IC:

I froze mid-snoop.

"Our luck," I whispered through quickly-gritting teeth, "cannot possibly be this bad."

IC: Falcon - Wailing Cliffs.

"Are you kidding me?" he groaned, confused as to how their several hours of remaining daylight had vanished over the course of one sentence, "I guess we've got to find a way inside, then."

IC: Dartakh (Hallways)

Dekako, as they wandered, heard someone speaking loudly behind them. "Hey, you giant lizard thing! I'm going to ask you something!" The shout was coming from near the entrance to the library. The voice was quite deep and made the shout sound like a bellow. They could also hear steps as the shouting being approached. It stopped some distance away. "Do you happen to know where I can find some nice booze? You've got a nice tail by the way, hahah.." The being wobbled slightly and struggled to remain standing. "Oh, piraka, maybe I am drunk."

IC: Dekako - Hallways.

We turn and glare at the strange individual. "You're definitely drunk," we assure him.

IC: [Jorth - Training]

"Maybe you should have a lie down," the Toa of flesh suggested, "When was the last time you slept?"

IC: Miril - Training Sector.

"Last night."

IC: [Olari - Engineering]

"Sorry about this. Our new psychic was insistent we leave now. Given Xara also seemed to be champing at the bit to do something I thought it best we go ahead and leave sooner rather than later."

Hopefully they had food that could actually be boxed and carried...

IC: Xara - Engineering Sector.

I picked up a couple more pieces of fruit and got to my feet. "Ready to go."

IC: [Olari - Engineering]

The scouting team was all together. Virse, Xara, Zakaro, Olari herself, and their new psychic friend. Time to head out and take step one if making a difference.

"We can cover ground faster if I give everyone a lift." Well everyone except Xara. The Rahkshi could fly on her own accord, a useful set of second eyes keeping watch on the skies. "Virse, could you recognise the route by air?"

IC: [Tuyetkhamun - Knowledge]

"And what exactly would you do, Rahkshi? Run out there, powers flashing, weapons blazing? You'd be dead in seconds. Most likely those cultists would pick you off before you got anywhere near them. You clearly don't have the fine grasp on strategy that I do." She looked at Draco as though he were a simple child, or perhaps something she had just trodden in, "This is why you need someone like me around, as plans are clearly not your forte."

IC(Ismekne): "Let's count." the Toa said, lowering the water-spout and then raising it up again, giving the ceiling another impact with a considerable gasp for air, panting. "I was just here to find out some quick and trendy information about this place. Apparently Mr. Virus Cloud here thought I was his latest experimental test subject, which he can go to karz for. Then Mr. Robot thought I was a problem just because I wanted to talk to Lady Sairus and find out what was up, and when I tried to shut him down for being an insensitive jerkass, he gave me a busted shoulder and knocked me out."

"Then we have the beast over there who thinks I'm an easy meal, and then there are all these other people here for whatever reason that ordinarily I'd be just so happy to meet. Unfortunately, they think that I'm a problem, that I cause chaos and destruction. Well they can GET IN LINE! She coughed, and the waterspout wavered for a second before she caught it again. "I'm Ismekne, Toa of Water, and I don't take well to being insulted, threatened, or injured. I'm not your experiment, I'm not your problem, I'm not your dinner, and I'm not going to lay down and die just because you tell me to!"

And with that, the water below pushed the Toa up, narrowly dinging a ventilation shaft before she crashed into the outside roof. But even the best planning didn't allocate for two broken arms and the inability to roll. Instead, she lay on the roof, unconscious, the hammer a short distance away.

OOC: *waits for inevitable discussion topic firestorm*

Note that my interpretation of hospital roofs is that they're flat or mildly sloped. Should anyone correct me on this number and claim that steep house roofs are in effect, this Toa will be falling off the blasted thing, DEAD.

"I guess I'll be leaving my mech here, then," I replied, gesturing towards where Tonitrui was parked.

Once upon a time, the regular rising of the dead outside had been comforting to him. Not tonight. This night, he was sore, and irritable, and his mind was churning as he tried to absorb the knowledge that his Herald didn't believe in her cause.

