IC: The Wyrm - Team Muaka. 

 

He flicked blood from his blade and sheathed it across his back once more, moving back out into the street and starting to head back in the direction of the rest of his team. He kept his chameleon powers active, moving slowly and keeping to the shadows.

 

Going off on his own had clearly been a mistake; he'd grossly underestimated the abilities of the other contenders. 

 

It wasn't a mistake he was going to make again.

IC: To a creature of only half a life all food was much the same, full of flavour that a rotting tongue could not pick up. Not that Tuyetkhamun or any of her predecessors would have admitted that. As Empresses they had to show a taste for the finer things in life. To the latest of the Ptuyet dynasty the delicacies being served at the food court would have been no different to the swill served to pigs.

 

"This is acceptable," she said to Arkrax, "You have done well."

 

 

IC: "And I'd have preferred it if the first thing you did wasn't to hold a katana at my throat. So we can't have everything we want in life."

 

Venga started lightly tapping his fingers on the sword's blade, testing the strength of the fingers and hand that held it. He'd taken on toughness enough to resist the blade, but strength enough to not get sent flying by the sheer impact would be nice as well.

 

"If you so wish for combat then I believe our current employers have set aside areas specifically for such matters."

 

 

IC: (Olari, Team Tarakava)

 

Peering through the rooftop Okavaung, Aclaraung and Kale were currently using as their makeshift arena, Olari inspected the walls of the building itself with x-ray vision. Yes, it was as she thought. Full of pipes for plumbing, wires for power, rebar for support. Give whoever was creating these arenas credit, they did a thorough job of recreation. 

So as not to let the whole building collapse under her two allies, she settling with merely controlling the wires, having them snake and worm through the stone and brick of the building until they burst from under the enemy dragon. They lashed upwards at his arms, legs, torso, wings, doing everything they could to bind and ensnare Okavaung. Even if he could break free of Aclaraung's current hold, the wires would be there to keep him grounded, keep him pinned, anchoring him in place for a coup de grace to strike home

He spotted a figure up on a nearby rooftop and let his chameleon powers dissipate, stepping out of the shadows and waving to get the unknown being's attention. They seemed to be wearing a Muaka sash. Hopefully that wasn't a ruse.

IC: Vorzin (Team Tarakava)

 

Seeing all of the enemies currently engaged or dead, I pick up my pace, beginning to return to the meeting point.

 

IC: Miras (Team Muaka)

 

"The Tarakava appear to all be grouped together in a bunch; it would be a bad idea to attack with just the two of us," I say to Tanzah.

IC: Dayeth - Knowledge Sector. 

 

She walked into the knowledge sector and sat down at one of the desks, pulling on a headset and bringing up live camera feeds of the ongoing battle on the screen in front of her. She hoped that the coward who'd skewered her would die an equally painful death.

IC: Tarsus The Inquisitor - Arena (Team Muaka)

Tarsus silently followed Jorth up to the roof, tensing his muscles quickly as another contestant seemingly appeared out of nowhere. They began to relax, however, when he noticed that he seemed to be fighting for their team.

"Neat trick," he said warily.

"Chameleon powers," he explained, shouting across to the speaker, "camouflages me to match my surroundings." He clambered up the side of a nearby structure and jumped across onto the rooftop where Tarsus and Jorth stood. "Have you two encountered the enemy?"

IC: (Jorth, Team Muaka)

 

"Unless you count uppity dragons willing to inflict pain on what are supposed to be their our own side, then no," Jorth answered, "I've just been trying to corner off this little section so I have somewhere to fall back to if needed. You had any run-ins?"

"There was a metallic monster with the power to stop me from trying to hurt it." he muttered bitterly, thinking back. "It kept talking about pacifying me, whatever that was supposed to mean. I had no choice but to retreat from it."

 

He sat down on the edge of the rooftop, taking advantage of the reprieve from battle to rest and relax for a few moments. "Then I was attacked my some kind of creature that wielded a dart gun. It's dead now."

Tanzah only spotted the opposing team when Miras pointed them out. It was an effective tactic, he could give them that - one that could only be countered by likewise attacking in a group, which seemed unlikely.

"Yes, it would be unwise to do such a thing. However, it would be more than plausible to see if there are any people who have broken off from the group and attack them instead."

Kaipatu growled and settled with giving the creature a kick headed for his stomach.

IC: Dartakh (Arena, Team Muaka)

 

I stop, and look at the running, bleeding creature for a moment. "You're right", I say to the Toa, "She wouldn't be calling for help if she didn't know that there are allies nearby, or at least within hearing distance." I'm sure he can hear the frustration in my voice. I turn around, growl "Piraka! I wasted my Equalizer's charge for nothing!" and head back to our territory. What a waste of time and energy.

