IC Velix:

The drone kept on coming: Even with its bent blades it sliced through its armor. Velix sighed, as his world went dark.... Well, darker then it was, anyway.

Now the Toa was above him. Quickly flinging a knife upwards at her hip joint, the hammer caught his left shoulder and sent him to the 'sea' floor with a presumptuous thud.

Groaning, Halmos picked himself up off his face to continue the fight.

IC(Ismekne): Ismekne took advantage of her opponent's movement, following up with a warhammer aimed straight at her opponent's mask.

IC Halmos

Wasn't the idiot standing right there going to help? Whatever. The knife apparently had missed her hip, but the warhammer to the face was way too predictable now. Dodging to the right, he jutted a crystal from behind her while catching her attention by reeling back his arm to throw a throwing knife.

IC: Donrioda

Donrioda gave one final push, one final, Kakama-boosted push, before the world went black.

She opened her eyes, and found air in her lungs. Air, and not a scratch on her. She heard the hum of Lil' Blendy, and she could only assume the drone was fully repaired as well. She sat up, and blinked. Did she kill the other Toa? Did she actually succeed? Donrioda slowly touched her shoulder and nech, where the blade was.

Not a scar, scratch, or anything. At least she could fight in the arena without worrying about being truly hurt.

At least, that's what Donrioda hoped. She still had to be more careful. Less reckless. Being reckless got you killed.

And being killed was bad.

IC Maccha Yellow! - Tarakava

What fancy special effects! You gawk at the technicolor, expanding, laser-spike shooting rings on your opponents. Before turning your eyes to them. A Ko-Toa and a Vo-Toa.

Piece of cake. Your legs coil up beneath you, "MACCHA JUMP!" And explode like that of a tiger, carrying you towards the halberd-wielding Ko-Toa. Jikan Blade slashing downwards in a glittering arc.

GM IC: A.D. - KNOWLEDGE SECTOR

As the dragon opened up the public files on Elittra, this was what he found:

[ELITTRA]

[POWERS: ELEMENTAL CONTROL OVER LIGHTNING, KANOHI KAKAMA]

[WEAPONS: SPECIALIZED BOW]

[HISTORY: FIGHTER HAS FOUGHT IN THREE PREVIOUS TOURNAMENTS. BATTLED AGAINST ZAKARO IN FIRST TOURNAMENT - TIME SINCE THEN FOR BOTH FIGHTERS SUGGESTS CHANCES OF EITHER REMEMBERING THE OTHER ARE MINIMAL. QUEEN NOTES SOME SORT OF LINK BETWEEN ELITTRA AND FIGHTER ARTORRE; NEITHER FIGHTER AWARE OF CONNECTION AT PRESENT; QUEEN UNABLE TO ACTIVATE CONNECTION, DOES NOT BELIEVE FIGHTERS CAN. NOT A THREAT AT PRESENT TIME. ELITTRA HAS NO HISTORY WITH OTHER FIGHTERS OF INFINITE TOURNAMENT AT THIS TIME.

FIGHTER WAS CHAMPION OF HER THIRD TOURNAMENT. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT FIGHTER SPENT HER YEARS BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD TOURNAMENTS TRAINING AND PARTICIPATING IN A WAR; SKILLS TRANSLATED WELL TO BIONIFIGHT SETTING. RECENT RESEARCH SUGGESTS FIGHTER HAS SPENT MOST OF HER TIME SINCE THIRD TOURNAMENT ADVENTURING; COMBAT SKILLS HAVE SUFFERED AS A RESULT.]

That was all the file said - and, judging from both the references to the Queen and the formal style of the report (something that the Host seemed incapable of), it would be fair to assume that it had been written by the Enforcer.

GM IC: ELITTRA - TRAINING SECTOR

She stalked into the training sector, arming her bow immediately and firing a bolt of lightning that hit a test dummy across the room in the center of its chest, leaving a black scorch mark upon the white surface. A thin trail of smoke drifted into the air as she swung around in a complete circle, firing another bolt at it. This one missed; it flew right past the test dummy's head and hit one of the lit-up signs on the wall reading 'available', shorting it out.