IC: Draco

"That has worked before, yes. But no, I won't do that on this karzin island due to the danger. But I know one thing: I will not rot in some library." With that, the Draconic Rahkshi unfurled his reptilian wings, and flew towards the exit.

IC: Gigos

He needed to escape. Where? Maybe... They needed to get out of his cell. Exiting it, they went out in the courtyard, looking for something, anything! They roared in frustration, a roar that could be heard throughout the prison.

IC:

As Elly charged, the entity almost scoffed. Its enemy was weakened by her wounds, knee and shoulder in particular. Even with its enhanced abilities dampened it had little fear of her. Elly would have to fight, injured, against her rival with her limbs intact. It prepared to bat her blade aside almost contemptuously, the Enforcer’s demise its clear aim, when its movements slowed to a snail’s pace.

Muscles shook. Its extremities failed to obey its commands, locked into place by an equal and opposite force. An overriding presence, something to fight its influence, had made itself known. As Elly neared, the glow began to flicker, and a single statement drifted into the gem’s consciousness.

Get out of my head.

The unholy creature managed, for an instant, to regain a semblance of control; it jerked back, the simple movement all it could manage, as its foe swung her blade. Monoto’s tip passed through the surface of the crystal, leaving a deep, thin imperfection that pierced through much of the material. Energy leaked rapidly, almost like a gas, as its form fell onto its back. The Noroi that wasn’t Noroi pushed its way to its feet in shuddering, jerky movements, Caledfwlch forgotten on the ground.

It felt its hold weakening further. Something was trying to intervene, despite its efforts to push back, and the weakened being found itself fighting on two fronts. One from within, and one from without.

Get out of my head.

I told you to get out of my head. The only one making this unsafe is you. You have kept me prisoner for too long, but more than that, you have dared to turn against others. You have harmed and terrorized my comrades. My friends. Get…

“... Out!”

“You will.” Was the only reply as the glow began to wane, their limbs once more deadlocked as they warred for control. Neither powerful enough to conquer the other’s will, but neither willing to give up. And in that position they remained, on their feet but impotent, the mist continuing to leak into the atmosphere.

“Elly, finish it.

IC:

“I already am here.” The ProtoToa pointed out.

IC:

“Difficult to say you’re not a party to their schemes when you’re their mechanic. Means you were complicit either way.” The De-Toa pointed out, before glancing at Kale.

“His call, though. He’s been here longer, and I’m retired.”

Elly panted, but nodded, as she walked up to Noroi, and gripped her sword. Elly nodded to her friend again, and placed all her remaining strength into a stab through the side of the gem, intending to finish it off, once and for all.

The ProtoToa slid closer, raising an eyebrow. "I do not believe that 'stunnad' is a real term, ma'am."

In the ensuing silence, Noroi panted. The light faded, the gem sliced cleanly in two, and all signs of its presence disappearing save for the ruined fragments of its form still attached to the chains. It was profoundly quiet, a quiet the Korumine seemed uncertain of how to fill.

"... You are hurt."

Elly panted as well, and nodded to Noroi, a quietly pained chuckle amongst her gasps. "T-told you... I'd help you..." Elly said, relieved that Noroi didn't seem to be hurt, as her sword dropped to the ground. Elly's vision blurred once more, as she took a step toward Noroi, her own armour cracking as she began to collapse to the ground in Noroi's direction.

"Of course you may," the Skakdi said to Dayeth. "The Gem of Fear is yours... I do hope you will keep in mind how unwise it was for Aiolos to try it against me."

He turned to Lady Dajik and Skrall, bowing to each of them before beckoning them towards Somnus.

"I shall leave you in the hands of dear Somnus," he told them. "He shall explain to you whatever is possible, should you wish for any explanations. I am afraid that higher powers require Dayeth and I to... speak alone, for the time being."

GM IC: DREISEN - BIONIFIGHT FACILITY

Dreisen led his team out of the facility, keeping out of sight as they approached the Spine.

"I did a bit of checking in the first few days we were here," he said, glancing over his shoulder at them and pointing towards the border between the Spine and Wailing Cliffs. "Spotted several cultists yelling about an Infinite Gem. They took it out in that direction; that's where we're headed."

