BIONIFIGHT INFINITE

IC: Venix swooshed silently through the air, scanning the cliffs for anyone ascending them to fire on.

IC: Xaeraz stumbled back towards the exit, swearing violently as another bullet ripped through his lower body, and a third tore off a leg. He collapsed to the ground, clawing his way forward before triggering the wingpack mounted on his back, propelling himself awkwardly out of the dome, swerving to and fro in the sky as he began making his way back towards the pyramid.

"Kopen, Kale, I'm on my way back. I'm not sure who else survived. Zephyr's gone. Xara's gone. I don't know who else is gone. I'm sorry."

IC: Mirror Fishers stepped aside with a bounce in her step and gestured for the group to come in. Behind his desk, Maeus grinned his skakdi grin at the assembled group.

"Dreisen! I'm so glad you finally came in for your physical. But there's no need to bring friends with you for a simple check up, you know!"

IC (Albrecht von Armbrüster - Comfort Sector)

I settle upon the floor (I need no chair or cushion). Palms open, legs crossed, I close my eyes and allow my mind to drift.

"My dear," I say. "I wonder if this place shall be our doom at last."

Brünnhilde says nothing, but I understand.

"No, I will not refuse death when she comes at last to collect me. Yet... I will admit I'd hoped to die in grander fashion than as a lion in the arena. These games... what purpose do they play?"

...

"There lies some secret here I cannot yet fathom. The Gems hold some clue I cannot grasp. These pieces fit together in some way: the Queen, the gems, the entities beneath us in the maze... and these endless battles we are forced to fight."

...

"I think you're right, but I am not afraid. I will not cower from my fate. I have brought the hand of doom upon a thousand scores of men; it would not be fitting for me to flee from my own. Just as the King of Darek-Nui wept before I brought his end with your steel, thus proving he was unfit to sit the throne, so my fear would prove my own end."

...

"Never."

IC - Ilyin:

You know, walking around the comfort sector after that girl disappeared, I didn't expect to run into something weirder than her illusions. And yet, here was weirder.

"You know that hammer isn't talking back to you, right?" I asked the guy who was sitting on the ground talking to his hammer, one eyebrow raised in curiosity. "I mean, I'd hope you know that."

IC: Silvanni

So my plan worked quite spectacularly if you ask me, although the hands above had to spend an annoying amount of time bickering about dumb things and overall just delaying my fun. I hate those people I really do, but that's neither here nor there, and I'm positive that enough of people have listened to this dumb conversation already so let's leave all that behind. Like the Accell Song, the guy's a great Rider.

In other news my eyes that scouring the sky had recently taken note of an assailant in the air, cloaking magic being quite visible to my trusty eyes. Well to be honest, it wasn't entirely confirmed that she was an assailant, but I at least knew she wasn't one of us, and because the motto of better safe than sorry was still in play, I had Aeila give me her shield the moment I saw the threat, I also Uah'd her, just because I wanted to try out this nifty new mask, and because we needed all the help we could get when dealing with someone that high up.

Speak of the devil she was now charging up an attack, and my trusty eyes immediately gave me the trajectory. I got my shield into the proper position, only took about a second, and then told Aeila to make it immovable. Sure enough a second later a laser fired from the sky straight at my now immovable shield. Now here's a fun little science lesson for all you viewers at home. See lasers, upon contact with a reflective surface, such as metal, do partially what might be implied by term reflective. Yes neet, they get reflected. Of course the more astute little neets might be wondering why they can then burn through metallic surfaces, and that has to do with the fact that only a certain amount of the laser gets reflected and rest is absorbed as heat which will rapidly burn through the object. However, then pray tell, what happens when the metal in question is immovable, if it can't burn through, then the object is perfectly capable of a reflecting at least a fraction of that laser's energy.

Now, for one final science experiment, what happens when a guy who can see the trajectory of magic, takes note and positions that object to be capable of reflecting directly back to where it was shot from? This world might be a bit lenient on speed, but I figure a laser is still fast enough that if it went straight back it'd at least graze the caster. Keep in mind that this is a caster whose defenses have already been weakened. Personally I'd say it's just like playing billiards.

IC: Kopen - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Xaeraz was still there. Though the pain remained, the panic had calmed in his voice. It still did little to help her. "Xaeraz, what happened? Are you alright?"