Her frustration growing, Elittra glared around the open area, searching for one of the virtual training environment rooms.

As he scanned the room, he took note of a couple beings deep in discussion. A... Bandage, covered being? Alongside a slightly more normal looking toa, clad in black and silver. Perhaps a Severing elemental?

Putting the dragon out of mind, the Se-Toa wondered over to their table and seated himself.

"Hello."

GM IC: THE QUEEN'S QUEST

The Queen paused, motioning for Von Worten and Albrecht to halt as she turned back towards Xaeraz and Kopen with a sigh.

Wait here, she ordered. Hold our connection.

She walked back down the tunnel, slowly extending a mental shield out to the other members of the group. Xaeraz, Kopen, Ezezko, Nocton, and Lytrel would feel the presence of the three psionics users enveloping their minds like a bubble. As this occurred, the Queen knelt down on one knee a few feet away from Xaeraz and Kopen.

"Kopen, you need to come with us," the Queen said, speaking aloud. "We have no idea what might find you in these tunnels, and anything that can fool three psionics users with an illusion should not have their demands challenged so directly. We will use caution and subtlety to overcome this foe."

Both Von Worten and Albrecht, connected to the Queen's mind intimately, would almost instinctively know that the Queen was not confident in what she was saying - but the other members of the group would not detect anything out of the ordinary... not even Kopen with her hearing.

IC: Halken groaned in considerable pain as the tail slammed into his back, but he had to help his comrade from this ferocious beast! He tightened his grip and brought his own feet up, trying to grab onto Wyrm's thrashing legs and restrain them using his own claws. He hated every second of this ungentlemanly combat and resolved to apologize to this beast after the round was over, assuming it was actually a competitor and not a rahi who had simply eaten one.

IC: "You never stay in the cheap seats when the band's got open ones down closer," Riss playfully chided. "They probably all went in to find a fight! I just wish we'd had a chance to put our strategy to work before someone broke the bubble," she sighed, slowly spinning her stand around.

"So! Got any old friends here you're looking forward to seeing again?"

IC: Kopen - Queen's Tunnel

She turned her attention back to the tunnel as she heard footsteps returning. It was the Queen. There were no threats. No insults. Not even a harsh voice sounding through her mind. Her face was inscrutable. To a small Matoran who may have just made a terrible mistake, the effect was terrifying. She tried to boldly stand her ground, but she found herself slowly shifting backward against the tunnel wall.

The Queen of all that is High and Mighty knelt down to her eye level. Kopen didn't dare to breath. The anticipation was nearly worse than whatever punishment was sure to follow. But it would be better than dying in whatever terrible way awaited her.

Then... the Queen spoke. Actual, verbal words. There was no malice or intimidation behind them. They almost sounded... caring. Despite all that had happened between them on the way, the Queen was actually asking for her help to continue on. As if her mere presence would actually mean anything against a psionics master. So far, all she had done was cause trouble. Her limited skill set would be of little use compared to beings who can form blades out of bad memories or manipulate gravity itself.

But her curiosity was piqued. What kind of danger would cause this sudden change in the Queen? Why was she so insistent that Kopen come this entire way, through the constant stream of degradation and poor decisions? It would be dangerous, but now she had to learn the answers for herself.

She just had one question to ask. "Why should I trust you? You've been trying to get rid of me this whole time!"

GM IC: THE QUEEN'S QUEST

The Queen shook her head as it buzzed, the mental shield slowly strengthening around the various members of the quest. She took a moment to formulate her reply before speaking to Kopen again.

