OOC: W-o-S, from what I and Lucina have both read, Taurus ran off to wherever AD had run off to, which isn't the entrance to the medical bay...which is where Antiro, Vagust, Dreisen, and Reezo are. Logically, he shouldn't hear them, except as anything more than just background noise, considering there are walls and such in the way, nor should he be able to speak with them.

IC - Vagust:

"Facility staff are tied into this system too?" Vagust asked, turning around. "And, of course, there's only one person in the immediate vicinity - we assume - who would be able to do this, and who we're already trying to find relating to some other death." Vagust shook his head. "Dreisen, if they offer to hire me, remind me to decline immediately. This sort of insanity is too much for me to deal with."

IC: Antiro - Medical Bay

Come out of the arena?

My hand automatically reached for my chest, fingers stretching and probing for a wound that wasn't there.

But I felt it. I know I did.

...

"Yeah," I said. "War Games. Shot by some ######. Shot. Even accounting wasn't that prickish."

I slid off of the table, eyeing the new Toa carefully. Not that I didn't trust him, but....

Well.

I just didn't trust him.

Still, he had answers.

"Now, what's this about an 'Infinity System,' if you don't mind me asking?"

IC - Vagust:

Vagust turned to the new guy, frowning. "Didn't you listen to the intro from the Host you got when you came in?" He asked, shaking his head. "I thought that explained it. It's a system of lives that is meant to make sure you behave and fight in the tournament, or go hunt gems, or do something to make the Host happy. If you run out, you die pretty spectacularly. All of us fighters start with seven. Facility staff apparently have one, and can be killed the same as us if somebody gets mad. Or goes mad."

IC: Antiro - Medical Bay

"I was a little too busy vomiting and trying to figure out what the ###### had just happened to listen to some voice prattle on," I grumbled, picking up my briefcase from where it lay on a stool next to where I'd woken up.

"So, we're dealing with some lunatic in control of this ... Infinity System?"

IC-Severain

Severain was just standing by, waiting for someone to come into his range, when he noticed Miras get wounded and fall back. Summoning his sword, he turned to the source of the shot.

"Who's there?" He called. "Show yourself!"

OOC

Severain interacting with... Well, whoever shot Miras.

IC: Taurus

"Calm down! What arena? What mad doctor? Who is fishers? And where the karz are we?" Taurus spoke in a calm voice, or as calm as it could be in the situation.

IC(A.D.): "Look, I don't have time for a big karz-backsided explanation right now. This is the medical bay. When fighters come out of the arena, they get healed here. The arena is where they die, if this mess isn't fixed." He gritted his teeth, breathing hard.

"And the mad doctor, who is in charge of this place, killed all of these people to cover up the fact that he killed a Matoran. One of the fighters. Like you and me. Now if you have anymore questions, find someone else to answer them. I could use some help killing that karzed doctor before he murders everyone else."

IC: Taurus

Well. This one was absolutely useless. Fighters? Arena? Although this doctor... He was bad news if he could slaughter all these people. But how? "Thank you for your time." He said formally, as a dragon could be bad to have as an enemy.

He needed to check the bodies again. What killed them? He hadn't seen any blood, so that ruled out direct murder. He headed back to the medical bay to inspect the staff. Air blowing out of his horns and being sucked in, he walked, all systems at work.

GM IC: MAEUS FO KURU - OFFICE

"I can do both," Maeus responded, a predatory glint in his eyes.

GM IC: THE QUEEN - QUEEN'S OFFICE

The Queen led Albrecht back through the portal into her office, nodding wearily.

"I must... dismiss you now," she said. "I am still... recovering my strength. Forcing the Mind Gem... to obey. It takes time... focus... effort."

GM IC: DREISEN/REEZO - MEDICAL BAY

Dreisen snorted derisively. "The Infinite System - certainly a convenient way to keep you all in line. It doesn't mean that the Host isn't an ###, however - and using it to control the staff is... ugh. Once we're through with this, I'm gonna throw my wrench at his face."

A hand on his shoulder courtesy of Reezo reminded Dreisen that he needed to calm down - if Maeus sensed any sort of emotional vulnerability, the Doctor would surely pounce on the opportunity to manipulate them.