IC: Virse - Central Field (Royal Blindside)

Will do.

The thoughts were barely out of her mind when Turbo went racing straight over her, dragging her ruined back half behind her. Xaeraz, in little better shape, went rocketing over her.

A large beam of light striking into the jungle also caught her attention. Either one of their Toa of Light or the... Rahkshi, Xara, survived. She was in no position to determine who it was, if she even could. Or someone was being shot at by the same thing that destroyed their fortress, and would not be coming home, but she hoped for one of the former.

I have three confirmed survivors. Turbo Vixen and Xaeraz are en route, both badly damaged, while another is in the sky, attacking or being attacked. I am approaching the fortress now.

Thankfully, the dead had long since been removed. It made things easier on her. She didn't have to see the devastation wrought by those guns, and it was much easier to tell who was alive. At a glance, no one else. She almost slid away in disappointment when a small box caught her eye. She remembered it belonging to the strange glowing Toa named Arkrax. A hole had been blown through one corner, but the fact that he was still here said there was life in him.

I have found Arkrax, though... no others survived. I will accompany him back to base.

Fortunately, the small box that housed Arkrax's consciousness wasn't all that heavy. Had he been a full Toa, she doubted she would be able to transport him in a timely manner in sand form. Instead, her grains slipped under the box and built up a small platform to buoy him across the uneven ground. With wounded in hand, Virse turned back to the Pyramid.

IC: Thaera - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Thaera was rather unsympathetic to Nisa's exhaustion. That, or he didn't notice it in his frustration. He went on rambling, most of it too low or too jumbled to hear. Even Io couldn't get a note in.

IC: Sesdec - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Upon the word "defense", Sesdec whirled the Polyhydra about him and spun off towards the front lines. His construct's skin formed a series of thick shields, ready to catch any early attacks. Though he could do but little to prevent harm to the vast throng directly behind, 'twas the noble thing to do.

IC: Glaive - Enforcer's Quest

Glaive attempted to flatten his blades to avoid injuring the large crowd of flesh elementals that had rapidly appeared around him. His neck strained, literally stretching upwards to glance at the sword.

IC - Yuri:

While Yuri was waiting for something that he could do, he slithered around in a small space, searching for a possible snack. There was, thankfully, a small bit of scrap iron lying near him - nothing that would be useful for anything else. "Mmm, good for to keeping my shell hard!" the snail's rumbling basso mental voice rang out, while his body thrummed rhythmically, the vibrations transmitting through the ground beneath him and into his allies' feet. After a moment he opened his mouth wide, the flesh around it stretching large enough to engulf a large portion of a Toa, before surrounding the scrap iron and pulling it further in. After a moment, sounds quite reminiscent of a chainsaw, a tool grinder, and an industrial scrap-metal shredder could be heard as Yuri's radula quickly destroyed the iron and transported it forther through his digestive system, likely frightening his teammates, all while his happy thrumming continued.

IC Tenjou - Royal Blindside - Arena Airspace

Light was quite fast. As such, the time between her firing and the time between it's reflection gave her little time to move. The beam of light streaked across her left thigh, taking a clean and small portion of it out as it passed, accompanied by a revolting sizzle and a string of wind muffled curses. How exactly that had happened was not something she could ascertain from her position. A quick look at her wound revealed her armor all over was rusty and weak looking, what kind of strange curse had been put upon her?

;Retreat, sister. Your attack was altogether too hasty and we have no idea what kind of abilities they possess;

By the time he had finished, she was already streaking back towards the Pyramid.

GM IC: DREISEN - MEDICAL BAY

Dreisen frowned as Fishers backed away and Maeus welcomed them inside. He shared a confused glance with Reezo before warily stepping into the room, clutching the handle of his wrench tightly.

"I came here to ask you a few questions," he said slowly, doing his best to make eye contact with the Skakdi. "The connection between Fishers and her Mech down in Engineering was recently severed - we did some digging and found out that you had been taking lives away from her and giving even more back in return recently. We suspected her to be dead... and our fears have only increased after seeing the line of ####### corpses outside your door!"

