Cloak Guy, you alright? I have a question for you!"

OoC: Talking to the Host

IC: Feli Gemshimmer (Hallways)

A very confused Toa was wandering the hallways. Moments ago she had been headed to train with her fellow knights in the temple courtyard, so her confusion was understandable. She had just seen a map of what appeared to be a large facility for combatants, with an arena and training zone. Feli dreaded to think that she might've been taken to join a Bionifight tournament again.

She finally saw someone else, it was a Toa with strange colours. Feli quickened her pace and walked towards her. "Excuse me", she asked, "but can you tell me where I am? And don't tell me this is an another Bionifight tournament.."

IC: Hmm, the complete calmness with which the Bo-Toa stated his weakness suggested to Jorth that he was lying. If someone was talking about their greatest fear he expected them to have some reluctance or worry. This sounded like a diversionary tactic.

But wait! What if it was a double bluff? Say your greatest fear in a manner so cool and collected people don't believe you and take it out of consideration. Why that was genius, it-

But double wait! What if thinking it was a double bluff was exactly what Zephyr wanted him to think? That bees were not in fact his weakness but he wanted people to think they were by making it look like they were not...

Okay, now this was just getting too complicated. Besides, where was he going to even get bees from?

"Uh-huh, so, any thoughts on this whole Bionifight thing? Resent being trapped here and such?"

IC: Well that was fortuitous. Almost as soon as Artorre mentioned Infinite Gems here one was, bouncing around like a rocket. Olari watched the various attempts to catch it, only for contestants to trip over themselves chasing the speedy little stone. You needed to think smart to catch something like that.

"Lekona, can you create a small vortex around the stone? It can bounce away from grasping hands, I think it would have trouble getting away from the vacuum suction of a cyclone."

As soon as the Manas started to move forwards, Dayeth unleashed another blast of Dark Fire. But this time, it wasn't aimed at Crusty.... it was aimed at the floor in front of him. The black flames seared across the hard floor, leaving glistening frost in its wake.

With any luck, the Manas' treads would find no purchase on the slick ice, and at the speed it was moving....

As soon as his treads began skidding on the ice, Crusty lifted up with his flight power, treads going slack as they were no longer required to propel him. As Dayeth ran underneath the Manas, Crusty deactivated his flight power, and, coupled with a speed boost, dropped. If his timing was correct, Dayeth would be squashed.

OOC: Sorry, I should have been more specific in my post: Dayeth was running away from Crusty, not towards him.  But whatever, I'll roll with it.

IC: Dayeth - Training Sector.

Apparently the Manas could fly as well? This was just plain ridiculous.

As soon as the creature started going up, she dropped down flat on her back, letting the ice do to her what she'd been intending to do to the Manas. She slid smoothly across the smooth surface, feeling the floor shake behind her as the crab slammed back down agaisnt it, probably intending to crush her if she'd still been standing.

She skidded off the ice and bounced painfully on the hard floor, before picking herself up and turning to face the massive creature. It was Rahi; she couldn't copy its powers. And who knew what else it was capable of?

But wait.... super speed, ice resistance and flight... that was three powers. Assuming the same pattern she'd seen with every other combatant was accurate, the Manas had no tricks left.

"Come and get me!" she snarled, knowing full well that the creature probably couldn't understand her.
