Do You Ever Say A Characters Name Differently?

Recommended Posts

Vezon an Lewa. Maybe Pohatu, I'm not sure.

Why are orange and black such a good color Combination ? Purple is pretty, and so is blue. Pink hurts your eyes, green is quite mellowing, black is very threatning, red is cool, orange is SO awesome, yellow's hard to read... But you can't see white at all! Oh, wait. I forgot brown.

Here's my thoughts: If a person tells the truth and says, " I always lie," Is he lying? Or is he telling the truth? And what has a mouth, but no head, and a body, but no torso? Do caterpillars like to tend to supporting colum of stone's every need? Or is that name misleading by nature? Speaking of nature, why are the children of animals called offspring? don't many young beasts come alive in spring, and thus, should be called onspring? Heeeeeeyy..... I got the first post on a page for the first time. Who knows; it may happen again. What the... It did happen again... and again...

YEAH! I'M ENCOUNTERING PROTODERMIS!

I pronounced Lewa's name as "Loo-wuh" for the longest time when I was younger, because... well I don't really know why. Now, I pronounce it "Lee-wuh'. I'm sure there are many more that I'm mis-pronouncing without realizing it, but I'm not exactly up to date with name pronunciations. If i'm mis-pronouncing any others I'm not aware of it because I don't know the correct way. -Mesonak

Among the many, there's Dekar (Deh-car, instead of the apparantly correct Day-car). I also pronounce Bitil as "bit-ill". I'm not sure if that's correct or whether it should be "bite-ill".

I do the same with Dekar, but as far as I know, Bitil is "BY-til".Anyway, I always hated Matau's name being pronounced as "muh-TOW", and will always call him "MAA-toh".

Is it really BY-til? Ick...that sounds awful. I also say BIT-illAnyway...I have to admit I jumped on the LEE-wah bandwagon in 2001 and never got off of it.There's probably a massive number of minor mispronunciations on my part, but nothing as grossly off of canonical pronunciations as Lewa or, as I just found out, Bitil.

I tend to interchange between saying LEE-wah and LAY-wah, mainly because both are official (one way in the encyclopedia and another way in the Toa Nuva Guide). I never say LOO-wah though, it just sounds stupid. Oh yeah, and I used to pronounce Nuhrii "Noo-rye-ee." No idea how I got that one. :mirunu: Lewa0111 Nuva :mirunu:

I've always pronounced Lewa "Loo-wuh" and you can't stop me.

And I've always mispronounced Vezon and Gali as well. Frankly I don't know quite how many others there are. :P Probably a good few (which is pronounced "foo," by the way).

Lots, especially Onewa. I started with "Oh-nay-wah", then tried "oh-new-uh" and have settled on what I think is the correct one, "On-uh-wah". I still can't remember how to pronounce Dume, I keep changing the last vowel (Doom-ay? Doom-uh? Doom?)

I always had a problem with Onewa... in MoL it was "On-a-wuh" then in LoMN it was "Aw-KNOW-wah". It is officially "Onua" which I hate. I always go with "On-uh-wah". and Dume has always been "Doo-muh", although I always called Teridax's winged form "Ultimate Doom Makuta."

I've had a bad history of mispronouncing names. Lewa - From 2001-2003 I sort of went back and forth between LAY-wah and LEE-wah. I call him LAY-wah now.Mata Nui - Ma-ta Nui (which is the official pronounciation). I despise Matta Nui.Lhikan - I used to call him LIE-kin (like lichen), but once I saw the movie, I switched to Lee-KAHN.Nidhiki - I've always called him Nid-hickey rather than Nidh-ee-key. Now I sort of go back and forth between the two.Nuparu - I know in one of the podcasts, Greg called him NEW-paroo, but I've always called him Nu-PAH-roo.Kopeke - I think I found this one out during the downtime. I've always called him Ko-PECK-ee. According to BS01, it's Ko-PEAK.Ihu - I've gone back and forth between EYE-hoo and EE-hoo. I'm not even sure which one's right.Visorak - back in 2005, I was confused as to whether it was VIS-or-ack or Vi-SOAR-ack. Now I call them VIS-or-ack.Ackar - ACK-ar, rather than "A car."Varian (the Toa of Psionics) - I know back when Greg gave us the name, he told us it was VAIR-ee-an, but I somehow slipped into the habit of calling her VAR-ee-an.Inika and Ignika - These two have always confused me. I think I used to pronouce Inika "In-EE-kah," but now I call them the In-NIGH-kah. And I call the Ignika the Ig-NIGH-kah.Piraka - PEER-rock-ah. Apparently it's PIE-rock-ah?Dume - Doom. Doom-uh just sounds weird. And, while they aren't exactly characters, there's also a number of Kanohi that I mispronounce.Hau - Ha-OO. It wasn't until about 2008 or so that I realized that it's actually HOW. When I found that out, I said " 'how' is that right?"Rau - Ra-OO. Same with Hau, it was years before I found out it was ROW.Suletu - Su-LEH-too, rather than Su-LAY-too. (actually, BS01 says it's SU-lay-too)Pehkui - Pe-HOO-key, although I also thought it was spelt "Pehuki." Like I said, bad history. :P And on an unrelated note, because of Tren Krom, I pronounce the Pokemon Zekrom "ZEH-khrom," while it's apparently pronounced "ZEK-rom."