IC: Yoko

IC: Antiro - Medical Bay

Y'know that feeling when, even though you can't see them or hear them or anything like that, you still know that someone's standing behind you? It's a real spooky sixth sense, even more than the one that lets you see dead people, and where I was standing (which was a room full of dead bodies, for the casual reader), it was downright sinister. Half of me didn't even want to turn around for fear of what I would find; it was a fairly irrational fear, I know, seeing as none of the doctors had been killed by an actual weapon (did the Infinite System count as a weapon?)....

Still, though. Admit it.

You'd be pretty freaked out too.

Slowly, I turned around.

She was a pale blue Toa, her armour fashioned so that looked like some kind of tuxedo, accented by a top hat and clashing (or not clashing; Baria had always told me that I had the fashion sense of a colour-blind man) gold Komau. A cape swirled behind her, but there was no weapon in her hand so far as I could see.

"Who are you?"

IC: Yoko

"Hiraki Yoko. I was the pilot of the Sky Queen; I was with you in the dome. I assume you were killed by whatever hit us too?"

Yoko listened intently to the conversation between Maeus and Dreisen, keeping herself outside of the line of view of anybody inside the Doctor's office.

IC(Kalatin): Got it. If you could get eyes on the one in the sky, that would be good, but helping the wounded takes priority.

He broke off the connection and walked back into the control room. "Turbo and Xaeraz are badly wounded and coming back here, Arkrax is with Virse. Someone else is in the sky. Everyone else is dead." His voice became grave as he finished.

IC(A.D.): A.D. continued searching through the medical bay. Karz this place is a maze... He was now wondering if he could find his way out.

IC: Feli Gemshimmer (Arena, Cliff tunnels | Tahtorak's fist)

Feli tensed when she heard the sound of footsteps echoing in the tunnels. Someone was coming, so she prepared her mecha's weapons and moved towards the sound. Soon she saw a pair of strangers.

"Halt", her stern voice said through her mecha's opened vision slit, "Are you part of Halken's army?" She pointed the plasma weapon of her mecha at them, ready to shoot if needed. Of course, the enemy could lie to her, but she kept a close eye on their expressions. Liars were easy enough to spot most of the time.

IC: Taurus

Nobody here seemed inclined to explain what was happening. So many lives taken, but how? Nothing made sense here. Sighing, he decided to go back upstairs, as it seemed to be all some sort of arena up here. Exiting, he headed up to a... Okay, barracks? It seemed as if it was a resting place for soldiers. Or fighters... The dragon had said he was a fighter. What was that? Nothing made sense. Taurus sighed, and sat down on a nearby couch when... What? It seemed as though a battle of sorts was going on. Fighters... This was a gladiatorial arena, he realized. This was not his place! He was a Steltian Elite, the best of the best! Not some low class slave! Taurus felt rather offended, as his elite status normally did when he was not treated with respect. He continued watching the fight.

IC: Xaeraz plowed into the sand at the door to the pyramid, moaning in pain and agony as he began to slowly crawl back inside on his one arm and one leg. It would take him a long time for his mask to get him back up and running, he knew, but he didn't want to risk being out in the open while he was busy fixing himself. That was how you got killed, after all. Well, more killed. Ambushes do have a certain tendency to make things go poorly.

"Hey, Kopen. I don't suppose we have anyone who could carry me inside. I'd come in myself, but even I couldn't make this entrance look good."

IC: Nubbins tugged out his pistol, clutched it in two massive hands, and scanned the room, ready to shoot anything that made an attack and wasn't an Intavus, while a third arm reached up to grab his fourth one at the elbow. Just in case he needed more firepower.

IC: "Honestly, I'm a bit insulted you would imply that I would be anything other than civil," Maeus said, looking a bit hurt by Vagust's accusation. "But I don't suppose you know what killed those people? I was in this office all along, conducting an 'interview' with dear Fishers, here, and  I didn't hear anything outside."

GM IC: DREISEN/REEZO - MEDICAL BAY

"You're the only one who has accessed the Infinite System recently," Dreisen said, stepping forward and shrugging off Reezo's attempt to pull him back. "The Host is busy with the War Games; the Queen seems to have vanished into thin air; the Enforcer is off on some suicide quest; and I don't know who the morons in charge of the other sectors are, but they seem content to act as if they don't even exist."

He glared over at Fishers before glancing back to Maeus.

"But then... if you say you're not guilty, then I suppose you're telling the truth, right?" he continued, shrugging. "So you wouldn't mind if we... took a look around."