"If nothing else, trust the fact that you do not trust me. Trust in the fact that right now, we both share a common goal with the rest of this quest - to locate the Psionics Gem, take it, and return to the facilities to recover. It was my choice to bring you on this quest, and while you have done your best to make me regret it, I have yet to feel that. You are a mere Matoran, Kopen. To top it all off, you are blind. I know that you are not to be underestimated... the fact that you were selected for this tournament shows that. But our enemy, whoever they are... I feel that there is a chance they will underestimate you."

Slowly, the Queen stood to her feet.

"This being operates on the mental plane just as I do. They will perceive Von Worten, Albrecht, and myself as the most dangerous targets - not someone like you. And that in itself makes you one of the most valuable members of this team. You can either stay here or come with us, Kopen. I leave the choice up to you. But while I may not be able to guarantee your survival if you journey forward with us... I feel that your chances alone in these tunnels are far worse. At least we have some idea of what we will be up against."

Having said her piece, the Queen turned to walk away, hesitating for a brief moment just in case Kopen - or Xaeraz - had something else to say.

IC: "...Y-your voice is, is, is, uh, is a lot n-nicer than y-your thoughts make it, ah, it sound," Xaeraz stammered out at long last, immediately regretting having ever reconstructed himself as soon as he finished his sentence. He got awkwardly to his feet and held his hand out to Kopen to help her up, if she chose to stand and continue on, and deliberately avoided eye contact with the Queen.

IC: Kopen - Queen's Tunnel

She didn't know what to say. Every judgement she had formed of the Queen was dashed away in a few sentences. Just the fact that they were actually spoken aloud, at eye-level, seemed momentous. And was the Queen... complementing her?

It would be safer to remain with the group. It was a chance to prove she was more than just baggage to be tossed aside when it became inconvenient. Truly, forward was her only way out. But that wasn't what made her take Xaeraz's hand to rise to her feet. It wasn't what drove her to continue on, following in the Queen's footsteps down the tunnel. The courage in her words, "I'm coming with you," could not be traced back to mere survival.

She had a mission to complete. And if someone could still put up with her after her every attempt to drive them away, well... that was someone worth following. Even into the great danger that would await them.

IC: (Olari, Team Tarakava)

From outside the tight cluster of thrashing and straining that was Halken, Hound and Wyrm, Olari had a decent view of the other attacks coming. She dealt with Tarsus' first, stopping his metal projectile dead in its tracks with a magnetic field...and then using that same field to send the orb hurtling right back at Tarsus. She was surprised to see he'd survived having two walls collapsed on him, clearly he was tougher than she thought. Dealing with is own redirected missile should keep his busy for now though, until she could put him down for good.

But until then there was this newcomer to deal with. From the frothing and bubbling around his swords it looked like he was trying to set them on fire, and as that was an obvious waste of energy in a realm of water, it had to be some property of the swords. Which meant it would be harder for him to stop them when she did this:

The path of the swords suddenly slowed, decelerating as Olari tried to pull the same trick she had on Tarsus. But she was having trouble redirecting them outright so, assuming it was the Toa's will acting on directing them countering her elemental manipulation, began increasing the power of her magnetic field, trying to drive the swords back at Langmuir with the brute strength of her will

OOC: To the best of my knowledge, sodium is magnetic of sorts, reacting to externally applied magnetic fields by becomign attracted to them. Olari's power is pretty external so I was assuming it would work

IC: "Or it relies on braggarts being unable to keep their mouths shut," Tuyetkhamun said, "Or victors being flush with success and wanting others to hear of their great adventure. Or the rumour mill being more accurate than normal. It...has some flaws," She squirmed slightly, clearly begrudging having to admit the great intelligence of the God-Queen of Ma'ata Nui might have overlooked some details, "We will simply have to be clever about who we target and focus our efforts on."

IC Maccha Yellow! - Tarakava

A quick twist of your wrist and a hop back frees you from the lock and spares you the ice spears.

You pause to reassess your opponent, blade held at the ready all the same. A polearm, no. An axe with an adjustable haft. Meaning that getting inside his effective range could be counteracted. A difficult conundrum.