I still say Lewa's name LAY-wha, and I don't even bother to remember the real pronunciation. I like my way better.

Uh.... That's exactly how to pronounce his name. And how do you mispronounce Hewkii? Hew-Kii. "Hoo-Key." How can you mess that up? As for me, I used to pronounce some of the names wrong, but after watching Mask of Light, I figured out the name scheme and never got one wrong again until Mazeka, which I pronounced "Maz-ee-ka." It's really "Muz-eeka."Outside of that, I pronounce them all correctly. t1ssig.png

I physically have no idea how to pronounce Mazeka. It just sounds wrong however I say it.LAY-wahon-AY-wah (Sometimes on-NEW-wah)VEE-zonBIT-illACK-car (ack-CAR sounds so stupid, it's as if someones just going "Oh look, here comes a car!")MEW-tron (Don't ask why, MEW-tran just sounds wrong to me) I think that's about it. Does anyone really know what the official pronunciation of Lewa is? Because on the Mini-CDs it's LAY-wah, in MoL it's LEE-wah, and in BtG it's LOO-wah. Same goes for Onewa.

Lei-Wa for me. But then again, Lewa had the WORST history of his name being mispronounced in REAL promotional materials. Off the top of my hat, I recall his name being pronounced Loo-wa, Lei-wa, LEE-wa, Leua and others.

I pronounce Icarax's name as I-car-axe

Okay, I always pronounced Icarax like that. I thought that was right.

I still pronounce Vezon, and Vezok, "Vez-on, and Vez-ok". Vayzon just sounds weird. :P

I agree for Vezok as 'Veh-ZOCK', but for me Vezon is 'VEE-zon'. I guess since they're split personalities of the same guy they should be pronounced similar... don't ask why I'm being different.

I pronounced Lewa's name as "Loo-wuh" for the longest time when I was younger, because... well I don't really know why. Now, I pronounce it "Lee-wuh'.I'm sure there are many more that I'm mis-pronouncing without realizing it, but I'm not exactly up to date with name pronunciations. Y'all are saying "lee" and "lay" and "lew"... but me, with my Norwegian origins, say "Leh-va", like the first part of "Lehvak". I'm also more of a "uu" guy than "oo" when it comes to "Tahu"."Bitil" is "bih-thil", at least for me. Vezok I pronounce "veh-zock" rather than "vay-zock". "Icarax" is "iih-car-ax" (sp?).

The only one I think I pronounce wrong is Lewa. LOO-wah just doesn't sound right IMHO.

I used to say "Loo-wa" and it became "Lee-wa" and stayed that way. I still say Vee-zon, but I'm saying Vay-zon too just as often. I pronounced Hahli "hall-hee" for a while, and my emphasis on Vakama and Nokama don't match, even though I'm pretty sure they're supposed to (vah-KA-ma and NO-kama).I probably still mispronounce others without knowing I'm saying it wrong 0_o

I pronounce 'Dalu' 'DAH-lu', and Lewa 'LEW-a', not 'LEE-wa'. Not much else I can think of, honestly.

On the day the wall came down / They threw the locks onto the ground

And with glasses high / We raised a cry / For freedom had arrived

On the day the wall came down / The ship of fools had finally run aground

Promises lit up the night / Like paper doves in flight

I dreamed you had left my side / No warmth, not even pride remained

And even though you needed me / It was clear that I could not do a thing for you

Now life devalues day by day / As friends and neighbors turn away

And there's a change that even with regret / Cannot be undone

Now frontiers shift like desert sands / While nations wash their bloodied hands

Of loyalty, of history / In shades of grey

I woke to the sound of drums / The music played, the morning sun streamed in

I turned and I looked at you / And all but the bitter residues slipped away

slipped away...