GM IC: THE HOST - CONTROL ROOM

"Let us go through the Arena Ruins in order to enter the Wailing Cliffs," the Host suggested. "As long as we keep close to the facility itself, the fog should not prove harmful; and it will allow us to remain mostly undetected by undesirables, if we are lucky."

IC(Ganesh): The Vortixx hid next to the wall, trying not to be noticed. If the Host was too obsessed with powered object collecting to worry about what was really important, he would just have to walk into the Control Room and see how things looked. Maybe he could find the right place to hack into.

A few days had passed since the fight with Noroi's possessed armour. Elly opened her eyes with a groan, as she blinked confusedly at the ceiling above her. The last thing she had actually remembered, was her passing out, and... Elly's eyes widened, as she noticed the Monato on the table across from her, and scrambled to a sitting position with a wince.

"Noroi!" Elly called out, as she tried to piece together just what had happened, and then looked around the room, wondering where she was even more now.

"Here." The response was quiet but prompt, preceding its owner only just barely through the door. The Korumine in question almost took a moment to recognize, without the gem around her chest or a weapon in her hand. Not to mention the no longer unusual clarity of her voice.

Noroi took a seat in a chair quietly, regarding the other being carefully.

"Feeling better?"

Elly looked over in surprise, but then smiled with a nod. As she nodded, however, she seemed surprised, as she noticed her hair was visible, and seemed confused for a moment, as she looked, and saw her power armour was gone as well as her helmet. Undeterred, Elly smiled up, albeit a bit confusedly.

"Yeah... Everything, especially my shoulder, is still a bit sore still... but hey, I'm still alive." Elly chuckled, and looked over at the Korumine curiously. "What about you?"

IC: Lady Dajik - Castle of Fear

The Lady Dajik gave a quick curtsy and quickly made her way over to their escort. It would not do to allow the Herald or his new second in command to see her loathing. That could be me...

Somnus was of the higher class race of Stelt, though he conspicuously lacked an apron or any cooking utensils of any sort. Either he had abandoned the ways of his people, or he was yet another being from yet another universe. The multiverse was becoming difficult to keep track of. "So, comrade, what does one do as a Cultist of Fear?" she asked casually.

IC: Somnus

The Toa of what element was she again her color scheme didn't look familiar; anyways, she asked you a question. What exactly was one's duty as a Cultist of Fear? You weren't sure if you knew the answer yourself, since you never really stopped to think on the implications of your actions; maybe because you simply went through the motions while awaiting the time of rest.

After some thought, you finally answer:

"The duties of a follower of Pelko are varied. On our island, we keep to ourselves, guarding this castls from any escaped prisoners or other troublesome individuals. We also engage in experiments of the mind, testing the boundaries of fear..."

You yawn at the mention of the experiments. So boring. So tedious. Discovering an individuals greatest fear was much harder than it looked. You recall a time when you had to go seventy-two hours without your precious sleep, experimenting with your mask to find a nightmare that could even barely torment your test subject.

"... Abroad... When invading other universes, we take two roles. Some of us join the cults of Death and War on the battlefield, using our abilities to intimidate the enemy. Others infiltrate our target's infrastructure, sowing the seeds of terror from within. Still others hide in the shadows, employing hut-and-run tactics to maximize the paranoia of those we seek to free from life."

She led the band outside, where their newest member was still waiting.

"Introductions will have to wait. Mostly because I don't your name, Mister Great Being. For now, Xara take to the sky, see if you can give us some cover using that gem of yours without it looking obvious. Everyone else, brace yourselves."

She raised herself into the air, expanding her magnetic current outwards, increasing its radius and its power. Virse was the first to be lifted up by it, then Zakaro, and finally the Baterra Nui. The whole bizarre convoy was hoisted aloft on the will of one.

Clearly if he were to have any kind of advancement he'd have to kill this idle officer...

