Personal Message Titles

Does anyone actually make their PM titles relevant to the message they contain?I'm posting this here because I just discovered that I usually don't.

Eh... since they usually only consist of one or two lines, "Hello", "Hi there" or "Greetings!" are my most commonly used headlines*sigh*now I wish my pms were more meaningful and important. xD

Well, I generally do, although they often go completely off topic (I have one PM convo called 'Reichenbach' which went from being about a BZPRPG character, to being about BZPRPG in general, to being about a particular BZPRPG player, to being about Area 51, to being about Kid Icarus: Uprising, to being about...). I know someone, however *Glares at what's-his-name [yeah, dude, I went there]*, who makes his titles pretty random. There was one about BZPRPG that he named 'Hurgflabuhgasterbuhg'.

Sometimes. When I need to be serious, the titles are formal and to the point. At other times, they can be humorously misleading for the reader.-Ced

Since 90% of the PMs I send out are all titled, "Signature Guidelines", I'd say they're pretty relevant to the content.

Most of mine do, but it's always very hard for me to think about a good title. Summing up something you're gonna write in just few words, when the entire message is something around 50 words, just to make an example, is very hard, IMHO. But that could be just me...

I don't really send personal messages. Of the few I have sent, the title is usually "Hey there", or some other greeting that doesn't look too impatient or demanding.

I've never sent gotten a PM on this new board. But on the old I often made mine long and tedious.

Yes, I always make it relevant. It's pretty pointless not to, especially when I communicate with people via PM for a real reason.

On the rare occasion that I send a PM to someone, I do put a title with it. Said title usually has something to do with what the particular PM contains in it.

Depending on the subject, yes. If I want to talk or say hello to a friend, I insert 'Hello'. Otherwise I say 'About [insert subject here]' depending on what the message contains subject-wise.

As staff, I'm required to start every PM with a startling and ominous subject line to set the Orwellian mood of the "I really like your sig" message.It makes me witty and clever.

99% I make them relevant. The only time I don't is if I'm raising your proto, then I'll just make it something crazy to throw you off the scent.

Usually, my titles are short and sweet descriptions of what's in my message. If I'm PMing someone about something BZPRPG-related, chances are my title will be 'BZPRPG' or something similar. The exception are PMs reporting rule violations. I usually try to make those titles interesting (Turakii can confirm this ).