 

 

IC: Feli Gemshimmer (Arena, Team Tarakava)

 

She turned to look at the Toa who was in need of help. "I can heal your wounds, for I wear a Mask of Healing", she said with a friendly smile and approached her. "Can you please lie down so I can inspect your injuries? And don't worry, I've been trained to do this." She sheathed her greatsword and waited for her to follow the instructions.

IC - Okavaung (Mahri Nui, Team Muaka):

 

The frost dragon growled as wires ensnared his body and limbs. He could feel the presences of his master approaching him. Still, he could not help but marvel at the simple-mindedness of two-legs. This Av-Toa had already seen Okavaung track his mental signature once, and since then, he had even made an explicit display of his psionic abilities. That he still thought that rendering himself invisible would help him was amusing to no end.

 

As Kale was still taking up his position astride Okavaung's neck, he would find the thick, muscular appendage arching up and away from him, replaced by the laiikoan's face, suspended just out of reach of his sword, and breathing frost once more.

 

As his master landed atop him, he thought back, "I do not know about you, truhan, but I would not want a servant who gave up so easily."

The being who had cried for help, clad thankfully in a teal sash, reached Hound's group with a whisper of powerlessness. Tomo's hunters (OOC: making a bit of a snap judgement here, since it wasn't clear how far behind they were), weren't visible yet, but Hound could hear the reverberations of their conversation. "Alright, I'm going to need someone to get her back to base... I'll be the quickest. I'd recommend staying put unless you think you've got the advantage. I'll return shortly." Hound carried Tomo in the same manner as he had Riss, although this time the size of the target was large enough that his shoulders began sagging slightly under the weight, before straightening completely as his powers activated. With a nod at his teammates, Hound started sprinting back towards base and the healers. When he reached Feli or Zelnos, he would deposit Tomo and, if the healers suggested it, remove the swords before returning to the others.

Selaphiel had gotten quite a bit of energy back from that landing, although she was still far from full. She vanished wordlessly from her rooftop, dead eyes in mid-blink, before making her way over to where Okavaung fought. Assuming he survived whatever Aclaraung did to him, Sel would appear and try to replicate Prose's death, this time via a strike to the dragon's ribcage.

IC: Arkrax - Commercial Sector
 
His service had been accepted. The data elemental gave a curt nod and flashed back inside his box. There could be more beings in need of his assistance, but for now, he would remain with her. The Knowledge Sector would have to wait.
 
His box zoomed over a short distance from the plate and rested on the table.
 
 
IC: Virse - Commercial Sector

 

She eagerly took the pie and began digging in with her hands, shoving the delicious goop inside into her mask. She was so engrossed in the dish that all else seemed unimportant.

 

 

IC: Mirror - Arena (Team Tarakava)

 

He stopped short as the Makuta collapsed in front of him, unsure of how to respond. Thankfully, Hound took control of the situation. Mirror thought about stopping him and asking to take the Makuta back himself, but Hound was already gone. The creature would be faster anyway.

 

Mirror drew his Shard Lance and kept his eyes fixed firmly on the alley in front of him. He felt ready to fight at the slightest motion, though Hound's instruction and his own skill held him back.

I stop, and look at the running, bleeding creature for a moment. IC Langmuir - Muaka

Frustration was a good bit better than death and elimination from the round, at least, so far as I was concerned. We were in a tight situation now, all my prior experiences in battle pointed to there being some sort of enemy gathering further on. And while we needed to rush back to a safer area, traveling too fast would only leave us unawares, vulnerable to ambush by enemy vanguards that had pushed ahead as we had.

 

So I follow behind Dartakh by several paces, keeping my eyes and ears focused on my surroundings. I try to construct another trio of swords, but only one appears, leading me to remember that two had been stuck in the titan. Even at range, I was able to absorb the elemental energy used to construct them, I did so.

Swords will have vanished from Tomo's body. Possibly causing bleed damage.

IC - Aclaraung, Tarakava:

 

"By now you're already beaten," the larger Dragon growled mentally. "You didn't retreat when you had the chance so that you could regroup and fight again, and now you've little choice but to submit."

 

Aclaraung's hind legs pinned down Okavaung's hind legs, just as he used his wing-arms to pin Okavaung down at the shoulders as well. Careful not to harm either Kale or Selaphiel, he lunged forwards, his dagger-like teeth reaching to tear through the scales of the frost dragon's neck and rip out his trachea, hoping to end this short skirmish once and for all.