"Let's go," the Toa ordered. "Let's find out what Maeus did to Fishers and see what he'll tell us about these corpses."

IC - Vagust:

"Lead the way, Dreisen, if you have any idea where to look," Vagust said, reaching back and retrieving the sword on his back. Dead bodies all around, an insane doctor, lots of other stuff...yeah, there wasn't any problem with having his sword in hand, he decided.

IC: Antiro - Medical Bay

As a politician, you learn how to deal with problems as they come to you.

Apparently, we had some madman using the Infinite System to murder doctors; that was a problem.

It needed to be fixed.

Tightening my grip on my briefcase, I moved to follow the rest of them.

IC: "Then, by all means, do both," Mirror Lytrel said before transforming back into Mirror Fishers. "Oh, but leave Dr. Bundy alive, please, doctor. I'm scared of losing him to your evil plans!"

IC: Dexund peered down at the assault on the beach, reaching out with his power once more. Slowly, the gains of sand began to twist and rise, forming into a large, brutish creature. The Kha-toa let out a groan of exertion from the effort and force himself to lay flat on the clifftop, but ordered his monster forward to attack the earthen rampart with a swing of its giant, hammer-like fist.

IC: Taurus

Dead bodies. Grimly, Taurus crouched down. Sure enough, there was no blood. Granted, using a hot blade could cauterize the wound... Taurus turned over the body. No entry point, and the body was not wet, so drowning was out. What if the amount of oxygen was lowered so they could not breathe? No, the dragon was still alive. And poison... Well, unless the food had poison in it, then the doctors would be alive. Also, it seemed others were alive.

So what caused this? There was no obvious answer. The medical bay may hold answers... Taurus thought to himself. Taurus continued on his way, gears whirring.

GM IC: MAEUS FO KURU

The Skakdi chuckled at the sight of Fishers and the replication of her speech patterns.

"I must say, she certainly makes for one of your most entertaining transformations," he said. "In fact, I-"

Knock knock

GM IC: DREISEN - MEDICAL BAY

Dreisen led his motley crew (Reezo, Vagust, and Antiro) through several rooms, where the various surviving medical staff members were scrambling around, trying - and failing - to revive their late coworkers.

They reached a door.

Office of Doctor Maeus fo Kuru

Pelko Itse Nouse

Dreisen knocked.

GM IC: MAEUS FO KURU

"Well, dear Fishers," Maeus said slowly, with a smile, "would you mind opening the door so that we might greet our guests?"

Vagust stood by Dreisen at the front of the group, sword in hand. Hearing a voice on the other side of the door to Maeus's office, he tightened his grip on his weapon, ready to use it in a heartbeat if it should prove necessary.

Hopefully he would have that heartbeat, if it proved necessary.

IC: "Sure, doc!" Mirror Fishers chimed gleefully, hopping out of the chair and bouncing over to the door. She pulled it open and grinned up at the assembled collection of toa (and a skakdi), then said, "Dreisen! how is Dr. Bundy doing? I hope he wasn't too hard to fix after that last battle. I was so afraid he would be when I shot his arm off."

IC Hryfon - Arma Virique - Cove Cliff Base

He practically dragged himself out of the water... Karzing Onu-Toa and his quake, couldn't they have picked anyone else to attack him? The shear cliff in front of him gave him a sense of vertigo, looking up at it. He swallowed hard, muscles tensing as he put weight on his ankle. If he used Ascalon as a walking stick, he'd be fine. The sheer absurdity of using an ancient god crafted spear, destined to slay the greatest of dragons as a walking stick was not lost on him, he laughed out loud.

;Psychic, I am at the cliff base. I believe I am safe from my former team here, so I will take the time to explain to you my powers. I am a Toa with the elemental affinity of Binding. One of it's facet is the creation of binding oaths, if I swear myself to protect or ally with someone I am unable to break such an oath on penalty of death. In addition to that, I have a mask that allowed me to woo Noroi and have entrusted with her a sheet of paper bound to a similar sheet I possess, anything writ upon it shall appear on the other piece. Using it, I can communicate directly with her. She sent me here to scout your team, but I have seen her army and tactics. They are pitiful. If you allow me to ally with you, I shall swear an oath to Halken and allow you usage of the bound paper to pose as me and contact Noroi. Surely you will be able to gain real time information through such a link. Of course, if I die or decide to break the paper's binding, it will be useless. Consider that my trade off;

IC Langmuir - Arma Virique - Jungle Stronghold

The first Strike Team seemed to have accomplished their initial plans. I had been watching the map at the time, keeping track of my squad's members positions when the CHLE rolled into firing range. What was displayed on the simple two dimensional map was a tight cluster of blue dots parking nearly a kilometer away from the central field. None of the fireworks translated to the map, but when the red dots in the center began to blink out, I breathed a sigh of relief.

