  1. I still don't like the Glatorians one bit. Maybe reading up on them will bring the same change to me.
  2. They make me feel....that certain magical feel only BIONICLE can bring me. These are beautiful. Beyond my skill with words to try to describe. Thank you for making these Say, could you make more like these? with other sets? edit: taking my time and really looking at them, beyond confirming how truly beautiful the artwork is, but how perfectly they nailed the color scheme for the respective characters, strengthening the notion that the Toa are the avatar of their elements. But really, the that these beautiful and diverse landscapes are part of the same island. Gods I love Mata-Nui.
  3. I agree completely. Looking at Kopaka Mata now, he does look rather skinny. But the way Lego poses him in official material, the way he was portrayed in MNOG, he just looks impressive and formidable. Lovely artwork too. I love how you depict the actual pieces in this style
  4. uh...cap? Do we have captains in BZP? Well this is the interwebz...
  5. This is an interesting discussion. Pohatu and Lewa's elements were indeed a bit confusing back in 2001, what with their habitats and earth and stone being so similar. I honestly have no idea when it was that I figured out Lewa was not the Toa of jungle/plant life, Pohatu was not the Toa of sand, and Onua not the Toa of stone. No sooner than 2006, I think. I really like the first option you wrote, Jaxus. The thought of an alternate universe where Pohatu runs about the desert being an orange Toa of Air makes me chuckle
  6. I like this theory very much. And besides, if I am not mistaken, there are plenty of other intelligent Rahi. That one species of tool wielding minotaurs come to mind...
  7. hahaha this is great! Shame you could't finish it in time for the contest.
  8. I think it adds something unique to him character wise. He is vicious you say? Maybe he has more shadow in him than light, and this is reflected on his armor? Maybe his fire abilities are so intense his armor is constantly covered in soot or something to that effect? Or as you offered, maybe he chose black armor cuz he so cewl? At anyrate, I really like this guy. The flames showing through and escaping under his armor at points is just glorious.
  9. Meh, idk. Review time. Gresh- I never cared too much for the Glatorians. Another Gresh with recolored mask and weapons? lame and disapointing. Skrall- From my limited understanding of the Bara-Magna lore, having more of this army building characters is cool, no? and a black Kopaka sword? Super cool. Rahkshi- Keetongorage is my all time favorite color. And Rahkshis are awesome. I love this set. Only Stars I own. "Piraka"- While not an actual Piraka, I felt that BIONICLE allways had alot of these characters from various races, and those fiew sets were to represent an entire race of beings. Made them feel very throwaway. I think its cool to have another Skakdi. I appreciate him. Takanuva- Nostalgic guy. Its cool to see him again, but I feel like there is not much to him otherwise. We saw him done much better two years prior. Tahu- Tahu Mata. Tahu. Mata. Back in 2010 I remember a bunch of people singing praise to the overwhelming nostalgia this set brought them (actually how I learned the word "nostalgia"). Tahu being the first and the last set they owned. While Tahu was also my first set, I did not share these feelings for some reason. And I didn't get him. Maybe I will. But at any rate, such positive response from the community cannot be ignored in my book. Golden stuff collecting gimmick- yea, classic. My final verdict: They were not amazing, but they were not horrible either (aside from Gresh), and had some genuinly enjoyable sets. And for the circumstances they were produced in back then, I am rather content. Except Gresh. To the trash.
  10. The Hordika I suppose. When I first saw them, I simply could not bring myself to like them. They simply did not have masks, they were asymmetrical and their feet were weird. Additionally, when I first read in the LEGO catalog that their names were the same as the Toa Metru, I simply didn't know what to make of it. Having watched (and loved) BIONICLE 2:The Legend of Metru-Nui, I simply did not understand how these weird looking monsters could possibly be the Toa Metru (as in how it fits into the lore). I distinctively remember telling a friend of mine that they were (so I thought) not canon, and that I'm sorry I bough Matau Hordika for him on his birthday XD Eventually, my mom pirated Web of Shadows, and I learned that such a chapter in their story is possible through a pre-sequal of sorts. And looking back on them now, having recently developed a fixation for asymmetry, they look just fine to me, and I feel they managed to pull off they mutated grotesque abomination theme just right. Oh, and I suppose its a good thing that they did not have "traditional" masks. Seeing as the team was under a unique set of circumstances, such masks would not be found elsewhere anyway, making mocing with them deterring (at least for me). Much like the Nuva Kanohi, and how the Razor Whale's rider is non-canon because of this.