On his way to the Training sector, Ignis passed the Dark Toa that had Killed him in the arena. "This isn't over..." He hissed out the side of his mouth.

IC: Maglev/Comfort Sector --> Training Sector

Feeling invigorated again thanks to that Rahkshi, I had to use that energy for something, but first I must record what I have seen. I found a notepad in my room and began jotting down stuff.

• Sentient Evolved Rahkshi - Future Threat(?)
• Perhaps some Rahkshi can be converted to our side. Mind control/Genetics Research nessecary to know for sure.
• Weird creature (Note: Find out what it is) has power to stop things in midair through telekinesis(?) or something else.
• Toa with implants, must learn what they are. They seem primitive but functional.

Once I finished, I began to jog over to the Training Sector.

Halmos simply gave a disrespectful snorting noise at Kotak. This one had no decency at all.

 

As they walked, Halmos took his eyes off the pair for a second to look at the map on the inside of his coat.

Metal and demanding pacification? Was that a Vahki? Jorth had encountered something that looked very much like the nightmare golems of eldritch clockwork that were the Vahki from his universe in the first round, helping out the shadow-bot. Apparently it had fared slightly better against this fellow than it had against Dayeth.

 

"Don't think I ever got your name. I'm Jorth." he'd let Tarsus introduce himself, it would be rude to do his talking for him no matter how much of a "silent type" vibe he radiated

 

 

IC: Venga jumped backwards, long Rahkshi limbs propelling him clear of the kick. Should have tried a knee to the gut instead of a full-blown kick, big guy, it was faster, simple and less telegraphed. And it wouldn't let him do this...

Venga swung one of his hands in an uppercut, aiming to bat at the foot that had been raised off the ground for a kick. If he managed to knock it upwards like he intended then the sudden change in his momentum combined with the weakened positioning from being on one leg should result in him toppling backwards onto his rear. Not threatening, but certainly humiliating

 

 

IC: Tuyetkhamun wiped away a smear of half-chewed food that was seeping from the fleshless maw uncovered by her broken face.

 

"Are there more creatures like you here?" she asked of Arkrax, "You are adequate but I am accustomed to having more servants."

 

 

IC: (Olari, Team Tarakava)

 

With the beast ensnared by her woven wires, and under heavy attack from her teammates, Olari saw no reason to step in with any grand masterstroke of her own. One of the three Tarakavas attacking Okavaung would bring him down sure enough. So she was content to merely increase the constriction of the wires, having them wrap tighter, hold faster, squeeze harder. The less he could move, the less he could fight back...

"My species do not have names. We have other ways of identifying each other." He explained, regarding the being calling itself Jorth with an expression of curiosity. "However, the Vortixx I fight have given me a title: The Wyrm."

But as the hand approached his foot, he slammed it down, aiming to smash his hand on the floor.

I could hear no other presences besides myself, and so I returned to where we spawned the way I came.

Zelnos kept his expression impassive when the Hound brought the injured makuta to him. Just because his a makuta... he might not be like Tridax... where on the same team...

He pushed all other thoughts to the side and began healing the makuta. (Tomo)

"Noroi Shiru." The titanic being introduced herself, giving what looked almost like a very faint bow. She straightened, regarding both of the Av-elementals from behind her helmet. "I find your... bow's... communications to be unobjectionable, miss. It has my permission."

Hound's explanation was helpful for some, like that guy Mirror, but they were common sense to me. I breathe deeply, settling without much thought into a plow stance. My blade angles up beside me, my muscles tense and ready. I breathe again. A grin crosses my face, I can feel it, as my heart starts pumping. I can hear my opponents, the muffled sounds of their approach growing louder, and sense the specter of battle behind them. 

 

I may hate this tournament, but if it doesn't get my hot blood flowing.

"Urk... Thanks..." As Zelnos patched the last of the holes up, Tomo got to her feet, standing a bit woozily, before leaning on a wall. "Those two... One of them did something; I can't use my powers. I'm stuck as a guy... And looking like Teridax... Hopefully it wears off."

I feel... sick... the Queen managed, broadcasting the thoughts once more as she stumbled back towards Xaeraz and Kopen. I... do not know if this... is physical, or of the mind....

She smirked at the Queen's desperate message and lay back against the wall. Even if she wanted to help, she would be of little use.

 

Serves her right. Maybe we should just leave her. Can't say this place would be any worse off without one massive ego...

 

"Face it, Xaeraz," she called up. "You can't help her. You try to go in there, and you'll just end up on the floor alongside them."