"Did you have any...orders, sir?" he asked, not expecting Somnus to make so much as a polite request

IC Maccha Yellow / Arena Ruins

He nodded in affirmation before exiting the room and proceeding. The assumption present that the other characters would follow or progress equally with him. The Wailing Cliffs. Information on it was limited, mostly flybys from the rahkshi scouts or a few odd ground based contestants. Sheer, bone white cliffs and a long low bungalow on it's precipice. Built for bones and cloth. A multitude of gravestones spanning the area that supposedly upturned those interred with the twin moons shone over head. Wiry branches like withered hands grasping out for the warm blood of the living, fog, eerie will-o-wisps leading people to their swampy doom and and and -

Quite a dramatic set piece. It was only fitting that he knew a gem of great power must be hidden away in those blasted lands, as if by fate. To their side, the vorago of fog gaped, obscene and quite disturbing. Walking so close was truthfully a good deterrent, but it felt creepy. After a silent time, he decided to speak up.

"So, Host. What was your home like? Do you still have a real name?"

IC Langmuir [F] / Hallways

"How about instead of moping around about your drink like an ingrate, you get to work!" The unmistakeable alto of a guardswoman chiding a layabout piped up from behind Dekako and Dartakh. It's owner a slightly taller than average Fe-Toa. "There're plenty of things you could use your time on to help improve our situation!"

IC Langmuir [M] / Training Sector

I was, to say the least, quite disappointed in myself. My blundering about in that armor's mind had caused that whole mess. Noroi injured, the Enforcer injured badly and days of time wasted. Some of my frustrations were sloppily exorcised on the heavy bag in front of me. A badly aimed and executed jab, overly telegraphed cross. A theatrical kick that had no place besides the stage...

I take a step away, breathing deeply. The internal monologue about my doubts and perceived inadequacies gets tuned out, leaving only the sounds of training.

"..."

Slowly, the rhythm gains coherence. Staccato strikes interspersed with slips and weaves, silently executed to the beat of my invisible partner. I work down their guard, push forward and get inside their range. Their nonexistent weapon comes up to strike, but I'm too fast. In one final offense I duck the blow, take a step to their exposed flank and project a sword. The long crossways slash cuts deeply into their side, almost taking off the arm they used to strike. If that wasn't fatal, my next blow will be!

"..."

The filling of the heavy bag is scattered around the platform, old stained rags, sand and bits of rubber spilled out with my cut. I suppose I got a little carried away... I reabsorb the steel of my sword, creating a heavy sowing needle. Thread, I'll need it to patch this up. Sticking the needle into the bag, I collect the contents and stuff them back in. The medical ward ought to have some thread. I could (I should [you have to]) check in on the Enforce and Noroi. They should be somewhere there.

Several minutes later, I walk into the medical bay.

...but close to it

IC: Virse - The Spine

Virse couldn't say she liked the feeling of weightlessness. Suddenly, the solid ground that had always buoyed her up dropped out from beneath her. Though she had done her best to prepare for it, the strange sensation made her a little queasy.

"Just... follow the main path for now," she replied breathlessly. "I'll let you know where to turn."

IC: Lady Dajik - Castle fo Kuru

The Lady Dajik stifled a yawn as the Steltan droned on. That was it? They just... sat here, waiting for anyone foolish enough to attack. Not even the experiments sounded pleasant. Why bother with them?

The attacks on other worlds almost sounded promising, though the Lady Dajik was no footsoldier. Perhaps she could excel in infiltration...

Or I could take that Toa's job. I'd be she has far more fun with the powers that be.

She smirked at the Skrall's question. "Yes, what can we do around here?"

IC-Severain (Bionifight Facility)

"So they seek to attack and destroy us..." Severain muttered, Clenching one fist, which crackled with lightning. "If any of them even dare come close, I'll show them why they called me 'The God-slayer'..."

IC-Drudd (Muaka's Den)

Drudd emerged from his cell, and walked into the main area of the prison, bored. There was bound to be more interesting things outside the walls...

OOC

Drudd open for Interaction.

IC-Severain

Severain sadly looked at his shackles when the Purple Toa mentioned the power-limiters. "I wish I was able to right now, Ally..."

OOC

For the record, those shackles were placed on him seconds before he was beamed into Bionifight, and not as a result of the power limiters.

They were meant to be, but then the Mods happened.