For a regular man.

Taking a hand off your sword, you bring it back and punch the air, no, the water in front of you. The movement creates a crashing noise and an obscuring cloud of golden smoke and azure sparks. Would he expect something as stupid as a charge directly through such a cover? Hopefully not! Because that was your next move, another leaping charge and slash.

IC Langmuir - Muaka

Resistance, the blinding arc of my makeshift torpedoes is slowed by an unseen force. I glance about, perhaps that turquoise glow in the distance? Regardless, a little resistance is not an issue. The swords had been propelled solely by my mask, I use the vestiges of my elemental powers to add force to them, counteracting the resistance.

Perhaps it was too late now, but the thought crosses my mind that nine kilos of explosives may have been... Overkill. Even at this range, the water will transfer the shock wave with deadly efficiency, and all too late I realize that I am likely in it's effective range.

The struggle cost me valuable time, the deadly arrows sprinting through the runaway process of dissolution and explosion, three.

Two.

One.

Showtime.

"Can't say there's anyone in particular that I'm looking for, although it might be nice to see someone from a previous round. Once met a really cool guy who was pretty good with hardlight, think he called himself some number," Zakaro replied, smiling to himself. With a quick application of Earth, a crystal sunk into the muck while the mud rose and solidified to meet it half way, forming a half-decent hill that would be easy to walk over in comparison to trying to scale the smooth surface of the crystal itself.

"Might be a few others, but not off the top of my head. I mainly look forward to meeting people each tournament and starting things over again, it's fun enough."

IC: Mirror - Med Bay to Knowledge Sector

The sudden transition between breathing water and breathing air again was... jarring, to say the least. As Mirror suddenly awoke with head cleared and injuries healed, he struggled to keep his breath under control. He just waved away the few doctors that seemed to believe he was having some sort of attack.

The moment he was calm, he was immediately searching for his blade. There, right next to the bed. The perfectly reflective surface was stained by strange blood and scarred from crashing into buildings in the current. His hands shook desperately as he picked it up, then found his polishing tools.

The Med Bay seemed a poor place for such a task. Mirror slowly wandered out with eyes fixed on his Shard Lance. He had been waiting in the Knowledge Sector before. It was quiet, and he could learn a bit more about this place there. Perhaps Langmuir would find him there as well.

Speaking of the Toa of Blades... a huge screen caught his attention in the halls. It depicted one area of the city where his killer and Hound were grappling through the water. Toa and a Skakdi surrounded them, trying to gain the advantage for their team. And behind it all stood his ally in a yellow sash, preparing a set of smoldering blades. Mirror stopped, fixated at the spectacle. What was he going to do with those?

Combined with her elasticity, she hoped it would startle whatever was controlling these leather straps and loosen their grip.

IC Maccha Yellow! - Tarakava

He's fast!

You're forced to dodge roll sideways, cancelling the attack animation of your sword. Why the karz hadn't you chosen to take a ranged weapon with you?! Your Maccha Blaster would be preeetty useful right now. As it stands, you're being reset to step zero by every halberd parry.

The slightly slower movements in water should theoretically make it easier to parry his blows as well, so, raising Jikan Blade in a defensive stance, you begin to advance. If you can get to close range you can activate the weapon's SFX and finish him...

Ice spears work pretty well because of the kinetic energy behind them. Ice moving at a slowish pace, like some stalagmites for example, don't hurt so bad. Ice doesn't hold that much of an edge. So instead of being speared, your lifetime of experience doing your own stunts allows you to balance on the jutting icicles, leaping off of them with a cry of, "MACCHA FRONTFLIP!" And twisting through the air, landing right behind the Ko-Toa.

Now you're up in his face, well, almost. You need to be a little bit closer due to your blade's middling length. But that was enough actions for one turn.

A massive shock wave ripples through the water, true to the Fe-Toa's guess, he was in it's range.