The box beeped and flashed, and suddenly Arkrax was sitting beside the mummy.

 

"My data records ~ none ~ like me," he buzzed.

Even as Kopen finished speaking, the Queen fell to a kneeling position beside her and Xaeraz, remaining silent for a moment as she recovered both her breath and her wits, the symptoms of sickness fading away. After a full minute, she turned towards Kopen.

 

You, Matoran, will experience what I just did, the Queen demanded, turning to Xaeraz. Pick her up and go ahead - I shall use my powers to protect your mind. If you are still affected, then we are dealing with something else entirely. If you remain fine, then I would suggest you continue forward and retrieve whatever waits for us up ahead.

She smirked again at the Queen, though she clawed her way back a few bio just to be safe.

 

"You can't make me go in there," she sneered, though there was a hint of panic in her voice. "You can barely stand, and Xaeraz wouldn't drag me in there for no reason! I'd only get in his way! I've had enough of this stupid quest! Whatever's down there, I don't want it!"

;Allow me to introduce myself, I am Tenjou Emiya. My sister is the Av-Toa you are speaking with. It is a joyous occasion to meet you m'lady of the armor;

 

If it was possible for a disembodied voice to speak with a tip of their hat and a bow, this one was certainly doing so as he spoke with Noroi.

 

"Forgive him if he gets mouthy. He was quite the brakas in life." With that, she ascended to a proper s outing altitude. Cloaking herself in a veil of refracted and reflecting light. To the naked eye she would be close to invisible.

 

IC Ezezko - Tunnels

You continue probing the darkened tunnel with your mask's power. Waiting for the narrator to say something about you succeeding and/or wasting your time .

IC: Nisaduf (Commercial Sector)

 

As her world materialized around her, Nisaduf nearly quivered in excitement. Scratch that, she did quiver in excitement, bouncing in place grinning as the Host's automated message played out. As soon as it was finished, though, the Fe-Matoran was practically skipping around, eyes wide and smile threatening to take over her face. This was it! Her chance to meet her heroes, get to know them, and maybe even become them! She wiggled in joy, already scheming how to best secure both signatures from every single person in the tournament and at the same time figure out which of her heroes would be best to become. 

 

Springing over to the viewing screens, the little Matoran attempted to get as close to the picture as possible, which resulted in her nearly toppling over a railing as she perched on it, eyes focused on the action. Even while she watched, she continued to bounce in place, muttering to herself random facts about whomever the screen was focusing on at the moment, at least when she knew who they were.

 

It was debatable whether the more surprising thing was the number of fighters she knew or the number that she didn't. It was pretty close, all things considered.

 

OOC: Nisaduf open for interaction, though I'll probably go looking sometime tomorrow in any case.

As he probed, Ezezko would discover that the sickness itself appeared to be a defense.

[Well, the sickness appears to be a defense. It's hard to explain, but when viewing something with my mask on, I can see if it is defensive in nature or not. The sickness is so. I could likely weaken it, though I'd be unable to predict any side effects. The sickness could be protecting the gem from something else down here for all we know.]

The Toa of Plantlife whistled as he traversed through the corridors, looking for the gym.

GM IC - ARENA - THE BUBBLE BREAKS
 
With a groaning noise and a crash, the multitude of attacks that had been pounding the bubble finally took the toll that many of the fighters had foreseen. With a crash, a hole began to expand in the side of the bubble closest to Team Muaka. At the other side, however, fighters of Team Tarakava had also attacked the bubble, and the first hole weakened the bubble just enough for a second one to form. Now, water began cascading into the city, rushing through streets, destroying everything in its path as the bubble gradually disappeared.
 
Certain fighters were, no doubt, able to survive the flood. Others were not so lucky. From Team Muaka, Virnar, Silvanni, Zephyr, Ferronox, Omega, Glass, Daedalus, Kopeyku, Sidonas, and Navuru were swept away, crushed, drowned... while Onuvo, Xira, Raith, Daltrahk, Iskane, Limos, Evix, and Vakax fell from the ranks of Team Tarakava.
 
As for the remaining contestants, they would find in very short order that the mutagen present in the water would be taking effect, rendering them capable of breathing water. The mutagen also slightly increased visibility for the fighters, most of whom would otherwise be blind in the deep-sea darkness, though even with the mutagen in effect visibility would be significantly lowered. Third, the mutagen allowed the fighters to speak in such a way that they would be audible even through the water, for communication is the most important aspect of team rounds.

 

These boons allowed them to survive initially. However, the ocean was still finding its way into the city, so danger was still very much present.