The initial plans seemed to be going well. Our base was well guarded, the strike teams were accomplishing their missions. All I had to do was ensure the safety of our base.

Simple enough. Right?

IC Ezezko - Arma Virique - Jungle

Gods this was boring.

IC Oinez - Arma Virique - Jungle/Desert Border

Having found a nice tall tree, he'd climbed up into it and sat down to wait. He could see the pyramid reaaaaally far away if he squinted. Or maybe it was a mirage. Who knew. Hopefully someone'd show their face soon so he could use Sheer Heart Attack. His stand was silently seated beside him and the blood lust was practically oozing off it. It was more than a little spooky at times.

IC Tenjou - Royal Blindside - Special Weapons > Jungle Airspace

At this range, it was difficult to tell if her attack had hit. If nothing else, hopefully she had distracted one of the snipers long enough for the other team to take them out. A dead marksmen was the best sort.

;You're a marksmen too, sister;

"Quiet."

;...;

She smiled, turning back and flying towards the central field. What she saw quickly wiped any semblance of a smile from her face, the dome her allies had constructed was quite literally ripped to shreds by a hailstorm of projectiles. Several hundred meters above, she was lucky not to hear any screaming. She knew the attack couldn't have come from the desert, and as she had just been over the cove, it was unlikely to have come from there... The jungle was the only remaining possibility.

Gaining altitude as she approached the jungle border, she devoted more focus to her cloaking and began to search out the attack's source. Soon enough she found a likely candidate. A large machine of some sort far below, luck seemed to be on her side as the trees above were thin enough to permit a view. It looked like at least two fighters were riding on top of it. Perhaps more, at nearly a kilometer away (above, to be exact), exact details were hard to make out.

"What do you think?" She whispered into the wind.

;Patience, Sister. We'd best wait to show our hand;

Nodding in silent agreement, she drew her bow.

IC(A.D.): Seeing nothing in the main hallway, the dragon was now flipping open doors and making a busybody of himself. Most looked like what you'd expect - operating tables, examination rooms, some weird tube things that he remembered from the Host's message. His pace was becoming more frantic. He had to find Maeus or his evil lair before it was too late.

IC - Vagust:

"I'm sorry to interrupt the chit-chat," Vagust said before Dreisen might have a chance to reply in a much more coarse manner, "But we need to speak to you and the good doctor in the office there. Some rather strange things have been happening, and we're wondering if he might have any information to supply as regards the overall situation."

IC: Kopen - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Another voice broke in as she listened intently to the earpiece. She turned to Maccha, still futilely attempting to keep a calm, authoritative face. "Xaeraz... was attacked," she explained softly. "We don't know more than that. As a precaution, Kale is getting everyone ready to defend in case they come here."

IC: Mirror - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

He had found a place within the crowd, and was nervously shifting, endlessly polishing his Shard Lance. The last two rounds had not gone well for him, and he didn't expect anything better. He just hoped he could stay in the back and...

Attack. They were under attack. His slight nervousness slipped into a full-blown panic. He couldn't hide; they would just tear through his fellows until they reached him.

Whether or not death was permanent, he didn't want to experience it again.

IC: Thaera - Pyramid (Royal Blindside)

Some felt panic at the sudden announcement. It seemed the news had driven his companion to silence. But for Thaera, all it prompted was annoyance. "Oh, for the love of..." he groaned, and he dropped Nisa's hand. He found another nice spot of wall and fell back against it, dropping Io by his side. His arms folded, and he just grumbled incoherently for a while. "Just when things get interesting... just when things were actually getting good! And now they want us to wait all over again for an attack that may or may not be coming!"

