The Lorax
Er...no. That's not really the point of what I was saying. You want to be able to use what you have or can easily find creatively in order to solve problems, not pull some super-powered counter-magic out of nowhere. Mundane made awesome, not deus-ex-machina. The Lorax
I'd guess that you could see the paint. Now what if you used that paint to paint a bunch of small bits of metal, and then magnetised them to stick to any metal (such as invisible toa of sonics). That way you could avoid the problem entirely, by seeing the magnets - painted bright orange - sticking all over their body. And anyone could see them, not just those with special powers. Toatapio Nuva
@Lorax: I understand and completely agree - a creative solution is always better than one using magical powers. Stimulates the mind. Many tend to rely on powers alone though, and the kind of beings I mentioned do not need to be more creative than that. @Falcon Lord: We're still waiting for our target to make the next move, I think. Parugi's controlling him, right? @Geardirector: Just interacted with Kaunis. Might as well get some action around here. The Nold
Now that I think about it, there are some beings who could detect a Sonics-Huna Toa in a natural way. - Toa of Magnetism - Skakdi with thermal vision - Toa of Water could cause a heavy rain and see the outline of the hidden figure - Maybe the Akaku? The Akaku Nuva would, but not sure about the ordinary one Can't wait to see what Weta has in store. Probably some ultra-fancy-awesome-super-duper-homing-atomic bomb-missle-weapon that can detect anything. You're forgetting one: Toa of Fire-could, well, light them on fire. Also, anyone with an Elda. Toatapio Nuva
To light someone on fire, you need to know where the target is in the first place, right? Also, an Elda would be able to detect such a being, but that mask is not allowed in the game. I wonder how many would choose it if it was. As I recall, Aaron hated it.I concur. He said himself that he didn't approve. This is actually incorrect. Well, partially. Nuju DOES hate it, always hated the sub-powers. However, they are as legit as the powers themselves because they are a natural extension of the power, not an unnatural one. It would be like saying a Toa of Magnetism cannot detect metal in a magnetic field, or that Toa of Iron cannot "feel" his element nearby. A Ta-Toa can detect heat sources. I've always allowed it, I've DONE it, and as much as Nuju may complain about it, he has allowed it as well. THAT SAID... don't overdo it. Just because you can detect a heat source does not mean you gain detailed information about the person or object. As always be reasonable with your powers, else like the Mask of Illusion sub-powers will be taken away by Nuju and I will not try to stop him. But I will remind you that you still need to play it fair. If you are in a jungle where there's lots of things casting shadow and moving leaves or in a volcano where the rivers of fire and other lightsources create numerous shadows, you will not see a Huna user by way of just pointing at a pitch-black umbra-shadow outline on the ground. otter
The reason why anybody dislike the whole idea about the secondary powers is because they're easy to abuse, which is why Tuck said not to overdo it. Sure, it doesn't say anywhere that we aren't allowed to use them, but common sense is notoriously easily ignored once those come into play. profiles i guess i'm a south american giant otter now
- JL -
Secondary powers that sense people are frowned upon because it may or may not turn into "Haha I know where you are anything you do to hide or run or simply flank is impossible" I think the more creative secondary powers that people can come up with, like that Toa of Fire creates Friction, which creates a lightning bolt, are cooler anyway. Silvan Haven
Secondary powers such as those for electricity are the worst. I think Nuju first started stating his dislike for them them about the time somebody was talking about using his Toa to perform molecular disruption. Overall, try not to do something that would normally need an entirely different element or power to perform. Edited June 9, 2013 by Silvan Haven "I serve the weak. I serve the helpless. Perhaps missing the / in the quote sign had something to do with that. Also, protip, people: Takua has entered the Vault on at least one occasion before, which means that the answer you're all looking for may not be as foreign as you think. Perhaps this is the entry Takua used? http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Sundial_Entrance Though said to lead directly to Mangaia, it could lead into the Vault in this game. The Mangaia page also mentions a door to the Bohrak nests that Takua went through, which could perhaps be another entrance to the Vault. Tabby: Toa of Cats
You would probably still have to find it first, I'm afraid. The page seems to indicate that it didn't appear on the Ta-Wahi beach until the swarms awakened. The Sundial Entrance might be another matter, however, and if nothing was done with it last year, then it's worth checking out. If someone knows about it, I have a charecter to two who I could put on the case, but they would need to be introduced to the matter first, and someone needs to verify that nothing was done with it last year (I think I recall mentions of it in the Onu-Wahi topic last year, so it may have been discovered, but unopened, I hope.)