"Well, it'd be a little odd for them all to spontaneously suffer a heart attack or stroke and drop dead, all at the same time, wouldn't it?"

"Back off," Dreisen snapped, clutching his wrench even tighter. "I'm not letting you experiment on me, Maeus. I'm not some test subject that you can just stuff inside of a test tube. There are two ways this can go. The first is that you allow us to take a look around the Medical Bay - and I mean everywhere, including whatever you've built into your little basement level. The second is that you try to stop us and I beat you to death with my wrench."

IC: Kopen - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Kopen let out a soft and embarrassing squeak as something crashed to the ground not far in front of her. The mangled limbs, or what remained of them, reached up towards her, and she backed away against the wall, uncertain of what to do. What... it couldn't be...

"Hey, Kopen. I don't suppose we have anyone who could carry me inside. I'd come in myself, but even I couldn't make this entrance look good."

It was. "X-Xaeraz..." she gasped. The realization that the ruined creature in front of her was her friend gave her little comfort. It took her a moment to realize what he said, and even longer to try to understand. "Y-yes... of c-c-course... um..." she cleared her throat and tried to drag her focus away from him to the soldiers in front of her. "Is there anyone here who could... c-carry Lieutenant Xaeraz back to the Control Room?"

IC: Virse - Desert (Royal Blindside)

Virse tried to divide her attention between the airborne battle and the path in front of her, but it soon proved unnecessary. Her ally suddenly veered off in the direction of the Pyramid, and she caught a brief glimpse of pink armor. There was only one Toa she could remember that wore such a color.

Tenjou has broken from the battle and is now returning to base. Her status is uncertain. I see no others, Virse reported through Kalatin. She strained to keep her official tone. It had been so long since she had seen such a battle-torn group of her allies.

Her sand traveled into the desert until she determined it was safe. She took one last glance around, and then her sand piled up, gaining strength and color as it formed into her armor. Her mask flickered into darkness as she ran back to base, Arkrax in hand.

You rushed forward to scoop up what remained with the iron giant. "What the Ivan Ooze happened to you out there?"

IC Belitun - Royal Blindside - Interdimensional Space

A tiny *slice* popped up near the border of the desert and the jungle. A pair of eyes, scarcely visible against the bright desert background looked out of said slice in space-time. After the ambush at the special weapons spawn had occurred, she had left the grieving Kopen and the others in the control room. They needed scouts if they were to prevent another incident as such.

After several minutes of nothing, she pinched the rift back together and paced a couple meters through the noneuclidean wastes behind the wall to another spot. corresponding to some fifty meters distant in the desert, opening another hole to peer through.

"Shoulda asked Dreisen to include pain inhibitors..."

IC: "Oh, feel free to have a look around." Maeus said, gesturing to his office. "But, in the future, maybe try saying'please.' It works wonders, you know. And do be careful with my specimen jars. I don't really have the patience to replace them right now if they were to get broken."

Satisfied with a job well done, and yes neets, that's how you do actual work. Find yourself a job and be as awesome as me. Well that last part might be difficult, but please do try and stop being so boring. Anyway, satisfied with my work, I told the others to wait a little bit behind while I quickly ran up to the spawn, of course I still had Aeila's shield with me just in case some misfortune arose. Not that anything stood a chance of getting in our way considering that everyone else was long go.

Anyway, upon my illustrious arrival, I did the most logical thing for the situation. I kicked the spawn.

Kale Ironshaper- Blindside- Pyramid

IC: Plans flowed through Kale's head as information continued to come in. It seemed that they had lost most of the advance team, a significant collection of resources gone for the remainder of the battle.

That was too fast. We need to find out how they did it and figure out a counter. And some heavy artillery, that would be nice to have about now.

IC: Kopen - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Kopen followed after Xaeraz in a daze, but she didn't get very far when she heard Kale's voice. She shook herself out of it and walked back to the entrance to the Pyramid. "I need Dayeth to come with me to the Control Room," Kopen called.

IC: Virse - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

She didn't know how long the box had to live, and so Virse sprinted through the desert as fast as she dared. Even her sure feet faltered in the sand at such a pace, but she quickly pushed herself up and continued on. It wasn't long before the great forces of the Royal Blindside Army, though not as great after that calamity, appeared, and she raced through them and up the steps of the Pyramid.