IC: Xara - Royal Blindside Army - Medbay.

I heard Xaeraz's shout, followed by the sound of something big crashing through the undergrowth in the distance. But before I could even think to change my position to get a better view of it, the wall began to explode around me.

* * *

I woke up in the medbay. The special weapon I'd had in the arena was gone. And there were dead people all over the floor. "What the karz is going on in here?"

IC: The Puppetmaster - Tahtorak's Fist - Clifftop.

Interesting.... I will escort you through the tunnels, then. Activating his transmutation ability, The Puppetmaster's body evaporated into a cloud of grey ash that drifted down towards the bottom of the cliff, reforming into a solid form once he reached the bottom.

"You first," he pointed to the tunnel up ahead. The turncoat seemed to be earnest, but he wasn't dumb enough to turn his back on someone who had double-crossed his own team.

Elly looked up with a nod, as she took Nubbins' hand to help herself in standing up. "I'm... Alright." Elly said finally, and looked over at Astra with a frown. "Did you see anything?" Elly asked. The Toa looked over in confusion, and shook her head, which prompted Elly to frown. "Intriguing..." Elly mumbled, but took a deep breath, and was about to open up her mouth, when the chamber shook.

As the shaking stopped, Elly blinked, and looked around in as much confusion as Astra had shown since the odd sword reacted. The chamber they were in had miraculously changed shape and design. "Be careful..." Elly warned, as she looked around. "I'm not sure what's going on, but I don't think there's a good rhythm from it."

IC: Taurus

Taurus walked into the bay. All the dead bodies were the same. Strange.... No signs of fighting, poison, or any other sort of foul play, and yet... Death had claimed them all. What did they all have in common? The simple answer; they worked here. But how did they die? An audible amount of air blew through his horns as he became frustrated. Something had made their heartlights stop functioning... Taurus had to think on this. He started pacing around the medical bay.

"The karz is going on here?" At these words, Taurus turns around to see a... rahkshi (Xara) speaking. Interesting. It seemed intelligent. Speaking, he said,"No idea. I have no idea where I am, and these medics were all dead, though I can not seem to find a cause of death."

OOC: I would like to say again that I apologize for the mess last night. I've edited the Arkrax post, and he is in no shape to be counter attacking.

IC: Virse - Central Field (Royal Blindside)

As the sheet of sand that made up Virse crested the final dune of Blindside's desert, she froze in shock. There was a once-grand fortress of metal and ice where her allies had once sheltered, though one glance gave her little hope that any remained. The tall metal walls were shredded, and the small glimpses of the devastation inside made her feel sick.

Kalatin... she thought, though she struggled with even that much, There's... been an attack. I'm not sure if... anyone made it out. I'm going to try to get closer and look for survivors.

Xaeraz's voice had come through, but she could only hope at least he was still alive. The sand slipped up through the grassy field, virtually undetectable unless you were looking for it. Even as she crawled closer, another deafening salvo erupted from the treeline. Their opponents were not done with them yet. She would have to be careful to avoid adding her death to those within.

IC: Glaive - Enforcer's Quest

Glaive made no sign of wanting to get any closer to that blade. He lurked in the shadows towards the back of the group, eyeing it warily.

And then the very floor changed from beneath him. And yet, he was not even startled. Makuta illusions, no doubt. He had seen such changes before, but this Makuta was especially sloppy. His eyes never left that cursed blade, and he was ready to move should it get any closer.

IC: [Turbo Vixen, Royal Blindside, Field]

Gah...couldn't...couldn't feel her hindwheels. Or her hinge-arms. The way the end of her torso was dragging against the ground suggested they were gone entirely. Kind of...kind of felt like whatever that just was had bisected her...

She needed to get out of there and to do that needed less friction between the ground and whatever was left of her back half. Skids of metal appeared under what passed for her hips, propping her up enough that her front wheels could start pulling her along. Having all the force coming from only two wheels was reducing her speed, but she was still able to get a fair pace going. She had no idea how she was going to get across the desert but for now not being here was good enough

IC: [Venga, Tahtorak's Fist, Clifftop]

As his three squaddies hopefully went about the tasks he'd set them, Venga leapt into flight, getting airborne in the hopes a birds eye view would help keep track of the battle. Gliding along, following the storm's wind currents to aid his progress and trusting in the ugly mottling of the clouds somewhat matching his armour to keep him from being completely blindingly obvious, he was keeping an eye on the cove, watching for unnatural ripples in the water that would reveal hidden enemies.