  11. I really don't know. All I hope for is that it indeed continues. One of the things I enjoyed about BIONICLE in its original run was the wait to see, with baited breath, what the next year brought in terms of both set and lore. I care not for speculations on where the story will go, or what turn the set's theme will take. As long as it continues, and when it comes, It's not complete rubbish, I am content.
  12. I have recently realized this piece can be utilized as a pelvis piece, that with some work, has potential for some (primitive, but still) waist articulation. I have a moc utilizing such a technique. I might consider uploading it as my first moc on this site As for the topic at hand, I question what such a piece might help us accomplish? I feel the certain limb configurations we have now (off the top of my head, Pohatu 2015's arms, for example) allow for certain articulation options not available to us in previous sets. And seeing as the bone, when covered with a shell piece, will be indistinguishable from other bone pieces. Insta edit: I guess such pieces can help us mix G1 upper\lowwer arms\legs with G2 upper\lower arms\legs. That's cool. Ok, I'm in. LEGO, get on it. I wonder how well this and this can connect. If only my bins weren't 40 miles away
  13. Cool! Will it stick to canon? or will it take certain...creative liberties?
  14. I never heard of this site. Cool! I'll have to find the time sometime to read it thoroughly. Anyone care to elaborate on what this competition was back in the day?
  15. To me, this gives off a strong BIONICLE Master Builder Rahi set! What with the ball joint eyes, Tohunga feet and seemingly a limited pose range. I really like this enetry! It is my favorite one thus far (granted, I have yet to see much of the others)
  16. I mean, he's alright. My god that is brilliant! A clever self promotion and a blast of nostalgia from my childhood! Thank you Spirit.
  17. I sure would like to see Prime as two separate pieces. What's up with that yellow egg? I'm not liking how the names are taking a more English turn. And as a side note, posting more than one consecutive post is not allowed in BZP. I think it'd be a better idea to post your new designs to the original post anyway, that way more people might see them.
  18. I fear I haven't sufficient knowledge of physics to contribute much to this topic, but I'll try. Need to go back in time, but your useless Vahi can't do the trick? grab a Kakama and run until the planet rotates the other direction! (I admit my knowledge of DC comics is sub par aswell)
  19. Oh why...yes of coures! Bo-Matoran! How could I have forgotten...? I realized I left some things out from my earlier post. While the map is great, Its a real shame it doesn't seem to depict terrain height, which is a shame. Would be much better with this feature. For the last couple of days I was thinking about maybe putting together a map of an island much like this, which would be the habitat of the various characters I came up with. And then I find this, which is infinitely better than anything I could whip up with Paint Keep up the good work friend.
  20. Holy cow, I didn't notice the Mata were painted
  21. it was a Gameboy style GMS, I just wanted the GB music like the king megaman or super mario land- what do you mean? can you make your new game with Gameboy rom? He means he can help you make a game for the PC. I'd be cool to see a sample of the work you have done thus far.
  22. I am certain a Nui-jaga is in there. I like your work here. Sprites are such an integral part of BZP for me. I'd love to know more about this game of yours. please do tell.
  23. Amazing thing, drawing, it lets us create characters that traditional bricks simply wouldn't allow us. I very much enjoy the whole Mata design you've got going on here. I myself was hoping to erect a Mata-styled Toa team once I get the opportunity. Speaking of which, your Toa Vakama is eerily similar to a toa I designed in my mind. Down to the mask, color scheme and shield The names are alot of fun aswell. I can tell you just went wild there One thing to note though, 9 is