"As you wish, my Queen."

I leave the room; the door shuts softly after I've passed through. The hallway passes by, but my mind is focused less on this and more upon the weapon that I hold in my grip. What new and dangerous things might I now attempt? It will surely give me an advantage in the games, but its psionic aid will be of use outside as well.

Like the Queen, my mind is not yet recovered in full from our trials in the maze. I move towards the Comfort Sector, where I'll find a place to rest and further meditate.

IC Hryfon - Arma or Tahtorak? - Tunnel Entrance

"Anything else I can do to set your mind at ease?" He had his spear in his right hand, held as makeshift walking stick. Not a good position to quickly attack from. The tunnels before them were a maze, combined with the natural strength of stone and their overwhelming ranged force, these guys had it pretty good. Maybe defecting to them wasn't such a bad idea.

IC Tenjou - Royal Blindside - Jungle Airspace

The machine below had attacked the center at a range of at least four hundred meters, she was at more than twice that distance from them now and had a decisive advantage. Such a huge weapon had to fire large ammunition, they probably packed a punch, but fired upwards they would have gravity acting against them. Not to mention her own speed, a significant amount of target leading would be needed if they were to hit her. In contrast, lasers had negligible travel time and required no lead in.

Dropping the cloaking for more available elemental energy, she quickly charged and fired a powerful laser at as close to the center of the machine as she could manage, letting herself slow for a mere instant to do so. Afterwards she accelerated back to top speed, drawing a wide and erratic circle above the enemy.

Y'know that feeling when, even though you can't see them or hear them or anything like that, you still know that someone's standing behind you? It's a real spooky sixth sense, even more than the one that lets you see dead people, and where I was standing (which was a room full of dead bodies, for the casual reader), it was downright sinister. Half of me didn't even want to turn around for fear of what I would find; it was a fairly irrational fear, I know, seeing as none of the doctors had been killed by an actual weapon (did the Infinite System count as a weapon?)....

Still, though. Admit it.

You'd be pretty freaked out too.

Slowly, I turned around.

She was a pale blue Toa, her armour fashioned so that looked like some kind of tuxedo, accented by a top hat and clashing (or not clashing; Baria had always told me that I had the fashion sense of a colour-blind man) gold Komau. A cape swirled behind her, but there was no weapon in her hand so far as I could see.

"Less strange in general would be nice," Aji muttered, before crying out and promptly punching three or four Invatusus (Invati?)- or at least attempted to punch them, more than likely being able to due to the extremely close quarters.

"Mata-Nui! Do you have any concept of personal space!"

IC: Nisaduf (Royal Blindside)

She just took things in for a while, frowning while Thaera ranted and people freaked out around her. Perhaps freaking out was too strong a word, but certainly nobody was all that calm.

"Apparently so," she replied absently, gazing off to nowhere in particular. It was one of those odd times where she felt oddly disconnected, like it was all just being viewed on a screen.

She yawned. Ah, that was why. The Pyramid was at a comfortable temperature, and Nisa hadn't really slept. Not enough coffee, she decided. Or adrenaline. That would wake her up quite well.

IC: Sevyn (Royal Blindside)

Sevyn frowned. That didn't sound good! Guess it was time to make some Healing Draughts.

He began to do so. This Bionifight thing didn't seem too hard so far, though it hadn't really been interesting either. Such is the life of a chef.

IC: Zakaro (Arma Virique, Strike Team B)

"I'll assume that's a yes, then!" Zakaro decided, the choice becoming absurdly easy as soon as something impacted his wall with a dense thud of sand of earth, and grains of both substances rained down over Zakaro's head. Shooting a grin at Zangah and Owethed- at least Zakaro thought that's what his name was- the Onu-Toa sprinted across the field, raising a light wall just for cover until he slipped into the relative safety of the cave.

"Alright! This is okay! Anyone object to rolling through these caves? If ya do, feel free to have fun with the snipers outside!"

They call me Zakaro. You should too.
